The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 31
by Little PandaLike a Clinging Bird
Soft and sweet.
Inside the largest art museum in Bei City, across an exhibition hall spanning nearly a thousand square meters, hundreds of paintings were displayed. The solo exhibition, themed 《Sea of Flowers》, had commenced as scheduled.
On the opening day, Jiang Jinyi wore a form-fitting, sleeveless fishtail dress that accentuated her curves to the fullest. Her face was adorned with a delicate, enchanting touch of makeup that served as the crowning jewel to her beauty; her eyes tilted upward at the corners. Supple and elegant as a tender branch, she was a natural-born beauty.
There was no telling how many alphas would feel their pheromones stir restlessly at the sight of her.
Not wanting anyone to realize she had amnesia, Jiang Jinyi maintained a cold and aloof expression, perfectly matching her previous persona as a haughty young lady.
That was, until Wen Ye appeared at the entrance of the exhibition hall.
Wen Ye?
Jiang Jinyi thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. Only when Wen Ye spotted her and met her gaze with a smile did she confirm that the woman was indeed Wen Ye.
Wasn’t Wen Ye abroad? When did she return to the country?
!!!
Draped in a crimson dress and sporting bold, captivating makeup, Wen Ye smiled even wider upon seeing Jiang Jinyi’s dazed expression. She walked over, her tone incredibly casual. “We meet again, kiddo.”
“We…” Jiang Jinyi was stunned. “…Have we met before?”
And why did Wen Ye call her “kiddo” right off the bat? Wasn’t she twenty-three years old now? That was hardly small.
Wen Ye was also taken aback. “Miss Jiang, you don’t remember?”
Only then did Jiang Jinyi snap back to reality and remember she had amnesia. “I remember, I remember.”
To think that her self from four years later actually knew Wen Ye, and was even close enough to be called “kiddo”!
Jiang Jinyi tried to play it cool, but the corners of her mouth curled upward uncontrollably.
Suppressing her confusion, Wen Ye raised her glass. “Congratulations. May everything go smoothly with your exhibition.”
“Thank you.”
Jiang Jinyi tried hard to suppress her excitement, but her voice lilted up at the end.
“Now that I’m here, Miss Jiang seems quite happy?” Wen Ye asked with a chuckle.
“Of course.” Jiang Jinyi could hardly hide her excitement. “Did I never tell you? You… you’re my idol.” By the time she reached the last word, she felt a bit shy herself, her voice softening considerably.
“You did tell me.”
To think that such a willful young lady, known for her intense loves and hates, was actually her fan—and even showed a uniquely adorable, dazed side in front of her. Wen Ye found it quite fascinating.
“Speaking of which…”
“Hmm?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to ask—when did you first start liking me?”
Jiang Jinyi was taken aback, the rims of her ears flushing slightly as she averted her eyes. “W-why are you asking so bluntly?”
“Pfft,” Wen Ye teased. “It’s not like I’m asking about romantic interest. What’s there to be shy about?”
Squelching her bashfulness, Jiang Jinyi said seriously, “Probably about six years ago. I was only twelve back then—mmph!” Her eyes went wide as saucers, and she hurriedly slapped a hand over her mouth, realizing she had said the wrong thing.
Oh, no!
Jiang Jinyi watched Wen Ye’s expression closely as she tried to form an explanation, stammering, “I mean… when I was twelve, which was about… eleven years ago.”
Wen Ye stared at her for a moment. “Oh~”
The topic shifted. The reason Wen Ye had hesitated to speak further just now was because she had sensed an exceptionally sharp gaze.
Someone was watching her.
Wen Ye casually glanced in that direction. The secretary’s gaze was a warning—warning her about what could be said and what could not.
That seemed to be someone from Jiang Youwan’s side—her secretary.
Was Jiang Jinyi constantly being monitored by Jiang Youwan?
A flicker of amusement danced in Wen Ye’s eyes.
So the entanglement between the two of them isn’t over yet. How intriguing.
…
The exhibition hall grew increasingly crowded. Most of the attendees were wealthy young masters and socialites from Bei City’s high society, alongside artists, screenwriters, directors, and successful figures from various fields. There were also many who had traveled from out of town. Their conversations were filled with praise for Jiang Jinyi’s paintings. She should’ve been thrilled, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing.
An exhibition she’d prepared so meticulously, with so many beautiful paintings… she just really wanted Jiang Youwan to see them.
She had mentioned it to her before, but she was buried in work, completely unable to pull away from her duties out of town, and thus couldn’t come.
Countless times in the past, she’d fantasized about hosting an art exhibition through her own merits, showing her mother and letting her know just how amazing she was.
Jiang Jinyi had truly, desperately wanted to experience that swelling sense of pride and accomplishment.
But now, her mother was gone, and her jiejie couldn’t come either.
Why were the people she cared about most both absent? An eighteen-year-old Jiang Jinyi wasn’t like her twenty-three-year-old self, and her spirits inevitably began to sink.
Jiang Jinyi retreated to the restroom alone, pulling out her lipstick to touch up her makeup in front of the mirror.
“Miss Jiang.”
A clear, gentle male voice suddenly sounded from nearby. Jiang Jinyi instinctively looked up. Through the mirror, she saw a man in a white suit walking in from the restroom entrance. He was reasonably handsome, and he offered her a smile through the glass.
Jiang Jinyi scrutinized him for a moment. Having no idea who he was, she casually replied, “Hello.”
“Congratulations, Miss Jiang. You truly are remarkable, achieving such artistic success at such a young age. Your paintings are breathtaking.”
Hearing her artwork praised would put anyone in a good mood. Jiang Jinyi offered a faint smile. “Thank you.”
With her thanks offered and her makeup touched up, she turned to leave, but Liang Wei quickly called out, “Miss Jiang.”
Jiang Jinyi stopped. “Is there something you need?”
Liang Wei smiled in a refined, gentlemanly manner. “I’d like to discuss something with you regarding Jiang Corporation.”
Discuss Jiang Corporation?
Jiang Jinyi knitted her brows. Looking the man up and down, she found the situation rather laughable. “You want to discuss Jiang Corporation with me? Discuss what, exactly? And who are you?”
Her tone shifted instantly, dripping with disdain.
Confronted with her contempt, Liang Wei merely offered a gracious smile. He had long known that the Second Miss of the Jiang family had a fierce temper. He’d run into her a few times before; she was incredibly arrogant and spoiled, never even deigning to look at him properly. Not just him, either—she never bothered to flatter or put on a polite facade for anyone. In fact, he rather appreciated this trait of hers. Men always loved a stark contrast, and he imagined that the sight of her yielding and softening up would be absolutely tantalizing.
Though she was dramatic and quick-tempered, she was undeniably gorgeous. That was especially true of those supercilious peach-blossom eyes of hers, which were haughty yet alluring, striking a fire in anyone who looked at her.
Back when Jiang Ningshu was alive, Jinyi had the capital to be willful. Now that Jiang Ningshu was dead, the entire Jiang family had fallen into Jiang Youwan’s hands. Everyone in the outside world knew that her relationship with Jiang Youwan was incredibly strained, to the point where the two sisters had completely cut ties.
Having offended so many people in the past and now falling out with her own jiejie, the Second Miss’s current predicament was undoubtedly quite difficult.
Yet, it was easy to see that she desperately wanted to reclaim the Jiang Corporation.
So why hadn’t she learned to rein in her temper a bit?
“Second Miss Jiang, I mean no harm. My name is Liang Wei, the eldest son of the Liang family. We’ve met a few times before.” Sporting a warm, gentle smile, Liang Wei retrieved a business card from his breast pocket, held it between two fingers, and offered it to her.
Liang Wei stepped a bit closer, intentionally releasing his pheromones to draw her attention. For an alpha, releasing pheromones like this was akin to a male courting a mate—letting the other person catch a whiff of their pleasing scent to boost their favorable impression.
However, the cheap quality of his pheromones, mixed with an overly strong cologne, only struck Jiang Jinyi as pungent and repulsive.
Jiang Jinyi didn’t accept his card. She took a step back, her eyes guarded. “If you have something to say, just say it. Why are you leaning in so close? Do you actually think your pheromones smell good? Are you releasing this much on purpose just to choke me?”
Liang Wei’s expression stiffened, but he quickly flashed another smile. “What kind of scent would you consider good then, Miss Jiang? That’s a bit hurtful to say. After all, I’m an A-class alpha.”
Only A-class, yet look at how arrogant he is.
“Stinky is stinky, and it smells like cow manure,” Jiang Jinyi retorted. “Can’t you rein it in? Don’t you know that alphas who recklessly broadcast their pheromones are incredibly impolite?”
Cow… manure?
Just how repulsed did she have to be to mistake a grassy scent for cow manure?
Liang Wei’s face grew rigid, but he forced another magnanimous smile, consoling himself with the thought that a little feistiness was fine—roses always had thorns.
He dialed back his pheromones and, keeping his skin thick, went straight to the point. “It doesn’t matter if we don’t know each other yet; we can get to know each other now. Our Liang family has partnered with the Jiang family on several projects in the past. We know what Chairman Jiang was like, and we know that her favorite was you, the Second Miss. Jiang Youwan is nothing more than an outsider. Chairman Jiang must have wanted to leave Jiang Corporation to you.”
“Our Liang family is on the same side as you. Perhaps we could cooperate to deal with Jiang Youwan and investigate—”
“What are you talking about?” Jiang Jinyi was flabbergasted by his audacity. “Since when is it your place to pass judgment on our family affairs? Mr. Cow Manure, did you forget to take your medicine before leaving the house today?”
Mr. Cow Manure?
In this world, there was no greater insult to an alpha than telling them that their scent was rancid.
Liang Wei’s face darkened, but he quickly managed to force his features back into place, though his voice dropped a fraction. “Second Miss Jiang might not know this, but our Liang family is also one of the leading enterprises in Luo City. If not for Chairman Jiang’s accident, our two families would’ve embarked on another partnership very soon—a much more intimate one.”
Jiang Jinyi had no desire to know what kind of partnership it was. Yet, Liang Wei mistook her silence for skepticism regarding the Liang family’s strength. He asserted confidently, “Second Miss Jiang, you can absolutely place your trust in our Liang family. In fact, our families had planned a marriage alliance. If Chairman Jiang hadn’t met with that fatal accident…”
Liang Wei tugged his lips into what he believed was a charming smile. “For Chairman Jiang to willingly entrust you to me as my fiancée shows just how—”
Before Liang Wei could finish his sentence, a splash of water hit him square in the face.
“…”
He froze for a couple of seconds before frantically wiping his face with his sleeve. He glared at Jiang Jinyi, his voice rising uncontrollably. “Are you insane?!”
“Sobered up yet?” Jiang Jinyi retorted. His brain had to be completely fried for him to spew such delusional nonsense.
Jiang Jinyi shook the water off her hands. Liang Wei’s shouting had already drawn a crowd, and people were beginning to look on.
“Today is This Miss’s exhibition. Did you come here on purpose to ruin it, or just to disgust me? Take a look in the mirror before trying to curry favor with me. A self-righteous, puxin1 man like you—I’d find it greasy even if you were just wiping my shoes.”
Jiang Jinyi was genuinely incensed by his words, mocking him in front of everyone. She didn’t care about the opinions of onlookers, but Liang Wei did—his public image was of paramount importance.
This time, he’d completely lost face.
As a crowd gathered, Secretary Lin rushed over upon hearing the commotion and dispersed the onlookers near the restroom. Jiang Jinyi cast one final, disgusted look at him and walked out.
Wiping his face, Liang Wei glared at her retreating back and hissed through gritted teeth, “Jiang Jinyi, you’re an absolute lunatic!”
Someone quietly handed him some tissues and murmured a soft warning, “Honestly, Young Master Liang, she’s hosting an exhibition. You shouldn’t pick a fight.”
“I was having a perfectly pleasant conversation with Miss Jiang about her art earlier. Why did you have to go and step on her landmines? Look at you now, getting splashed. Don’t you know what her temper is like?”
Liang Wei: “…”
Who could’ve predicted that even with her biological mother dead and her left without anyone to rely on, she could still be this arrogant? He’d kindly offered a partnership, and not only was she ungrateful, she’d humiliated him in front of everyone by splashing water on his face. What was that all about?
Never in his life had anyone spoken to him like that, let alone humiliated him so thoroughly.
In the past, when Jiang Ningshu was still alive and Jiang Jinyi was the most pampered young lady of the Jiang family, he would’ve swallowed his anger and endured it. But now, she was absolutely nothing. She’d even made an enemy of Jiang Youwan. With no one to back her up, why on earth should he keep tolerating her?
Why should he still be afraid of her?
Oh, she liked throwing water, did she? Well, so did he!
Liang Wei wiped his face clean. With a dark expression, he unscrewed the cap of a soap dispenser from the vanity, filled it with water, and marched back into the exhibition hall in a rage.
“Hey, Eldest Miss Jiang is here!” someone in the hall suddenly cried out.
“Wow, why is she here? Did she come to ruin Jiang Jinyi’s event? I remember last time, Jiang Jinyi ruined her banquet too. Is she here to return the favor?” others whispered.
Hearing that Jiang Youwan had arrived, Liang Wei grew even more excited.
Who did Jiang Youwan hate most right now? It was none other than Jiang Jinyi. She was probably here to cause trouble. That was perfect. He’d splash water all over Jiang Jinyi’s face first, and when Jiang Youwan saw it, she might even form a favorable impression of him.
He was definitely going to ruin this exhibition!
Clutching the water-filled bottle, Liang Wei aggressively pushed through the crowd, only to witness Jiang Jinyi naturally walking over to Jiang Youwan and taking her hand. Catching sight of him holding the bottle to splash her, she seemed to shrink back in fright, wrapping herself around Jiang Youwan’s arm. Her fingers played mindlessly with the White Jade Buddhist Beads on her sister’s wrist, the very picture of a clinging, sweet little bird.
She even spoke up to complain, “That bastard picked on me…”
She was blatantly exploiting her backer’s power.
Not only was Liang Wei stupefied, but every single onlooker was also left utterly dumbfounded. Off to the side, Xiao Qin, who had rushed over intending to shield Jiang Jinyi from the water, froze in her tracks. She squeezed the coat in her hands, lowered her head, and quietly stepped back.
When… when did these two sisters make up?
Jiang Youwan’s narrow, captivating yet sharp eyes pinned Liang Wei. Her red lips parted slightly. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Her tone was flat, yet it carried an indescribable, ruthless edge.
The author has something to say:
Xiao Jin: Jiejie is here, I’m not afraid of anyone!
Jiejie (gratified): Good girl.
Author: Sigh, I sort of want to release a second update, I just don’t know if my readers’ words are sweet enough.
