The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 5
by Little PandaPiqued Interest
All Evidence That Jiang Youwan Likes Her
Jiang Youwan bit the inside of her lip. The shame of having her secret exposed left her with nowhere to hide, unbearably humiliated.
Xiao Jin was taking things too far, but because this cruelty was directed at her, she felt she could handle it.
She could bear it, could accept itβeven pathologically enjoy it.
Look at them. She and Xiao Jin were so intimate, right here in her meeting room.
Without the barrier of her glasses, the intimacy between them only deepened. If Xiao Jin didn’t let her go soon, she wouldn’t be able to hold herself back.
Jiang Youwan forced a relaxed smile. “Wasn’t Xiao Jin going to eat in my office? What would you like? How about some pork stir-fried with onions?”
Pork stir-fried with onionsβJiang Jinyi’s absolute favorite in the past.
Jiang Jinyi released her and stepped back, a look of pure disgust in her eyes. “You are not allowed to call me by that name.”
With the physical restraint gone, her body felt much lighter, yet it felt like something was missing. Stripped of the right to use her pet name, Jiang Youwan felt a pang of sorrow. Her voice dimmed. “Do you still remember the way? Let Secretary Lin take you. I still have some business to attend to.”
Jiang Jinyi arched an eyebrow. “What business?”
“I’m meeting President Su of Su Corporation to discuss a collaboration,” Jiang Youwan admitted openly. She knew exactly what Jiang Jinyi was going to say. “Xiao Jin, you know the company still needs to operate.”
Jiang Jinyi didn’t run in business circles and had no idea who this President Su of Su Corporation was. She stared at Jiang Youwan, hiding her calculations deep in her eyes, before turning on her heel and leaving a long moment later.
Jiang Jinyi pushed open the meeting room door. An assistant stepped up to greet her, saying respectfully, “Second Miss, please follow me.”
Jiang Jinyi was gone, but the scent of her hyacinth pheromones still lingered in the air. Jiang Youwan stood silently, supporting her weight against the edge of the table. A moment later, she raised a hand to adjust her collar, only to realize that Xiao Jin had torn off one of the buttons. Her collar hung open, revealing a faint glimpse of her delicate collarbone.
Secretary Lin walked in. “President Jiang, President Su is already waiting.” The secretary inadvertently caught sight of her neck and paused, offering a gentle reminder. “President Jiang, it appears there is a red welt on your neck from being choked. Would you like me to get some ointment for it?”
A red mark?
Jiang Youwan frowned. Secretary Lin produced a small mirror and handed it over. A vivid, striking red welt marred the side of her pale, swan-like neck. It was from just now, when Xiao Jin hadβ¦
“No ointment is necessary.”
Her fingertips brushed lightly over the skin, stroking it as if it were a precious treasure. The faint scent of hyacinths seemed to hover right beneath her nose.
Jiang Youwan’s features softened into an expression of profound attachment. It was something Xiao Jin had given her. Whether good or bad, she wanted to preserve it for as long as possible.
Jiang Jinyi was led to Jiang Youwan’s office. It was spacious and minimalist, exuding a cold, ascetic vibe.
Ascetic?
Only on the surface. Who could have guessed she was the sort of woman who would flush red from being humiliated?
Jiang Jinyi sat down in Jiang Youwan’s chair with unbridled audacity. The desk was piled high with documents, seemingly all related to work. The only thing that lent the space a touch of vitality was a potted succulent sitting near the edge.
This succulentβ¦
Jiang Jinyi frowned, slipping into a memory. She suddenly recalled that she had been the one to give it to her.
She had been in her final year of high school back then, and their relationship had not yet fallen apart. Jiang Youwan always picked her up and dropped her off at school. Because the company was much closer to the school than their home, and the lunch break for high school seniors was short, Jiang Youwan would always bring Jiang Jinyi to the company so she could rest in her office.
At the time, Jiang Jinyi had complained that the place was far too oppressive and utterly devoid of life, so she had brought over a succulent she had raised herself from home.
She hadn’t expected Jiang Youwan to keep it alive all the way until now.
Why? Was she just too lazy to throw it out? Or had she simply never paid it any mind? But the succulent had clearly been meticulously cared for.
Jiang Jinyi reeled in her wandering thoughts. Her mission this time was to search Jiang Youwan’s computer while she was away, to see if she could dig up any of her secrets.
But the computer was password-protected.
What could Jiang Youwan’s password possibly be?
Jiang Jinyi narrowed her eyes, pondering for a moment. She tried Jiang Youwan’s birthday. Unsurprisingly, it was incorrect.
She tried a few other likely numbers. None of them worked.
Ten minutes had already passed since she arrived, and there was no telling when Jiang Youwan would return. At a complete loss, she casually punched in her own birthday. She tapped the enter key without a shred of hope, only for the computer to unexpectedly unlock.
A flicker of astonishment surged through Jiang Jinyi’s heart.
Why?
Before she could dwell on the question for too long, she swiftly scanned the desktop and began clicking through various files. She hadn’t found anything of value by the time she was halfway through. Just then, the office door clicked open from the outside. Jiang Jinyi froze, lifting her head to look toward the entrance.
The person walking in was none other than Jiang Youwan.
She was carrying a bag in her handβfood, by the looks of it. Seeing Jiang Jinyi looking through her computer, she didn’t show a hint of surprise or annoyance. She merely smiled as she approached, cleared a small space on the desk, and set the food down. As she slowly unpacked the containers, sure enough, every single dish was one of Jiang Jinyi’s favorites.
“Eat first, then you can keep looking. Alright?” Jiang Youwan said softly, her gaze resting gently on her.
The savory aroma of the meal teased Jiang Jinyi’s taste buds. She swallowed, then tilted her head up to ask, “You aren’t surprised that I opened your computer?”
Jiang Youwan leaned back against the edge of the desk, a faint smile on her lips. “Xiao Jin has always been very clever. What is there for me to be surprised about?”
She was simply far too calm.
Jiang Jinyi frowned. If there really was something incriminating on this computer, would she still be able to act this unbothered?
Catching onto her suspicion, Jiang Youwan gently nudged the food forward. “If you don’t eat now, it’s going to get cold,” she reminded her.
Jiang Jinyi stretched her lips into a mocking smirk. “I can’t possibly finish all of this. Why don’t you eat with me?”
Jiang Youwan sighed in helpless amusement. “Is Xiao Jin afraid I poisoned the food?”
“Of course I am.” Jiang Jinyi didn’t hold back, shooting her a freezing, sarcastic glare. “A vicious ingrate1 like you could murder my mother. Who’s to say you won’t kill me off too, just to tie up loose ends?”
Perhaps she was simply used to hearing such things; Jiang Youwan wasn’t stung by the venom in her words. She chuckled. “If I wanted to harm Xiao Jin, I certainly wouldn’t do it at the company. Nor would I use such a clumsy method. We do live in a society governed by law, after all.”
With that, she leaned over, scooped up a spoonful of the meat broth, and brought it to her lips. After tasting it carefully, she gave her verdict: “Very savory, and the temperature is just right.”
“If you wait much longer, it won’t taste nearly as good.”
Disgust churned in Jiang Jinyi’s gut; she had absolutely no desire to eat anything this woman offered. Suddenly, a knock echoed from the door. Jiang Youwan called out for them to enter, and a male employee walked in, clutching a stack of documents.
He was dressed in professional office attire. His skin was fair and translucent, his features carrying an unmistakable air of frailty. A light dusting of makeup graced his face. One look was enough to tell he was a male omega.
He was a designer who had just been transferred to headquarters recently. His name was Ji Yu.
Jiang Jinyi barely paid the newcomer any mind, but the man himself froze the moment he took in the scene before him.
Sorrow visibly bled onto his face.
Jiang Youwan turned her head to look at him, her brow furrowing. “What is it?”
Her voice was frosty, her expression equally glacialβa stark contrast to the tender indulgence she had shown just moments prior. Ji Yu looked even more devastated. He bit his lip in grievance, his eyes rimmed with red as if tears might spill out at any second.
His voice was incredibly weak. “President Jiang, th-these are the newest design drafts I’ve drawn up. I justβ¦ I just wanted to ask you to look them over⦔
“Leave them there,” Jiang Youwan said.
“Alright⦔ Ji Yu walked over with his head bowed and carefully set the blueprints down on the desk. He covertly raised his eyes to peek at Jiang Jinyi. His gaze was a volatile mix of resentment and jealousy. Without another word, he slinked out of the room.
Jiang Jinyi: ???
Jiang Jinyi had no idea what that was about, but she felt incredibly weirded out.
However, she didn’t take it to heart. She couldn’t care less about Jiang Youwan’s private affairs.
“Even if I were starving to death, I still wouldn’t eat your food. I’d lose my appetite,” Jiang Jinyi tossed out with naked revulsion before sweeping out of Jiang Youwan’s office.
She left Jiang Youwan standing rigidly in place. The CEO stared at the meal that Jiang Jinyi hadn’t so much as touched. Her eyes dimmed, and a long moment later, a soft, self-deprecating snort escaped her.
After leaving the office, Jiang Jinyi found a restaurant near Jiang Corporation that she used to frequent and ordered two dishes.
She was actually quite hungry, but there was no way she was eating anything provided by that venomous, snake-hearted woman.
The food wouldn’t arrive immediately, so she leaned back in her chair, lost in thought. Suddenly, the sound of muffled sobbing drifted over from the next table. She casually turned her head for a glance, and an eyebrow shot up in surprise.
The person crying was the very same male omega who had brought the blueprints to Jiang Youwan’s office. He was wiping away tears while a friend sat beside him, offering comfort.
Her interest piqued, Jiang Jinyi sat quietly and eavesdropped on their conversation.
“Don’t be sad. They haven’t gone public yet, have they? You still have a chance. Didn’t you say President Jiang takes pretty good care of you?” the friend soothed him.
Ji Yu shook his head, sobbing even harder as he choked out, “Nine times out of ten, that’s exactly what it is. That woman rode in President Jiang’s private elevator and even drove President Jiang’s car! President Jiang even allowed her to eat right at her desk. You don’t understand how gentle President Jiang’s eyes were when she looked at herβ¦ But the second she looked at me, her gaze turned freezing cold. Even if they aren’t together yet, President Jiang definitely likes her!”
Indignation flared through his misery. “How could I lose to a woman? President Jiang really doesn’t understand the benefits of men. Male omegas are way more seductive than female omegas, okay?!”
His friend hurriedly echoed his sentiments from the sidelines.
Jiang Jinyi, however, sat frozen in a daze.
She could tell perfectly well that the person this man claimed Jiang Youwan liked was none other than herself.
The person Jiang Youwan likedβ¦
Liked?
Jiang Jinyi’s mind spun. The words were like a key breaking a seal in her mind, sending her into a spiral of utter disbelief.
Jiang Youwan liked her?
Setting her computer password to Jiang Jinyi’s birthday. Meticulously caring for the succulent she had gifted her for four or five years. And four years ago, picking her up and dropping her off at school regardless of the weather. Nearly losing her own life to save her, exposing herself in the process.
Indulging her without limits, accepting all of her bad temper, and treating her with eternal, unwavering gentleness.
Piece by piece, event by event⦠It was all evidence that Jiang Youwan liked her.
