    Subservient Posture

    Blushing

It was not the first time Jiang Jinyi had used such a tone to say such humiliating things to Jiang Youwan. To be precise, she bullied Jiang Youwan quite often—and she had done so plenty five years ago, too.

Jiang Ningshu only had this one daughter. It could be said that mother and daughter relied solely on each other. Jiang Jinyi was also a frail, precious SS-class omega. Jiang Ningshu had spoiled her since she was a child, resulting in a poor temper and a severe case of princess syndrome1. But she did indeed have the life of a princess. Four years ago, her entire world revolved around her, and she was arrogant and domineering, doing whatever she pleased.

Five years ago, July in Luo City.

“Miss has returned. Wash your hands and come eat.”

“Secretary Song, how come you didn’t go out with my mom this time? Aren’t you usually running around everywhere with her?” Jiang Jinyi swallowed her food and asked casually.

Song Lian was looking down, peeling shrimp. She dipped a peeled piece of shrimp into some sauce and fed it to Jiang Jinyi before finally answering her question. “Chairman Jiang is not on a routine business trip this time, so she doesn’t need me.”

A business trip that didn’t need a secretary? Jiang Jinyi was puzzled. She ate the shrimp offered to her and asked, “It isn’t for work? Then what did she go out to do? And for so long, too.” She dragged out the last syllable, a hint of complaint in her tone.

A rare smile appeared on Song Lian’s serious face. “Is Miss angry because Chairman Jiang couldn’t personally pick you up to bring you home?”

Jiang Jinyi pouted. “I’m not angry.”

She claimed she wasn’t angry, but the anger was written all over her face. How could Song Lian not know her young lady’s haughty, contradictory nature?

Song Lian sighed softly and began peeling another shrimp. After deliberating for a moment, she coaxed, “Don’t be angry, Miss. Actually, Chairman Jiang went out this time to bring back a gift for you.”

“Hm?” She lifted her eyes, her gaze instantly filling with anticipation.

Song Lian fed another shrimp to her lips, coaxing, “Chairman Jiang dotes on you so much, Miss. You can certainly look forward to it.”

Jiang Jinyi bit off the shrimp, blinking, her eyes shining bright.

By the time Song Lian finished keeping Jiang Jinyi company for dinner, it was already eight o’clock. Outside the window, a torrential downpour had begun at some unknown point.

Song Lian opened an umbrella, preparing to leave. Jiang Jinyi was a little worried. “Secretary Song, it’s raining. Why don’t you stay? Don’t you have a room here anyway? You haven’t stayed in it for a while, so I don’t know if the cleaner auntie has tidied it up.”

Hearing this, Song Lian’s expression stiffened for a negligible moment. She shook her head and politely declined. “Thank you for your concern, Miss, but there’s no need. I still have matters to attend to when I get back.”

“You have matters to attend to, then.”

Jiang Jinyi didn’t urge her to stay, letting her do as she pleased.

In Jiang Jinyi’s memory, this seemed to be the longest her mother had ever been abroad. All told, it had been nearly a month before she finally announced her return.

This morning, before her alarm even went off, Jiang Jinyi was woken by a commotion.

    So loud…

Hugging her throw pillow, she rolled over in irritation. She opened her eyes; the sky outside was already bright and completely cloudless.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes, looking a bit dazed. Devoid of any temper, she appeared completely obedient and soft. She threw off the covers, slipped into her slippers, and, still wearing her silk pajamas, walked to the balcony to look down.

From a luxury sedan parked below, several men in black suits got out, surrounding a woman in the middle of their group as they headed toward the house.

Looking down from above, she could tell that this woman was not her mother.

    What’s going on?

Jiang Jinyi watched for a moment, then picked out a white preppy-style uniform blouse and a short pink skirt from her closet. After changing, she went downstairs.

Aunt Cai, a servant, was standing by the door with a worried look on her face. Noticing Jiang Jinyi coming downstairs, she immediately put on a different expression, squeezing out a smile as she said to her, “Miss is awake. I’ll go heat up some porridge for you.”

Jiang Jinyi gave Aunt Cai neither a response nor a glance. Her eyes were fixed outside the main doors, where the butler was speaking to the lead man in the suit.

Through the crowd, Jiang Jinyi saw a woman she had never seen before standing under the bright sunshine.

She was incredibly beautiful. Her ink-black hair reached her waist, slightly messy. Her eyes were closed, her long, curled eyelashes fanning downward in a soft, alluring arc. She wore an ill-fitting T-shirt. With her ice-clear skin and jade-like bones2, she looked like a fairy stepping out from the depths of the snow, bewildered upon seeing the mortal world for the first time. Her slender, bony hand hung by her pant leg, while her other hand gripped a stick—a white cane.

Jiang Jinyi narrowed her eyes slightly, looking her up and down.

The lead man in the suit saw Jiang Jinyi and walked up to her, speaking respectfully, “Miss Jiang, this lady is someone Chairman Jiang instructed us to bring back.”

Jiang Jinyi glanced at him from the corner of her eye and asked, “Where is my mother?”

The man in the suit replied, “To answer Miss, Chairman Jiang went to the company right after getting off the plane. She said there were urgent matters to deal with.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Jinyi immediately furrowed her brows.

She grumbled in complaint, “So annoying. Why are there always urgent matters?”

The man lowered his head, afraid of having her anger taken out on him. He said carefully, “We don’t know either. It’s t-true, Chairman Jiang really did head straight to the company off the plane. She said she would call you later, Miss.”

Jiang Jinyi knit her brows, staring at the blind woman in front of her. “Then who is she?”

The man turned to look at the woman. “This… we don’t know either. Perhaps Chairman Jiang will tell you later.”

Jiang Jinyi finally looked directly at the woman, parting her lips to say with disdain, “Idiots. How is it you don’t know anything?”

The man quickly agreed, “I’m an idiot, I’m an idiot. Please don’t be angry, Miss.”

All of Jiang Ningshu’s subordinates kept one imperial edict firmly in mind: never talk back to Miss. Being scolded by Miss was their honor; as long as Miss was happy, that was all that mattered.

Jiang Jinyi withdrew her gaze and strode right up to the woman.

The woman seemed to sense her approach and turned her face toward her, her eyes still closed.

    She was blind.

The woman was slightly taller than her, carrying a crisp, cool aura—clean and pure.

Jiang Jinyi looked up at her, assuming the posture of a master. “Who are you? Are you a lover my mom abducted from abroad?”

Her voice was soft and sweet with a nasal quality, still carrying a bit of a childish whine from just waking up. Her drawn-out syllables were willful, cute, and sweet—an indescribable feeling.

Such blunt, explicit words caught Jiang Youwan slightly off guard. She shook her head in silence.

    She isn’t?

As the wealthiest omega in Luo City, Jiang Ningshu was frequently involved in tabloid scandals with female celebrities, engaging in both AO and OO romances. It was natural for Jiang Jinyi’s thoughts to drift in that direction.

This woman in front of her… she could be a captive beauty bought for a high price at some illegal auction abroad, or perhaps a mermaid dredged up from the deep sea.

The look in Jiang Jinyi’s eyes changed, and the atmosphere instantly became somewhat subtle.

The butler only dared to bring the woman inside after calling Jiang Ningshu to confirm again. However, arranging a place for her to stay proved to be a difficult problem. The Jiang family villa was massive, with over ten empty guest rooms. But Jiang Jinyi was extremely possessive. If they let Jiang Youwan move into one without her consent, she would definitely be furious, and might even throw a tantrum.

If that happened, they would be the ones who suffered.

Bowing slightly, the butler asked carefully, “Miss, which room do you think would be best for Miss Youwan to stay in?”

At this moment, Jiang Jinyi was staring in disbelief at the DNA report Jiang Ningshu had sent her. Mustering his courage, the butler asked again, “Miss, what do you—”

“Shut up!” Jiang Jinyi suddenly stood up. The butler flinched and immediately clamped his mouth shut.

Jiang Jinyi’s brows scrunched together into a tight knot.

This woman was actually her biological sister?!

    She couldn’t accept it!

Fuming, she glared at Jiang Youwan, who was standing not far behind the butler. Jiang Youwan seemed to notice her gaze once more, turning her face directly toward her.

    “All of you, get out!”

The moment she gave the order, the butler and the several servants immediately jogged out the front doors. With a heavy thud, the doors were pulled shut.

Only the two of them were left in the massive living room.

Jiang Youwan felt the oppressive atmosphere radiating from the girl in front of her. She pressed her lips together.

After going blind, her sense of smell had become highly sensitive. As the scent of hyacinths in the air grew thicker, she knew the girl was slowly approaching her, getting closer and closer.

Jiang Jinyi stopped in front of her, scrutinizing her excessively beautiful face.

In truth, her features were sharp and exquisite—an aggressive yet seductive beauty. But right now, she looked somewhat pitiful.

“Your name is Jiang Youwan?” she demanded.

Jiang Jinyi’s voice was exceptionally sweet, always carrying a cloying, languid quality. Even though her tone was unfriendly at the moment, it was still pleasant to listen to.

Jiang Youwan’s eyelashes fluttered. Looking deeply helpless, she gave a soft, timid nod to the little master of the house standing before her.

Her voice was pitifully soft and hoarse; her presence was incredibly weak. She was deliberately restraining her pheromones so that the person facing her wouldn’t feel the slightest bit of pressure.

    A subservient posture.

Jiang Jinyi mentally compared their names, then gave two smug humphs. “It doesn’t sound as nice as mine.”

Jiang Youwan blanked for a moment, a little surprised she would say that.

    Comparing whose name sounded better.

“Mom’s eldest daughter who went missing for over twenty years… how come she doesn’t look a single bit like me?”

Jiang Jinyi stared at her, finding her increasingly displeasing to the eye. Suddenly, her malicious streak acted up, and she took a few steps closer. Jiang Youwan instinctively backed away. Her heel hit the sofa, and she tumbled backward onto the cushions.

With a clatter, her white cane fell to the floor. Jiang Youwan let out a muffled groan of pain, having pulled at a wound.

Jiang Jinyi looked down at her from above. As if possessed, she used her fingertips to tilt Jiang Youwan’s chin up. Jiang Youwan’s body trembled slightly, and she immediately tried to turn her face away.

Jiang Jinyi changed her lifting motion into a pinch, holding her firmly so she couldn’t move around.

Her posture was incredibly dominant as she stared intently at her.

Jiang Youwan didn’t seem to anticipate she would do this. Her breathing grew chaotic, her heartbeat erratic. It wasn’t just the slightly cool touch of the fingertips causing this, but also the hyacinth scent that had grown even richer.

Even though they were both omegas, Jiang Jinyi didn’t make her feel uncomfortable. It was a very unique—unique and indescribable feeling.

Jiang Youwan pressed her lips together without a word, her breathing unsteady. The way she wanted to break free but didn’t dare to was quite pitiful. Seeing her like this only made Jiang Jinyi want to bully her more. She was vicious. She was incredibly bad. She was not a good child at all.

Jiang Jinyi loomed over her. Her peach blossom eyes sparkled brightly, as if she were genuinely admiring a favorite toy, though her wicked intentions couldn’t be hidden. “Secretary Song said Mom would bring me a gift. So… she brought a Jiejie for me to play with?”

She dragged out the final syllable. It was wicked, yet somewhat playful—infinitely alluring.

The ridicule in her words was easy to hear, a direct provocation to this sister who had only been picked up after missing for over two decades. She was letting her know that she was merely a gift, laying out her status crystal clear so she would understand her place.

The way Jiang Jinyi smiled was enchanting. Jiang Youwan couldn’t see it; she could only hear her voice drop slightly as the girl gripped her chin and murmured, “I really want to kick you out.”

“I don’t like Jiejie at all. Jiejie isn’t nice at all,” she said.

“Mom brought back a sister before, too. She always made me angry, and living with her was totally uncomfortable, so I drove her out. Threw her luggage right out onto the main road. It was so humiliating for her. But I couldn’t care less if she was humiliated or not. She deserved it.”

“You’re not going to be like her, are you? I won’t go soft on you just because you and Mom share a DNA certificate. I have a terrible temper.”

How could Jiang Youwan fail to hear it? She was warning her—well… more accurately, she was trying to scare her.

Jiang Jinyi waited for this sister’s reaction. Would she feel humiliated? Angry? Or would she endure it silently, waiting for their mother to return so she could secretly complain?

Secretly complaining would be useless, Jiang Jinyi thought. She knew how to play the green tea3 too, and she knew how to act spoiled. She could probably complain far better than this woman ever could.

However, Jiang Youwan’s reaction surprised her.

Gradually, her breathing leveled out. She offered Jiang Jinyi a smile. Even with her eyes closed, the smile was incredibly seductive. In a soft, velvety tone, she said slowly, “I won’t make you angry. I will be very well-behaved.”

The collar of her T-shirt was open, revealing delicate collarbones and an arched swan-like neck. Her skin was very pale, her figure slender and graceful. Even the loose fabric couldn’t conceal her enchanting curves.

Her face was pale, but it possessed a sort of sickly beauty, looking exactly like a beauty forcibly locked away deep within a tyrant’s palace.

Jiang Jinyi hadn’t expected her to be so submissive. She paused, then released her forceful grip on the woman’s chin. Jiang Youwan weakly let her head droop.

    “You’d better be.”

Jiang Jinyi turned and headed toward the main doors, taking her pheromones with her. Jiang Youwan slowly stood up from the sofa, then bent over, searching for her white cane in the pitch darkness.

Having received Jiang Jinyi’s permission, the servants came in and prepared a room for Jiang Youwan. As Jiang Youwan sat back in a chair in the room, the redness on her earlobes had long since cooled. With her eyes tightly shut, she looked exactly like a cold, heartless, and sacred statue.

Even though she had grown accustomed to Jiang Jinyi’s viciousness from the very beginning, she could never stop her ears from flushing red in the face of that malice. No matter how many times it happened, she still found it incredibly shameful.

She could only pray that Xiao Jin hadn’t noticed.

Back in the present, Jiang Jinyi had caught the reaction. Feeling somewhat surprised, she smiled. She playfully scrutinized this woman who, despite wearing a formal business suit, had flushed ears and ragged breathing. She teased, “What? Are you so cheap that even being humiliated makes you blush?”
