    Them (Part 5)

It was deep into the night, and snow was falling.

The two of them didn’t speak for a moment. Outside, the babies were still crying, accompanied by the warm, soothing voices of the elders.

Anzhi grabbed the quilt draped over herself and pulled it toward Yan Xi, wrapping them both inside. Then she rested her head on Yan Xi’s shoulder.

Yan Xi’s scent was lovely—faint, her breathing light and shallow. From her angle, looking down, she could see the rise and fall of her collar, revealing a hint of fair, luminous skin.

Looking up, there was the warm, faintly pulsing carotid artery. Just leaning against each other without speaking, it felt like a couple in a romance movie under a starry sky.

Anzhi secretly curved her eyes into a smile. Although she felt a tiny bit guilty about ignoring the commotion outside, she was still very happy and blissful.

The babies’ cries outside gradually weakened, but there were still footsteps pacing back and forth—probably Auntie Xin and Xiao Yutong carrying the children as they walked and soothed them to sleep.

Anzhi’s leg moved, brushing against Yan Xi’s. Yan Xi let out a soft “Mm,” patted her, and whispered, “I should go over now.”

Anzhi froze, then without thinking hooked her leg over Yan Xi’s to cling to her. “Don’t go. Stay here and sleep with me, okay?”

Yan Xi’s movement to get up halted at her actions and words. She gave her a slightly helpless look. “Do you know what you’re saying?”

Anzhi belatedly realized her words were a bit suggestive. Her face heated, and she met Yan Xi’s gaze. “Can’t we… sleep together anymore?”

Yan Xi truly didn’t know how to answer for a moment: “…”

“I… I only have ten days of vacation. Soon I’ll have to go back to America.” Anzhi’s face reddened further. To Yan Xi, her gaze was both innocent and alluring.

She hadn’t known before that a girl’s eyes could hold such magic. But Yan Xi hesitated—falling asleep in the same bed was no longer as safe as it used to be. This was uncharted territory for her as well.

She felt a little bewildered, yet also a little tempted.

Anzhi tugged at her sleeve, slowly pulling her back onto the bed. Her soft body pressed against Yan Xi’s. Her dimples shyly appeared first, then her small pink lips parted slightly and bravely met Yan Xi’s lips.

Yan Xi closed her eyes, letting her kiss playfully.

It was rare for Anzhi to take the lead. She gently brushed her lips against Yan Xi’s. Yan Xi tasted sweet, soft—lips she had only been able to imagine before, now like tender petals that seemed to melt between her own lips and teeth.

Yan Xi kept her feathered lashes closed, breathing faintly, as if acquiescing—or perhaps hesitating, lost in thought. Anzhi felt a strange sensation in her heart, wanting Yan Xi to reveal more emotion.

Anzhi’s lips moved downward, kissing Yan Xi’s porcelain chin, when an idea suddenly struck her.

She carefully, slowly touched the tip of her tongue to Yan Xi’s earlobe. She saw Yan Xi’s lashes quiver, her brow twitch. Anzhi pressed on, kissing along her delicate jawline all the way to her fair, tender ear.

She felt Yan Xi jolt violently, as if struck by electricity. Yan Xi opened her eyes, her gaze a little dazed but glistening with moisture. She said, puzzled, “Taotao…”

Anzhi gave her a deep look, then continued to take her earlobe into her mouth, exploring down along her neck.

A tiny, barely suppressed moan escaped from between Yan Xi’s lips and teeth. She tried to dodge but couldn’t. Anzhi’s soft cheek was against her neck, and she seemed encouraged, gently nuzzling and kissing.

Normally, such actions would already count as foreplay, but Yan Xi wasn’t sure if Anzhi understood that. Yet her movements were so passionate, if a little clumsy.

The more unconscious and instinctive the movements, the more seductive they were—especially as she murmured lowly while kissing, “Auntie… Auntie…”

Anzhi’s breath was right by her ear, scorching like fire.

Yan Xi paused for just an instant, then let out a sharp, soft moan—then another. She bit her lip, because in the chaos she heard footsteps in the hallway outside again: Xiao Yutong walking and soothing the baby.

Yan Xi struggled to stay calm, but the girl leaning over her had already kissed along her neck to the other earlobe. Her damp, soft breath enveloped her, calling out to her in a low voice.

    “Auntie…”

Shivers rippled through her body. Her vision blurred slightly. She tried to protest, “Taotao… you can’t call me Auntie anymore… mmph…”

The girl’s fragrant, slightly moist lips found hers and sealed them. Her tongue was deft, slipping inside at once and stealing her breath.

Yan Xi lost the initiative again and again. Her mind went completely blank, and she could only passively let her kiss.

The girl had fully mastered the techniques she’d taught before—kissing, nuzzling, rubbing. Yan Xi’s limbs went weak. She forgot everything around her and sank into it.

Fortunately, Anzhi’s lung capacity wasn’t enough. After a while, she released her. The small figure buried her face in Yan Xi’s neck, her heart racing. Yan Xi, too, struggled to steady her breathing. Her body trembled, and her usually clear, cool voice had taken on a husky edge.

From their very first kiss, she had been stunned by the delicate, seductive kisses between them. And each time after, it only got better, more surprising.

It was a long while before Yan Xi came back to herself. She turned her head and met Anzhi’s gazing eyes and flushed face. Her own cheeks were probably the same.

Yan Xi collected herself, averted her gaze, then looked back after a second or two. “Where did you learn that?”

Anzhi blinked, her dimples shifting into a shy curve.

Yan Xi pressed her lips together, feeling the heat in her cheeks deepen. “Who taught you… to kiss… there? Where did you learn…”

Anzhi unconsciously bit her lip and confessed, “YouTube…”

    Yan Xi: “…”

Anzhi scratched at the hem of Yan Xi’s clothes. “I’m already twenty-one, I’ve been an adult for ages. I can even buy alcohol in America.”

For a moment, Yan Xi actually found herself at a loss for words.

The loss of control just now made her a bit embarrassed and annoyed. After several seconds, she said again, “I really need to go.”

Anzhi pouted, still holding onto her sleeve. She didn’t speak, just pleaded with her eyes.

Yan Xi couldn’t take a step. She could only say softly, “Be good.”

Anzhi just looked at her without speaking, imploring her with her eyes, acting spoiled.

    Yan Xi: “…”

Anzhi changed from tugging to gripping tightly. “I… I just want to be with you.”

Yan Xi’s heart softened. She stroked her head. “I know.”

“Can we go stay at the other home for a few days, just the two of us?” Perhaps after kissing Yan Xi, her courage had grown. And Anzhi had also realized that Yan Xi couldn’t resist her acting spoiled. She blinked her bright, sparkling eyes, trying to look as cute as possible.

Yan Xi actually considered it seriously and found the suggestion feasible. “Going to the other home… it’s not impossible…”

“Really?” Anzhi’s eyes sparkled, her dimples deep, a delight to behold.

Yan Xi pinched her cheek, her fingertip tracing her dimple. “Really.”

Anzhi happily scrambled up, planted a kiss on Yan Xi’s cheek, and looped her arms around her neck.

Yan Xi swallowed and leaned back a little.

    Anzhi pouted unhappily.

This time, Yan Xi hardened her heart and stood up. “I really have to go.” She smoothed her disheveled hair and turned around.

“Auntie.” Anzhi called out softly from behind.

Yan Xi stopped, turned her head, and said quietly, “I told you, you can’t call me Auntie anymore.”

Anzhi looked at her and smiled. “But I like calling you that. Don’t you like it?”

“…” Actually, it wasn’t that. Yan Xi was truly torn, hesitating, unable to give her a definite answer or firmly object.

“Then… can I call you Xiao Wu?” Anzhi blinked.

“…” Of course she could call her that, but if she changed how she addressed her in front of the family, it would inevitably seem strange, and then she’d have to explain. But how would she explain?

There was no good way. Why go through the trouble?

Yan Xi compromised. She sighed. “Forget it. Whatever you want. Call me anything.”

Anzhi beamed a sweet smile at her.

Yan Xi was completely helpless against her. She walked to the door, but when her hand touched the doorknob, she stopped again.

Because Auntie Xin and Xiao Yutong were still pacing back and forth in the third-floor hallway.

Were these two babies little demons? They’d been soothed for ages and still wouldn’t sleep. Yan Xi couldn’t help grumbling inwardly, then thought of how well-behaved Anzhi had been as a child.

Anzhi got up and walked over to her. “Sleep here with me.” Her breath was soft and fragrant, warm against Yan Xi’s ear, reminding her that this spot had been kissed intensely by Anzhi just now. Yan Xi felt her entire ear go numb.

She hesitated. Although she was very tempted, it was also too…

While she was lost in wild thoughts, Anzhi reassured her, “I’ll go out and check. Eldest Aunt and the others must be tired. I’m still jet-lagged anyway. You sleep here; they won’t know.”

She tugged Yan Xi back to her bed. Yan Xi, unable to resist, slowly shuffled to the bedside. Anzhi leaned over, kissed her once, and said, “Go to sleep now. Goodnight.”

In an instant, she no longer looked like the little rascal from before, but like a considerate, gentle adult. Yan Xi was a bit dazed.

Then she walked out. A second or two later, Yan Xi heard her say to Xiao Yutong, “Eldest Aunt, let me hold the baby. You go rest.”

“Shh, shh… Anzhi, no need, no need. You go sleep yourself…”

“It’s fine, I’ll do it… Eldest Aunt, I’m jet-lagged anyway, so I can help. Please go get some rest…”

    Then the sounds outside faded.

Anzhi must have been afraid of disturbing her, so she carried the baby elsewhere.

Yan Xi lay in the quilt that carried her scent, breathing deep and shallow, feeling her body and heart sink into a cloud.
