    Only Relative

“It is all covered in the tear stains Xiao Jin rubbed on it.”

“Mmh…” Jiang Jinyi’s nose bumped against something soft—softer than cotton, incredibly fragrant, and warm.

Jiang Youwan gently rubbed her head, as if smoothing her fur, from time to time murmuring coaxing words in her beautiful voice. Jiang Jinyi felt as though she had turned into a cat, finding it so comfortable to be petted.

It was a wonderful, indescribable feeling, and also a little embarrassing. Gradually, the embarrassment was replaced by comfort.

Instead of a cat’s purr, her sounds turned into soft hums as she proactively nuzzled into her embrace, finding a very comfortable position and closing her eyes.

Now that Mother was gone, jiejie1 was her only relative.

The only embrace that could offer her solace.

A tear slipped from the corner of her eye. Under Jiang Youwan’s soothing, she quickly fell asleep.

It was not until the doctor came to knock on the door for rounds that Jiang Youwan gently patted the back of Jiang Jinyi’s head. “Xiao Jin, the doctor is here for rounds. Get up first.”

Jiang Jinyi was patted awake. A bit displeased, she nuzzled against her twice before still rising from her embrace, her swollen eyes sleepy and heavy with moisture.

“Be good. Let the doctor examine you first.”

Jiang Youwan got off the bed and said, “Tell the doctor to wait a moment before opening the door.” She pointed at her body. “I’m not presentable like this.”

Jiang Jinyi looked over and saw that her pajamas were disheveled, and the fabric on her chest still had wet stains that had not dried yet.

With her eyes curved, Jiang Youwan smiled slyly, yet said with seeming helplessness, “It is all covered in the tear stains Xiao Jin rubbed on it.”

    “…”

Her tone was leisurely, carrying a hint of teasing. Jiang Jinyi froze for a moment, feeling inexplicably embarrassed, and urged her to leave quickly.

Jiang Youwan went into the bathroom. By the time she came out, Jiang Jinyi had already opened the door herself, and the doctor was still conducting the examination. After finishing, the doctor said there were no major issues with her body and she could be discharged after another two or three days of observation.

After the doctor finished the rounds, Jiang Jinyi went to wash up. She had already looked at herself last night, yet she still could not resist studying her current face and figure.

The face that had originally been tender and carried baby fat had now fully matured, showing a melon-seed face2 and peach-blossom eyes3, with thick, long, curling eyelashes and the outer corners of her eyes sweeping upward, exuding countless charms.

Dressed in a hospital gown with a bandage on her forehead, she looked lovely and fragile, a blend of pure innocence and sensual desire.

There was not a single flaw to be found.

She was very satisfied with this face, and equally pleased with her current voluptuous figure, yet she remained gloomy, unable to feel happy.

A dazed sense of unreality washed over her, and as she thought, her tears began to flow. She was unwilling to accept that her mother had already passed away, unwilling to accept that it was already four years later, and even felt that the person in the mirror was not herself.

This was just a dream, surely. It had to be a dream; Mother had not really left.

Jiang Jinyi raised her hand and slapped herself across the face.

She did not dare use too much force, but the pain still made her frown, and a red mark immediately appeared on her fair, tender face.

She raised her hand to wipe away her tears and left the bathroom. Jiang Youwan was standing by the door of the room, talking with a woman dressed in a black suit—likely a subordinate.

“President Jiang, this was found in the Second Miss’s car.” The subordinate handed a plastic package to Jiang Youwan. Seeing the item inside, Jiang Youwan’s gaze froze, and she reached out to take it.

“I believe this is the item you wanted to find.”

Jiang Youwan lowered her eyes, staring blankly at the single Buddhist bead in the plastic package in her hand.

That day at the banquet, in the restroom, she had searched for this bead like crazy, yet could not find it no matter what. It turned out it had been taken by Xiao Jin.

So back then, how much did Xiao Jin hate her?

Secretary Lin closed the door and left. Jiang Jinyi stood where she was, and as Jiang Youwan looked back, their gazes collided.

Jiang Youwan was wearing a pale pink V-neck lantern-sleeve T-shirt paired with high-waisted wide-leg trousers, her slightly curly long hair casually tied into a low ponytail—gentle and mature.

Outside the window, a light breeze brushed past the treetops. Jiang Jinyi saw her curve her eyes in a smile.

Jiang Jinyi did not know that, at this moment, Jiang Youwan’s aching heart received a fortunate relief.

She walked over to Jiang Jinyi. “Are you hungry, Xiao Jin?”

Jiang Jinyi shook her head, looking utterly listless. Her eyes were red, dim, and spiritless, and she was incredibly dejected.

“I don’t want to eat.” She returned to the bed, sitting propped up, her gaze hollow.

Jiang Youwan caught the red mark on her face. Frowning imperceptibly, she had the doctor bring two ice packs.

Her eyes were swollen, and her face had been slapped red by herself.

How could her heart not ache for her?

Jiang Youwan held her by her shoulders, letting her lie down on her lap as she helped apply the ice packs to her incredibly swollen eyes. She said softly, “Xiao Jin needs to cheer up quickly. Before the accident happened, you were constantly preparing for your art exhibition. You worked so hard for so long, so it can’t just fall through like this. We must organize it again; everyone is looking forward to it.”

“Xiao Jin is already grown up now, and there are many things waiting for you to do.”

Jiang Jinyi’s body visibly stiffened, but she did not speak.

Jiang Youwan understood Jiang Jinyi. In her life, the only things that could be considered important, aside from her mother, were her paintings.

Jiang Youwan also knew that among those important things, there seemed to be no place for herself.

Jiang Jinyi was an art student; she loved painting and growing flowers. In the courtyard of the Jiang family villa and in her Art Studio, various flowers were displayed, many of which were precious varieties that Song Lian had brought back from abroad for her. Jiang Jinyi meticulously nurtured and cared for them.

When the temperature was not too high, Jiang Jinyi would move her painting equipment to the backyard to paint, capturing her flowers and everything else she wished to paint.

If she was thirsty, someone would bring her water; if she was hungry, a top-tier chef would cook for her; if she was bored, her girlfriends would come over to play with her. If she was in a bad mood, a private jet would fly her anywhere in the world to enjoy herself. When she felt like spending money, she would head to the mall, and if her spirits rose, it was a common occurrence for her to buy out an entire display counter.

If she wanted to date, she only had to beckon and people would come to love her—be they Omega, Alpha, or Beta, as long as she was willing.

The life of the Eldest Miss4 was colorful, carefree, surrounded like the moon by stars, and thoroughly spoiled.

Living happily to the age of eighteen, there were rarely times when things did not go her way, and she had never suffered a single setback.

One morning five years ago, a luxury sedan had parked outside the Jiang Corporation villa, and a tall woman had stepped down from the driver’s seat. She was dressed in a V-neck top paired with a long skirt, her long hair reaching her waist. Wearing light makeup and sunglasses, she looked both cool and gentle.

Seeing her, the servants hurried out to welcome her. The woman walked into the house with familiarity, showing not the slightest restraint. Her posture was very casual, as if she had already been here many times.

“Miss Qin, our young lady is upstairs and likely has not woken up yet. Why don’t you wait in the living room for a moment while I go up and wake her?”

The Jiang family servants were extremely respectful toward Qin Yue, making it easy to see that she was an acquaintance of Jiang Jinyi’s.

Qin Yue nodded. “Go wake her quickly.”

The servant hurried upstairs. Qin Yue sat lazily on the sofa in the center of the hall, leisurely looking around the villa.

This villa was not considered too large, but every corner was filled with the scent of luxury. A painting hung casually on the wall was worth tens of millions, and a single tile beneath her feet was equivalent to several months’ salary for an ordinary person.

A faint smile curved the corner of Qin Yue’s mouth, and a certain greed was held back in her eyes, on the verge of spilling over.

After waiting for about twenty minutes, Jiang Jinyi finally came down from the second floor.

Jiang Jinyi casually wore a light green tube-top strap dress with floral borders. Paired with her delicate, cold face and her innate pride and nobility, she looked like a princess untouched by the mortal world.

Qin Yue rose from the sofa and smiled at her. “Xiao Jin, did you miss me?”

“A little,” Jiang Jinyi said flatly.

It was only a little, but Qin Yue was not discouraged in the slightest. There were not many people who could make Jiang Jinyi say she missed them even a little.

“I did not come to find you some time ago because I was hospitalized due to my differentiation. I stayed there for over half a month, but I am fine now.”

“Differentiation?” Jiang Jinyi looked at her, reflexively beginning to sniff the air. “What did you differentiate into?”

“Care to guess?” Qin Yue walked closer to her and began to release her pheromones. A rich scent of roses flooded Jiang Jinyi’s nose—aggressive and not gentle in the least. Jiang Jinyi knitted her brows, knowing that Qin Yue had likely differentiated into an Alpha.

Qin Yue kept observing Jiang Jinyi’s reaction, her pheromones surging even more intensely. Moreover, it was not a normal release, but one with a distinct purpose…

The air was filled with that aggressive Alpha pheromone from Qin Yue’s body.

Alphas were naturally more dominant than Omegas, and the higher the rank of the Alpha, the more attractive they were. Qin Yue had differentiated into an A-class Alpha, which was already very rare, accounting for only five percent of the country’s population, and could be said to be highly sought-after.

To an Omega, it was a fatal attraction.

Qin Yue slowly approached her, looking down at her, the distance between them now less than half a meter. She asked softly, “Does it smell good?”
