The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 10

Wen Ye’s smile stiffened slightly, and she cast a surprised, questioning look at Jiang Jinyi. Jiang Jinyi’s brows were already knit in anger. “What are you doing here?”
“Has Xiao Jin forgotten what she gets like when she’s drunk?” Jiang Youwan looked at her, her eyes curving into a smile as she spoke with pointed implication. “When we were youngerβ¦ does Xiao Jin not remember?”
What she got like when she was drunk⦠when they were younger?
The temper Jiang Jinyi had been about to unleash was choked back by Jiang Youwan’s words, inevitably plunging her into a memory.
That memoryβ¦
It was simply too humiliating.
In less than a few seconds, not just her ears, but her entire face turned bright red. Snapping back to the present, she flew into a humiliated rage. “Jiang Youwan!”
She was angry. So angryβa fierce little kitten. Would she bite?
Jiang Youwan couldn’t help but chuckle as she slipped the wine glass from her hand. “Be good. We aren’t drinking anymore.”
Her tone was gentle and attentive, acting as if the incident from a few nights agoβwhen Jiang Jinyi had violently forced her to drinkβhad never happened at all.
“What do I get like when I drink?” Jiang Jinyi was so angry she laughed instead. Without shying away from the people around them, she loudly retorted, “And what do you get like when you’re drunk? Jiang Youwan, do you not remember? It was just a few nights ago.”
Jiang Jinyi glared at her and cursed in a low voice, “Bitch.”
Bitch? Was this the most malicious insult Xiao Jin could think of?
It actually wasn’t so terrible. Then a bitch she would be.
Perhaps because she had endured it so often, Jiang Youwan wasn’t deeply hurt by Jiang Jinyi’s words. At least right now, Xiao Jin’s attention was entirely focused on her.
She was truly jealous whenever Xiao Jin looked at anyone else, smiled at anyone else.
She realized she had become entirely twisted.
As long as she could speak to Xiao Jin, as long as she had Xiao Jin’s attention, as long as Xiao Jin stood there looking only at her.
Without a trace of anger, she said, “Say whatever you wish, Xiao Jin. I am your jiejie, so naturally, it is my place to keep you in line.”
“Jiejie? Never mind the fact that you aren’t my jiejie at allβeven if you were, I don’t need a jiejie breathing down my neck.” Jiang Jinyi fiercely rebuffed her. “I have a girlfriend now. I don’t need you looking after me. You don’t have the right.”
Sure enough, Jiang Youwan’s expression shifted. “Girlfriend?”
“That’s right, I have a girlfriend!” Jiang Jinyi glanced at Wen Ye beside her, shooting her a meaningful look, then brushed past Jiang Youwan to take Wen Ye’s hand. “I’ve liked her since I was youngβyou know this. Now she’s my girlfriend. If I drink with her, is it any of your business?”
Wen Ye only paused for a moment before playing along, offering Jiang Youwan a polite smile.
Jiang Youwan’s gaze fell on their joined hands. Her pupils darkened, her brows knitting tightly together. The surrounding air pressure instantly dropped, growing so suffocatingly heavy it was hard to breathe.
After a long moment, her lips parted in a smile. “Did you just get together today? Does your girlfriend know that you kissed jiejie a few nights ago?”
“How can you be so shameless?!”
She spoke in a tone that brokered no refusal. “Without jiejie’s permission, you are not allowed to date.”
Jiang Jinyi absolutely loathed such brazenly controlling words. She snatched the wine glass back from Jiang Youwan’s hand, tilted her head, and downed the contents in one gulp, defiant and arrogant. “I will date whoever I want, and I will drink whatever I want. I don’t need you hovering over me.”
Jiang Youwan looked at her in silence, dark currents surging within her heart.
Wen Ye raised an eyebrow.
What a delicate atmosphere. These two sisters were far from simpleβ¦
Jiang Jinyi turned her head and whispered intimately to Wen Ye, “Darling, wait here for me for a moment.”
With that, she cast a disgusted glare at Jiang Youwan, turned on her heel, and headed for the restroom.
Leaving the two of them standing in place, Jiang Youwan watched her leave.
“President Jiang. A pleasure.” Wen Ye studied the woman in front of her and offered a polite greeting.
Jiang Youwan paused for a moment. “A pleasure, Miss Wen.”
Her tone was modest and polite, yet freezing cold, completely devoid of warmth.
“My apologies, Miss Wen. My younger sister is still young and doesn’t yet understand what it means to be in a relationship. She will be breaking up with you. I hope you can be understanding.”
Wen Ye pursed her lips in silence.
Giving her one final, warning look, Jiang Youwan turned and walked away.
“Cough, cough⦔ Jiang Jinyi braced herself against the bathroom sink. That glass of wine had been far too strong for her, especially downing it in one gulp. She had forced herself not to react in front of Jiang Youwan, but in truth, her stomach was violently churning. She desperately needed to throw up.
Just then, the sound of footsteps approached from outside. Jiang Jinyi turned her head just as the bathroom door swung open. Jiang Youwan lifted her gaze, locked eyes with her, and walked inside.
She was wearing a cheongsam, every step she took swaying with a captivating grace. Her expression was gentle, and her narrow, alluring eyes were now tinged with genuine worry.
A trace of darkness flashed through Jiang Jinyi’s eyes. She straightened up, looking somewhat wretched, and demanded coldly, “What are you doing here? Where is my girlfriend? Did you come to laugh at me?”
Jiang Youwan turned a deaf ear to her frosty words, her voice soft. “Xiao Jin shouldn’t try to be brave when you clearly can’t handle alcohol.”
She added, “And Xiao Jin shouldn’t be so impulsive about dating, either. How many days have you even known Wen Ye?”
“Don’t pretend you don’t know. Wen Ye has been my idol since I was young. I’ve always liked her. Furthermore, is it really your place to dictate what I should and shouldn’t do?”
What could she do? Jiang Jinyi was determined to use her words to hurt her.
Jiang Youwan seemed to have already grown numb to her biting words. Clutching a blister pack of stomach medicine, she held it out to her, saying gently, “Of course I have to look after you. Here is some stomach medicine. Take a pill, alright?”
Jiang Jinyi sneered.
Jiang Youwan’s eyes darkened slightly, but she didn’t look away.
Actually, I don’t want to be your jiejie at all, she said in her heart.
“What act are you putting on? You aren’t even a member of the Jiang family to begin with, yet you go around telling everyone I’m your younger sister. Are you even worthy? Have you used the name ‘Jiang Youwan’ for so long that you actually think your surname is Jiang?”
Jiang Jinyi was standing barely half a meter away from her, yet she continued to close the distance until their breaths tangled together in a silent contest of wills. Catching the faint smell of alcohol mixed with the scent of hyacinths, Jiang Youwan discovered that perhaps she didn’t hate alcohol that much after all.
Jiang Jinyi mocked her wantonly. “Putting on the act of being such a good jiejie in front of everyoneβdon’t you think you’re cheap?”
“And you still want to control who I date? What right do you have to say my girlfriend isn’t good enough? No matter how bad she might be, she’s still better than you. Any random person pulled off the street would be better than you!”
Every word provoked Jiang Youwan. She knew that Xiao Jin was already well aware of her true feelings for her. Still, Jiang Youwan’s expression remained perfectly calm, betraying no cracks in her armor.
Suddenly, Jiang Jinyi violently shoved her. Jiang Youwan slammed roughly back against the cold tile wall, letting out a pained grunt.
The next second, the hand that wasn’t holding the medicine was seized and pinned high above her head. Jiang Youwan was completely trapped, her slender frame caged in by Jiang Jinyi’s body.
The distance between their bodies vanished as they pressed tightly together. Pinned entirely under Jiang Jinyi’s control, the posture looked exactly as if she were about to be forcefully kissed. Their breaths collided and intertwined, intimately close.
Jiang Youwan craved this kind of intimacy more than anything, but at this moment, she desperately wanted to escape. She knew exactly what Jiang Jinyi was about to do.
“Don’t move!” she warned Jiang Jinyi, struggling and narrowing her eyes. It was the first time she had used such a fierce tone since their reunion.
Naturally, Jiang Jinyi refused to listen. She swiftly snatched the white jade Buddhist beads from Jiang Youwan’s wrist, then finally released her and stepped back. Holding the bracelet up to inspect it, she gave her a wicked, malicious smile. “You actually kept this. Just how much do you like me? Or did you keep it just to disgust me?”
Jiang Youwan’s eyes darkened, her voice turning slightly hoarse. “You gave it to me, so it belongs to me. Whether I wear it or not is my own freedom.”
It was given to her by Jiang Jinyi. It truly was.
Years ago, when Jiang Youwan had undergone a major surgery with a fifty percent failure rate, there happened to be a temple near the hospital. Jiang Jinyi had gone there to pray for the bracelet herself.
Jiang Jinyi examined the white jade Buddhist beads in her hand, her tone slow and deliberate. “This Miss has never begged anyone for anything in my entire life. The only time I ever pleaded for a favor was when I went to that temple to pray for this string of beads for you.”
Hearing this, Jiang Youwan’s heart trembled. But in the very next second, Jiang Jinyi’s voice turned ice-cold. “And it is the biggest regret of my entire life.”
The momentary fluttering in Jiang Youwan’s chest was violently extinguished, as if doused by a basin of freezing water. Her black pupils grew even darker.
Jiang Jinyi’s eyes brimmed with profound hatred as she stared her down, enunciating every word. “You truly disgust me, Jiang Youwan. Do you have any idea how repulsive I find you? The moment you appeared, everything in my life went wrong! You killed my mother, and you destroyed the life I was supposed to have!”
“Your very existence is the greatest curse of my life, and yet you still dare to like me?” Jiang Jinyi sneered.
Jiang Youwan’s brows knitted tightly together, her expression gradually turning ice-cold. Yet Jiang Jinyi continued to pour oil on the fire, completely disregarding Jiang Youwan’s feelings. “You liking meβthat is what disgusts me the most. Do you know that? Your affection is utterly nauseating.”
The moment the words left her mouth, Jiang Jinyi gave a violent yank. The string of white jade Buddhist beads snapped in her hands. With a sharp clatter, the beads showered onto the hard tile floor, bouncing and rolling in every direction.
Broken. Torn apart by her own hands.
The sound of the beads clattering against the tiles echoed in Jiang Youwan’s ears, eroding her sanity bit by bit. Her heart seized with spasmodic aches, the pain so intense it felt suffocating. She furrowed her brows, her jaw pulled taut. Her frighteningly dark eyes remained fixed on the scattered beads as her hands balled into tight fists, marshaling every ounce of her strength to suppress her surging emotions.
“Jiang Youwan, I hate you. I will never, ever like you.”
Hatred. Disgust.
Her affection only made her sick.
The April weather was not cold, yet the atmosphere in the room felt as if it had dropped below freezing, chilling the air solid.
It froze her heart, completely icing over the deep, unspoken devotion she had secretly harbored for all these years.
Xiao Jin rarely ever treated her well. Xiao Jin loathed herβso much so that she had abandoned the home she’d lived in for eighteen years just to get away from her.
Jiang Youwan thought she had already grown accustomed to her biting insults. But now, looking at the pure hatred burning in Jiang Jinyi’s eyes and listening to the most vicious words spill from her lips, she still felt the sharp sting of pain. It felt like being sliced apart by a knife.
And yet, she could not bear to look away.
She simply couldn’t bear it.
Jiang Youwan pursed her lips slightly and stared back in silence. Hidden just beneath the deep, gloomy surface of her eyes was a gaze of infinite, greedy yearning.
With a twisted desperation, she just wanted Jiang Jinyi’s gaze to remain on her a little longerβeven if that gaze held nothing but hatred.
If she found her repulsive, then so be it. If she hated her, then let her hate. Hadn’t it always been like this anyway? Since she had already been despised by her for the past four years, she might as well let her hate her a little more. At least that hatred would be deeply, unforgettably carved into her bones.
At least when Xiao Jin hated her, she still occupied a place in her heart.
If she hated her a little more, she would only think about exacting her revenge. That way, her gaze would never linger on anyone else.
The corners of Jiang Youwan’s lips curved into a faint smile. Her eyes were dark and unfathomable as she parted her lips and spoke softly. “So what?”
“Just as you said, Xiao Jinβit was I who made Jiang Ningshu a criminal. It was I who seized the Jiang Corporation. So what?” Jiang Youwan enunciated every single word, her tone growing increasingly ruthless as she went on.
“What exactly can you do about it, Xiao Jin? Can you really defeat me? I have limitless methods at my disposal. All you can do is watch helplessly as I swallow the Jiang Corporation whole and sit back to enjoy everything that was supposed to be yours.”
