Peaches and Plums Don’t Speak – Chapter 141
by Little PandaWhere Her Heart Finds Peace (Part Two)
Anzhi jumped onto Yan Xi’s back, wrapping her arms around her neck and burying her face in her hair to take a deep, greedy sniff. Then she tried to slip back down; after all, she was no longer a child, and she was afraid Yan Xi wouldn’t be able to bear her weight.
She laughed as she called out her name, filling the entire room with her laughter.
Yan Xi reached back to support her, steadily carrying her over to the sofa. Anzhi hopped happily onto the sofa, and as Yan Xi turned around, she pulled her straight into her arms.
Yan Xi’s embrace had her familiar fragrance and a slightly rapid heartbeat. Pulling her down to sit, she held her a little tighter.
Feeling the deep longing underlying this sequence of movements, a bright smile spread across Anzhi’s face. She leaned in closer and wrapped her arms tightly around her.
The two of them held each other for a while, reluctant to let go.
Their eyes met, both wearing sweet smiles.
Yan Xi’s fingers caressed her cheek. Her red lips lowered, pressing against Anzhi’s in slow motion, giving her a gentle peck. She didn’t speak or move away, lingering just a millimeter from her lips.
Anzhi was so teased that her cheeks burned. A soft, disgruntled moan escaped her throat. Yan Xi’s lips descended once more, rubbing against her lips before quickly parting them, kissing her deeply, devouring her.
Only when they both ran out of breath did Yan Xi slowly release her. “Taotao, you can come back now?” she murmured.
Caressing Anzhi’s face, she asked softly, “Why didn’t you tell me beforehand? I could’ve picked you up.”
Anzhi curled up completely in her arms, her eyes curving as she caught her breath. “Yeah, I snagged a cheaper ticket, and I wanted to give you a surprise…”
Yan Xi’s eyes curved. “It really was a surprise.”
“I’m so happy.”
Recalling the kiss they’d just shared, Anzhi’s face grew even hotter.
Yan Xi gently pinched her chin. “Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?”
“A little hungry. Is there anything to eat at home?”
Yan Xi thought for a moment and said apologetically, “There doesn’t seem to be anything good in the fridge. How about we go out to eat?”
Anzhi shook her head. “No, traffic was terrible on the way here, and the air conditioning in the car I took had a weird smell. I don’t want to go out again.”
Anzhi said softly, nestling comfortably in her arms.
“All right, is there anything you want to eat? I’ll go buy it,” Yan Xi asked gently.
“…I want jianbing guozi1,” Anzhi said, her dimples appearing shyly as she spoke.
Yan Xi smiled and leaned down to kiss her again.
She really did go out to buy it for her.
Anzhi ran to the first-floor kitchen’s fridge to look inside, finding tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and a small piece of chicken breast.
She had just nimbly finished making two bowls of cold noodles when Yan Xi returned with the piping-hot jianbing guozi.
The two of them sat around the dining table. Anzhi took a bite of the crepe and then a mouthful of cold noodles, thoroughly enjoying herself. She offered the jianbing guozi to Yan Xi’s mouth. Although Yan Xi didn’t crave it as much, she still took a bite to indulge her.
Anzhi giggled, eating happily.
Yan Xi picked up some noodles. The bright red tomato chunks, pale green cucumber shreds, tender yellow egg shreds, and beige chicken shreds sat in a cool, sweet broth. It tasted crisp and refreshing, not greasy at all, and low in calories.
Her lips curved up. Even if it was just a bowl of noodles, as long as it was made for her, Anzhi would pour her heart into it, making it perfect in color, aroma, and taste. Because of her, her life had been painted with so many vibrant colors, becoming beautiful and diverse.
After dinner, they didn’t go out. Once they had cleaned up the dining room and kitchen, they squeezed onto the living room sofa to chat.
“Taotao, how many days can you stay home this time?” Yan Xi asked softly, her eyes never leaving Anzhi’s face.
“I’ll stay for about two months. If anything comes up, it can be handled via email. I brought my computer back,” Anzhi said after a moment’s thought.
Delight lit up Yan Xi’s face. She gently stroked Anzhi’s hair. “Then do you want to go out and have some fun? I can adjust my schedule to get a few days off.”
“Really?” Anzhi asked excitedly. “Can we?”
“Of course. You pick the place,” Yan Xi chuckled softly.
Anzhi let out a loud cheer, jumped up from the sofa, and pounced on Yan Xi, who caught her with a warm chuckle…
Night fell quietly. Yan Xi went to remove her makeup and take a shower, while Anzhi happily searched for travel guides online, ultimately deciding on Sichuan to see the pandas.
Since she was back, she naturally had to see Yang Mengmeng and the others, so she left her a message on WeChat. After browsing the internet for a while, with a lively variety show playing on the projection screen, Anzhi curled up comfortably on the sofa. She felt that home was still the most comfortable and reassuring place, mostly because Yan Xi was here.
Recalling their earlier kiss, Anzhi felt that Yan Xi had been quite passionate. Perhaps it was really like what people said—a brief separation is better than being newly wedded.
It was a common state for long-distance lovers. Her neighbor in Boston, Duanmu, didn’t live with her boyfriend, but whenever he visited, they wouldn’t leave their room for days, and Anzhi would occasionally hear some intimate sounds coming from her room.
Anzhi thought shyly, What “newlyweds”? Yan Xi and I haven’t even “wed” yet.
“Have you decided where to go?” Yan Xi asked, brushing through her half-dry hair. She’d changed into a camisole nightdress that only reached her knees, leaning against the doorframe with a soft, gentle smile in her eyes.
The soft light from the bedroom spilled over, as if golden light were flowing over her slender, elegant feet.
Anzhi’s face flushed slightly. “Yeah, to Chengdu.”
“Sure, let’s decide on that. Last time I went, I didn’t stay many days either. I think I went to see the pandas, but I don’t really remember it anymore.” Yan Xi paused, looking at Anzhi tenderly. “I was thinking back then, how wonderful it would’ve been if you were there with me.”
Anzhi also looked at her quietly.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. They just gazed at each other, their hearts connected, everything understood without words.
“Hah, who does that? Seeing such cute animals and then saying you don’t have any impression of them,” Anzhi said playfully.
“I…” Yan Xi suppressed a smile and said, “I just think rabbits are cuter, that’s all.”
She had said this before, in a WeChat Moments post, written specifically for her to see. It had felt so sweet back then, and now it was even sweeter.
Yan Xi thought of the torment and hesitation in her heart during that time, glad that she hadn’t figured it out too late, and she also had a good feeling about that city.
“We can stay for a few more days this time.” Yan Xi sat down and took her into her arms. “It’s all up to you.”
Anzhi snuggled against her happily, full of happiness and satisfaction, talking about her plans and her schedule for tomorrow’s errands.
Yan Xi loved how she looked when she was enthusiastic, her eyes bright and shining.
Captivated by her smiling gaze, Anzhi couldn’t help but lean in and kiss her. Yan Xi pulled her close, sealing her lips, entering her mouth as they kissed each other.
It didn’t stop there. Yan Xi quickly went a step further, touching the seductive curves hidden beneath her clothes, and her kisses grew hot.
For lovers who hadn’t seen each other in a long time, no amount of intimacy was too much.
Anzhi had missed her terribly these past few months. Her breathing grew rapid, leaning against her as if she had no bones, her legs clad in shorts gently rubbing against hers.
Anzhi’s T-shirt was pulled up, revealing a hint of her ribs and her fair waist. The warmth of Yan Xi’s palm immediately pressed against the skin beneath her clothes…
Anzhi hunched her shoulders, her breathing rapid and trembling, as she murmured, “Yi… Yi…”
Yan Xi gently bit her ear, whispering, “Let’s go to bed, okay?”
Anzhi’s cheeks were crimson. She licked her dry lips, her eyelashes trembling shyly. Just as she moved her feet, Yan Xi caught her. “I’ll carry you.”
Anzhi turned her head away, murmuring softly, “I’ll walk myself. You can’t carry me anymore…”
Yan Xi put one arm behind her back and hooked the other under her legs, her voice slightly hoarse. “Carrying you to my bed is still fine.”
With that, she lifted her in a princess carry. Anzhi bit her lip, burying her burning face in her neck.
There was no light in the room, but the moon outside was exceptionally bright tonight. Everything fell into place naturally. The countless uncontrollable melodies of the past were only to compose this beautiful piece tonight.
Yan Xi grabbed Anzhi’s T-shirt, unbuttoned her shorts, paused the deep kiss, and slipped off her clothes.
Anzhi was trembling all over. Shy and timid, she pulled the air-conditioning quilt over herself, wrapping herself up. Still not satisfied, she covered her head and face, not daring to look at her.
She knew what was about to happen.
She was so nervous her toes curled up.
But her entire body was anticipating Yan Xi.
Anzhi thought, she hoped Yan Xi wouldn’t misunderstand her burying herself under the quilt. She wasn’t rejecting her; she was tacitly consenting to any of her actions.
Anzhi shrank into a ball from shyness, feeling Yan Xi gently caressing her, and couldn’t help but wonder what expression she had on her face right now.
She loved the way Yan Xi gazed at her, with eyes that held a hint of heat, and that gentle, slightly ambiguous affection.
And her kisses and touches—in the moments after the lights went out in the past, she had already tasted their flavor, and Anzhi had shamefully reminisced about them in the deep of the night more than once.
She pulled back a small corner of the quilt, and just as she took a breath, Yan Xi seized the opportunity. Her warm, soft kiss descended, and at the same time, her hands explored, tenderly loving her.
Yan Xi kissed her lips, kissing downward bit by bit, brushing aside the quilt bit by bit.
The soft kisses went all the way down. Anzhi arched her body, her eyes misty, and in that haze, she glimpsed the beautiful moonlight.
The quilt was completely pulled away, and Anzhi felt herself enveloped in Yan Xi’s gaze—a gentle, slightly hot gaze. Then she drew close, sinking deeply into the mattress with her.
The faint, misty moonlight was no match for the intense passion in the room. Spread across the snowy-white pillow was a sheet of glossy, dark hair, from which fair, delicate wrists emerged, trembling as they tried to clutch the fabric of the pillow…
Anzhi felt as though she were dissolving in boundless, endless water. She couldn’t stop her pink lips from parting, letting out soft moans and quiet weeps.
A flourishing love burned in Yan Xi’s eyes. Murmuring her name, she slowly lowered her head, her hair brushing over Anzhi like flowing water…
It was already afternoon. Xiao Yutong had made an appointment with her beautician for a treatment and bought a few clothes along the way. Ever since Grandfather and Grandmother Yan passed away, the house had lost its vitality for a period. She took charge of having the house renovated, sending Yan Yidong to live at his work unit while she and Junjun moved into Yan Xi’s home. Auntie Xin had gone to Yan Yinan’s house to help look after the baby.
After some time, everyone’s spirits were much better. Every month, Yan Yixi and Yan Yinan’s families would also come over, and the two newborn babies were sometimes left at the old residence to be cared for.
However, Xiao Yutong felt a little lost. Ever since she married Yan Yidong, she hadn’t gone out to work. All these years, she had been taking care of the two elders, managing a large household, and raising the children. Now, suddenly, she was completely idle.
After a brief period of confusion, she quickly recovered. Years of dealing with the endless, heavy, and trivial household matters had trained her ability to make quick decisions in the midst of chaos.
She signed up for yoga classes, weekly beauty treatments, helped with the children, and started contacting old classmates. She didn’t need to go back to work; her investment eye had been very good over the years, so she only needed more market information.
Also, she would launch a surprise inspection at Yan Yidong’s work unit every month, and she had already built a good relationship with his chief of staff.
Xiao Yutong was very satisfied with her current state. She was nearly fifty, fair-skinned and plump. She made all the decisions in the household now, her husband’s siblings were closer to her than to their own brother, and the children were fairly obedient.
Now in middle age, she had nothing to worry or fret about.
The summer sunshine was wonderful, the flowering trees in full bloom, their fragrance carrying on the breeze. Since she had just bought some imported cherries, Xiao Yutong checked the time and made a detour to Yan Xi’s neighborhood on her way.
She still had the keys, and the security guard remembered her, so she quickly entered the villa district and parked her car.
She unlocked the door and entered the house. Yan Xi shouldn’t be back yet, right? Carrying a small basket of cherries, Xiao Yutong passed the living room and walked toward the kitchen.
Hearing a crisp, sweet laugh, Xiao Yutong recognized it as Anzhi’s voice, wondering when she had returned.
She quickly walked to the dining room. Just as she was about to speak, the scene before her hit her like a bolt of lightning.
Anzhi was held in Yan Xi’s arms, the two of them sitting on a single chair, intimately feeding each other. Anzhi was wearing a small tank dress, which was very short. Yan Xi’s hand was resting on her snowy, tender thigh.
Xiao Yutong froze in horror.
