On the Wedding Night, I Transmigrated to After the Divorce – Chapter 15
by Little PandaThe First Time
Fu Yunqing becomes clearly aware of her desire to kiss her
Fu Yunqing was sitting on the edge of the bed, and Yu Yan was the patient sitting on the bed holding her hand. She looked so weak, having only just broken her fever, her complexion yet to recover—but how could her actions and the thoughts hidden in her heart be so bold? Her breath was like a feather, slow and exceptionally light, brushing irregularly against the side of Fu Yunqing’s face. She puckered her lips slightly and planted a very real kiss on Fu Yunqing.
How could Fu Yunqing not know that the sensation was a kiss? All at once, she didn’t know how to react. Yu Yan also found it a little unbelievable. She slowly pulled back, only understanding how to be shy after the deed was done. But she really hadn’t been able to suppress the urge to get close to Fu Yunqing—she had wanted to kiss Fu Yunqing for a long time!
Yu Yan grew even more nervous. Her lips parted slightly as she nervously stole glances at Fu Yunqing’s reaction.
I’m doomed.
That’s a foul.
I went too far.
How did she just go up and kiss her? Yu Yan was truly someone who acted without regard for the consequences; she was much too impulsive.
“…Alright,” Fu Yunqing’s breath was a little unsteady. She stood up, not looking at Yu Yan. “I’m going to leave first.”
“…En.”
Yu Yan replied obediently. For some inexplicable reason, the sound poked at Fu Yunqing’s heart. Somehow, Fu Yunqing had the illusion that the girl was disappointed. And so, she couldn’t resist looking back at her.
She looked down from above. Yu Yan was sitting on the bed, her hands outside the blanket clutching the covers as she watched her leave. Inexplicably, Fu Yunqing’s heart softened a fraction.
“Rest well. If your eyes hurt, don’t play on your phone too much. I brought you some pudding; if you have an appetite, try a little. If you need anything, send me a WeChat message.” She spoke, offering words of care in a tone that was rather unnatural compared to her usual self.
In short, she was gentle. She didn’t blame her, nor was she disgusted. Clever Yu Yan even managed to read between the lines.
“En~” Yu Yan responded with exceptional enthusiasm this time, her tone sweet and clingy. Her eyes curved into crescents, as if showing just how happy and obedient she was to Fu Yunqing’s words.
Fu Yunqing’s heart was stirred once again.
Only she herself knew that she suddenly had a strong urge to pet Yu Yan’s head. It was just a pity that her body had moved a step faster than her thoughts; she was already walking toward the door.
Closing the door softly, Fu Yunqing stood in the corridor. She raised her hand to touch the spot Yu Yan had just kissed, her thoughts drifting. A servant walking toward her greeted her, and she lowered her hand, giving a reserved, aristocratic nod.
Hidden beneath her thick, long hair, no one would notice her reddened ears.
Inside the room, Yu Yan covered her face and let out a tiny internal squeal before turning to message her besties.
Yu Yan: 【Kissed Wife!】
Shen Rui: 【Kissed where?】
Liang Su: 【Kissed where?】
Huo Xixi: 【Kissed where?!】
Yu Yan: 【Cheek, obviously】
Shen Rui: 【What was her reaction?】
Yu Yan: 【I think she was a little shy】
Shen Rui: 【Sigh, so hard to imagine】
Liang Su: 【Did she blush?】
Yu Yan replied: 【She ran away super fast】
Huo Xixi: 【This progress isn’t great. You’ve been stuck together for days now, why hasn’t our Wanton Sister pushed her down1 yet?】
Yu Yan replied: 【What the heck! What ‘Wanton Sister’, that’s so funny】
Huo Xixi: 【Didn’t you call yourself a wanton woman? Why are you playing the pure love2 card with a kiss on the cheek?】
Yu Yan in all seriousness: 【I was afraid of scaring Wife. I didn’t even expect her to be so shy】
Yu Yan: 【So, we have to take it slowly】
The three of them: 【Alright, alright, everything is under Yan-jie’s control】
Yu Yan: 【Hehe jpg.】
No good. After playing on her phone for a little while, Yu Yan’s eyes grew so uncomfortable they teared up, and she started feeling dizzy again. She tossed her phone aside, buried her head in the covers, and went back to sleep.
Because of the joy of kissing Fu Yunqing, Yu Yan’s body had temporarily blocked out the virus. She was so happy she actually thought she had fully recovered, but of course, the virus wouldn’t let her off that easily. She slept stifled under the blanket, and when she woke up, it was from the heat. The high fever had returned. Yu Yan felt like her brain had been roasted to mush. She lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. Her reactions were exceptionally, exceptionally slow. Her phone lit up again and again several times before she picked it up to glance at it, but she was in no mood to reply. She tossed it aside and wanted to close her eyes to continue sleeping, but she couldn’t fall asleep no matter what.
She checked the time. Six in the evening. Yu Lan was calling her to the dining room for dinner.
Yu Yan sat up, took a moment to recover, and got out of bed to wash up.
Fu Yunqing hadn’t sought her out; she was probably still resting.
Yu Lan was sitting in the dining room waiting. She had already ordered the meal. The two didn’t exchange many words. Yu Lan asked if her fever had broken, and Yu Yan responded with noncommittal hums. She had just as little patience for the impatient, fierce woman.
Every time she caught a fever, it would come and go repeatedly. Fortunately, after burning for so long, Yu Yan had basically grown immune to it. Aside from being tormented into a wilted state, feeling dizzy, slow to react, having a sore throat, not wanting to speak, and being generally unhappy, there was no extraordinary discomfort.
“Go back and rest well. Tomorrow morning, we’re going to try on wedding dresses.”
Yu Yan said an internal Oh, not even lifting her head.
Aside from maintaining an exquisite appearance, Yu Lan also valued efficiency. She ate quickly and left first as soon as she finished. Yu Yan continued to slowly eat her exquisite Western meal alone. Because of her sickly complexion and lack of energy, she looked exceptionally lonely and pitiful.
Just as she finished the last spoonful of mushroom soup and wiped her mouth with a napkin, preparing to stand up, she raised her eyes. Fu Yunqing appeared in her line of sight.
Yu Yan froze. She immediately planted her half-raised rear back into the chair.
Fu Yunqing had probably taken a shower. She was wearing a beige nightgown, looking so gentle and elegant that Yu Yan couldn’t tear her eyes away. Whether her throat hurt too much or her brain was simply too dull, she didn’t open her mouth to greet Fu Yunqing. She just watched blankly as Fu-jiejie walked right up to her.
Yu Yan sat in her chair. Fu Yunqing stood by her side. Yu Yan tilted her head up to look at her. Along with the fragrance wafting from her body came a hand that gently supported the back of Yu Yan’s neck, while the other warm palm felt her forehead.
Yu Yan blinked and obediently lowered her eyes.
Over the past two days, she didn’t even know how many times Fu Yunqing had touched her forehead. Perhaps Fu Yunqing was already used to it, but from this moment, Yu Yan derived a wondrous sensation she hadn’t felt before. She finally realized how much she enjoyed being so familiarly cared for.
It was as if caring for her had already become Fu Yunqing’s habit.
“You’re burning up again.” Fu Yunqing furrowed her brow. Just walking over, she had noticed Yu Yan’s condition was off. Her complexion and state were even worse than when she had first woken up in the afternoon.
“Is it uncomfortable?” She lowered her head, softly asking the girl who was nearly pressed into her embrace. She truly didn’t understand how someone could repeatedly spike a fever so many times.
Yu Yan shook her head. Her blank, drooping brow and eyes made her look incredibly wronged.
Fu Yunqing sighed inwardly. Sliding her palm up to smooth the hair by Yu Yan’s ear, she whispered, “Let me take you to the hospital, alright?”
Yu Yan shook her head even more violently. She even frowned, expressing extreme reluctance.
She didn’t want to go to the hospital.
“Then go back and rest once you’re full,” Fu Yunqing said. “Do you want me to accompany you upstairs?”
She knew Yu Yan was very clingy toward her, and she didn’t want her to feel lonely while sick. When she had seen Yu Yan sitting all alone from afar just now, she had wondered—why didn’t the girl tell her she was coming down to eat? Why did she prefer to be alone, when she clearly disliked being by herself and heavily relied on others?
Was it because of that kiss… Had Fu Yunqing acted too coldly toward her?
Yu Yan still shook her head.
Yu Yan didn’t make a sound, but those eyes stared fixedly at Fu Yunqing without looking away for a second. She clearly needed her, yet refused to say it. Fu Yunqing was certainly not lacking in patience for her. She asked softly, “Then what do you want?”
“To-accompany-jiejie-to-eat…” Yu Yan strained her throat, which felt as if she had swallowed razor blades, to forcefully squeeze out those few words.
“…”
The manor’s dinner was sumptuous. After a waiter cleared away the used dishes and quickly served new ones, Fu Yunqing sat down beside Yu Yan to eat. She tried attempting to feed Yu Yan, but the other woman shook her head to indicate she wasn’t eating. Yet a short while later, a small saucer of deboned lamb chops was pushed in front of Fu Yunqing.
She didn’t speak. She merely looked at Fu Yunqing with a beautiful pair of eyes. Beneath the distress of her illness hid a streak of friendliness that inexplicably made Fu Yunqing think of a small animal sharing its food.
“No need, I can do it myself.” Since when was there a rule that the patient should be the one feeding her?
But Yu Yan was very happy to do so.
She knew that her kiss earlier had been far too preemptive and might have caused Fu-jiejie no small amount of trouble. So she decided she needed to be a little more obedient right now. She wouldn’t do anything out of line. With her throat hurting and her voice hoarse, she couldn’t say any sweet nothings either, so she could only help Jiejie debone her meat and peel her shrimp, tactfully expressing her affection.
And so, not long after, a small saucer of peeled shrimp was pushed in front of Fu Yunqing again.
Fu Yunqing: “…”
Silently processing the food without saying a single word—she really was like a small animal… So obedient it made one’s heart soften.
Yu Yan kept her company until Fu Yunqing finished eating, then followed her upstairs. Before parting, she made a request for Fu Yunqing to accompany her to try on wedding dresses tomorrow.
Even if Yu Yan hadn’t fully recovered, she still had to go try on the wedding dress, because the wedding was right around the corner. Even if it was custom-tailored to her measurements, they feared there might be inappropriate areas that needed altering.
The next morning, after breakfast, Yu Yan and Fu Yunqing headed out together.
Yu Yan still wasn’t very active. She silently clung to Fu Yunqing’s arm and followed by her side, like a quiet, obedient little pendant.
But in reality, she was quite looking forward to trying on the wedding dress. She had specifically put on some light makeup for the occasion. After all, she had never worn one before, so she harbored a natural yearning for it.
She followed Fu Yunqing into the room where the wedding dress was kept. The dress’s designer was also present, explaining the design concepts and such to her in English. Knowing she might not catch everything, Fu Yunqing acted as a translator by her side.
“Back then, when I asked what kind of wedding dress you wanted, you said it just needed to look good. So I went with my own feeling…”
“It looks good…” Yu Yan responded hoarsely.
At this moment, the wedding dress was draped over a mannequin. A beam of light shone down on it. It was so grand, so exquisitely beautiful that it left one speechless. Yu Yan stood before it in a daze for a moment. The feeling that followed was a string of wow, so detailed, so many diamonds, so dreamy. She couldn’t wait to try it on.
The joy dancing between her brows showed that her spirits were high. Guided into the changing room, she patiently spent a great deal of effort changing into the wedding dress. She felt the dress was extremely elaborate and somewhat heavy to wear, but that couldn’t suppress her delighted mood. Gathering the skirt with slight unfamiliarity, she walked out with small, quick steps and came to a stop in front of the mirror.
Fu Yunqing had already come to try on her own wedding dress while Yu Yan was sick, and some unsatisfactory areas were currently being altered. So for this trip, she had come purely to accompany Yu Yan. As Yu Yan stood in front of the mirror, leaning close to her, Fu Yunqing only had to turn her head slightly to see her appearance—
The wedding dress seemed to fit perfectly. On her, it brought out the exact feeling Fu Yunqing had fantasized about. But what drew the eye even more than the wedding dress was the person herself. Yu Yan stood slightly sideways, appraising herself in the mirror. She could see that she looked very good. She knew she was so pretty, and she was very satisfied. Her brows and eyes were filled with joy, the corners of her lips curled up, and the flesh on her cheeks puffed up slightly. Just as she had said, she had dimples when she smiled—but her eyes were still the most beautiful.
How should one describe her eyes? They were like the moon hidden in the night sky—not overly dazzling or blindingly bright, but softly, genuinely present. They were radiant, joyous, and pure, carrying a touch of comforting playfulness and sparkling with secret delight. With a single glance, they could siphon away all the attention of whoever looked up at them, making them linger to peek at the young girl’s joy.
Fu Yunqing saw her red-rimmed eyes and the tip of her nose. She knew her body was unwell; she was sickly, lacking strength, and probably still in discomfort. Yet she had still put on makeup to try on the wedding dress. She had gathered her spirits to gaze at her reflection in the wedding dress with such genuine delight, even though this marriage had initially been nothing more than a transaction, and she was the one who had been forced into it.
Fu Yunqing stared blankly at her in the mirror. Yu Yan raised a hand to adjust her bangs, turned her head to look at Fu Yunqing, and asked with a smile, “Is it pretty?”
For the first time, or rather, for the first time so clearly and intensely, Fu Yunqing realized her own desire to kiss her.
“Very pretty,” Fu Yunqing said softly.
If possible, Fu Yunqing kind of wished that from the very beginning, this was just a pure wedding where they loved each other.
The transaction was a defilement. It defiled Yu Yan’s purity and heartfelt joy. Fu Yunqing was moved by her, and couldn’t bear it.
