    Day and Night Longing

How many alphas have you played with?

Jiang Youwan made a request that outsiders would find intimate.

In this world, pheromones are a relatively private thing. In public places, it’s not allowed to release one’s pheromones casually. If a person makes a request for another’s pheromones, they are almost certainly bonded mates.

Pheromones have many functions and many types — for example, attractive pheromones, soothing pheromones, aggressive pheromones, and so on.

A request like “Can you give me a little more of your pheromones?” can only be made between lovers, never between friends or family.

But ever since Jiang Jinyi had lured her into heat last time, Jiang Youwan had been thinking of her pheromones day and night. She even dreamed of them, and would wake up in a sticky mess.

She had caused this trouble, so she had to take responsibility.

Jiang Jinyi didn’t ask further or think too much, slowly releasing her pheromones. The hyacinth fragrance in the hospital room grew richer, sweet and fragrant, wisps dancing in the air, until no other scent could be detected.

Jiang Jinyi knew Jiang Youwan hated the smell of alcohol, so she had actually been releasing her pheromones the whole time she’d been in the hospital, very faintly, maybe not completely covering the disinfectant, which was why Jiang Youwan wanted a little more.

Jiang Jinyi generously offered: “Here, take it.”

It was a very simple pheromone comfort, without any emotional charge, that made Jiang Youwan so comfortable her eyes narrowed. She hugged a pillow and hummed happily: “Xiao Jin gave so much. So good.”

Jiang Youwan was like a lazy fox at that moment, her voice carrying that kind of pleasurable, seductive tone that only came at certain times. Jiang Jinyi’s ears grew warm at the sound; she wondered, could her pheromones really be so powerful?

Jiang Youwan admonished her in the tone of a jiejie: “Xiao Jin, you need to hide your pheromones out in the world; you can’t just give them to anyone like this.”

Jiang Jinyi turned her head away, staring at the television, and said in a very soft voice: “Why would I give my pheromones to anyone else?”

This sentence greatly pleased Jiang Youwan.

    She asked: “Only to me?”

Jiang Jinyi blinked, her lips parting slightly, then with tsundere defiance she refused to answer and instead asked back: “Do you only ask me for pheromones?”

Jiang Youwan raised a single eyebrow, didn’t answer her question, and continued: “Why does Xiao Jin ask this?”

That was what she cared about most.

    Why?

Jiang Jinyi looked at her again, her eyes scanning her up and down. She swallowed, hesitated, and stammered: “Y-you really look like one of those licentious women right now.”

    “Hmm?”

    “You really do!”

Ever since she woke up a few days ago, Jiang Jinyi had felt that Jiang Youwan had changed so much. Whether driven by omega nature or not, she had grown increasingly sexy, as if seductiveness was in her bones — her bearing enchanting, her tenderness peerless. Jiang Youwan would never have worn such sexy, revealing clothes before.

Jiang Jinyi organized her words for a moment, then asked her: “Like one of those starved and thirsty, overripe omegas. Have you had many relationships? Toyed with many alphas?”

Jiang Youwan blinked. Those words sounded familiar.

    Licentious?

Not long ago, Jiang Jinyi had used that kind of word to humiliate her, in public.

But unlike the malice from a few days ago, Xiao Jin was now simply puzzled.

“I’ve never asked anyone else for pheromones, and I’ve certainly never played with anyone else’s feelings. Only Xiao Jin.”

This sentence was truly ambiguous. Outsiders would definitely misunderstand, but Jiang Jinyi didn’t think in that direction. She knew the reason behind it. Jiang Youwan hated the hospital’s disinfectant smell, so she needed her pheromones to cover it.

But at Jiang Youwan’s answer, Jiang Jinyi showed a skeptical expression. For an SSS-class omega as seductive as her, could she really have never dated? Or kept a mistress1?

Four years later… Now Jiang Youwan was twenty-eight, right? Didn’t she feel desire?

Jiang Youwan’s words interrupted her thoughts: “Xiao Jin is also forbidden from asking anyone else for pheromones.” Then she added slowly: “Jiejie hasn’t started dating yet, so you can’t either.”

Xu An and Xiaoqin hadn’t left. That hulking bodyguard took them to a coffee shop, told them to wait, and said President Jiang would come chat with them later.

Xu An and Xiaoqin sat side by side by the window. Xu An propped her chin on one hand, squinting outside with a very displeased expression; her unruly pink twin tails seemed to bristle with anger.

Beside her, Xiaoqin had her head down, looking especially dejected, occasionally letting out a sob, her shoulders shaking.

    Chat with Jiang Youwan?

    Was it really a chat?

Xu An shuddered just thinking about it. She’d wanted to run long ago, but looking out the glass window, she had no idea how many of Jiang Youwan’s bodyguards were standing there. Even though she was an alpha, there was no way she could take on that many. No escape, even with wings.

    “Sob… sob…”

Another sob. Xu An frowned and turned to look at this girl who was secretly crying with her head down, unable to hide it, with a complicated expression.

This girl had a faint camellia scent, quite gentle; she should be an omega. An omega with a very timid personality.

Xiaoqin seemed to notice her gaze; embarrassed, she covered her face with her hands and wiped her tears.

“What are you crying for?” Xu An sighed, comforting her. “Even if Jiang Youwan doesn’t like us, she wouldn’t dare do anything to us. This is a society ruled by law.”

Even as she said it, Xu An herself felt guilty. That woman Jiang Youwan was like a crazy, insane villain from a movie, hiding a knife behind her smile — there was nothing she wouldn’t do.

“Sob… thank you…” Xiaoqin wiped her tears clean, lifted her face to look at Xu An, tear tracks on her face like a little kitten, pitiful, and gazed at Xu An with an especially grateful look. Xu An’s breath caught, her jaw tightening.

This little omega had a face no bigger than a palm, long straight black hair, bangs, cute…

“B-but I’m not crying because I’m afraid of Jiang Youwan,” she explained quietly.

Xu An was puzzled. “Then why?”

At this, Xiaoqin’s moist eyes seemed about to spill tears again. Biting her lip, thoroughly aggrieved: “M-Miss doesn’t remember me! Wah wah wah wah!”

    ???

    Just because of that?

Xu An inwardly hissed. This omega wasn’t even afraid of that female demon Jiang Youwan, yet she was crying this much just because Jiang Jinyi didn’t remember her?

Xu An thought for a moment, then looked at her and asked: “You wouldn’t happen to like Xiao Jin, would you?”

Xiaoqin wiped her tears again and said in a choked, broken voice: “M-Miss… she is… my savior.”

Back then, she had been forced to drop out of school because of bullying. Her parents didn’t want her, the school didn’t want her, she was homeless. The only job she could get was as a waitress at a night market barbecue stall. Late one night, a few drunk men tried to assault her. Jiang Jinyi had pulled her out of those thugs’ hands.

At that time, Jiang Jinyi was only a freshman in college. She gave her food, gave her a place to live, made her her assistant, took her everywhere to run errands and gain experience. Over these four years, they had always been together, and she was truly grateful.

So it really is that kind of feeling?

Xu An looked at Ji Xiaoqin with a complicated expression, not knowing what to say.

She had a strong feeling that this was destined to be an unrequited love with no future.
