The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 27
by Little PandaHow Embarrassing
Don’t Be Afraid
Usually, the servants checked the weather forecast and brought all the flowers into the greenhouse on rainy days. Today, however, they’d been negligent and missed a few pots.
Outside the window, the heavy rain showed no signs of stopping. Jiang Jinyi took a quick, hot shower. When she came out and looked at the few potted flowers in the living room—the ones Jiang Youwan had protected—her heart swelled with a complex tangle of emotions.
Why is she still so good to me? I clearly detest her, never give her a pleasant look, and even bully her.
Jiang Jinyi sat on the sofa and covered her face with her hands.
After a few minutes, a soft call came from the bathroom. Jiang Jinyi turned her head as a voice drifted out, “Miss Jiang, I don’t have any clothes…”
Only then did Jiang Jinyi realize that in her rush earlier, she’d let Jiang Youwan take a bath without preparing any clothes for her.
She called back, “Wait there.”
It was her first time entering Jiang Youwan’s bedroom. She went through her wardrobe and pulled out a set of clothes along with some underwear.
Walking over to the bathroom door, she knocked with her knuckles and said, keeping her eyes cast down, “I brought you some clothes.”
A few seconds passed before the bathroom lock clicked. The door creaked open a tiny sliver, and a pair of pale, slender, yet scarred hands reached out through the gap.
“Miss Jiang…” Jiang Youwan softly called.
Jiang Jinyi raised her eyes, looked for just a second, and placed the clothes in her hands.
Having delivered the clothes, Jiang Jinyi didn’t leave. Instead, she stood by the door with her back turned to it.
Jiang Youwan dressed faster than usual.
Jiang Jinyi stared down at the tiled floor, biting her lip as she asked softly, “Why did you go out to hold an umbrella over those flowers?”
“Because you cherish those flowers, Miss Jiang,” Jiang Youwan replied without a moment’s hesitation.
Jiang Jinyi was bewildered. Deeply, painfully bewildered. “What does my cherishing those flowers have to do with you?” she pressed.
The rustling of fabric soon ceased. Jiang Youwan fumbled for the doorknob and turned it gently. She seemed to do everything with a delicate touch.
“I don’t want Miss Jiang to be unhappy,” Jiang Youwan said as she stood behind her, the door now open.
With her came a thick scent of rose body wash, which mingled with her pheromones.
Datura was a lethal flower—heady, seductive, mysterious, and dangerous.
“Why… why don’t you want me to be unhappy?” Jiang Jinyi turned around. She froze for a moment upon seeing Jiang Youwan’s face before the question slipped out.
Droplets of water still clung to Jiang Youwan’s long, curled eyelashes. She looked like a fresh lotus rising from the water, her skin fair and flawless as alabaster, so delicate it seemed it would break at a touch.
She wore a soft, fluid shirt that exposed her delicate collarbones, her pale skin flushed with a subtle rosy warmth.
Jiang Youwan didn’t answer immediately.
Jiang Jinyi’s mind was in utter disarray. She stepped forward and tugged on Jiang Youwan’s sleeve. “Hurry up and tell me…”
“I can’t say,” Jiang Youwan replied innocently.
“Why can’t you?”
“If I say it, Miss Jiang will get angry.”
Jiang Jinyi’s brow furrowed into a tiny hill. The more Jiang Youwan resisted, the more Jinyi wanted to know. Her tone sharpened. “Tell me right now, or I’ll really get angry.”
Jiang Youwan’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she parted her lips. “Because…”
She’d only uttered those two words when a sudden flash of lightning ripped through the sky, followed instantly by a deafening crash of thunder. The thunder exploded right beside them. Startled, Jiang Jinyi shrieked and, without a single thought, threw her arms around the only person she could cling to.
Their soft bodies pressed flush against each other, leaving no space between them.
Jiang Youwan’s body stiffened slightly. Then, a rapid succession of thunderclaps followed. Each roaring boom made Jiang Jinyi’s heart leap with terror. She clung tighter and tighter, burying herself completely in Jiang Youwan’s embrace, her head pressing deep into the crook of the other’s neck.
Her breathing was ragged. With every breath she took, she inhaled nothing but Jiang Youwan’s scent.
Feeling the small, slender body trembling in her arms, Jiang Youwan closed her eyes, raised her arms, and embraced Jiang Jinyi back, gently patting her back to soothe her.
“Don’t be afraid…” she murmured, her voice slightly raspy.
Soon, quiet returned to the room, leaving only the patter of the rain outside and the sound of their breathing.
One breath was rapid; the other, unsteady.
Jiang Jinyi gradually recovered and slowly loosened her tight grip. Her face burned hot, filled with shame and anger at herself for hugging this person again.
So… so embarrassing.
Above her, Jiang Youwan’s exceptionally gentle voice sounded once more. “It’s over now. Don’t be afraid.”
Her voice truly possessed a soothing power, but it only made Jiang Jinyi feel even more bashful.
Jiang Jinyi’s face grew hotter, burning up, and the rims of her eyes reddened as a layer of mist veiled her gaze.
Getting frightened to tears by thunder was truly humiliating. Fortunately, Jiang Youwan couldn’t see her tears.
“Jiang…” Jiang Youwan began to speak, but Jiang Jinyi hastily interrupted her. Stepping back out of her embrace, she quickly changed the subject. “You still haven’t answered what I asked earlier.”
Relying on Jiang Youwan’s blindness to hide her flushed face, Jiang Jinyi asked, “Why on earth are you doing all this for me?”
I’m clearly so awful to you. I used to bully and humiliate you like that.
Jiang Youwan remained silent for a long while, continuing until Jiang Jinyi seemed on the verge of losing her patience. Only then did she open her lips and speak against her own heart: “Because you are my meimei, after all.”
As the words fell, the air seemed to freeze. Both of them held their breath, and even the sound of the rain outside seemed to vanish.
Jiang Jinyi stood frozen, her eyes locked onto Jiang Youwan without blinking. Her disbelief was laced with a complex tangle of other emotions.
Meimei…
How dare she say that? How is she even qualified to say that?
So… is that what she really thinks?
Does she really think of me as her meimei?
Jiang Jinyi’s mind was in absolute turmoil, torn between two conflicting emotions. “My mother is coming back soon,” she declared.
It was “my mother,” not “Mother.”
Hearing this, Jiang Youwan seemed taken aback and stiffened for a fraction of a second, but she returned to normal instantly. A faint smile curled the corners of her lips. “Then Miss should be happy.”
“I’m happy.” Jiang Jinyi sniffled. “But the moment I think of you, I’m not happy anymore.”
“When Mother comes home, are you going to complain to her? Are you going to accuse me of how I’ve treated you all this time?”
Listen to that. How childish.
The curve of Jiang Youwan’s lips did not falter; instead, it deepened slightly. “I won’t complain to her,” she comforted.
She added, “And I won’t try to steal her from you, either.”
Jiang Jinyi looked completely unconvinced. “You’re lying,” she asserted.
Jiang Youwan’s face was the picture of sincerity. “How could I lie to you? I’m already an adult, so of course I won’t…”
Jiang Jinyi frowned and cut her off, snapping, “I’m an adult too!”
Jiang Youwan paused slightly and smiled. Her voice dropped lower, trailing out in a slow, leisurely drawl. “But compared to competing with Miss for Chairman Jiang, I’d much rather win Miss Jiang’s favor.”
Jiang Jinyi knit her brows, her heart rate accelerating for some inexplicable reason. With a tremor in her voice, she continued, “Why are you trying to win my favor? I don’t like you at all.”
Jiang Youwan let out a sigh. “It’s only normal for Miss not to like me. No one has ever liked me since I was a child.” If one listened closely, a tiny hint of grievance could be heard in her voice.
Jiang Jinyi’s eyelashes trembled. “Why do you have to win my favor? I’m never going to acknowledge you as my jie—”
“Boom—”
A deafening roll of thunder exploded right beside them, like a meteorite crashing from the heavens and bursting against the earth. The words on Jiang Jinyi’s tongue dissolved into a startled shriek, her thoughts completely shattered. In her panic, at that exact instant, she was once again pulled into Jiang Youwan’s embrace.
Embarrassed and terrified, she burrowed deeper and deeper into her embrace, seeking security.
Thunder clapped in rapid succession, as if a heavenly being were undergoing a trial.
“Mnh…” She squeezed her eyes shut and curled up, her mind chanting a frantic mantra: Stop, please stop…
A pair of warm, soft hands cupped themselves over her ears, pressing down. Instantly, the roaring thunder was muffled into a distant rumble.
“It’s alright…”
Jiang Jinyi threw all shame and pride to the wind. She let Jiang Youwan cradle her head, burrowing into her embrace.
Though it was only a few brief seconds, it felt as if an eternity had passed.
Right then, the front door swung open. Dr. Li stood in the doorway, holding an umbrella, staring blankly at the scene before her.
“Miss, you…”
Jiang Jinyi: !!!!
Sensing Jiang Jinyi pulling away, Jiang Youwan immediately released her.
Jiang Jinyi was still visibly shaken. Her pale face flushed a brilliant crimson, and she bit her lip in mute mortification. One second she’d been declaring how much she hated her and that she’d never acknowledge her as her jiejie, and the very next, she’d burrowed straight into her arms.
Not only that, she’d even been seen by someone!
Keeping her head ducked, too embarrassed to meet Dr. Li’s gaze, she turned and bolted up the stairs.
Dr. Li: ???
Completely bewildered, Dr. Li set her umbrella down, wiped the water from her face, and walked over to Jiang Youwan with her medical kit. “What’s wrong with you? Where are you hurt?”
With Jiang Jinyi gone, Jiang Youwan’s expression returned to its usual cold detachment. She raised her arm slightly, letting Dr. Li see her bandaged hand. “I cut my palm, but it’s already been disinfected and bandaged. It’s fine now.”
“That’s it?” Dr. Li said, slightly annoyed. “I rushed over in this pouring rain, and that’s it?”
Jiang Youwan replied, “Miss Jiang was the one who called you. It has nothing to do with me.”
Dr. Li: …
The rising flames of her annoyance were instantly doused.
“This bandage is incredibly ugly. It’s completely crooked.” Eager to find something to do, she locked her gaze onto Jiang Youwan’s left hand. “Let me rewrap it for you.”
As soon as Dr. Li finished speaking, Jiang Youwan pulled her hand back expressionlessly. “The cut isn’t large or deep. It’s fine now. There’s no need to undo it.”
“Are you sure?”
“No need.”
“Do you really not need me to take another look at the wound?”
An almost imperceptible flicker of impatience crossed Jiang Youwan’s brow. “No.”
Dr. Li took the hint and shut her mouth.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the house.
Jiang Jinyi curled back up in her bed, lying on her side. The rain outside was still terrifyingly heavy, showing no signs of slowing down or letting up.
When she closed her eyes, her mind filled with the image of Jiang Youwan holding the umbrella over the flowers.
Unable to resist her exhaustion, she gradually drifted off to sleep to the sound of the rain. By the time the sky slowly brightened, the downpour had finally ceased.
Moving on from grief could be incredibly difficult at times, yet at other times, it was remarkably simple.
Ever since she was a child, Jiang Jinyi had wanted to raise a cat. She had longed for one for years, but because her studies kept her busy, Jiang Ningshu always insisted on waiting until she graduated. Thus, she had never gotten one. Back then, when her desire for a cat kept her awake at night, she would think petulantly: If anyone ever gives me a cat, I’ll follow her home willingly.
And now, she was fulfilling that promise, wasn’t she?
This was Jiang Youwan’s home, and it was her home as well. From now on… she would be her only family.
No, that was not quite right. There was also Xiao Yu.
When Jiang Youwan first suggested naming the cat Xiao Yu, Jiang Jinyi had found it bizarre. How could a cat be named “Little Fish”?
But on second thought, why couldn’t a cat be named Xiao Yu? Who said what was allowed or wasn’t? Her cat, Jiang Jinyi’s cat, was going to be unconventional and go by the name Xiao Yu.
Xiao Yu herself, however, wasn’t unconventional at all. She was exceptionally well-behaved and remarkably polite. Whenever Jiang Jinyi pulled out a cat treat, she’d sniff the air and pad over step by step, curling up right in front of her. She’d look up with pleading eyes and let out a soft meow, as if to say she wanted a bite.
Even when being fed, she ate without any rush. If the treat was suddenly pulled away, she would not get angry. Instead, she would just look slightly dazed and a little hurt, just like a lovable, dimwitted beauty.
Xiao Yu always loved to run into Jiang Youwan’s room. For some unknown reason, perhaps she simply favored the room’s fengshui. Consequently, Jiang Jinyi ended up visiting Jiang Youwan’s room more frequently and staying longer. Jiang Youwan never complained, merely watching with a gentle smile as she played with the cat.
Some people got so absorbed in petting the cat that they didn’t even realize they were being “petted” themselves, remaining every bit as docile as Xiao Yu.
Once, while Jiang Youwan was at the office, Xiao Yu slipped into her room again. Jiang Jinyi followed her inside, planning to search the cabinets for a cat treat. Her attention, however, was caught by an exquisite box. Opening it, she discovered a bag of Buddhist beads inside.

They looked incredibly familiar.
Isn’t this the string of Buddhist beads I got for Jiang Youwan at the temple back then?
No wonder I haven’t seen Jiang Youwan wear them.
Why are they broken?
During those days, Jiang Jinyi stayed at home. With Xiao Yu and Jiang Youwan around, time ticked by, and she gradually came to accept reality—accepting that her mother had passed away, and accepting that she was now twenty-three years old.
She wanted to live out her twenty-third year and do what she was supposed to do. She couldn’t go on being so listless.
That day, she shared her thoughts with Xu An. Xu An told her, “No one knows more about your four-year blank space than Ji Xiaoqin.”
Jiang Jinyi recalled the name: Ji Xiaoqin, her assistant. She remembered seeing the omega in the hospital room—the girl who always looked as if she were on the verge of tears. Especially when Jinyi had refused to listen to her, she had looked deeply hurt yet held it in, telling her to get some rest first.
Using her new phone number, she took the initiative to add Ji Xiaoqin on WeChat.
The request was approved almost instantly, followed by a message: 【Miss?】
【It’s me.】
Jiang Jinyi clicked into her Moments and browsed. Almost all the posts were related to Jinyi’s paintings. She seemed to be a highly dedicated assistant.
【Let’s meet up.】
【Okay!】
They agreed to meet at a cafe. Ji Xiaoqin arrived very early. From a distance, Jiang Jinyi spotted her waiting at a table. Upon seeing Jiang Jinyi, Ji Xiaoqin stood up and waved with a bright smile on her face.
Ji Xiaoqin wore a white shirt and loose, wide-leg trousers, carrying a briefcase with her.
Jiang Jinyi walked over and sat down. A cup of coffee was already placed on the table. She picked it up and took a sip; it was her favorite blend.
Knowing her so well, Jiang Jinyi secretly felt a bit more warmly toward this unfamiliar girl.
It seemed they’d truly been very close, though the girl appeared slightly reserved now.
Jiang Jinyi cut straight to the chase. “I want you to tell me about the four years I’ve forgotten.”
Ji Xiaoqin was thrilled and nodded vigorously.
With that, Ji Xiaoqin began to recount the past four years. She pulled several documents from her briefcase and spread them before Jiang Jinyi.
“This is our studio, and this is your art studio. And these… these are all the paintings you’ve done.”
When they first opened the studio, Jiang Jinyi had very little popularity. What little notoriety she possessed came from her past controversial reputation. People who came to purchase her art did so not for the paintings themselves, but for her as a person.
Possessing a fiery temper, Jiang Jinyi refused to sell her work to those kinds of buyers. Consequently, their initial revenue was dismal, with almost no sales. Ji Xiaoqin had worked tirelessly to promote her, busy from morning till night, pouring her heart and soul into the work.
For some reason, starting from a certain point, she couldn’t sell a single painting, and every piece she submitted was rejected and returned, highlighting how much of a failure she was. During that period, Jiang Jinyi even began to doubt if she was truly useless. Ridden with anxiety every day, she’d contemplated going home countless times.
Yet in the end, her stubborn pride and refusal to compromise kept her pushing forward.
It wasn’t until a year ago that people began buying her paintings. Gradually, the number of buyers grew, and she started winning awards, eventually gaining recognition from the public.
Ah, so she was not just the arrogant, idle Eldest Miss of the Jiang family—she was also an artist.
And a rather talented one at that.
Jiang Jinyi noticed that Ji Xiaoqin always spoke with a soft smile. Her grin grew particularly brilliant when she talked about Jinyi’s awards and accomplishments.
She had prepared for an entire year, planning to hold a massive solo exhibition at the Beicheng Art Museum in late April, only for this unexpected accident to occur.
Now it was already mid-May, and the exhibition had been delayed for nearly a month.
Ji Xiaoqin opened her phone to show her the photo album. There were hundreds of paintings depicting all kinds of flowers, blooming in rivaling splendor. The theme of the exhibition was 《Sea of Flowers》.
Jiang Jinyi stared blankly at the paintings on the phone, her eyes filled with astonishment and awe.
I actually painted these.
Ji Xiaoqin looked up at her, speaking with a touch of caution. “They’ve already prompted me many times, Miss. When will you return to Bei City?”
Return to Bei City?
To the current Jiang Jinyi, Bei City was an utterly foreign place. In the entire country, Bei City was the furthest point from Luo City.
Why on earth had she chosen to go to Bei City back then?
Jiang Jinyi could not think of a single reason.
“Do you know why I went to Bei City in the first place?”
Ji Xiaoqin startled slightly. A flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes before she shook her head. “Miss never told me why she went to Bei City.”
“…I see.”
She’d asked Xu An as well, and Xu An hadn’t known either.
Never mind, there’s no point dwelling on it.
Despite her amnesia making everything feel incredibly surreal, she was genuinely captivated by the artwork of her future self. She truly wanted to see the exhibition through.
She must have poured an immense amount of effort into it back then.
Jiang Jinyi said, “Go ahead and book plane tickets for three days from now. We’ll head to Bei City then.”
Ji Xiaoqin’s eyes seemed to light up. “Alright!”
She spent nearly two hours in the cafe with Ji Xiaoqin. When she stepped back outside, it was already noon—lunchtime.
This was the first time Jiang Jinyi had gone out in days, and she didn’t want to return home so quickly. After pondering for a moment, she instructed the driver to take her to the entrance of the Jiang Corporation Building.
The Jiang Corporation Building was a prominent landmark in Luo City.
The moment she entered, the receptionist recognized her and offered a greeting. “Second Miss.”
Jiang Jinyi didn’t look at her directly, merely offering a slight nod as she walked past.
She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but the way the employees looked at her as they greeted her felt off.
It was an indescribable feeling—a mix of shock, fear, and a hint of gossipy amusement, as if they were watching a spectacle unfold.
But Jiang Jinyi didn’t pay it much mind.
Stepping into her exclusive elevator, she quickly ascended to the fifty-eighth floor. The elevator doors opened with a soft chime, revealing a man in professional attire holding a document folder, his eyes locking directly onto hers.
Upon seeing her, a look of profound shock washed over his face. “You…”
Seeing him blocking the path, Jiang Jinyi knit her brows slightly. “Step aside.”
“Jiang Jinyi?”
Ji Yu could never have imagined that this woman would dare show her face at Jiang Corporation again. The last time he’d seen her, he’d mistaken her for President Jiang’s girlfriend, which had left him heartbroken for quite a while before he finally dcided to move on. He’d never expected that within a matter of days, such a massive scandal would break. This woman had dragged President Jiang into the eye of the storm, forcing her to undergo investigations and leaving her utterly overwhelmed with work every single day.
Instead of stepping aside, Ji Yu’s expression grew cold, his voice dripping with disgust. “How do you still have the face to come to Jiang Corporation?”
The author has something to say:
Good afternoon! If you act sweet to me (call me Author-jiejie), there’ll be a second update! If no one does, then never mind.
