    Yu Yan’s Curiosity

    Drunk Fu Yunqing

Fu Yunqing rarely got drunk—at least, Yu Yan had never seen her drunk.

She was a very mature, steady woman who knew how to exercise self-restraint. There were many precious wines stored at home; Yu Yan could never control herself from drinking to excess and getting completely wasted, while Fu Yunqing only ever sipped lightly and stopped.

As the eldest granddaughter of the group’s Chairman, although she didn’t directly manage the company, and though she tried her best to reduce social engagements and spend her time with Yu Yan instead, she still couldn’t avoid some social obligations, gatherings, and banquets. Yet she handled them with effortless grace, always remaining clear-headed and making elegant exits.

Even during the period when she was divorcing Yu Yan, although she was already so heartbroken, she had never gotten drunk and shown her messy drunken state in front of Yu Yan—because she worried that words spoken while drunk could hurt, because she feared losing control would make their relationship worse, because she cherished her so much.

After Yu Yan left her, she had indeed started drinking heavily, drowning her sorrows in alcohol—it was just that Yu Yan, who had gone far away, could no longer see it.

For some reason, Yu Yan suddenly thought of this question, suddenly realizing she had never seen Fu Yunqing drunk. Once the thought surfaced, she couldn’t take it back. She grew curious about what Fu Yunqing would look like when drunk, pestering Fu Yunqing herself for answers. But that woman put on an air of profundity and claimed she had never been drunk. Yu Yan didn’t believe her, and since she couldn’t pry anything out of her, she went to ask Auntie Zhang. Auntie Zhang said, what else could she look like—just sad and miserable, of course. Yu Yan wasn’t satisfied, and even made a point of consulting Ran Ling.

She thought to herself: Ran-jiejie and Fu-jiejie were good friends. Maybe during that period after the divorce, Fu-jiejie had gone to her to pour out her heart—Ran-jiejie must have seen Fu Yunqing at her most vulnerable when drunk.

Who would have thought—asking this not only failed to satisfy Yu Yan’s intense curiosity, but instead made her even more frantic with curiosity.

What kind of woman was Ran Ling? She was one who knew best how to manipulate people’s hearts, making them unable to resist. She spoke ambiguously: when Yunqing got drunk, her face turned very red; when Yunqing was drunk, she became very quiet; when Yunqing was drunk, she made people want to cherish her—and so on. With just a few simple descriptions, she successfully hooked Yu Yan’s heart, making her even more curious, even more desperate to see with her own eyes what Fu Yunqing looked like when drunk.

But she never found the opportunity, because Fu Yunqing was truly strict with her. Although she would agree to go to the bar with Yu Yan, she strictly limited how much Yu Yan could drink—just enough to have fun, no getting drunk. Moreover, Yu Yan herself easily got carried away at bars, let alone managing to get Fu Yunqing drunk.

It was the same at home. Sometimes Yu Yan would try tricks to get her to drink—sweet-talking and flirting while pressing glass after glass into her hands—but how could such petty tricks fool her? Not to mention, she was Mommy, she was Master; she held absolute, inviolable authority before her Puppy. One warning glance from her, and Yu Yan would shrink back, toss aside the wine glass and her wicked little schemes, and burrow into her arms, absolutely not daring to try again.

What to do? What to do? If this kept up, Yu Yan was afraid she might never see Fu Yunqing drunk in her entire life. Yu Yan was unwilling to accept this, often racking her brains over it.

Suddenly, things took a turn one day.

That evening, Fu Yunqing had been invited to a gathering. Yu Yan had attended classes at school all day and was waiting at home for her to return. At nine-thirty, just as she was getting drowsy, she suddenly received a call from Fu Yunqing. Fu-jiejie asked on the phone if she could come pick her up. Yu Yan was extremely eager, immediately agreeing, and called the driver to take her to the location of the private club.

This was a small private gathering—she heard it was a welcome-back party for one of Fu-jiejie’s friends returning from abroad. Walking into the private room, guided by a server, Yu Yan spotted Fu Yunqing from afar, sitting on the sofa with her head bowed and eyes lowered. Several jiejie she didn’t know were gathered around the drinking table, smiling warmly at her as she walked over. Yu Yan had long since kicked her habit of fawning over every beauty she saw—she held tightly to Fu-jiejie’s hand, greeted each of the jiejie in turn, and left with her own Wife.

Her voice on the phone had sounded normal, the lighting in the private room was dim, and her attention had been too scattered. It wasn’t until they were seated in the car that Yu Yan noticed something different about Fu Yunqing—her face was so red.

She was holding Yu Yan’s hand tightly, leaning against the seat with her eyes closed, her face flushed unnaturally red. Yu Yan was startled by this discovery, leaning in to study her closely, and quickly noticed her breathing was faster than usual, her body temperature hotter than normal, and her slightly furrowed brow as though she were enduring something.

“Jiejie?” Yu Yan called out to her, leaning in to press her cheek against hers. “Your face is so hot…”

“Are you drunk?” Her voice couldn’t quite hide a hint of excitement.

Fu Yunqing didn’t open her eyes. Yu Yan shook her hand again, softly calling “Jiejie” several times. Only then did Fu Yunqing crack her eyes open, gazing at her hazily, her reactions a bit slow. “Hmm?”

Yu Yan’s eyes lit up even more. She leaned close to her ear and whispered, “You’re drunk.”

“What does it feel like right now? Do you feel dizzy? Uncomfortable? Do you feel like throwing up?”

Yu Yan, having discovered a novel treasure, was truly relentless, pestering her with question after question—even asking things like “Do you still remember who I am?” She was too noisy. Fu Yunqing couldn’t take the racket, utterly exasperated, and scolded her in a soft, languid tone: “No fussing.”

Yu Yan immediately fell quiet. Then, a surge of responsibility welled up inside her. She wrapped her arm around Fu Yunqing’s shoulder, slowly guiding her to lean against her own shoulder, and said softly, “Lean on me.”

She looked so gentle and reliable. “Sleep if you want to. I’ll wake you when we get home.”

Fu Yunqing gave a very soft “Mm” from her throat and nuzzled against her shoulder.

Yu Yan’s lips curved up. Holding her drunk jiejie, she sat up straight, feeling smug the whole way. Watching the car drive into the garage, when the car came to a steady stop, she couldn’t wait to turn her head. “We’re home.”

Fu Yunqing didn’t respond. Yu Yan patted her and said even more gently, “We’re home.”

    “Mm.”

Fu Yunqing lifted her long lashes. Seeing her not-yet-fully-awake appearance, Yu Yan moved to help her. “I’ll help you out of the car. Be careful.”

Ran-jiejie was right—Fu-jiejie really was very quiet when drunk. That slightly unfocused, slightly dazed look when she opened her eyes was truly endearing. Yu Yan carefully helped her out of the car, led her into the elevator, and pressed the button for their floor with practiced precision, not forgetting to tell Fu Yunqing, “We’re almost home.”

The two cats at home were already waiting by the door to greet them, but Yu Yan had no time to pet them. Her primary task right now was to take good care of Fu-jiejie. Auntie Zhang had already gotten off work and gone home, so she needed to take care of the drunk Fu-jiejie all by herself—this sounded like a task full of love.

She settled Fu Yunqing on the sofa. Her face looked even redder under the bright white lights. Even drunk, she was still restrained—even when uncomfortable, she only closed her eyes and furrowed her brow. Yu Yan ran to the kitchen, found lemon and honey in the refrigerator, and made a cup of warm lemon honey water. When Fu Yunqing opened her eyes, she saw Yu Yan kneeling before her knees, offering the lemon water into her hands.

Her eyes were bright, as if holding starlight, holding a hidden excitement she couldn’t conceal. Fu Yunqing gave an imperceptible soft laugh, took the water and drank it all. Yu Yan took the empty cup away, then immediately climbed onto the sofa, wrapped her arms around her waist and asked if she still felt uncomfortable, whether her head hurt, if she wanted a massage. Fu Yunqing declined, saying she wanted to go back to the bedroom.

Nearly every sentence the drunk Fu Yunqing spoke thrilled Yu Yan. Yu Yan dutifully helped her back to the bedroom, letting Fu Yunqing lie down on the big bed. Yu Yan herself crouched by the bedside, holding onto the edge of the bed, staring at her like a kitten observing a novel human. Seeing this, Fu Yunqing couldn’t help but say, “Aren’t you silly.”

“Mm~” Yu Yan shook her head. “Mommy.”

They had a tacit understanding: in front of others, Yu Yan called Fu Yunqing jiejie; in private, she called her Mommy.

Fu Yunqing lay there languidly. “Mm?”

“We’re home,” she emphasized to her.

Fu Yunqing gave a soft laugh. “Mm, I know.”

Yu Yan said, “I was afraid you didn’t know. Why did you drink so much tonight? Your face is so red, and you can’t even stand steady.”

Fu Yunqing said slowly, “I didn’t drink that much.”

People who’ve had too much generally never admit they’ve really had too much—Yu Yan understood this all too well. She went along with her words, then asked again, “Do you feel uncomfortable?”

    “A little dizzy.”

Yu Yan coaxed her, “Does it feel like the room is spinning? Close your eyes and sleep, the dizziness will pass in a bit.”

Fu Yunqing was reluctant. “I still need to shower.”

Yu Yan quickly said, “It’s not safe to shower alone when you’re drunk. I’ll help you wipe down later.”

Fu Yunqing’s lips curved again. Yu Yan thought she was so beautiful—the way her face flushed was so beautiful, her hazy gaze and smiling expression so sexy.

Fu Yunqing reached out her hand. Before it could touch Yu Yan’s face, Yu Yan had already pressed her cheek against it. Her hand was so hot—hotter than ever before. Yu Yan held her hand and couldn’t help calling out, “Mommy…”

    “Mm?”

She asked again, “Do you still remember who I am?”

Fu Yunqing didn’t even want to answer her. She gazed at her softly, then suddenly said, “You’re my Baby.”

“Come here, let me hold you.”

Yu Yan immediately climbed onto the bed, quickly burrowing into Mommy’s arms, feeling her burning embrace and infinitely tender love.
