    Love

    Bad Puppy, Silly Fool

When Fu Yunqing returned home, she walked straight upstairs.

Not long before, Yu Yan had called saying she missed her terribly, her voice tight with anxiety. But when Fu Yunqing asked what was wrong, she refused to say, telling her to finish her work before hanging up.

In truth, Fu Yunqing was not busy at all and had already told her she was on her way home.

Fu Yunqing had caught the edge of distress in her voice and felt a knot of concern for her state of mind.

Even though her recent hospital check-up had shown she was doing remarkably well, Fu Yunqing remained acutely vigilant, warning herself never to let her guard down as she once had.

Her puppy’s mental health was vital, and her puppy’s emotional needs required equal care.

This was her duty—as her Master, and as her lover.

Reaching the upper floor, she pushed open the bedroom door, greeted only by a little black cat with her tail held high. Night had fallen. The room was dimly lit, and after a quick scan around, Fu Yunqing found a certain someone curled up in a corner, her head completely covered under a blanket.

Fu Yunqing walked over, crouched down, and gently pulled back a corner of the blanket. Yu Yan had buried her head in her arms, her messy long hair veiling her face as she huddled into a tight ball with her eyes squeezed shut.

    What was wrong?

    Had she fallen asleep?

Fu Yunqing brushed aside her tangled strands of hair, discovering that her cheeks were burning hot, her ears flushed bright red, and her breathing heavy.

Around her fair neck sat a black leather collar. A silver tag hung from the front of it, engraved with the name “Yanyan” on one side, while the back bore Fu Yunqing’s name and contact information.

Beside it hung an exquisitely crafted little bell.

    Fu Yunqing’s gaze shifted subtly.

“What’s wrong?” Fu Yunqing asked softly. “Do you have a fever?”

Keeping her tone even, she pressed her hand to Yu Yan’s forehead, then leaned down, intending to press her cheek against hers to gauge her temperature. Just as she drew near, Yu Yan suddenly turned her head and opened her eyes.

Their eyes met. Yu Yan’s eyes were red and wet, her brow furrowed as if she had suffered some terrible grievance. Yet there was little worry in Fu Yunqing’s expression—only a faint, amused smile floating in her eyes. “What’s wrong? Why are you hiding over here?”

“Why are your ears so red? Did you do something naughty?”

Were her ears red? Was her face red too? Red enough that she actually looked feverish?

Yu Yan did not particularly want to answer such questions. Looking into her eyes, she tilted her chin up and lightly brushed her lips against hers—a fleeting kiss like a dragonfly skimming the water. Pulling back, she parted her lips slightly, threw her arms around Fu Yunqing’s neck, and pressed up to kiss her again.

While waiting for her to come home, Yu Yan had been popping mints non-stop. The blueberry-flavored mint in her mouth had not fully dissolved yet, turning their embrace into a sweet, refreshing kiss.

Their tongues tangled together until the candy completely melted away before they parted. A slight numbness lingered on the tip of Yu Yan’s tongue, alongside a trace of cool sweetness.

Fu Yunqing had barely caught her breath when Yu Yan tried to lean in for another kiss. Fu Yunqing’s breathing was heavier now, though her voice retained its strict authority. “Don’t move.”

“Did you hang up on me on purpose?”

Yu Yan said nothing, but Fu Yunqing already knew the answer. Cupping her chin, she forced Yu Yan to tilt her face up.

Knowing her Master had seen right through her, Yu Yan stopped trying to offer excuses. She acted cute and confessed candidly, “I just wanted to pretend to be fragile so Master would feel bad for me and pay attention to me…”

Compared to her actually being in distress, Fu Yunqing naturally preferred it to be a harmless prank.

“Did you crave a cigarette again just now?”

Fu Yunqing had noticed the pacifier sitting on the counter the moment she walked in. She smiled faintly and asked, “Is it helping?”

“It isn’t helping at all,” Yu Yan said with exaggerated pity. “Not a single bit. I wanted a smoke so badly I could die—I only held out through sheer willpower.”

She looked entirely like someone begging for praise and a reward.

She did not seem to realize at all that she had done something wrong and deserved punishment.

“So what should we do about it?”

Yu Yan wrapped her arms around Fu Yunqing’s neck, drawing closer with complete reliance. Her eyes, previously filled with pitiful innocence, were now overflowing with heat and intense infatuation. “Just like before…” she whispered softly.

    “Serving Master… even more deeply.”

“Is that so?” Fu Yunqing chuckled softly.

Even after all this time, Yu Yan still believed that Fu Yunqing’s smile was the most beautiful thing in the world—even when it was teasing, disdainful, or playful.

“Do you think your mouth is that skilled? Or is it your tongue?” Fu Yunqing knew precisely what was going through her mind.

“Is your collar put on properly?”

Because she had missed her Master so terribly, Yu Yan had dug out the collar herself and put it around her neck. But that was how it went without her Master present—it sat crooked and loose, desperately needing her Master’s hands to adjust it properly.

Only under her Master’s touch could she become the perfect puppy.

    “…”

Yu Yan knelt beside the bed while Fu Yunqing sat upon it. Fully clothed above the waist, Fu Yunqing looked perfectly composed at first glance, yet her long, sleek legs were bare beneath. One thigh rested over Yu Yan’s shoulder, her ankles crossing to lock her firmly in place. Supporting herself on the mattress with one hand, Fu Yunqing held the leash in the other, effortlessly enjoying her puppy’s service.

Serving her Master came with strict standards: she could not go too fast, nor could she go too slow—she had to maintain a rhythm that kept her Master completely comfortable.

The leash took the place of verbal commands. A sharp tug meant it was not enough; a slack leash meant satisfaction. With her eyes closed, Yu Yan obeyed submissively, working dutifully to bring her Master into a state of blissful ecstasy.

Fu Yunqing’s grip on the leash gradually loosened. Her eyes, which had been fixated on the dark head working intently between her thighs, lost their sharp focus. Tilting her head back with a soft sigh, her gaze glistened with an irresistible, languid pleasure.

She did not forget to place her palm atop her puppy’s head, giving it a gentle stroke as a reward.

Yet the encouragement seemed to spur Yu Yan on a little too much. Suddenly doubling her effort, she pushed Fu Yunqing beyond her limit, prompting her to pull at Yu Yan’s hair and let out a breathless reprimand.

The reprimand carried no real sting, and Yu Yan only grew more daring instead of backing off. With Fu Yunqing already inclined to indulge her, she found herself completely powerless to stop her.

Taking advantage of her Master being rendered weak and defenseless from her tongue, Yu Yan rose, her eyes ablaze with passion as she pinned Fu Yunqing down onto the bed.

With Fu Yunqing propped against the headboard, her fitted sweater was rolled up above her ribs. Yu Yan pressed her body against hers, burying half her face beneath the fabric.

Three years ago, not long after they had made their relationship official, they had been messing around on the bed when one of Fu Yunqing’s shoulder straps accidentally slipped down. Both of them had frozen. Yu Yan had stared uncontrollably, her face burning red with bashful embarrassment.

Fu Yunqing’s initial instinct had been to cover herself, but after a moment, her heart softened. She told Yu Yan that if she wanted to, she could kiss it.

“It’s alright,” she had said. “This is very normal between partners.”

Yu Yan had leaned down to kiss her. Overwhelmed by the sensation, she had buried herself in Fu Yunqing’s arms for the rest of the night, too shy to look her in the eye. Yet shame was one thing; the desire ignited within her could never be extinguished. From that moment on, she became obsessed. With Fu Yunqing constantly indulging her, Yu Yan grew increasingly bold, sometimes wanting to keep it in her mouth even while falling asleep.

Was it due to an oral fixation personality? Or a maternal complex? Having been deprived of proper maternal care during infancy, was this her adult self seeking to compensate for what she had lost—or perhaps a search for security?

She surrendered so easily to the sensation, lost in self-forgetful indulgence. It felt as though no amount would ever be enough, and nothing could make her stop.

Only when Fu Yunqing’s hand pressed against her shoulder, repeatedly pushing her away, did Yu Yan finally raise her head. Looking at Fu Yunqing’s flushed face and her expression of dazed endurance, Yu Yan leaned down and arched her neck, rubbing the collar around her throat against her. She used the cool black leather to slowly and delicately smear away the glistening moisture clinging to the tip.

    “…”

By the time they came out of the bathroom after a shower, it was still quite early.

Downstairs, Auntie Zhang was busy preparing dinner. Outside the window, the sky had turned pitch-black, revealing the dazzling, prosperous nightscape of Yuncheng. A dim lamp lit the bedroom as they reclined lazily in each other’s arms on the bed, chatting comfortably about anything and everything.

Their conversation turned once more to the idea of adopting a second cat.

They had actually discussed the matter before their separation, agreeing that Honey got too lonely spending long days at home by herself and that finding her a companion would be best. But before they could put the plan into action, their relationship hit a rough patch, and they divorced before getting the chance to adopt.

“It feels so fast,” Yu Yan remarked suddenly, leaning into her chest while playing with her elegant fingers.

Fu Yunqing looked down at her. “Why do you feel it’s fast?”

Yu Yan pondered for a moment before answering, “We only just remarried not long ago, but Honey was brought home long after we first got together.”

“Are you suggesting our relationship is unstable right now?”

Yu Yan froze for a second, glancing up at Fu Yunqing’s face. Seeing her deadly serious posture, it looked as though she was truly ready to have a thorough discussion about them being “unstable.”

Yu Yan let out a soft chuckle. “I don’t think that at all.”

Fu Yunqing remained silent, watching her quietly.

“I was just reflecting on how, if I were on my own, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to raise a pet at all,” Yu Yan explained softly. “Remember when I told you my dream in life was to raise a cat? I was too afraid to do it alone, but with you beside me, I felt sure of myself. We only got Honey after we had been married for a long time, but now, right after getting back together, I’m already fully prepared. That proves our bond is even sturdier now. I trust you, I rely on you, and the security you give me leaves me without a single doubt about our future. I feel so confident facing whatever comes next, and I can’t wait to welcome a new life into our home with you, even if we only just reunited.”

During the long stretch of time they spent apart, both had missed each other terribly. Now that they were back in each other’s arms, both had matured and understood one another far better. Their love today was immeasurably stronger than it had ever been before.

Especially for Yu Yan herself—when facing potential setbacks in the future, she already knew how to handle them: by facing them together with Fu Yunqing.

She understood now that love was not merely fleeting sweetness and taking from the other. Love was profound empathy, long-term devotion, and unwavering commitment—standing firmly by her partner’s side to shelter each other from every storm.

Fu Yunqing caught her meaning entirely. Enclosing Yu Yan’s restless fingers in her hand, she scolded softly, “Dummy.”

“I’m not a dummy anymore~” Yu Yan hummed playfully.

Only a dummy would ever leave Fu Yunqing.

A smart person would cling to her forever and never let go.

Ah, back when she was sick, her despairing belief that she would never recover had not been wrong after all. Away from Fu Yunqing, she had been cut off from happiness entirely—what good was all that medication anyway?

Fortunately, Fu-jiejie had been waiting for her all along. Fortunately, a sudden twist of fate had brought her back to Fu Yunqing’s side. She would not only heal completely; an endless stream of happiness lay waiting for them.

They were about to welcome their second child, welcoming every day that lay ahead in their future.

Yu Yan had once been someone who could not stand loneliness or boredom, far too playful at heart. Back then, she had often felt time crawled by so slowly and that growing up was a distant reality. Yet in this very moment, lying lazily beside Fu Yunqing with nothing to do, she found herself fearing that time was moving too quickly—fearing they would grow old too fast, and that their precious time together would be too short.

If eternity truly existed, then let time freeze right here, at this very moment. She would willingly remain trapped in this place forever, keeping her company for all eternity.
