On the Wedding Night, I Transmigrated to After the Divorce – Chapter 18
by Little PandaFainted
Wedding night
The two of them returned to the open-air banquet, where the guests were already mingling and raising their glasses.
The attendees were almost entirely elites and socialites—it truly was a perfect opportunity for networking. Fu Yunqing’s adaptability was excellent; the feverish flush that had risen to her ears earlier had already faded, and she handled the crowd with ease.
Yu Yan, on the other hand, didn’t understand any of this, nor did she care. She had made up her mind long ago: she absolutely would not taint herself with that kind of utilitarian, worldly air. Yu Lan could do whatever she wanted with the company in the future; Yu Yan only needed to inherit the fortune and squander it every day. Actually, regarding this, Yu Yan had often fantasized that Yu Lan had given birth to two daughters. She would have a jiejie who would inherit everything from their mother, including Yu Yan herself. That jiejie would take their mother’s place, working hard to earn money for Yu Yan to spend, allowing her to slack off with complete peace of mind.
Therefore, Yu Yan’s greatest scientific aspiration as a child was: how could she get Yu Lan to give birth to a jiejie for her?
It was all just a fantasy. At present, she still had to wear a smile and follow Fu Yunqing around to toast the guests. The very first person they needed to toast was Fu Yunqing’s Granny.
Granny was an elegant and generous old lady. Yu Yan liked her. She felt Granny was a bit like her own Grandma—both were incredibly warm, not strict in the slightest, and immensely considerate, having even swapped both of their wine glasses for grape juice.
Granny took her hand and said, “You should drink less, it’s not good for your health. I had someone swap your wine for grape juice. No one else will be able to tell.”
Yu Yan smiled. “Granny is so thoughtful. I never drink. I don’t even know how. I’m super good, so please don’t worry, Granny.”
Just as her voice fell, Yu Yan heard Fu Yunqing laugh.
Oh no. Super-rich families like theirs definitely did background checks before a marriage of convenience, right? There were times when she spent five nights a week at a lesbian bar1! It was over. Yu Yan felt a sudden wave of guilt, but Granny just chuckled, not exposing her at all. “Such a good girl2. Fu-jiejie should learn from you.”
Fu Yunqing very generously played along. “Mn, I’ll learn from her.”
“You two… even though us elders matched you up, you still need to live well together. Support each other, care for each other, and don’t be cold… Ah, you two probably won’t be like that. It looks like you have a pretty good relationship, yes? Alright then, go on, go on.”
What a wonderful Granny. Yu Yan thought Fu Yunqing was truly lucky to have grown up under such gentle upbringing, unlike herself. Sigh. Yu Yan let out a melancholy breath, feeling a twinge of bitterness.
However, her attention was quickly diverted as Fu Yunqing led her around to meet her friends one by one. Fu Yunqing’s friends were just like her—they all gave off such a strong
jie3vibe.
Every one of them had a beautiful smile; every one of them was overflowing with charm. They kept affectionately calling Yu Yan “little sister.” “Hello, jiejies”—who could possibly understand the absolute thrill Yu Yan felt when she said that phrase?
The woman who had caught Fu Yunqing’s bouquet earlier was named Xu Man. She was a gorgeous woman with a lazy, relaxed aura. As for why Fu Yunqing had tossed the bouquet to her, this was her explanation: “I have someone I like. Yunqing probably wanted me to use this bouquet to confess my feelings, right?”
“Wow, really?” Yu Yan smoothly offered her blessings. “Then I wish you success in your confession.”
Xu Man laughed aloud and looked at Fu Yunqing, putting on an envious expression. “Yunqing’s little sister is really so sweet.”
Master Yu4 was indeed very sweet. Master Yu knew it.
Toasting, taking photos, smiling apologetically… Yu Yan followed behind Fu Yunqing, trying incredibly, incredibly hard to play the role of the polite, sensible, and energetic newlywed wife of the famous Fu Yunqing. She didn’t complain of fatigue, didn’t slack off, and didn’t grumble. She was utterly dedicated to the job.
The white night5 here lasted until nearly ten o’clock. The banquet finally dispersed just as dawn was about to break in Hua Country on the other side of the world.
The very first thing Yu Yan did upon getting into the car was kick off her high heels and collapse onto the seat with a massive gasp of air.
Fu Yunqing got into the car behind her. Seeing her like this, her eyes softened a fraction as she asked quietly, “Are you very tired?”
“Exhausted to death.”
“You worked hard today. You did very well; I could see it.” Fu Yunqing sat down, bending over to move the high heels out of the way.
It took Yu Yan a half-beat to realize that Fu Yunqing was responding to her earlier complaint: ‘I’m so good, don’t you see it?’ In an instant, her heart burst with joy again. She opened her eyes, let out a soft “wu—”, and threw herself into Fu Yunqing’s arms.
Fu Yunqing caught her steadily. Yu Yan was proactive and clingy; she was used to physical intimacy between people, and Fu Yunqing was gradually getting used to it as well. Yielding to what Yu Yan wanted, she stroked the crown of her head and said, “Rest early when we get back.”
“Mn—I’m sleeping until tomorrow afternoon.”
Fu Yunqing’s tone lifted slightly at the end. “Alright.”
Yu Yan thought: Since Fu Yunqing is doting on me so much right now, would she agree to anything? She hugged Fu-jiejie’s waist and nestled quietly against her shoulder for a while.
“Jiejie,” she suddenly called out in a soft, limp voice.
“Mn?” Fu Yunqing lowered her eyes.
Yu Yan didn’t say anything more.
What is this? Calling someone ‘jiejie’ but not saying what she wants.
Fu Yunqing didn’t press her, seemingly accustomed to Yu Yan’s frequent mischief.
“Are you really tired too?” A moment later, Yu Yan pulled back from her embrace and returned to her own seat.
She had originally wanted to lean against Fu Yunqing and sleep for a bit, but suddenly remembered that Fu Yunqing had been just as busy as her today—in fact, she had done far more than Yu Yan had.
Fu Yunqing fell silent for a long moment before saying, “A little bit.”
Yu Yan felt even guiltier.
She hurriedly offered her own shoulder, patting it. “Then lean against me and rest for a while.”
Fu Yunqing’s lips curved up. “No need, we’ll be there soon.”
Yu Yan thought about it. “Then I’ll give you a massage when we get back. Aren’t we sleeping in the same room today? I’ll massage you after we shower.”
Fu Yunqing arched an eyebrow. “Do you know how?”
“Of course I do. Just pinching shoulders and pounding backs, right? It’ll feel good.”
Seeing her so full of enthusiasm, as if all her interest was entirely focused on giving a massage, had she completely forgotten about the kiss Fu Yunqing still owed her? Fu Yunqing thought of easily distracted, easily fooled little kids.
Unable to help herself, Fu Yunqing reached out and used her fingertips to tidy Yu Yan’s slightly messy bangs.
“Alright,” Fu Yunqing said.
Yu Yan just kept her head tilted to the side. Her beautiful eyes, adorned with delicate makeup, stared brightly at Fu Yunqing, letting her touch her however she pleased.
Does Fu-jiejie think I’m incredibly innocent and incredibly cute?
But in reality, Yu Yan wasn’t easy to fool at all.
She was currently thinking about some very wonderful things.
She was thinking: The light skiff has crossed ten thousand mountains6. That damn wedding was finally over. The rest of the time belonged solely to the two of them. They were going to have their wedding night, and every moment of a spring night was worth a thousand gold7. Fu Yunqing still owed her a kiss—just wait and see how she was going to get it back.
Hmph, hmph, Fu Yunqing has basically fallen into a tiger’s den!
Yu Yan’s gaze grew increasingly fervent, making Fu Yunqing feel self-conscious under her stare. She felt she might have underestimated Yu Yan; she wasn’t some innocent little kid who forgot things the moment she turned around.
After smoothing out her hair, Fu Yunqing withdrew her hand, turned her face forward, and stopped looking at her.
Wife is so reserved, Yu Yan thought.
The car quickly drove back to the estate. Yu Yan naturally followed right on Fu Yunqing’s heels as they entered the bridal suite prepared by the estate housekeeper, Ms. Dillon. It was a truly beautiful, massive room. There was a luxurious, soft Western-style sofa, which an exhausted Yu Yan immediately threw herself onto.
Fu Yunqing couldn’t help but chuckle. “Rest for a bit. I’m going to take my makeup off first.”
“Mn.” Yu Yan turned her face to the side, her eyes curving into happy crescents as she watched Fu Yunqing walk into the bathroom.
Sprawled on her stomach, Yu Yan let out a sigh of deep satisfaction.
Everything was finally done. Time became slow and leisurely. They had a long night ahead of them, and Fu Yunqing owed her a kiss.
How were they going to kiss later? Just a light peck, or a French kiss? Would a French kiss be going a bit too far? Fu-jiejie might not be ready to accept that yet. But a light peck seemed a bit boring. Yu Yan needed to think of a fun way to play this.
She racked her brains, flipping through every piece of experience she had ever heard or seen. Finally, she thought of something. Excitement surging, she stood up to go find her wife. But before she could even take two steps, her vision suddenly went black.
Yu Yan fainted.
The author has something to say:
Yan-jie: I hate the whole world 😭
