    What Do I Do?

    I Want to Slip Away!

    Going home with her.

    Getting back together with her.

    But…

Even though Yu Yan had said on the way over that she wanted to go home and see Honey, she was just that kind of person. Swept up in a sudden whim, she would blurt out whatever popped into her head; much of her mouth cannon1 talk was spoken without a single thought for the consequences.

Now that these words had come directly from Fu Yunqing’s mouth—and with such absolute sincerity—Yu Yan felt a wave of unreality and reluctance instead. It was like standing on a cloudless grassland, gazing up at the sky while someone said they would pluck the stars down for you, even though the stars were so very far away.

She felt a trace of panic.

Were they really getting back together? This was a serious question. To get back together and live together, just as that Weibo account had recorded: dating, loving each other, and being completely inseparable.

    But love was too heavy.

Yu Yan realized she wasn’t prepared for this at all; it had happened far too suddenly. A life of unimaginable wealth was laid out right before her. Although she had been worrying about making a living and desperately seeking a rich lady2 to financially support3 her, it had ultimately been nothing more than mouth cannon talk. She certainly felt a strong sense of novelty toward Fu Yunqing, and she was indeed after her money, but she had actually never planned Fu Yunqing into her own future.

Now, was she about to lose her freedom without a choice and be with her?

    Heavens, what should she do…

For a moment, Yu Yan really didn’t know what to do. Words of rejection were on the tip of her tongue, but looking at that face of hers, she couldn’t bring herself to say them.

After being taken to the salon to get her bangs trimmed, they went to the mall. Jiejie asked her if there was anything she wanted to buy. Fu-jiejie still knew her temperament all too well—she was just a money-loving, vain woman. But looking at those designer luxury storefronts, Yu Yan, with her guilty conscience and urge to flee, didn’t dare to spend too much of her money. Instead, she chose to walk into a pet store, thinking that since she was going to see the cat anyway, she might as well bring some treats and a teaser wand. That way, when Honey saw her again, she wouldn’t resent her for vanishing for so long. After all, cats were greedy and foolish little things.

Fu Yunqing strongly agreed, so accompanied by her, Yu Yan boldly picked out a lot of treats and toys, and then they went to have lunch together.

Having woken up very early, she felt a bit sleepy after lunch. She closed her eyes in the car to pretend to sleep, but her mind was so heavy with worries that she couldn’t fall asleep at all, scheming how she should find an excuse to run away after seeing Honey. By the time Fu Yunqing woke her, the car had already driven into the neighborhood.

Fu-jiejie was incredibly wealthy. Back when Yu Yan herself was still a second-generation rich kid4, their home had naturally been extremely high-end and lavish. Their building stood right beside the landmark skyscraper of Yuncheng’s core financial district. From the moment they entered the neighborhood, every corner was decorated with magnificent splendor, making Lu Yu’s old, broken, small5 apartment look like a slum. As she stepped up to the elevator and pressed the up button, Yu Yan’s anxiety almost reached its peak. She was deeply anxious, and beneath that, she felt a growing, faint irritation.

This feeling was truly familiar, completely identical to the anxiety she used to feel when she flirted with women, and out of nowhere, the other party suddenly got extremely serious and proposed that they be together.

She really was not prepared to date.

“Is Honey aggressive?” Fearing that Fu Yunqing might notice her strange behavior, Yu Yan found an excuse to explain her anxiety.

Fu Yunqing looked down at her, reaching out to gently smooth her long hair in a reassuring gesture. “She isn’t aggressive. She has a very good personality.”

“Then is she brave? Will she fail to recognize me and be terrified of me? Will she hide and refuse to see me?”

“She is very timid. She’s afraid of other cats, but she isn’t afraid of people. She’s very friendly with them.”

“Afraid of cats but not people? I can’t believe there’s such a calculating cat in this world!”

Her description made Fu Yunqing let out a soft laugh. “She takes after you.”

Yu Yan looked innocent: “Takes after me?”

She indeed resembled Yu Yan—especially in terms of being proactive with people.

On the thirty-sixth floor, as soon as the elevator doors opened, it was the entrance to their home—two thick, heavy solid wood doors that looked extremely grand. Yu Yan waited for Fu Yunqing to open the door, but Fu Yunqing said, “I didn’t delete your fingerprints or your face scan. Try opening it yourself.”

Really? Yu Yan aligned her face with the scanner, and the door lock indeed opened with a beep.

She pushed the door open and stepped inside. The apartment was a seven-hundred-square-meter duplex with a panoramic view of the river and the Bund just outside the windows. Because Yu Yan loved lively areas and spacious homes, she had found their original wedding villa inconvenient, so they had specifically chosen this place together instead.

The decor, furniture, bedding, carpet, and all kinds of small items were all chosen and arranged by the two of them together.

As they stood in the entryway, Fu Yunqing bent down to fetch her a pair of cotton slippers in the shape of a green frog. Fu Yunqing had another pair in the shape of a white duck. Yu Yan had bought them because she thought they were adorable when she saw them online, declaring that they were a pair—she was the toad, and Fu-jiejie was the white swan. When Fu Yunqing had heard this back then, she had been both exasperated and amused. How could anyone call a frog a toad, or a duck a white swan? And then Yu Yan had put on a pitiful look, asking her jiejie if she would dislike her, this toad.

At the time, Fu Yunqing had given her a gentle scolding, telling her not to talk nonsense and not to belittle herself. Still, she had cherished this pair of cotton slippers Yu Yan bought. Whenever Yu Yan wore hers, she would wear hers with her too.

After changing her shoes, Yu Yan walked into the house carrying the cat treats and toys, looking around and softly calling the cat’s name. At first glance, this home was clearly a cat-owning household, filled with numerous cat trees and toys. Even the carpet was in the style of a cat paw. It was almost like a cat paradise.

In an instant, the virtual world merged with reality. Many of the photos Yu Yan had seen on that Weibo account had this very house as their background.

    It really was their home.

    “Honey?”

Yu Yan called out a few more times. A fluffy black head peeked out from the second floor, letting out a faint meow. There she was! In the blink of an eye, the black puffball vanished again. Yu Yan widened her eyes, searching the space, while Fu Yunqing stood calmly to the side. Sure enough, a moment later, the black puffball bounded down the stairs, her tail held high in the air. As she neared the two of them, she slowed her pace, meowing softly.

She was a massive black cat, her fur dark, glossy, and fluffy, with a tail like a feather duster. She had emerald-green eyes, sturdy limbs, and large paws, yet her voice was incredibly high-pitched and sweet. The cat of her dreams, the cat of her dreams!

Yu Yan’s eyes lit up. She squatted down to greet the cat. The little creature cast a glance at Fu Yunqing, her nose twitching as she sniffed all over Yu Yan. Yu Yan turned her head to ask Fu Yunqing, “Can I pet her?”

Fu Yunqing’s eyes softened: “Of course you can.”

A polite child, a polite cat. Fu Yunqing also squatted down, speaking gently to Honey: “It’s jiejie. Don’t you remember?”

“Jiejie is back.” Fu Yunqing rubbed her head.

    jiejie.

    She was Honey’s jiejie.

To win over the little one’s favor, Yu Yan hurriedly tore open one of the treats she had bought. Perhaps this way, the cat would think her jiejie had merely been away on a long hunting trip. Would she be happy that her jiejie had managed to survive the perils of the wild and bring back prey?

Yet when she tore open a cat strip—something no cat could possibly resist—and held it to the cat’s mouth, Honey simply let out a cry, reaching out with both paws to claw at Yu Yan’s pant leg. “Meow~

Yu Yan was startled. “Hmm? You don’t want to eat it?”

Honey didn’t even glance at the cat strip, clawing at her and meowing loudly at her. Yu Yan was a little at a loss.

Fu Yunqing helped her take away the cat strip from her hand and said, “She recognizes you. Go ahead and hold her.”

Sob… How could there be such an adorable baby? To think she would resist the ultimate temptation of a cat strip just to be held. Yu Yan simply sat flat on the floor and gathered the massive black cat into her arms. Honey was thrilled, squirming in her embrace and even gently nipping her with her teeth. Was she complaining about Yu Yan being gone for so long?

Was this really her cat? A cat she had raised with her own hands? Yu Yan had somehow achieved her lifelong dream during a period of her life she didn’t even remember. It was absolutely incredible.

“Don’t sit on the floor. Go to the sofa,” Fu Yunqing said, giving her a light pat.

“She’s so heavy!” Yu Yan grunted as she lifted the cat, marveling, “She must be at least a dozen jin.”

Fu Yunqing smiled faintly: “Fifteen jin. She isn’t actually fat; the doctor said she has a large frame.”

    “She really is very sturdy.”

Fu Yunqing looked at her: “You are much thinner than she is.”

“Have you not been eating properly? Do you even weigh a hundred jin right now?” She frowned slightly, her eyes filled with worry and heartache.

“Hey, of course I do,” Yu Yan protested. “I just weighed myself a couple of days ago. I’m a hundred and three jin.”

At Yu Yan’s height of 167 centimeters, this weight was still on the thinner side. She needed to put on a bit more weight to reach a healthy balance. When they had been together before, Yu Yan had regular eating habits, a great appetite, and a healthy routine. Except for the period surrounding her car accident, her weight had always stayed at a healthy level of over 110 jin, and she had been bursting with energy every day.

She had thinned out after the accident, and during that time, Fu Yunqing had personally cooked for her every single day, taking immense effort to nurse her back to health. How long would it take this time? She truly felt a deep pang of ache for her.

During their days apart, her greatest fear had been that Yu Yan wouldn’t be able to take proper care of herself. Without anyone to look after her, she was bound to stay up late constantly. Was she still drinking iced beverages even when the weather turned cold? Why did she have painful periods? Every time these thoughts crossed her mind, Fu Yunqing’s heart would ache. She thought to herself, If her period is still painful next time, I’ll have to take her to the hospital to see how to regulate her body.

“What do you want to eat tonight? Do you want to eat at home or go out?”

She asked so naturally, but a subtle, faint sense of resistance welled up in Yu Yan’s heart again. She hesitated for a moment. “Let’s go out to eat.”

Once they finished eating out, she could make her escape.

Fu Yunqing didn’t agree immediately. Instead, she asked, “You don’t want to try my cooking?”

Yu Yan was surprised. “Fu-jiejie, you know how to cook?”

Fu Yunqing chided her: “I used to cook for you all the time. You ate it all and forgot every bit of it.”

Ah, saying that was really a bit awkward. She quickly piled on the praise: “Then jiejie’s cooking must be absolutely delicious!”

Fu Yunqing merely smiled and ignored her flattery.

She stood up to wash her hands, rinsing some strawberries from the refrigerator while she was at it. When she returned to the living room, Yu Yan was engrossed in playing with the cat, having a wonderful time. Fu Yunqing understood her childlike temperament perfectly; at times like this, she wouldn’t have the spare attention to notice the fruit. Besides, her hands had just been on the cat and were covered in bacteria, and Fu Yunqing would never allow her to eat directly with her bare hands anyway.

    A lively child—the twenty-year-old Yanyan.

Suddenly, Fu Yunqing also found it incredibly surreal and miraculous: the one who had returned to her side was the twenty-year-old Yanyan.

Sitting down beside her, carrying this subtle, stable, yet still anxious and uneasy mood, Fu Yunqing picked up a plump, large strawberry. Holding it between her fingertips, she brought it to Yu Yan’s lips and murmured, “Have a taste.”

Yu Yan froze, slightly unaccustomed to this level of intimacy. She raised her head, her eyes meeting the woman’s long eyelashes and eyes, which were cast down as softly as weeping willow branches.

She wore no makeup, and a trace of fatigue still lingered in her eyes. Yet unlike yesterday, she was incredibly gentle today.

And that gentleness, revealing a hint of fatigue, converged into a kindly affection that struck straight to the soul. Only now did she realize just how close they were sitting, their thighs pressed together. With the cool sensation of the fruit resting against her lips, Yu Yan’s heart suddenly missed a beat.

She opened her mouth, in a fluster trying to quickly bite off the entire strawberry. In her haste, her lips brushed against Fu Yunqing’s fingertips. Her jiejie didn’t let go, offering a soft, gentle scolding, “It’s so big, and you want to eat it in one bite? Take half first.”

The strawberry really was massive, almost the size of a palm. Trying to eat it in one bite would only make it fall out of her mouth. Yu Yan had no choice but to obediently pull her teeth back a bit and bite off half of it.

Even half was a huge mouthful. As she chewed, the juice overflowed from the corner of her lips, and Fu Yunqing pulled out a tissue to dab it away for her. The remaining half of the strawberry was still held between Fu Yunqing’s fingers, bearing Yu Yan’s clear bite marks. Though her fingers had just been touched by Yu Yan’s lips, she showed not the slightest hint of aversion, acting with absolute, practiced naturalness.

For some reason, Yu Yan’s cheeks began to burn. She felt that when Fu Yunqing had gently yet strictly told her to only take half, she looked exactly like a mother she had seen feeding a child.

    It was like a mother…

She wanted a mother so badly…

But besides a mother, she also wanted jiejie, wanted meimei, wanted overbearing female bosses, wanted sweet female livestreamers, and gorgeous, cool female directors! She wanted to snuggle in the arms of several cat-owning women and play with their cats!

Fu Yunqing would spank her with a belt; her possessive desire was bound to be incredibly strong, and she would definitely never allow such a thing.

Ah, what should she do? What should she do…
