On the Wedding Night, I Transmigrated to After the Divorce – Chapter 10
by Little PandaI Was Wrong, I Was Wrong
The moment Yu Yan admitted her mistake, Jiejie’s heart softened.
Only when the girl beneath her palm stopped moving, her eyelashes—fluttering like cicada wings—finally stilling, did Fu Yunqing move her hand away from Yu Yan’s eyes.
Yu Yan kept her eyes quietly closed, her cheeks flushed red and her breathing slightly heavy. It was hard to tell if she had already fallen asleep.
Fu Yunqing touched her cheek; it felt even hotter than before. Afraid the air was getting too stuffy, Fu Yunqing reached over and rolled the car window down a fraction, letting a bit of the cool breeze rush in. But the person in her arms furrowed her brows—whether out of discomfort or because the noise disturbed her was impossible to say.
Just as she was about to say something, Yu Yan suddenly curled her legs and rolled onto her side. She buried her face into Fu Yunqing’s stomach, hiding herself completely aside from one exposed ear.
“You…”
Why does she like doing this so much? Fu Yunqing lowered her head and asked, “Aren’t you feeling suffocated?”
“Sit up, alright?”
The person in her arms gave no answer. She stubbornly stayed right where she was, acting incredibly willful.
Unaccustomed to this, Fu Yunqing felt a flush of heat. She turned her face toward the window and reached out to roll the glass down a little further. With an expression of sheer tolerance, she gazed out at the night scenery, lost in thought. A moment later, she helplessly turned her face back and lowered her eyes.
Gradually, Yu Yan felt the tense body beneath her begin to relax.
Fu Yunqing’s palm rested against the back of Yu Yan’s neck, as if protecting her, making sure she wouldn’t slip down when the car hit a bump.
Happy times were always so fleeting.
They arrived at their destination before Yu Yan had enjoyed enough of it. Fu Yunqing gently woke her. Yu Yan propped herself up, snuggling into Fu-jiejie’s shoulder while whimpering softly. Her hair probably made Fu Yunqing’s neck incredibly ticklish—Yu Yan knew that, but she did it anyway.
Fu Yunqing made no sound. Even as a layer of red crept up her neck, she simply endured it. Her other hand lightly wrapped around Yu Yan’s waist. There was no reprimand; she was just as indulgent as before.
Yu Yan felt that Fu Yunqing was far too accommodating toward her, and far too capable of holding back.
“Be careful.”
After getting out of the car, Yu Yan could barely stand steady. Fu Yunqing supported her as they entered the elevator. Once the floor button was pressed, Yu Yan’s damp, red-rimmed eyes drooped halfway. She leaned against Fu Yunqing’s shoulder in an indescribably intimate and ambiguous posture.
Will Fu-jiejie escort me all the way back to my room? she wondered. If I’m so drunk that I’m practically unconscious, will Fu-jiejie stay behind to take care of me?
Yu Yan wanted that so badly.
And so, Yu Yan became even more “drunk.” When stepping out of the elevator, she could hardly stay on her feet, drawing Fu Yunqing’s frequent, lingering glances.
“Your alcohol tolerance is so poor, yet you drank so much.” Hearing that Yu Yan frequented bars, Fu Yunqing had assumed her tolerance was quite high.
“If you were by yourself, what would you do after drinking like this?”
Fu Yunqing was actually scolding her, yet there was no anger or impatience in her voice—only worry. Yu Yan secretly relished the feeling.
Does Fu Yunqing really care about me this much already?
That was why Yu Yan didn’t refute a single word of the reprimand. Once Fu Yunqing finished speaking, Yu Yan let out a muffled, “I was wrong…”
Perhaps not expecting her to admit her mistake so readily, Fu Yunqing paused, then murmured, “Alright.”
How is it that jiejie’s heart softens the moment I admit I’m wrong? Yu Yan’s eyes curved in a secret smile.
If nothing unexpected happened, Yu Yan would be escorted back to her room by Fu Yunqing. In a space belonging only to the two of them, Fu-jiejie would take care of her. Maybe if she acted cute, Fu-jiejie would even stay to keep her company… sleep with her?
Yu Yan quietly calculated her next move.
But of course, when one assumes nothing unexpected will happen, something unexpected is bound to occur.
Just as Yu Yan lowered her head to dig out her room card, she bumped into Yu Lan, who was just stepping out of her own room. Looking up to meet that woman’s eyes, Yu Yan felt the sky come crashing down.
“How did she get this drunk?” Yu Lan frowned. “Yunqing? What is this?”
“I accompanied her out earlier,” Fu Yunqing said. “She was quite happy, so she drank a little too much at the pub.”
To think she actually managed to get Fu Yunqing to keep her company. Yu Lan found it hard to assign any blame now. “I’m really sorry to trouble you. She hasn’t been very obedient since she was young.”
Fu Yunqing offered a gentle smile. “It was no trouble. She is very well-behaved.”
“As long as she didn’t bother you. I’ll take her back to her room.”
“…”
“Hurry up and get back inside. Take a proper shower and go to sleep. There are still things to do tomorrow; don’t hold everyone up.” Yu Lan glared at Yu Yan. Naturally, Fu Yunqing handed her over to her mother.
“Oh…” Yu Yan replied reluctantly. Casting one last lingering glance at Fu Yunqing, she said, “Goodnight, Fu-jiejie.”
Fu Yunqing looked back at her. “…Goodnight.”
Relying on her drunkenness to act willfully, only to run into the dreadful Yu Lan—Yu Yan was more or less annoyed. But aside from that, she also felt a sliver of inexplicable delight.
Because within Fu Yunqing’s elegant and secretive eyes, she had seen something akin to worry—or perhaps reluctance to part.
She knew that she definitely wasn’t the only one unhappy about this abrupt separation.
The click of the door closing acted like some sort of switch. In front of Yu Lan, Yu Yan dropped the act completely. She stood perfectly steady, her eyes no longer looking pitiful, and found her own change of clothes to take into the bathroom. Yu Lan took all this in without saying a word.
“Go to sleep early,” Yu Lan instructed.
Yu Yan didn’t respond.
After her shower, Yu Yan had mostly sobered up. Although she was still a little dizzy, it wasn’t to the point where she would fall asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
In truth, she had been faking her drunkenness the entire way.
Sprawled on her stomach across the bed, she unlocked her phone, curious to see if Fu Yunqing had sent her any messages.
Sure enough, there was one. Three minutes ago, Fu Yunqing had left her a message: 【Go to sleep early】
Yu Yan: 【My mom left】
Yu Yan: 【It’s all her fault】 It was all her fault for ruining Yu Yan’s good thing.
Yu Yan: 【She doesn’t care about me at all. Even when I’m feeling awful, she doesn’t care】
Now that she had wrongfully accused Yu Lan just a little bit, the groundwork was pretty much laid.
Taking advantage of the fact that Fu Yunqing hadn’t replied yet, Yu Yan pressed her advantage: 【I really want to go sleep in Fu-jiejie’s room】
Yu Yan sent a sticker of a 【Cat rolling up its bedroll shouting: Wife, I’m here】.
What is Fu Yunqing thinking about right now?
【The other party is typing…】 flashed at the top of the chat box for a good while before disappearing. After a long pause, Fu Yunqing replied: 【Where do you feel awful?】
Yu Yan: 【My head is so dizzy】
Fu Yunqing: 【Have you showered yet?】
Yu Yan instantly replied: 【I washed until I smell super sweet. There’s no alcohol smell at all】
Fu Yunqing: 【Then pull up the covers and go to sleep】
Pull up the covers and go to sleep?
Did Fu Yunqing really mean that? Yu Yan was so unwilling to accept this!
Yu Yan: 【But I’m already at jiejie’s door】 Driven by her unwillingness, Yu Yan accidentally sent that sentence out.
In reality, she hadn’t moved an inch. She was just talking nonsense.
But when Fu Yunqing stopped replying, a certain mischievous someone started to feel a bit guilty. Did Fu Yunqing actually believe her? Yu Yan was obviously just spouting nonsense; she was always acting like this.
If—if she really had to go to Fu Yunqing’s room, she absolutely wouldn’t be as uninhibited as she was right now. She might even be very shy. Truthfully, she wasn’t quite ready to share a room with Fu Yunqing yet.
Yu Yan suddenly felt a twinge of regret. She wanted to unsend the message, but Fu Yunqing must have already seen it. What would be the point of retracting it now?
Yu Yan glanced toward the door, actually hesitating over whether she should make a move.
Just as she was wavering, at a complete loss for what to do, Fu Yunqing—who had vanished for nearly two minutes—finally replied: 【Liar】
Yu Yan’s heart gave a tight squeeze.
