    Feeling a Little Wronged

“Miss Jiang, I feel a little wronged.”

Jiang Jinyi turned around. For once, Jiang Youwan’s face betrayed her nervousness, embarrassment, and fear. Her eyes were closed, yet she looked as though she were about to cry, the outer corners of her eyes tinged with red.

Seeing her like this was the only thing that gave Jiang Jinyi a sense of vindication.

“What is it?” Jiang Jinyi asked, despite knowing the answer.

“Please don’t leave me here, okay?” Jiang Youwan was utterly helpless. Her voice was weak, pleading and soft.

She couldn’t see anything; she could only grasp at her sole lifeline.

But her lifeline was a wicked child. Seeing her nervousness, she instead curled her lips up in delight, saying in a sweet, saccharine voice, “Then apologize to me again.”

Jiang Youwan could only admit her fault, her lips parting: “I was wrong.”

“Mm…” Jiang Jinyi was still unsatisfied. “You have to call me Miss Jiang.”

The crisp chime of the bell mingled with her slightly hoarse voice: “Miss Jiang.”

    “I was wrong.”

Jiang Jinyi asked, “Then what do you want me to do now?”

Jiang Youwan replied, “Take me back.”

She had apologized, and she had called her Miss Jiang, but Jiang Jinyi deliberately refused to grant her wish. She muttered petulantly, “Isn’t it fine to just leave you here? Why should I take you back? Do you really want to go back and be an eyesore that badly? Do you truly think you are the Eldest Miss of the Jiang family, entitled to share everything of mine and break my things?”

“I didn’t break Miss Jiang’s vase,” Jiang Youwan said weakly.

    “Why should I believe you?”

Jiang Jinyi’s tone was imperious, carrying a hint of amusement. She was clearly asking this on purpose.

Jiang Youwan fell silent, a somewhat wronged expression slipping onto her face.

Jiang Jinyi let out a soft laugh. Shaking the chain in her hand, she slowly drawled, “Mother doesn’t even care about you. She dumped you on me and ran off on a business trip. Tell me, don’t you look just like a little puppy she gave me? The kind of puppy that begs its master to take it home, the kind that can’t bear for its master to leave even for a moment.”

As she spoke, Jiang Jinyi reached out and hooked a finger under her chin, stroking her jaw now and then as if teasing her own pet dog, her eyes brimming with playful malice.

The girl’s fingers were soft and cool. The dense, tingling sensation spreading across her chin made Jiang Youwan extremely uncomfortable, yet she didn’t hate it; her body merely trembled involuntarily.

The collar rubbed against the wound on the back of her neck. It hurt a lot, but her attention wasn’t on the pain; it was entirely focused on every spot where the girl’s hand caressed her cheek.

“Don’t you agree, Youwan-jiějie?” Jiang Jinyi caught her unusual reaction. Her expressive peach-blossom eyes flickered with wicked mischief as she teased her.

“I have to admit, that kind of puppy is quite cute.”

Jiang Youwan docilely yielded to her touches, so submissive there wasn’t a trace of danger about her.

The young girl was overbearing, pressing closer with every step. She knew full well she was bullying her own jiějie.

“You want to go home with me…” Jiang Jinyi was like a siren from the deep sea. Mimicking the tone of heroines playing with romance on television, she said, “Then beg me.”

She tossed out this line lightly, the ending note trailing up, tugging at one’s heartstrings.

Her fingertips turning white and eyelashes trembling, Jiang Youwan parted her red lips. “I beg you.”

Jiang Youwan’s posture of surrender made one think that, in some fleeting moment, she had been completely bewitched, willing to sink to the bottom of the sea and become her dog.

“I beg you, please don’t leave me here all alone, okay?” she pleaded, her voice gentle and cautious.

“First,” Jiang Jinyi began, “from now on, you are not allowed to call yourself my jiějie. Second, you are not to touch anything that belongs to me. Third, you may only call me Miss Jiang. You are nothing but a pitiful wretch crashing at my house, do you understand?”

“If you break any of my things again, I really will throw you out onto the street.”

    “I understand…”

Only then did Jiang Jinyi pull her hand back from her shoulder in satisfaction. Her mood had actually improved quite a bit, and she didn’t forget to tease her with a nasal hum. “Why is your face so red?”

    Jiang Youwan remained silent: “…”

Jiang Jinyi’s dimples showed as she smiled. She gave the chain in her hand a tug. “Let’s go.”

Just then, a car drove in from outside. Hearing the sound, Jiang Jinyi looked over. She recognized it; it was Secretary Song’s car. Song Lian stepped out of the vehicle and walked toward them, her eyes fixed in their direction. Like a child caught doing something bad by an adult, Jiang Jinyi felt a flicker of guilt.

“Miss, what is going on here?”

Jiang Jinyi pouted and shook the chain in her hand. She muttered, “She broke my vase. I’m giving her a little punishment.”

Song Lian frowned. When the butler called her earlier, asking her to come discipline the Miss, she had known something was amiss.

She glanced thoughtfully at Jiang Youwan, then turned and ordered the butler to summon all the servants. As the servants lined up in a row, Song Lian asked sharply, “Who broke the Miss’s vase?”

The female alpha’s aura was incredibly oppressive. The servants didn’t dare to breathe too loudly, keeping their heads bowed as they exchanged nervous glances.

“Even if you don’t confess, I have plenty of ways to find out exactly who did it. If you admit it now, I can spare you a trip to the police station. But if you continue to deny it… you all know how expensive the Miss’s vase was. I wouldn’t mind making you lose everything you own.”

Song Lian had worked for the Jiang family for many years. Her image had always been that of someone ruthless, impartial, and true to her word. As soon as she said this, the culprit naturally panicked. Aunt Cai was terrified. Her voice trembling, she confessed, “I’m sorry, Miss. I broke the vase. I was afraid—I was afraid you would fire me, so I had wicked thoughts. I’m sorry, I’m truly sorry…”

The moment Aunt Cai confessed, Song Lian turned to look at Jiang Jinyi. She saw Jiang Jinyi still holding onto that chain, her cheeks puffing out slightly, her expression somewhat awkward.

Song Lian let out a soft sigh. Walking up to Jiang Jinyi, she said, “Miss, in the future, remember to come to me to investigate things clearly before you punish the wrongdoer.”

With a single glance, Song Lian could tell that Jiang Jinyi hadn’t bothered to investigate the matter at all before deciding that Jiang Youwan was the one who broke her vase. Using a public pretext to exact personal revenge was a bit too obvious, and far too childish.

    Jiang Jinyi mumbled sullenly, “Oh…”

“Hurry up and undo this thing. Take her to wash her face. You can’t bully her like this anymore, understand?”

Jiang Jinyi lowered her eyes, her long, curled eyelashes hiding her expression. Her rosy lips puckered into a pout; anyone who didn’t know better would think she was the one who had been wronged.

“I know. Secretary Song, hurry up and go do your work.”

Song Lian cast a glance at Jiang Youwan standing behind her, gave a nod, and went to deal with Aunt Cai’s matter.

Jiang Jinyi turned back around. It was rare for a breeze to blow through the hot, dry summer morning, but a few strands of Jiang Youwan’s hair fluttered in the wind. She turned her head slightly. Even though her eyes were closed, Jiang Jinyi couldn’t shake the feeling that she could see her currently embarrassed expression.

Truth be told, when she turned her face to the side, the hyacinth that Jiang Jinyi had drawn on her cheek looked exceptionally beautiful.

Jiang Youwan seemed to be able to tell that she had lowered her head. Reaching out to tug at the corner of her shirt, she said softly, “Miss Jiang, I feel a little wronged.”

The timeline shifted to five years later.

After listening to that male omega’s tearful complaints at the restaurant, Jiang Jinyi had left and returned to the hotel. Her thoughts still lingered on whether or not Jiang Youwan liked her.

She still wasn’t entirely certain if Jiang Youwan liked her. If she really did like her, then…

A trace of coldness flashed through Jiang Jinyi’s eyes, her disgust completely undisguised.

    So disgusting. Truly disgusting.

Her phone rang, and a message popped up.

Xu An: 【Eldest Miss Jiang, how’s the investigation going? Is the murderer really Jiang Youwan?】

Jiang Jinyi replied: 【I haven’t found anything out yet, but I have a feeling it’s her.】

Jiang Jinyi thought for a moment, then sent another message: 【I think she likes me.】

Unexpectedly, Xu An wasn’t very surprised: 【You only just figured that out?】

Jiang Jinyi: 【You think she likes me too?】

Xu An: 【You might not believe me if I tell you, but I even used to ship you two. Wow, such delicious orthopedics1.】

    Jiang Jinyi: 【…】

【Can you not gross me out?】

Xu An: 【Haha, just kidding, Eldest Miss. So, do you want to know if she really likes you or not?】

Jiang Jinyi sent a question mark over.

Xu An explained: 【You should know that if an omega has someone they like, regardless of whether that person is an omega or an alpha, that person’s pheromones can induce that omega’s heat.】

【If your pheromones can induce her heat, it proves that she really does like you. And if she really likes you, wouldn’t manipulating her be the easiest thing in the world?】

Jiang Jinyi stared at the message and remained silent for a long time. Suddenly, she got up and changed into a different outfit—a loose, oversized white dress shirt. She went to the bathroom, struck a few sexy poses in front of the mirror, and snapped a few exceptionally provocative photos.

Then, she unblocked Jiang Youwan after four years.

And sent her a few messages.

【168 cm, 48 kg, SS-class omega. Hyacinth scent. My heat is almost here. Want to hook up?】

    【Location: xx Grand Hotel.】

Very quickly, ‘the other party is typing…’ appeared at the top of the chat box with Jiang Youwan. Jiang Jinyi immediately unsent the messages, texted a quick “Wrong person,” and cleanly and decisively blocked her once more.

    1. 'Orthopedics' (gǔkē) is Chinese internet slang for incestuous or pseudo-incestuous relationships. It originated from a viral online story about a brother whose legs were broken by his father after he was caught with his biological sister, requiring a visit to the orthopedics department.
