The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 3
by Little PandaSeeming Surprise
Her reddened earlobes were exposed to her gaze
A few days ago.
After her mother’s funeral, she didn’t return to the Jiang family estate. Instead, she went to see her mother’s former secretary, Song Lian.
When Jiang Jinyi arrived, a woman was already seated in the corner of the café. She had beautiful features and a mature, lingering charm. However, she looked different from how Jiang Jinyi remembered. Instead of a meticulous black women’s suit, she wore a gentle, elegant dress, her long hair pinned up with a hairpin1.
Around forty years old—an age of peak femininity—she exuded a mature elegance from head to toe. She was breathtaking. But this was Jiang Jinyi’s first time seeing her out of a suit, and her aura felt much softer than before.
It was hard to tell that she was an S-class Alpha. Her Brandy pheromones2 were hidden impeccably well.
“Secretary Song,” Jiang Jinyi called out, taking the seat across from her.
Song Lian offered a warm smile. “Miss.”
She noted Jiang Jinyi’s swollen eye sockets, her eyes webbed with red veins—clear signs of crying bitterly and failing to get a good night’s sleep.
“I ordered a glass of milk for you. Drink up; the temperature should be just right now.” Song Lian’s voice was gentle as a spring breeze.
Jiang Jinyi lowered her eyes, gazing at the warm milk resting before her. She picked it up and took a sip.
Song Lian had been Jiang Ningshu’s secretary for over a decade. In Jiang Jinyi’s memories, she had always been a constant presence by her mother’s side.
She could be considered the only person Jiang Jinyi trusted right now.
“Secretary Song, my mother…”
“Xiao Jin, I’ve already resigned. You don’t need to call me Secretary Song anymore,” Song Lian interrupted gently. “From now on, call me Aunt Song.”
True. The person she served was already dead; what need was there for a secretary?
Jiang Jinyi’s eyes dimmed, and she reluctantly changed her address. “Aunt Song, what exactly happened to my mother? Why would she commit murder? How could she have gotten into an accident?”
It was all too coincidental. It felt as though someone had been hunting her down, absolutely determined to force her into her grave.
When Jiang Jinyi spoke those words, Song Lian happened to lower her gaze, her long, curled lashes masking her expression. She slowly lifted her eyes and said, “The murdered woman was a celebrity named Zhao Yan. Not long ago, someone tipped off the police about a corpse hidden in a villa. When the police arrived, they found the actress’s body soaking in a massive aquarium filled with formalin3. And that villa was registered under Chairman Jiang’s name.”
“After sealing off the villa, the police immediately went looking for Chairman Jiang, only to find she had fled.”
“I also find it hard to believe Chairman Jiang would murder someone,” Song Lian continued. “If she were innocent, she could have simply submitted to the investigation. That is indeed a point of suspicion.”
Jiang Jinyi listened quietly, making no sound.
“The police investigated the car crash as well. It truly was an accident. The driver of a large truck was driving drunk and collided with Chairman Jiang’s car. She died on impact.”
At this, Jiang Jinyi’s fists clenched tight, her eyes reddening.
“That case is still under investigation. If Chairman Jiang is innocent, they will naturally clear her name.” Song Lian paused before adding softly, “The dead cannot be brought back to life. My condolences, Miss.”
After Song Lian finished speaking, Jiang Jinyi remained silent for a long time. Then, through a choked sob, she said, “Aunt Song, I will not let the Jiang family fall into the hands of that bastard, Jiang Youwan.”
Jiang Youwan. Everyone from the top to the bottom of Luo City’s business circles knew of her. The right-hand woman to Jiang Corporation’s Chairman, Jiang Ningshu. The ‘Eldest Daughter’ the Jiang family had brought back five years ago. However, less than a year later, Jiang Jinyi had personally unmasked this identity. Her impostor status had been exposed, yet Jiang Ningshu hadn’t driven her away. Instead, she treated her well, publicly claiming the girl was the child of a former friend.
She said calling her the ‘Eldest Daughter’ was an effort to help her live more happily within the Jiang family, and continued to treat her as her own flesh and blood.
Jiang Ningshu had indeed treated her like a biological daughter—pampering her, loving her, guiding her in business, and ultimately letting her take the reins of Jiang Corporation.
She treated her even better than her actual biological daughter.
To the point of keeping her around even at the cost of her biological daughter running away from home.
Song Lian said, “The Jiang family indeed shouldn’t fall into her hands, but Miss, you have no way to prove she was the killer who framed Chairman Jiang.”
“I can’t prove it.” Jiang Jinyi lowered her eyes, murmuring with a faint sob. “But I will find the evidence. I won’t let Jiang Corporation fall into the hands of an outsider.”
Jiang Jinyi did not return to the old Jiang family estate. Her assistant, Xiao Qin, had already arranged her accommodations: a luxury suite in a five-star hotel.
After taking a shower, she lay on the plush, comfortable king-sized bed, thoroughly exhausted, her eyes dull and unfocused.
Her mind was a chaotic mess. The agonizing grief of losing her mother, compounded by an assortment of vexing troubles, threatened to completely overwhelm her.
If none of this had happened, she would currently be preparing for her art exhibition, scheduled to open in Bei City in just a few days.
It was to be a grand exhibition. She had spent nearly a year preparing for it, pouring in almost a year’s worth of strenuous effort.
But now, it had to be shelved, and she had no idea when she would ever have the chance to resume it.
She had contacted a famous private investigator friend in Luo City, but over the past few days, they hadn’t uncovered much useful information.
On the contrary, the deeper they dug, the more it seemed to validate Jiang Ningshu’s guilt.
Her friend discovered that Jiang Ningshu and the murdered celebrity had known each other twenty years ago. Two decades prior, they had been lovers, though they eventually broke up. The reason for their split remained unknown, but based on the timeline, her friend speculated the breakup occurred because Jiang Ningshu had gotten pregnant—and that child was Jiang Jinyi.
In recent years, they had constantly been photographed on dates or staying at the same hotel. A short while ago, they had even been photographed arguing.
An argument, a bitter dispute—and suddenly, the motive for murder was there.
The villa where the actress had been murdered was also under Jiang Ningshu’s name.
And after the actress died, Jiang Ningshu had fled.
In truth, Jiang Jinyi was also acquainted with Zhao Yan. She had met her a few times at various evening banquets. They weren’t close, but Jiang Jinyi remembered her as a celebrity and the eldest daughter of some financial conglomerate. Even in her forties, she remained breathtakingly beautiful.
By the time Jiang Jinyi woke up the next day, it was almost noon. Assistant Xiao Qin brought her breakfast. “Miss, please eat something first.”
Jiang Jinyi, currently getting dressed, had no appetite. She casually tossed out a noncommittal response and headed out the door.
She wore a sexy V-neck crop top paired with black wide-leg trousers, her long black hair cascading loosely down her back. The look was casual yet striking, and coupled with her innate, aristocratic elegance, she drew the eye endlessly.
After the funeral ended, Jiang Youwan had arranged for someone to drive her back. That car was now conveniently parked in the hotel’s underground garage. Jiang Jinyi drove it straight into the most bustling commercial district in Luo City.
The Jiang Corporation headquarters could easily be considered the defining landmark of all of Luo City. It was hard to imagine that everything here had been built single-handedly by one woman—only for half a lifetime of grueling effort to end up in the hands of an outsider.
Jiang Jinyi’s expression darkened as she strode through the main entrance. The receptionist recognized her and, well aware of the Second Miss of the Jiang family’s domineering and arrogant temper, didn’t dare to stop her. The employees turned to look at her in droves. After all, Jiang Jinyi hadn’t been here in four years, so many of the new staff didn’t know who she was, sparking a flurry of whispered gossip.
“Hey, who is she? Such an alluring Omega. She must be SS-class or higher, right?”
“She’s covered in designer brands from head to toe. Could she be a major client?”
“I’ve never seen her. Besides, she doesn’t look like…”
“Wait, isn’t the car she drove here President Jiang’s?”
“???”
As she pressed the button for the fifty-eighth floor in front of the CEO’s exclusive elevator, someone behind her called out a reminder, “Miss, the elevators you can use are over here.”
Jiang Jinyi glanced over but ignored them. When the elevator doors parted, she simply strolled right in, the doors sliding shut amid the crowd’s utter shock.
Unhindered from the first floor, she quickly arrived at the fifty-eighth. The moment she stepped out, she ran right into Jiang Youwan’s secretary. The secretary froze upon seeing her but quickly regained composure, offering a polite smile. “Second Miss, President Jiang is currently in a meeting. You may wait in her office for a moment.”
Jiang Jinyi furrowed her perfectly shaped brows.
“Second Miss.” She absolutely loathed that title.
“In a meeting? I’ll join too. How about that?”
The secretary faltered. “…This…”
Jiang Jinyi intended to head to the conference room, and the secretary couldn’t stop her in the slightest. Marching straight to the conference room, Jiang Jinyi kicked the door open. The meeting was in full swing, but the ongoing discussions instantly ceased as everyone turned to look at her. Jiang Jinyi’s gaze locked onto the profile of the woman sitting in the executive chair.
Hearing the noise, the woman turned her head. Her features were exquisitely striking yet retained a soft femininity, her skin a cold, jade-like white. Her brows were slightly knit. Resting on the bridge of her high nose were silver-rimmed glasses, framing narrow, elongated eyes that were simultaneously alluring and profound—carrying the suffocatingly oppressive weight of an abyssal pool.
A quintessential beauty with striking features.
Yet, the moment she saw the intruder, her frosty expression instantly melted into a trace of tenderness, her eyes curving in a smile.
“Xiao Jin?”
She called out softly, the trailing end of her voice lifting ever so slightly—it sounded like a surprise.
Jiang Jinyi walked over to the executive chair. Staring down at Jiang Youwan, she asked with a smile, “What kind of meeting is this? Are you discussing how to carve up Jiang Corporation?”
Everyone present was startled. Jiang Youwan paused briefly, suppressing the surge of emotion, though she didn’t seem annoyed. Quietly, she slipped off the Buddhist prayer beads wrapped around her wrist and smiled at her. “We are discussing the company’s cash flow.”
Jiang Jinyi let out a disdainful scoff. Propping her hands on the wooden conference table, she leisurely hopped up and sat on the edge, elegantly crossing her legs. She looked down at Jiang Youwan from her high vantage point, then turned to sweep a contemptuous glance over the crowd. “You really are a pack of good dogs.”
Her voice was crystal clear—originally soft and sweet, but now lined with a razor-sharp edge, like an aloof princess addressing lowly servants.
In her eyes, Jiang Youwan was not even as good as a servant.
One of the founding-level senior executives, subjected to such an insult, furrowed his thick brows and scolded, “Second Miss, this is not a place for you to throw a willful tantrum!”
“It seems Chairman Jiang truly spoiled you into absolute lawlessness when she was alive! You have no manners, no shame, spouting absolute nonsense!”
“Director Liu.”
An icy voice cut right through his increasingly agitated reprimand. Director Liu froze. Struck by that cold, imposing glare, he flinched as though physically pierced. His rage was instantly extinguished; he averted his eyes and clamped his mouth shut, resembling a pug that had just been disciplined by its master.
“That will be all for today’s meeting. Dismissed.”
Jiang Youwan rose from her chair. She was slender and tall, her expression faintly cold. No one dared to defy her will; the executives hastily packed up their things and vacated the conference room.
Jiang Jinyi tilted her head up, studying her flawless jawline, and clicked her tongue. “Why is it dismissed already? Are you afraid of letting me know what you’re plotting? Why are you so tyrannical, forbidding me from even listening in on a meeting?”
Jiang Youwan looked back at her, completely ignoring her sarcastic tone, and asked with concern, “Have you eaten? Are you hungry? Should I have my assistant buy some of your favorite food?”
Surprisingly, Jiang Jinyi nodded. “I’m hungry, alright. I want to eat in your office.”
A gentle smile graced Jiang Youwan’s lips. “Of course.”
Jiang Jinyi hopped down from the table. Subconsciously, Jiang Youwan reached out a hand to steady her in case she tripped. The next second, Jiang Jinyi grabbed her by the collar and gave a hard yank. In a flash, their positions were swapped. She dragged Jiang Youwan against the edge of the table and pressed forward, pinning her firmly in place.
The two women were roughly the same height, but Jiang Jinyi’s high heels were taller than hers, naturally giving her a slight height advantage. In terms of posture, Jiang Youwan looked entirely like the one being bullied.
The fragrance of Hyacinth on Jiang Jinyi suddenly flooded into Jiang Youwan’s nose. A familiar yet strangely unfamiliar tremor sent her heart racing and her breath trembling.
Xiao Jin’s pheromones had changed. Beneath the sweet softness, there was now a dominant, aggressive edge—something that made her blush and her heart pound wildly.
Her thighs ached slightly from being pressed so hard, and her collar was still bunched in the girl’s grip, but she didn’t struggle. She allowed herself to be dominated by Jiang Jinyi. Tilting her head up slightly, Jiang Jinyi’s mesmerizing face reflected in her pupils as she couldn’t help but whisper, “Xiao Jin…”
With her free hand, Jiang Jinyi plucked the silver-rimmed glasses right off the bridge of her nose.
“Don’t wear glasses.”
The distance between them was devastatingly close; Jiang Jinyi’s breath brushed against Jiang Youwan’s face as she spoke. Her voice dropped as she said, “You look like a complete elegant scum4 when you wear glasses. It serves as a constant reminder of just how despicable and filthy your heart truly is, do you know that?”
Jiang Jinyi’s tone was vicious, her words dripping with undisguised mockery. Yet, even in this situation, Jiang Youwan’s heart raced under her touch. With no cloak of night to protect her, her reddened earlobes were completely exposed to Jiang Jinyi’s gaze.
The author has something to say:
Pay attention to the timeline: this takes place a few days before the opening plotline, right when Xiao Jin has just returned to Luo City.
The amnesia plot will happen around Chapter 10.
