    Fu Mingyue Returns

Jiang Youwan seemed about to cry.

For days, she had lived like a walking corpse in a daze. That night, Jiang Jinyi started feeling strange—her body temperature was very high, as if she had a fever.

She took her temperature with a thermometer. Thirty-eight degrees. Could it be a fever? She hadn’t been intimate with Jiang Youwan recently, nor had she marked her. There was no reason for her sensitive period to come early.

A sick, feverish alpha would naturally want to rely on her marked omega, craving comfort and care—which was why she wanted to find Jiang Youwan.

Clinging to a sliver of hope, she convinced herself and found a fever pill from the medicine box to take. But after swallowing it, she felt even dizzier, and the urge to find Jiang Youwan surged stronger than ever—she could barely control herself!

Jiang Jinyi shook her head and crouched before the wardrobe, digging out the few intimate garments of Jiang Youwan’s she had hidden earlier. She pressed them to her face and inhaled, only to find the scent had faded so much—it couldn’t possibly satisfy her now.

With no other choice, she cracked the door open to check outside. Seeing that Jiang Youwan was probably downstairs, she sneaked into her room. The faint datura scent eased her discomfort somewhat, but then came an even more urgent craving for more of that fragrance.

She had no time to notice anything else. Her eyes were fixed only on Jiang Youwan’s wardrobe. She rushed over and flung the doors open—a rush of pheromones flooded her nostrils. She threw herself into the wardrobe, grabbing fistfuls of clothes, breathing them in desperately.

The side effects of the fever medicine made her drowsy. Clinging to that pile of clothes, unwilling to leave, she drifted off to sleep without realizing it.

Soft footsteps echoed down the quiet corridor. Before long, the door Jiang Jinyi had closed was opened from outside. A graceful silhouette stepped inside, walking softly to the wardrobe step by step. Looking down at the scene before her, she couldn’t help but laugh.

Xiao Jin always brought her unexpected surprises.

How could such a cute alpha exist?

Jiang Youwan crouched down and stroked Jiang Jinyi’s head, her red lips parting: “Right now you’re holding jiejie’s clothes, sleeping in jiejie’s wardrobe. And later? Who will you hold, who will you be unable to resist sleeping with?”

A wolf walking straight into a tiger’s jaws—hers for the taking.

In her feverish haze, Jiang Jinyi had several dreams. She dreamt she had become a kitten, gently stroked by her owner, forgetting all human suffering—so happy.

Her owner was a gorgeous woman with an incredible figure. Her owner loved holding her to sleep, only ever kissing her, never paying attention to other cats. She was the envy of all the other cats. She couldn’t help showing affection to her owner, wanting to cling to her every moment, nuzzle against her, act cute with her—making the other cats die of jealousy.

Don’t blame this little kitten for showing off—who wouldn’t, with such a beautiful owner?

One evening, she nestled contentedly in her owner’s arms, being coaxed to sleep. But gradually she noticed her temperature rising higher and higher. She must be sick. She whimpered weakly, wanting her owner to notice her discomfort and take her to the vet.

“Hmm? Why are you rubbing against everything? Taking advantage of jiejie just because you’re cute?”

Jiang Youwan’s soft, teasingly scolding voice brushed past Jiang Jinyi’s ear like a warm breeze. She slowly opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Jiang Youwan’s perfect jawline.

    This was her owner.

    “Awake?”

Still lost in the dream, Jiang Jinyi couldn’t tell up from down. She called out, “Jiejie…”

Jiang Youwan was holding her phone, seemingly recording. Jiang Jinyi had been nuzzling against her in her sleep—so adorable that she couldn’t resist capturing it.

Jiang Youwan smiled slyly and answered gently, “I’m here. What’s wrong? Xiao Jin’s body is so hot—are you running a fever?”

“Mmm…” Jiang Jinyi shook her head, gradually coming back to her senses. She had just been dreaming. And now…

She was lying on Jiang Youwan’s bed, in Jiang Youwan’s arms.

Jiang Jinyi frowned. She wasn’t feeling well. Jiang Youwan was being caring, so her tone wasn’t too harsh as she said, “I… I already took fever medicine…”

“You took fever medicine, hmm? Are you still uncomfortable?”

The symptoms seemed much worse than before she fell asleep, but how could Jiang Jinyi admit that? Being found asleep in Jiang Youwan’s wardrobe was embarrassing enough.

She tried to push herself up from Jiang Youwan, but whether her body was too heavy or Jiang Youwan was holding her too tight, she couldn’t get up at all.

Jiang Youwan gazed at her with tender affection, speaking softly, “Xiao Jin, the fever medicine doesn’t seem to be working. Your forehead is still burning.”

Jiang Jinyi also felt the medicine wasn’t working. Her breathing had grown heavier, and she said foolishly, “Jiang Youwan, y-you should take me to get a fever injection…”

Jiang Youwan’s phone was still recording, capturing Jiang Jinyi’s dazed and adorable state. “A fever injection probably wouldn’t work either, would it?”

    “Th-then what do I do? I feel so awful… Jiang Youwan, I’m so uncomfortable…”

“Uncomfortable? Jiejie doesn’t know how to help you either.” Jiang Youwan feigned helplessness.

“Wh-what are you recording?” Jiang Jinyi suddenly noticed the phone in her hand. Startled, she tried to snatch it away, but Jiang Youwan deftly dodged and turned it off.

“Sorry, jiejie couldn’t help herself. Xiao Jin was just too cute earlier.”

Earlier… did she mean when she was asleep?

“Delete it!” Jiang Jinyi’s eyes went wide. She jumped out of her arms, furious.

The soft, sweet Xiao Jin was gone from her embrace, suddenly fierce as could be.

Jiang Youwan had seen this kind of scene plenty of times. She knew how to handle this Xiao Jin—just be firmer and tougher than her.

“Hmm? Delete it?” Jiang Youwan smiled cunningly. “Why should I delete it? Xiao Jin being this cute, acting sweet with jiejie—how wonderful.”

“If you don’t delete it, I’ll—”

    “You’ll what?”

You’ll… you’ll what? Jiang Jinyi looked at Jiang Youwan’s bewitching smile, her gaze drifting to her pale, vulnerable neck, the nape hidden beneath dark hair…

“Xiao Jin, how come you don’t even know how to threaten someone…” Jiang Youwan tossed the phone aside and reached to embrace her with both arms.

Jiang Jinyi thought she was seeing things. She blinked and looked at Jiang Youwan again—only to realize she was dressed very differently today.

She was wearing a uniform—something like an imperial female officer’s uniform, ornate and exquisite, yet slightly different. What should have been an austere uniform became seductive and alluring on her. She wore white gloves, looking perfectly proper.

“Xiao Jin, stop fussing. Jiejie will go get you a fever cooling patch, okay? Do you want some water?” Jiang Youwan’s eyes showed genuine concern—truly worried about her condition, as if afraid the fever would burn her brain out. Jiang Jinyi’s head ached from the fever. She nodded. “Mm, hurry…”

It was rare for her to speak so softly. Jiang Youwan got up and poured her a glass of water, placed a fever cooling patch on her forehead. After drinking the water, Jiang Jinyi closed her eyes, but her brow remained furrowed. Jiang Youwan gently smoothed the crease between her brows with her thumb, but her head still ached and she still felt unwell. Jiang Youwan coaxed her tenderly, patting her shoulder lightly.

Jiang Jinyi opened her eyes blearily and saw Jiang Youwan watching her with eyes full of tenderness. It made her feel like she had gone back years ago, when she was sick and Jiang Youwan had coaxed her just like this.

Jiang Youwan was so good. Jiang Youwan was so gentle. Jiang Jinyi thought—if only Jiang Youwan hadn’t deceived her, how wonderful that would have been. If only Jiang Youwan had told her the truth from the start.

Jiang Youwan kept coaxing her to sleep. Jiang Jinyi didn’t snap at her—she simply had no strength left.

Let it be. She was enjoying it too, actually.

Enjoying jiejie’s kindness. Enjoying jiejie’s gentleness.

    She drifted hazily into sleep.

In her dream, she truly dreamt of a world where she and Jiang Youwan had never deceived each other, had no grievances—where Jiang Youwan was her mother’s best friend’s daughter, five years older, and they had known each other since childhood…

A Maybach sped stylishly down the highway. In the backseat, six-year-old Su Lin sat properly, her young, delicate face filled with nervous anticipation. She clutched a small gift box in her arms—one she had wrapped herself, for a younger sister.

    Her meimei.

The adult sitting beside her gently brushed a strand of hair from her face and said softly, “Ah Lin, you’ll get to see your meimei soon. Are you happy? Remember to be polite when you see Aunt Jiang, okay?”

Su Lin nodded. “Mm, I know.”

She looked up at her mother again and pleaded, “Can you ask the driver to go a little faster? I want… to see Xiao Jin-meimei soon.”

The middle-aged woman smiled. “Alright, we’ll ask the driver to go a little faster.”

“Let our Ah Lin see Xiao Jin-meimei soon.”

    Xiao Jin-meimei.

It wasn’t the first time Su Lin had called this name.

She had been longing for this for so long.

As an only child, ever since she started kindergarten at three, whenever she saw other children with sisters, her face would show envy. She had always yearned for a meimei, always secretly asking her mother, “Can you give me a meimei?”

Her mother would coax her, saying just wait a little longer. So she kept waiting and waiting, secretly shedding who-knows-how-many tears from envying other children who had sisters.

Then one day, her mother showed her a photograph. In it was a newborn baby. Her mother said, “She’s your meimei. Isn’t she cute?”

“Her name is Xiao Jin. You can call her Xiao Jin-meimei from now on.”

    “Xiao Jin-meimei…”

Su Lin froze. She took the photograph from her mother’s hand and stared at the newborn baby, pink and delicate as carved jade, for a long time. She asked her mother when she could go see her. Her mother said her meimei had just been born and was still fragile—they had to wait a while longer.

The very next day, Su Lin started using her pocket money to prepare a gift. She put Xiao Jin-meimei’s photograph under her pillow and thought about her every day.

Finally, on the day of Jiang Jinyi’s one-month celebration1, she went with her mother to the postpartum care center where Jiang Ningshu was staying.

She finally met the Xiao Jin-meimei she had been longing for.

She lay in a cradle, her large, round eyes like grapes, curiously watching the people approaching from outside.

Su Lin couldn’t resist touching her chubby cheek with a finger. Xiao Jin-meimei was so cute—even cuter than in the photograph…

She politely handed the gift for her meimei to Jiang Ningshu, then earnestly sought confirmation: “Aunt Jiang, my mom says she’s my meimei. Is she really my meimei?”

Jiang Ningshu was charmed by her cuteness and fulfilled the little girl’s wish to have a sister: “That’s right, she’s your meimei.”

At these words, the anxiety in Su Lin’s eyes instantly transformed into joy—happier than if she had received every toy in the world.

“Thank you, Auntie. Thank you for giving me a meimei.”

Jiang Ningshu was taken aback, but chalked it up to childish innocence and smiled, “You’re welcome.”

She immediately turned around and said earnestly to Jiang Jinyi, “My name is Su Lin, and I’m your jiejie~”

“Ah-yah~” One-month-old Jiang Jinyi didn’t seem to understand, reaching out both hands to grab her hair. But her arms were too short and missed entirely—making it look like she was asking to be held.

Su Lin blinked, then leaned forward and carefully embraced her—and then—

    Had her hair yanked downward.

    “Hiss…”

Su Lin winced. Jiang Ningshu quickly pried Jiang Jinyi’s fingers loose and gave her hand a gentle, disciplinary tap, scolding softly, “Xiao Jin, how can you pull your jiejie’s hair? That’s not nice.”

    Jiang Jinyi just went “Ah-yah~”

Su Lin said helplessly, “I really can’t do anything about Xiao Jin-meimei.”

Su Lin was truly happy. After being alone for so long, she finally had a meimei.

Su Lin truly treated her like her own biological younger sister—growing up alongside her, protecting her everywhere, doting on her, spoiling her rotten, until she couldn’t live without her.

Later, they got married. On their wedding night, Jiang Jinyi kissed the wife who had been by her side since birth.

She kissed her wife. She marked her wife.

When Jiang Jinyi came to again, she couldn’t remember what time it was, whether it was day or night. Gazing dizzily at her surroundings, she then looked down at Jiang Youwan, who was lying against her chest.

The air was thick with the blended scent of datura and hyacinth. Jiang Youwan had already fallen asleep, her lips swollen and red, the corners of her mouth bitten, tears still clinging to the corners of her eyes. She had been marked.

Jiang Jinyi looked at herself—equally disheveled and absurd, her body covered in her scent.

    Complete marking…

She had completely marked Jiang Youwan.

    In her dream…

The guilt in her heart reaching its peak, Jiang Jinyi’s vision went black, and she fainted too.

During this time, Jiang Youwan had also laid out the evidence of Jiang Ningshu’s crimes before Jiang Jinyi for her to see.

The police investigation concluded: the murdered celebrity Zhao Yan had been Jiang Ningshu’s girlfriend before she was killed. Their relationship had seemed very loving. But not long after, Zhao Yan broke up with Jiang Ningshu. No matter how Jiang Ningshu tried to win her back, it was futile. In the end, Jiang Ningshu lured her to the villa and attempted to force herself on her. During the assault, she accidentally killed her—and then kept the body preserved in a tank filled with formaldehyde.

It was essentially confirmed. The facts were clear—no one had framed her. She had committed murder. That was the truth.

Fleeing after the crime was also a fact, but the car crash was suspicious—the investigation was ongoing.

But Jiang Youwan knew the car crash had been orchestrated by Su Yi.

Jiang Youwan had also promised Jiang Jinyi that Su Yi and Liang Wei would meet bad ends—that they would die miserable deaths.

Truthfully, up to now—after everything at Wushan, and all the little moments before—her love for her, her kindness toward her, and so on…

In her heart, Jiang Jinyi wanted to believe her, but she was also afraid. Jiang Youwan was too powerful—she could manipulate her at will, could fabricate so many things.

Even if, even if her mother’s death truly had nothing to do with her.

But Su Yi was her biological older brother. Her original purpose in coming to the Jiang family, those terrifying schemes—none of it was fake.

Jiang Youwan had admitted it herself.

No matter how coldly she treated Jiang Youwan, Jiang Youwan remained gentle with her, patient with her, endlessly doting on her.

It really was so easy to fall, so easy to lose reason and surrender to being doted on by her.

Jiang Jinyi had even thought many times—what if she just let it be.

But every time she thought of her mother, the agony was unbearable. She couldn’t accept it no matter what.

Her mother’s death stood between them. The schemes and deceptions of those years stood between them.

She felt there was no possibility of love between them anymore.

But now, they had done the one thing they shouldn’t have done—complete marking.

The two of them were bound together completely.

Waking again, Jiang Jinyi didn’t know how long she had slept. The woman she had completely marked nuzzled softly against her in her arms, clinging to her, as if she still hadn’t slept enough, murmuring lazily, her expression tender and bewitching.

Their bodies were now thoroughly saturated with each other’s pheromones, possessing one another.

Jiang Jinyi stared at the ceiling. After a long silence, she spoke: “Do you think that by doing this, everything can just be put behind us?”

“How do you see the future? Are we just going to keep living like this? For the rest of our lives? Did you have to use this method to force me to submit?”

Jiang Youwan’s movements in her arms stilled. She lowered her swollen red eyes, listening quietly.

“Jiang Youwan, you always say you love me, but have you ever really considered my feelings?” Jiang Jinyi’s tone, her gaze—both carried an indelible sorrow.

“You want me to let go of everything and be with you, to pretend like nothing ever happened. I—I really can’t do it.” Jiang Jinyi was in agony, her pain laid bare before Jiang Youwan without reservation.

“Do you know? Being with you is truly so painful for me.”

“Then what does Xiao Jin want me to do?”

Jiang Youwan slowly released her, pulling out of her embrace, and propped herself up weakly to look at her.

An omega who had just been completely marked was extremely fragile—she couldn’t bear even the slightest harshness from her alpha. Her eyes were red, brimming with tears, utterly aggrieved—looking like she might cry at any second, so pitiable.

“Jiejie belongs to Xiao Jin. Everything jiejie has now also belongs to Xiao Jin. What do you want jiejie to do?”

Jiang Youwan said with a fragile, tearful voice, “Do you want to stab me a few times? Or do you want me to tear my heart out for you to see? Or do you want me to go down and keep your mother company in death?”

Jiang Youwan asked for nothing else: “Just say the word. Except for losing you, I can do anything. You can torment me however you want.”

Jiang Jinyi felt as if a fishbone was stuck in her throat.

Jiang Youwan leaned down and gently kissed Jiang Jinyi’s cheek—coaxing her, appeasing her.

Facing such a fragile, captivating Jiang Youwan, Jiang Jinyi’s heart uncontrollably melted into a puddle. She found she could no longer say anything that would hurt her.

    What should she do?

    What should she do?

She truly felt she was going mad.

She was being driven mad by this utterly contradictory feeling.

After seeing Jiang Jinyi that night, Xu An could clearly sense something had changed about her. She seemed to have grown up all at once.

Not just grown up—her eyes also revealed a sorrowful, powerless world-weariness.

Jiang Jinyi had always been doted on by Jiang Youwan, living carefree. For her to show such a feeling, she had most likely recovered her memories.

The facade of peace had shattered.

    Recovered memories—what terrifying words.

Terrifying for Jiang Jinyi, and terrifying for her too.

She had anxiously deliberated for days before finally mustering the courage to send Jiang Jinyi a message: 【Have you recovered your memories?】

Jiang Youwan had fallen asleep in her arms again. Unable to sleep, Jiang Jinyi saw the message and quickly replied: 【Yes.】

Not only had she recovered her memories—she had also completely marked the person.

Very calm. Xu An waited over ten minutes, but no reproach came.

This made her feel even worse.

    【I’m sorry, Xiao Jin.】

    【It’s fine. I know—Jiang Youwan threatened you.】

【So what are you going to do now?】

Jiang Jinyi looked at the fragile, enchanting woman in her arms, thought for a long time, and replied: 【I don’t know.】

Xu An said: 【Fu Mingyue is back.】
