The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 2
by Little PandaYearning Day and Night
Jiejie, take me home
Jiang Jinyi and Jiang Youwan had no blood relation. After Jiang Youwan’s true identity was exposed, she was revealed to be nothing more than a friend’s daughter whom Jiang Ningshu had brought home and raised.
Yet Jiang Youwan always called herself her older sister. To outsiders, she was the picture-perfect sister, granting her younger sister’s every request and spoiling her to the point of absolute lawlessness. Even later, when the younger sister turned against her, viewed her as an enemy, and hurled vicious words at her, Jiang Youwan still managed to do everything a sister should doβand even the things a sister shouldn’t.
Jiang Jinyi had always been able to sense Jiang Youwan’s special treatment toward her. In the past, she had enjoyed it as a matter of course, because this was her sister. But soon after, when she learned of her true identityβwhen she discovered the true face beneath that glamorous shellβshe felt only disgust and repulsion.
She had tried to expose Jiang Youwan many times before, but no one believed her. Everyone thought Jiang Jinyi was just making a scene over nothing. Jiang Ningshu hadn’t believed her either, and in the end, met an untimely end, dying with eyes wide open in grievance1.
April was a beautiful month. Neither too cold nor too hot, the temperature was comfortable and pleasant. Yet, all of Jiang Jinyi’s misfortunes occurred right at this time.
Not long ago, Jiang Jinyi’s mother, Jiang Ningshu, had been suspected of murder and absconded to avoid punishment. While fleeing, she was fatally involved in a car crash, her eyes unclosed in death.
Jiang Jinyi had known nothing of this. It wasn’t until the day before Jiang Ningshu’s burial, while she was busy preparing for an art exhibition, that she heard the news from her assistant.
It was quite laughable, really. Four years ago, acting out of spite toward her mother, she had applied to a university in a city far, far away from Luo City. For four years, she hadn’t returned home once, nor had she made any contact. She had been trapped in a cold war with her mother, stubbornly insisting that she wouldn’t come home unless Jiang Youwan was kicked out.
She had been constantly forcing her mother to make a choice: was it going to be her, or Jiang Youwan?
Even though the answer had already been glaringly obvious four years ago.
Jiang Ningshu had refused to believe the biological daughter she had raised for eighteen years, choosing instead to believe a twenty-four-year-old outsider she had taken in.
Jiang Jinyi truly found this world exceptionally absurd and laughable. Even though she still received birthday gifts and greeting texts from her mother every year, those were nothing more than a scrap of pity spared in her free time. Jiang Ningshu had poured all her energy into that outsider, Jiang Youwan.
This year, that scrap of pity had yet to arrive. Could she not even be bothered to put on a show anymore? Jiang Jinyi had thought her mother had completely forgotten that she still had a biological daughter in this world. She never expected that as she waited and waited, what she would end up waiting for was her mother’s funeral.
By the time she hurried back to Luo City, the funeral was already nearing its end. In the Jiang family cemetery, rows of people dressed in black stood solemnlyβrelatives and friends who had come to see Jiang Ningshu off on her final journey.
“Xiao Jin, the dead cannot be brought back to life. Please, restrain your grief,” Jiang Youwan said softly by her ear.
Her tone was worriedβworried for Jiang Jinyi. Jiang Jinyi didn’t see even the slightest hint of sadness on Jiang Youwan’s face over her mother’s death.
Murder, absconding to avoid punishmentβthese words should never have been attached to Jiang Ningshu’s name. Jiang Jinyi didn’t believe it either.
Just who was this woman beside her? Why had she impersonated ‘Jiang Youwan’ to enter the Jiang family back then?
Did she have anything to do with Jiang Ningshu’s accident?
Jiang Jinyi had long known that her motives for coming to the Jiang family had been impure from the very beginning.
But no one wanted to believe her. They only believed Jiang Youwan.
Naturally, Jiang Jinyi didn’t show Jiang Youwan a pleasant expression. It was just that this older sister cared about her far too much. When she came to the bar to drown her sorrows in alcohol, the woman had even tracked her down. Did she really care this much about her younger sister?
Jiang Jinyi’s gaze was indifferent. She casually pulled a tissue to wipe her lips. Sitting on the sofa, she tilted her head to look at her. “Just who are you?”
Jiang Youwan pressed her lips tightly together. Jiang Jinyi smiled and continued, “I exposed you four years ago. You’re not Jiang Ningshu’s biological daughter. You’re not my sister. Why did you come to the Jiang family? Enduring humiliation and bearing heavy burdens here for so many yearsβwhat exactly is your scheme?”
“Do you covet the Jiang family’s wealth that much?”
“But even if that were true, Jiang Ningshu valued you so much. Once she died, the inheritance would naturally all be yours. Did you really have to kill her?”
“Are you truly that heartless2? So impatient that you wouldn’t consider even a shred of the kindness she showed you.”
“Or could it be that before you murdered her, she discovered your black heart? Tell me, do you think she regretted it before she died?”
Jiang Youwan parted her lips and said softly, “No.”
No?
Jiang Jinyi raised an eyebrow. “No?”
“No to what? No, you didn’t kill her?”
“Or was I wrong about your thought process for killing her?”
Jiang Youwan looked at her, only caring that she would get a stomachache from drinking too much. “Xiao Jin, is there any meaning in saying these things?”
Jiang Jinyi smiled captivatingly, flashing bright eyes and white teeth. She nodded. “True. It’s meaningless. Jiang Ningshu is already dead anyway. No matter what, Jiang Corporation belongs to you now. Saying it out loud really is meaningless.”
Jiang Jinyi thought for a moment, then added, “So your goal wasn’t Jiang Corporation. It was just to make Jiang Ningshu die, wasn’t it?”
“You’re an enemy who came for revenge?”
Jiang Youwan remained silent, making it impossible to tell if the words had hit the mark.
Jiang Jinyi scoffed. “You spoiled me so much five years ago. When I ignored you, you looked so heartbroken. Soβ¦ will you give me whatever I want?”
Jiang Youwan answered quickly, seemingly without the slightest hesitation. “Yes.”
What if I want you to die? Jiang Jinyi sealed that sentence away in her heart.
“Then Jiejie, take me home. I haven’t been home in a long time.”
“β¦All right.”
Go home? Having Xiao Jin come home was something Jiang Youwan had desperately wished for over the past four years.
The driver got out and opened the rear door. Jiang Youwan tried to support her, but Jiang Jinyi shook her off in disgust and buckled her own seatbelt.
She furrowed her brows in pain. She had always hated alcohol to begin with.
The driver in the front seat was a Beta. Unable to smell the Omega pheromones flooding the cabin, he asked, “Miss, are you seated securely? Are we heading home, orβ¦?”
“Home.”
Before Jiang Jinyi could speak, the person beside her beat her to it.
Seeing that Jiang Jinyi didn’t object, the driver revealed a faint, relieved smile. “Understood. Going home.”
This was the car Jiang Jinyi found the most comfortable to ride in. Even the interior decorations hadn’t been changed; it was exactly the same as before Jiang Jinyi had run away from home.
Jiang Jinyi narrowed her eyes, turning her face toward the window. Outside, the street views were both unfamiliar and familiar. She hadn’t been back in four years.
Because of Jiang Youwan, she had been away from home for four years.
