    Calling Her Name

    “No, you love me.”

“Don’t even think about leaving me!” Jiang Youwan’s attitude was unyielding, carrying a fierce resolve that brooked no rejection or objection.

She seemed to have barely slept — her whole being both brooding and feverish.

The datura flower scent permeating the air was just like its owner — terrifying, chilling to the bone, yet carrying a fatal allure.

Jiang Jinyi frowned, her expression dreadful. “Let go of me!”

    Let go?

How could she let go? What would she do if she let go? She should never let go in this lifetime — no matter how much hate, she could never let go.

She gripped Jiang Jinyi so very tightly, like a dying patient clutching their lifesaving medicine.

    Not leaving. Can’t leave.

Her tone was like a command, yet carried a trace of pleading: “Then promise me — don’t go, don’t leave me.”

No matter what, being together was enough.

Jiang Jinyi found her bizarre, truly impossible to understand. Or was she simply so self-centered that she had never once considered things from another person’s perspective?

Otherwise how could she ask this — for her to stay by the side of her mother’s killer?

Jiang Jinyi looked at Jiang Youwan’s face and suddenly felt dazed, then found it absurd, sorrowful, and far too sinful.

Same face, same person, same room.

Overnight, everything had changed beyond recognition.

“Jiang Youwan, do you think your love is precious?” Jiang Jinyi stopped struggling and asked.

“Is your love so precious? So precious that you think I’d drop everything and reconcile with you?”

Shortly after those words, Jiang Youwan’s eyes reddened. She suddenly became very fragile, like a flower about to wither. She said in a trembling voice, “No — I’m the one who can’t leave you.”

    “Jiang Jinyi, I love you.”

Jiang Jinyi’s pupils trembled, her heart seizing with a sharp ache.

    Love. Why say love now.

What meaning was there in saying love now? It would only add pain and disgust.

“You don’t even dare to be yourself — someone who has to steal another person’s identity — what right do you have to speak of love?” Jiang Jinyi’s voice was a little hoarse, her head slightly swimmy. She didn’t know if it was the datura pheromones pulling at her, but images of the little moments between them suddenly surfaced before her eyes.

These flickering images, warm and intimate, were intoxicating to watch, stirring an urge she could barely restrain.

But her hatred kept her clear-headed. She parted her lips and said to Jiang Youwan with utter cruelty: “You don’t even dare admit that your name is Su Lin. What right do you have to love me?”

    No right to love…

Jiang Youwan’s gaze grew much darker than before. How could Xiao Jin say such things about her?

How could Xiao Jin say something so hurtful to her?

If she already hated her this much, then let her hate. She had nothing left anyway — only Xiao Jin.

“Yes, my name is Su Lin.” Jiang Youwan’s eyes curved slightly. Beneath them surged an undercurrent. With nothing left to lose, she said, “Just like Xiao Jin knows — I’m the illegitimate daughter of the Su family. Five years ago, I did indeed impersonate the person Jiang Ningshu was looking for and returned to the Jiang family.”

“I admit it — when I first came, I truly had ill intentions.” Jiang Youwan said, “My mother died when I was only ten. Everyone around me told me that my mother was killed by the Jiang family — by Jiang Ningshu.”

Jiang Jinyi’s brow creased, a flash of agitation: “So…”

Jiang Youwan cut her off: “So from the age of ten, I had been preparing for five years later — to come to the Jiang family for revenge, to make Jiang Ningshu go down and keep my mother company in the grave.”

    “You bastard!!”

Jiang Jinyi’s eyes went red with rage at her words. She violently broke free of Jiang Youwan’s grip, turning the tables and seizing her by the throat, pinning her against the wall. The sound of her spine hitting the tile was especially loud — clearly, she wasn’t being gentle at all.

When an alpha was angry, pheromones would spill out uncontrollably, intensely oppressive.

Before, Jiang Jinyi had been too soft — she didn’t even know how to use pheromones to intimidate anyone. This was Jiang Youwan’s first time experiencing this sensation — powerless to resist.

It was an experience she had never had before. No revulsion, no disgust — just an instinctive surge of fear. But alongside the fear, something else overflowed beyond control.

Xiao Jin was angry. Xiao Jin was furious right now. This was the first time she had seen Xiao Jin so fierce.

Jiang Youwan looked up at her, eyes full of infatuation, and continued: “I never thought I would meet Xiao Jin. I never thought that inside the Jiang family I’d always hated, there was hidden such a lovely daughter.”

Both of them were a bit delirious. Jiang Youwan’s tone turned coquettish: “I was single-mindedly focused on revenge. I even used Xiao Jin. But later, I realized that those people had been lying to me all along.”

“I learned the truth. I knew I had been hating the wrong person. I should have left immediately — but I couldn’t bear to leave Xiao Jin.”

“I know saying this can’t change my despicable identity. But after that, I never again did a single thing to harm the Jiang family.”

“Jiang Ningshu killing someone is indeed a fact — that was the result of the police investigation. As for fleeing out of guilt and being killed in a car crash… that might have been Su Yi.”

At those words, Jiang Jinyi’s breathing grew much heavier. Hearing about her mother’s death made her want to cry, but she held it back, her gaze growing fiercer.

Jiang Youwan was made somewhat unsteady by her grip. She grabbed onto her clothes with both hands, wanting to pull her into an embrace — but Xiao Jin was choking her, the distance too great. She couldn’t reach.

Jiang Youwan didn’t know whether Jiang Jinyi believed her. Something crossed her mind, and her tone grew much more desolate and sorrowful.

“Throwing away Xiao Jin’s Xiao Yu wasn’t my intention — it was your mother’s wish. I had no way to defy her.”

This sentence reignited the fury in Jiang Jinyi, whose hostility had slightly receded as she sank into thought. She cursed in a low voice, “Liar!”

“You still want to lie to me…” In an instant, every possibility collapsed to zero in Jiang Jinyi’s mind.

Mom had asked to throw away Xiao Yu? To Jiang Jinyi, this was an enormous lie.

Mom loved Xiao Yu so much. When Xiao Yu was gone, Mom was unhappy too.

Between the mother who had loved her for eighteen years and a person who had faked her identity to become her sister, she chose her mother without hesitation.

Every word Jiang Youwan had just said, including this, was rejected entirely by Jiang Jinyi.

    Liar, liar, liar!

“Jiang Youwan, you habitual offender. You’re best at weaving lies, best at bewitching hearts. You can fabricate any lie off the cuff now — why should I believe you?”

“Your roots are rotten.” Jiang Jinyi said in a low voice, “I will never forgive you.”

Even if everything Jiang Youwan had just said was true, she wouldn’t forgive her.

Su Yi was Jiang Youwan’s biological full brother. Her mother’s death was inextricably tied to Jiang Youwan.

A blood feud still stood between them.

Jiang Youwan wasn’t surprised by Jiang Jinyi’s reaction — more than anything, she felt helpless and sad.

    Won’t forgive? Then don’t forgive.

Jiang Youwan knew she and Xiao Jin could never go back to the way things were. Better to let things keep rotting — it was still better than losing her.

“Then… I love Xiao Jin. That much — Xiao Jin has to believe.”

Jiang Youwan poured all her love into her without reservation. Even if it wasn’t believed, she still had to say it.

    Why say love again?

Jiang Jinyi said, word by word: “I don’t love you.”

Jiang Youwan’s fox-like eyes narrowed. She immediately denied it, staring at her and coaxing softly, “No, you love me.”

“Even if Xiao Jin has recovered her memories, she can’t deny the fact that she was captivated by me. Xiao Jin just said I’m best at bewitching hearts — that means you’ve already been bewitched by me, right?”

Jiang Youwan’s fragile throat was still in Jiang Jinyi’s grip. She raised both hands to cup Jiang Jinyi’s cheeks, her gaze smoldering between them.

“Does Xiao Jin know? Xiao Jin was unconscious for a whole day, and kept having nightmares — she needed jiejie to stay with her and coax her to sleep the whole time~”

She squeezed out a sensuous nasal tone, the trailing note infinitely alluring.

“Xiao Jin even called out jiejie’s name in her dreams — isn’t that proof that I’m in your heart?”

“Bullshit!” Jiang Jinyi snapped at once, denying it in a flustered rage.

Seeing Jiang Jinyi riled up, Jiang Youwan directly wrapped an arm around her neck and brazenly took the furious alpha’s gland into her hands, playing with it even more recklessly. Jiang Jinyi was completely unable to resist.

Jiang Jinyi wanted to suppress her with pheromones, wanted to use her powerful alpha pheromones to make her suffer, just as she had suppressed Huo Qi before.

But their pheromone compatibility was simply too high, and they had temporary marked each other so many times before. Now it was as if they had been born for each other — Jiang Youwan would be suppressed by her pheromones, but would also become even more alluring because of them.

The suppressant she had injected before going to see Huo Qi had lost its effect after she fainted. She could feel the changes in her body — it seemed she couldn’t do anything to Jiang Youwan, and was instead being played by her.

The feeling of being humiliated flooded her mind.

She released her grip on Jiang Youwan’s throat, tore free of her clinging arms, and turned to flee.

But how could it be that easy? The one who wanted her was Jiang Youwan — this bad woman.

A bad woman with no bottom line.

The room door was locked from the inside — it needed a fingerprint to open. This was Jiang Youwan’s room; they had been sleeping here ever since they started dating.

From the outside, Jiang Jinyi had an unlocking fingerprint. But from the inside, Jiang Youwan had never let her register one.

In other words — whether before or now — if this door was locked, without Jiang Youwan’s fingerprint, she had no way out.

The datura scent was like an invisible net, following its master’s command, wrapping around Jiang Jinyi, seeping into every opening, leaving her with no way to retreat.

In the dim room, the air between them was cold yet delicate.

Jiang Jinyi’s gland had long been “trained” by Jiang Youwan to be “obedient and compliant” — useless, unable to resist temptation. Jiang Jinyi felt she was going to go mad.

Along with desire came an overwhelming sense of guilt. Look — your enemy, the person you hate most — you’ve already shared pleasure with her so many times. Your pheromones, your gland — they all like her, they all belong to her.

Everything was ruined! This world was upside down!

“Jiang Youwan, have you no shame!” Unable to get out, on the verge of losing control, Jiang Jinyi turned and snarled at her, instantly meeting her eyes.

Jiang Youwan was all smiles. She walked up to Jiang Jinyi, wiggled her fingers, and smiled at her with tender charm. “Jiejie’s fingerprint is right here. But does Xiao Jin really have the heart to leave?”

Jiang Youwan appeared frail, as if she were the weaker one, but her eyes were full of possessiveness — willing to pay any price, determined to get what she wanted.

“Xiao Jin hates jiejie so much…”
