The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 15
by Little PandaJust Acting Spoiled
“I’ll blow on it… and it won’t hurt anymore.”
Jiang Corporation Building. Jiang Youwan leaned back in her executive chair, facing the massive floor-to-ceiling windows. Her silver-rimmed glasses lay abandoned on the desk. She kept her eyes tightly shut, massaging the space between her brows, utterly exhausted.
The incident was spreading like wildfire online, sparking all sorts of wild rumors. Jiang Youwan had issued a series of clarifications to manage the fallout. Stabilizing public opinion and securing the Jiang Corporation was one goal, but the most crucial objective was making absolutely sure Xiao Jin didn’t see any of it.
The current Xiao Jin was as pure and blank as a sheet of white paper. She needed to seize the initiative and completely monopolize her trust.
Secretary Lin knocked and entered with a stack of documents to report. “President Jiang, we found out who did it. It’s President Su.”
Jiang Youwan’s knuckles paused against her brow. She opened her eyes, her pupils terrifyingly dark and deep. She only had to knit her brows slightly to make Secretary Lin shudder.
When a person was angry, their pheromones could not be hidden, serving to intimidate enemies and vent their emotions.
An omega’s pheromones were generally soft, weak, and easily bullied, lacking any real deterrent power even when angry. But Jiang Youwan was different.
Secretary Lin was an alpha. Logically speaking, an omega’s pheromones should have been completely harmless to her. Yet at this moment, Jiang Youwan’s overwhelming presence left her legs feeling weak. Her only instinct was to flee this office.
To think an omega could actually be this powerful, Secretary Lin couldn’t help but think. There was likely no alpha in existence capable of taming her.
“Su Yi?”
Suppressing her discomfort, Secretary Lin nodded. “It is indeed President Su.”
“That accident was almost certainly orchestrated by people President Su sent. They tampered with the chandelier and waited until the Second Miss was in position before making their move. Thank goodness the Second Miss was so lucky…”
Thank goodness the Second Miss was so lucky.
Those words pierced straight through Jiang Youwan’s heart.
The ache in her chest made it impossible to breathe, and her hatred expanded infinitely.
Jiang Youwan’s trusted aides had been guarding the door to the hospital ward the entire time. She knew the area like the back of her hand, kept informed of the slightest rustle of grass in the wind. She had just reached the parking garage when she received a call from her bodyguards.
They reported that a girl was causing a scene, stubbornly demanding to see Jiang Jinyi.
Jiang Youwan hung up the phone. She drove faster than she ever had before.
Xu An looked exceptionally petite in front of the two burly bodyguards. She shouted angrily at them, “I’m a friend of Jiang Jinyi, the Second Miss Jiang! Let me in this instant! I need to confirm her condition right now, or else I’m calling the police!”
“I really will call the police!”
No matter how much Xu An shouted and threatened, the two bodyguards remained entirely unmoved, standing like a pair of statues.
Heaven knew how anxious Xu An was. She had barely stepped foot in her own home when Jiang Jinyi got into an accident. And with the events that had transpired just before that, it was hard not to suspect that she was the victim of Jiang Youwan’s deliberate retaliation.
Xu An had agonized over it for several nights. Unable to overcome her worry for Jiang Jinyi, she finally tracked down her hospital, only to be blocked outside by these two immovable giants.
Exasperated, Xu An planted her hands on her hips. “Fuck, what is wrong with you people? Are friends not even allowed to visit?”
The bodyguards ignored her. Xu An kept cursing, but the ward’s soundproofing was excellent; Jiang Jinyi wouldn’t be able to hear a thing. Once she had cursed until she ran out of energy, she simply waited by the door. A short while later, a cold, clear voice drifted from down the corridor. “What happened?”
Xu An froze. As the clicking of high heels grew closer down the corridor, her hands and feet gradually turned ice-cold.
She remembered that voice. It was Jiang Youwan.
“Miss Xu.” Jiang Youwan stopped a short distance away, maintaining her distance.
Xu An turned around somewhat stiffly to look at her, gulping hard.
Jiang Youwan was completely expressionless. It was impossible to tell whether she was angry or not, yet her mere presence was enough to strike fear into anyone’s heart.
This was especially true of her pheromones—a highly oppressive scent of datura1 flowers.
But what was worth noting was that she was carrying a strawberry cake in her hand, an item completely incongruous with her aura.
This woman was so terrifying…
Heaven knew how terrified Xu An was of her. After all, she was the mastermind behind the spectacle at the banquet. If Jiang Youwan ever found out, she would absolutely skin her alive.
Xu An let out an awkward laugh. “Jiang… Jiang-jiejie…”
Jiang Youwan returned a gentle, amiable smile. “Miss Xu still remembers me.”
Jiang Youwan’s smile was absolutely flawless. Had Xu An not known exactly what kind of person she truly was, she really might have been fooled by her gentle facade in this moment.
“Of course I remember! Whenever I used to go over to play with Xiao Jin, you were always there.” Xu An pointed at the door to the ward, smiling as she said, “I heard Xiao Jin is sick, so I wanted to come see her.”
Xu An put on a pleading expression. “I’m really worried about her.”
Jiang Youwan smiled faintly. “There’s no need.”
“Xiao Jin is no longer in any serious danger, and she should still be sleeping right now. I will take good care of her, so there’s no need for Miss Xu to trouble herself.” Offering one last smile, Jiang Youwan turned to head into the ward.
Xu An frowned. Subconsciously stepping forward, she grabbed her arm. “Jiang-jiejie—”
Jiang Youwan paused, glancing back at her. Her pupils were terrifyingly pitch-black. Xu An froze as a surge of cold dread shot from the soles of her feet straight to her brain.
Stunned, she hurriedly yanked her hand back.
Looking down, she realized she had grabbed her so frantically and forcefully that her manicured nails had scratched Jiang Youwan’s skin. The fair, tender skin was now flushed red, the mark glaringly obvious.
Fuck! Xu An silently cursed herself.
“I-I’m sorry…”
Jiang Youwan withdrew her gaze and turned to enter the ward. The bodyguard opened the door for her, and Xu An took advantage of the opening to shout inside, “Jiang—Mmph!”
The bodyguard hoisted her over his shoulder and carried her out.
Stepping into the ward, Jiang Youwan smelled the sweet, soft scent of hyacinth2 flowers, and her tense body finally relaxed.
Whether woken up by the commotion or not, the person lying in the hospital bed shifted before opening her eyes and propping herself up into a sitting position.
Jiang Youwan’s heartbeat abruptly accelerated. It wasn’t until she met Jiang Jinyi’s pure, innocent gaze that her suspended heart finally settled back into place.
Xiao Jin still hadn’t recovered her memories.
“You’re awake?”
“Mhm~” Jiang Jinyi rubbed her eyes, letting out a soft, unconscious whimper from her throat.
“It’s so noisy…” Having been woken up, her grogginess flared, and she knitted her brows in annoyance.
Jiang Youwan sat on the edge of the bed and placed the strawberry cake on the nightstand. “Are you still uncomfortable? Does your head still hurt?”
“It’s uncomfortable.” Jiang Jinyi was completely unguarded around her. Like a kitten that had retracted its sharp claws to expose its soft paw pads, she looked at her with wet, dewy eyes and softly complained, “The bed here isn’t soft at all.”
Having just woken up, Jiang Jinyi’s voice was sweet and whiny. Soft and delicate, it sounded exactly like she was acting spoiled. “It was so noisy just now. It woke me up…”
“A psychiatric patient ran over just now, screaming and shouting. But it’s okay, I’ve already chased them away,” Jiang Youwan explained.
A psychiatric patient?
Jiang Jinyi furrowed her brows, grumbling with disdain, “This hospital is so unreliable, letting patients run around however they want. The bed isn’t soft either, it’s way too hard. This blanket is uncomfortable, and even the air smells bad.”
“I want to go home…” If she stayed here any longer, she would definitely be miserable.
The corners of Jiang Youwan’s lips curled up slightly. She really was the familiar Xiao Jin.
Xiao Jin had been pampered since childhood. Her body was delicate, and so was her temperament. She had always received the best of everything, cherished and cared for like a tender flower raised in a greenhouse. She really didn’t know how much hardship and grievance she had suffered out there on her own these past few years.
She couldn’t help but want to raise her hand and rub Jiang Jinyi’s head, but she forcefully restrained herself, turning instead to stiffly tuck in her blanket.
She couldn’t act so out of character; it would only scare Xiao Jin.
“Because the incident happened so suddenly, they brought Xiao Jin to the nearest hospital. We’ll transfer Xiao Jin to the best hospital a bit later, okay?”
Jiang Jinyi’s gaze drifted down following her movements, catching sight of the obvious scratch marks on her arm. “Did that psychiatric patient attack you just now?” she asked worriedly.
Jiang Youwan blanked for a moment, a half-beat slow to realize what Jiang Jinyi was talking about. Pursing her lips, she nodded, a hidden smile dancing in her eyes. “Mhm. She was a little fierce…”
Jiang Jinyi’s voice softened even further as she asked, “Does it hurt?”
“A little,” Jiang Youwan said softly.
As Jiang Youwan deliberately put on a pitiful expression, Jiang Jinyi fell silent. Gently grasping her wrist, she lowered her head and blew a soft breath over the reddened patch of skin.
“I’ll blow on it… and it won’t hurt anymore.”
