    A Kiss

    The World’s Happiest Little Alpha

The evening she opened her eyes, Jiang Youwan was discharged from the hospital and went home together with Jiang Jinyi.

Having grown used to Jiang Youwan being blind, Jinyi found it very hard to adjust now that she had regained her sight and could see. Very hard to adjust.

Because she was too beautiful. Jinyi had always loved staring at her, loved analyzing her features, figuring out what makeup would suit her best, what clothes would look best on her.

It had become a habit — she’d catch herself turning to look at Youwan, and Youwan would glance back with a questioning look, making it incredibly awkward.

She turned her head away, not looking at Youwan anymore, gazing out the window instead — only to see through the glass that Youwan had been staring at her the whole time.

Jinyi squirmed all over and couldn’t help turning to her. “Why do you keep staring at her?”

Afraid Youwan would retort, “Didn’t you also look at me just now?” she preemptively said in a very serious tone, “I only looked at you for a little while just now, so you’re only allowed to look at me for a little while too.”

Amusement glinted in Youwan’s eyes. “Because it’s been such a long, long time since I’ve seen anything this beautiful. Can’t I look a little longer?”

What should have been a bittersweet remark came out of Youwan’s mouth with an inexplicably teasing flavor. Jinyi froze, her lips parting, momentarily at a loss for words — then she jerked her head away, refusing to acknowledge her.

Beyond her control, her earlobes reddened bit by bit under Youwan’s gaze.

Jinyi had assumed that after regaining her sight, Youwan would stay home and keep her company. To her surprise, the very next day, her mother took her away to the company.

Taken to the company to work alongside her mother.

At the time, Jinyi didn’t think much of it. She couldn’t have cared less about things like the company or the family fortune — she was just a little disappointed that there was no one left to play with her.

While Youwan had been in the hospital, Jinyi had secretly planned out everything they’d do together: they’d watch anime, maybe she could teach her to paint, teach her to grow flowers, take her out to play, show her scenery she’d never seen before.

Now it was all ruined. Youwan had to stay at the company every day, incredibly busy, not getting home until around nine at night with her mother — not even resting on weekends.

So Jinyi had a lot of questions.

Why did people have to work? Did growing up mean having to work? Couldn’t you just not work? They already had enough money to last several lifetimes — couldn’t they just hand the company over to professional managers?

Still, busy as she was, Youwan replied to every message instantly. She’d ask every day if there was anything Jinyi wanted to eat or buy, and she’d bring it back for her. Of course Jinyi didn’t hold back — whatever she wanted to eat or play with, she’d have Youwan buy it.

No matter how unreasonable the request, as long as Jinyi put on a sweet, pouty act, Youwan would fulfill it. Jinyi enjoyed it with clear conscience, pushing her luck further and further.

Slowly, she grew dependent on Youwan, trusting her more and more. The young lady of the house — who had always been so fiercely territorial, so domineering — was now willing to give up space on the second floor, letting Youwan move up there to live.

Youwan’s room was right next to hers.

On nights when it thundered and rained, if Jiang Ningshu wasn’t home, Youwan earned the privilege of going to Jinyi’s room to keep her company — sitting at the edge of her bed, playing games with her, watching anime with her, staying until she fell asleep.

Whenever it rained with lightning and thunder, Jinyi used to wake up again and again, startled. Ever since Youwan moved to the second floor, she always slept soundly.

She didn’t know that many times, after she’d already fallen asleep, Youwan couldn’t bear to leave. She’d watch her, holding back the desire that grew endlessly in her heart.

One night, Jinyi suddenly craved a particular dessert — one that wasn’t available in Luo City. She’d stumbled upon it once while visiting Hai City, and now the memory surfaced, and she really, really wanted it.

So she casually posted on her social feed, saying next time she went to Hai City she’d buy out that entire dessert shop.

The post went up, and soon likes and comments flooded in.

【Next time you go, Xiao Jin, take me with you — I’ll help you buy it out.】

    【Next time I’ll treat you.】

    【Xiao Jin likes this? I’ll remember that.】

There were many similar comments — too many for Jinyi to reply to, so she didn’t. With nothing to do, she watched a movie in the living room. Around nine, she heard a car outside. She paused the movie and looked toward the door — Secretary Song was helping her mother inside.

Jinyi went to ask what happened. Secretary Song said, “Chairman Jiang had quite a bit to drink at a business dinner and isn’t feeling well. I’ll take care of her. Miss, you can go back to your movie.”

This wasn’t the first time. Her mother had always needed to attend business dinners and drink heavily — Secretary Song would bring her home each time, help her to her room, and settle her into bed.

The only difference was that this time, Secretary Song came out of her mother’s room not long after. In Jinyi’s memory, she usually stayed inside for a long time — or stayed the whole night taking care of her.

There was a room in the house reserved for Secretary Song, but lately she hadn’t been seen staying overnight.

The movie ended. It was very late, and Youwan still hadn’t come home. Jinyi assumed she was busy with work and grumbled to herself about what could possibly keep her so busy — then tidied up and went to her room to sleep.

Later, half-asleep, Jinyi thought she heard a door push open. She rolled over, not wanting to wake — then footsteps. She turned back and blinked her eyes open, groggy.

The first thing she saw was Youwan’s face — cool and gentle at once. Youwan smiled, lifted the bag in her hand, and asked softly, “Still want to eat? Or do you want to sleep first? We can put it in the fridge for tomorrow.”

Jinyi’s eyes locked on the logo on the bag. She froze for a moment, then her face lit up. She scrambled out of bed, staring at Youwan in happy surprise. “You went and bought it? Why did you go buy it?!”

That was Hai City — and while it wasn’t far from Luo City, the round trip by car was still two or three hours. So that was why Youwan had come home so late…

Youwan unhurriedly opened the bag, took out one of Jinyi’s favorites, scooped a spoonful, and held it to her lips with a smile. “Xiao Jin wanted it, so I went and bought it.”

Jinyi never expected Youwan to be this wonderful — willing to drive all that way just because of a casual social post about wanting something. It was nothing like the people who said they’d treat her “next time.”

In her excitement, Jinyi didn’t know what came over her — she pressed a kiss onto Youwan’s cheek.

Youwan stood frozen for a long time.

After finishing the dessert and washing up, Jinyi lay in bed. Youwan put the rest in the fridge and came back to grab the phone she’d left in Jinyi’s room — only to find Jinyi already asleep.

She stood beside her bed for a long time without moving, breathing softly. Perhaps her heart was warring with itself, struggling. Finally, she bent down, rested a hand gently on Jinyi’s hair, and also pressed a kiss onto her pale, young cheek.

This kiss was pure. Very pure. A kiss between sisters.

That was how she numbed her restless, guilty heart.

Jinyi at that time was the very picture of innocence. Youwan felt she had profaned her — it was sinful, sordid.

Back then, she never imagined that one day that radiant, holy angel would fall into her trap, be defiled by her, and carry her scent over every inch of her body.

She wished she could freeze time entirely at this moment, capture every frame of Xiao Jin’s enamored expression.

Afterward, Sister stroked her head while feeding her milk, saying that Xiao Jin must be the happiest little alpha in the world — having had Sister, and still getting to drink Sister’s milk too.

Jinyi took it all, her face flushed completely red.

The room was no longer fit for sleeping in. After a quick rinse, they moved to Youwan’s room. Youwan seemed to have planned for everything that would happen today — she had already moved Xiao Yu to the first floor beforehand. Just the two of them, utterly exhausted, they fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Jinyi felt like she’d slept for a long time, slept deeply and comfortably. Every breath carried a scent she loved. She’d had sweet dreams.

    Very, very sweet dreams.

In the half-awake haze of morning, she sensed someone stroking her face — tapping the tip of her nose, kneading her earlobes — punctuated by lazy little laughs now and then. And worse — far worse — Jinyi felt something soft press against her face, and a milky scent filled her nose. She knew what it was. She’d been managing to hold back, keeping her face from reddening, her heart from racing, her breathing from quickening — but now all of it collapsed.

Youwan was playing with her face however she pleased.

As if she were her possession.

A little while later, Youwan left the room first. Only after she’d gone did Jinyi fully wake up, feeling a sore ache in her right arm — she could barely lift it.

    How embarrassing…

She was still fretting when Xu An suddenly called. Jinyi picked up, and Xu An, barely holding it together, demanded to know why she hadn’t been answering.

Jinyi exited the call screen to check — Xu An had called her about twenty times.

Jinyi understood how she felt and told Xu An everything Huo Qi had done to her. Xu An went silent for a few seconds on her end, then cursed under her breath, “Fuck, she actually did something like that…”

Xu An seemed to not want to dwell on Huo Qi. She asked, “Then what? A whole day and night — you were out for a whole day and night?”

    Jinyi said, “…No.”

She was still trying to figure out how to tell Xu An without being too embarrassed when a notification popped up at the top of her screen — an email.

Jinyi tapped it open casually, thinking it was work-related — but what she saw made her heart go cold instantly, cold sweat breaking out on her back. She scrambled out of bed and ran downstairs in a panic.

    The email read:

【Did you forget what happened these past few years, including it?】

The image showed a cat. That cat was already dead — and it had died horribly, so horribly…

Most importantly, it looked almost identical to Xiao Yu…
