The Amnesiac Omega Who Reels Me In Every Day – Chapter 14
by Little PandaKiss on the Cheek
A tsundere and considerate gesture.
The doctor and Jiang Youwan conversed in the corridor. “Second Miss Jiang’s body hasn’t suffered any major harm,” the doctor said. “Her injuries are all superficial; she will recover with some rest. However, she took a blow to the head, and her brain sustained some damage. It seems she has lost a portion of her memoryβspecifically, from 2016 to the present. A complete five-year blank.”
“Will she recover?” Jiang Youwan asked.
“We can’t be certain. She might, or she might not. It’s hard to say. With proper treatment, however, there is still a high probability of recovery.”
Jiang Youwan lowered her eyes in deep thought. “I understand.”
Returning to the hospital ward, Jiang Jinyi sat all alone on the hospital bed, anxiously waiting for her return; seeing her in person truly made one’s heart ache with pity.
2016. Judging by Xiao Jin’s current attitude toward her, her memories must have stopped at a time before their falling out.
Jiang Youwan had carefully stored away that period of time. She didn’t know how many days and nights she had spent meticulously savoring it, relying on it to sustain her lingering breath.
It was immeasurably precious.
Seeing her return, Jiang Jinyi gripped the blanket even tighter, looking a bit worried. “Why did you have to hide from me to talk about my condition?”
“Don’t worry. Xiao Jin is fine.”
Jiang Youwan walked toward her. The porridge she had the assistant buy, resting on the nightstand, had cooled down considerably and was now at the perfect temperature. Jiang Youwan sat on the edge of the bed and opened the container. She stirred it with a spoon and was just about to scoop up a mouthful when she paused, offering the porridge to her instead. “Xiao Jin’s stomach must be empty. Eat something first.”
A rich, savory aroma of meat filled her nose. Jiang Jinyi swallowed; she was indeed hungry. She tried to move her hand, but found it extremely painfulβso painful that she knitted her brows. “My hand hurts⦔
Jiang Youwan lifted her gaze, hiding a smile. “Do you want me to feed you, then?”
Jiang Jinyi shook her head and tried to move her hand again. It hurt so much that her eyes grew moist. “My hand hurts so badly. It feels like it’s broken. Will I never be able to paint again?”
Jiang Youwan comforted her softly. “Don’t be afraid, it’s just a scrape. You’ve been asleep for several days, so it will feel rather painful. You’ll be fine.”
Jiang Jinyi’s long eyelashes fluttered, her eyes still a little damp. “Really?”
“Really.” Jiang Youwan felt that facing a Xiao Jin who held no defensive walls or loathing toward her was truly a blissful thing.
“If you don’t eat soon, it’ll get cold. Will you eat it yourself, or should I feed you?”
Jiang Jinyi whined playfully, completely natural in her petulance. “I’m injured, so what’s wrong with you feeding me? Are you really going to let me go hungry?”
Jiang Youwan laughed out loud. Scooping up a spoonful of porridge, she carefully fed it to her lips. “Of course I can’t let Xiao Jin go hungry.”
The lean meat porridge1 was Jiang Jinyi’s favorite, but she couldn’t finish it. She only managed about a dozen bites before she was full.
Jiang Youwan pulled out a tissue and helped wipe away the porridge lingering by her mouth. Jiang Jinyi watched her and brought up her earlier question: “What exactly happened to me? My brain feels broken. It feels so empty, and I can’t remember⦔
Jiang Youwan’s movements paused slightly, and she withdrew her hand.
In truth, she didn’t want Jiang Jinyi to know she had amnesia. However, it was practically impossible to hide. Rather than letting the girl figure it out and let her imagination run wild, it was better to tell her right now.
Jiang Youwan took out her phone and pulled up the calendar for her to see.
“April 2021⦔
“April 2021?!” Jiang Jinyi suddenly widened her eyes, staring in disbelief at the digits on the screen. She even snatched the phone away and scrutinized it for a good while.
Was this real?
“Xiao Jin was in an accident and got hit by something. You have amnesia, and your memories have stopped four years ago.”
“It is now 2021, and you’ve already graduated from university.”
“!!!”
It took Jiang Jinyi an entire hour to accept the fact that she had lost her memory.
“Ughβ¦ So I was the idiot after all.” Just earlier, she had actually mocked the doctor. It was far too embarrassing.
If it was already 2021, then she was twenty-three years old now.
Which university had she gotten into? What achievements had she made in painting? Had she held an art exhibition?
Jiang Youwan patiently answered her questions.
“Xiao Jin was admitted to Beicheng Art Academy and has won many awards. You were originally just about to hold an art exhibition, but then this accident happened.”
Bei City?
Jiang Jinyi found it strange and asked her, “Why would I go to Beicheng Art Academy? It’s so far from home.”
Her first choice had clearly been Luocheng Art Academy. Why would she go to Bei City, thousands of kilometers away from home?
“I had clearly planned everything out to stay in Luo City.” She didn’t like the climate in Bei City at all, nor did she like going to school so far from home. Furthermore, there was someone in Luo City she deeply wanted to stay with.
Jiang Youwan’s eyes darkened slightly, and her heart suddenly ached. She quickly returned to normal and said lightly, “This was indeed Xiao Jin’s choice.” She did not state the reason.
Jiang Youwan flipped through her photo album. Over the past few years, she hadn’t been allowed to participate in Xiao Jin’s life, yet she still went to see her secretlyβevery year on her birthday, and every year during the Spring Festival2.
She had saved numerous important photos of her from these past four years.
Jiang Youwan pulled these photos up and showed them to her. There were graduation photos from Beicheng Art Academy, pictures of her receiving awards at school, and various others. In all of them, she was dazzling.
Jiang Jinyi stared blankly at the photos. The person in the pictures was her, yet it also felt as if it wasn’t. It was like she was looking at someone else’s life. No matter how hard she tried to remember, she didn’t have the slightest impression.
Thinking too much brought on waves of headaches. At first, she could endure it, but eventually, the pain grew too severe for her to continue thinking.
“I don’t feel well⦔ She gripped the hem of Jiang Youwan’s clothes. With her eyes lowered and her eye sockets slightly red, she looked incredibly pitiful.
Jiang Youwan’s heart ached deeply. “If it hurts, don’t think about it right now.”
Having been through such a major accident, pain was a given; she was already incredibly fortunate to be alive.
Jiang Youwan had her lie back down on the bed, tucked her in, and told her to close her eyes and obediently sleep a little while longer.
Yet after only a short moment, Jiang Jinyi suddenly opened her eyes again.
Without warning, she met the eyes of Jiang Youwan, who was watching herβeyes overflowing with love.
Jiang Youwan’s gaze stiffened. She darted her eyes away in a panic before returning to normal, asking with concern, “What’s wrong? Does it hurt too much to sleep?”
“No⦔ Jiang Jinyi had caught her gaze just a moment ago. She felt it was a little strange, but she couldn’t articulate exactly why.
Jiang Youwan’s eyes were bloodshot, and the corners of her eyes were slightly red. She looked deeply exhausted. Not only that, but Jiang Jinyi knew she was enduring something.
“Aren’t you going to sleep?”
Jiang Youwan paused for a moment before smiling. “I’m worried about you, so I’m keeping you company here.”
Jiang Jinyi’s pure, flawless eyes were filled with certainty. “Have you stayed awake this entire time while I was unconscious? Look at your dark circles. You must be exhaustedβ¦ Go get some rest, alright?”
She was feeling heartache for her.
Warmth bloomed in Jiang Youwan’s chest. She spoke in a soft whisper, “Compared to Xiao Jin, this is nothing. Go to sleep quickly, Xiao Jin. Only when you’re asleep can I be at ease.”
She could only be at ease if she went to sleep.
Jiang Jinyi stared at her for a while. Her red lips seemed to move, but she didn’t say anything else. Ultimately, unable to resist her drowsiness, she slowly closed her eyes.
She didn’t feel unaccustomed to Jiang Youwan watching over her while she slept; she had absolutely no guard up against her.
In fact, she felt entirely safe.
She quickly fell asleep.
Faintly, Jiang Youwan noticed that the scent of hyacinths in the air had grown richer. It was neither invasive nor aggressive; it was exceptionally gentle, as if trying to comfort her.
She quickly realized the reason: Xiao Jin knew she hated the smell of hospital disinfectants, so she had deliberately released her pheromones to soothe her.
An exclusive gesture belonging only to Xiao Jinβtsundere yet deeply considerate.
The gentle smile on Jiang Youwan’s face deepened, accompanied by a fear of losing what she had just gained. With joy and dread intertwined, she still didn’t quite dare to believe this was real. It felt like floating on the clouds, as cozy as nestling beneath a quilt, and she couldn’t bear to leave it.
Even more so, she was terrified that when she woke up, Jiang Jinyi’s memories would have returned.
She sat and watched her for a little longer, but there were still many company matters waiting for her to handle; she had no choice but to leave.
Just as she prepared to stand up and leave, the person on the bed suddenly rolled over. Xiao Jin, who had been facing away from her, was now facing her directly.
The spot just above Jiang Jinyi’s forehead was wrapped in gauze. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her sleeping figure was quiet and well-behaved, impossible to connect with the mean Xiao Jin who had spoken to her with such cold sarcasm before.
The previous Xiao Jin not only directed cold words at her, but also knew how to use her pheromones to deliberately seduce her into heat. Yet now, she was perfectly well-behaved, using her pheromones to comfort her instead.
Both versions of her left Jiang Youwan thoroughly infatuated and captivated.
Jiang Youwan’s throat bobbed. Unable to help herself, she leaned closer. Bending down and hovering over her, she gently brushed back the long hair covering the girl’s cheek.
As if kissing a deity, she gently pressed a kiss against the girl’s cheek.
Pulling back, she spoke in a low, husky voice, “You caused all this trouble, yet I have to clean up the mess. I absolutely require a little compensation.”
The author has something to say:
Jiejie: I want to kiss her; I want to eat her up.
Xiao Jin: QAQ
