Blame the Villain – Chapter 229

Villainous Singer (1)

When Song Xuyi woke up again, she was on a bumpy interstellar ship with a tiny window beside her. Various planets flew past her view. Song Xuyi was confined in a tiny cabin that was extremely small, only about three to four square meters: a very narrow single bed faced a waste disposal unit, and there wasn’t even enough space to turn over in the cabin. Although the oxygen valve beside her showed it was working, Song Xuyi still felt suffocated.

For a moment, she felt confused, not understanding why she was here. This time, the System’s voice came extremely quickly – almost as soon as Song Xuyi woke up, the System’s seemingly delighted voice rang in her mind…

“Xuyi, I have good news for you. I received a message from the Main System – you’ll be able to return to your own world soon.”

Song Xuyi was stunned for a moment, not expecting such sudden news. Thinking back on her years of traversing through small worlds, it felt like a lifetime ago. From her initial anxiety and unease to eventually enjoying life in these worlds, it seemed to pass in an instant, yet upon careful reflection, she realized many years had actually passed.

Upon suddenly hearing the news of leaving, Song Xuyi discovered an unexpected feeling of reluctance in her heart.

But Song Xuyi quickly calmed down.

“Will I recover my memories then?”

“Or when approximately can I return to the real world?”

Song Xuyi spoke softly, knowing that although her past self might have been weak and fragile, she had a feeling there must be a reason why she became a Task Executor.

After receiving vague “not sure” responses to both questions from the System, Song Xuyi’s mood returned to its undisturbed state—

Since the System knew nothing, she might as well continue completing her task; what’s meant to come would eventually arrive.

Song Xuyi lay back down in the cabin.

The cabin’s ceiling was only about two meters high, but after lying down, the suffocating feeling improved significantly.

There was a small mirror beside her, reflecting a young face. This body appeared very young, around seven or eight years old, and despite the young age, a pair of large optical glasses sat on the bridge of the nose.

Song Xuyi took off the glasses, and the world immediately became blurry.

Could myopia still exist in this seemingly technologically advanced era?

Song Xuyi recalled a previous interstellar era she had visited, where although humans were divided into the peculiar “ABO” forms, they had made such advanced developments in vision correction and cosmetic enhancement that myopia was no longer possible.

Song Xuyi put the glasses back on.

The original body’s luggage was pitifully sparse, just one shabby-looking suitcase. Song Xuyi opened it to find a very neatly written letter on top—

“Xuyi, I am currently overwhelmed with matters and cannot come to see you off. I can only send this letter to express my thoughts…”

The letter rambled on for several pages, but rather than being a farewell letter, it contained little warmth. Instead, it mostly consisted of instructions for the original body to study hard, even describing some learning methods that Song Xuyi found rather extreme, urging the original body to master technical skills at all costs.

The letter was signed — Father: Song Yi.

Besides two sets of simple clothes, the remaining contents of the suitcase consisted of various books that Song Xuyi found rather abstruse.

This father…

Song Xuyi frowned, sensing something deeply incongruous. While the spaceship the original body was traveling on appeared to be a product of highly advanced civilization, the social attitudes revealed in this letter seemed remarkably primitive…

Song Xuyi frowned and closed her eyes to receive the plot summary transmitted by the System.

She quickly understood the reason for this strange disparity—

This was indeed a highly developed civilization, but only for certain planets.

Some planets had experienced extremely rapid technological development, even entering the post-mechanical era [advanced stage of civilization where traditional mechanics are superseded by more advanced technologies], possessing powerful planetary capabilities. These powerful planets established Universal Law to maintain normal cosmic development and restrict stronger planets from invading weaker ones.

Originally, these advanced civilization planets maintained a balance of power, all following the Universal Law and not interfering with less developed planets’ progress. That was until one day, when these major planets discovered a crystal mineral named Xi Jing on a backward small planet called Ruoshui Star.

Compared to the advanced civilizations, Ruoshui Star was shockingly backward, still in an era of simple mechanics where men farmed and women weaved. The entire planet had only one nation. Though this nation, called Ruoshui Kingdom, was extremely underdeveloped, it had an enormous population, several times that of the self-proclaimed advanced civilizations.

Researchers discovered that Xi Jing was miraculous – a tiny crystal could power a spaceship for a month, and Ruoshui Star’s surface was almost entirely underlaid with Xi Jing mines!

After discovering Xi Jing, the powerful advanced civilization planets couldn’t remain idle. They sent teams to Ruoshui Star, with Bi Lin Star, the closest to Ruoshui, being the most aggressive.

Bi Lin Star possessed advanced civilization, especially in robotics. Their society was almost fully automated, with robots pervading all industries. Consequently, their energy demands were intense, and after discovering Xi Jing, Bi Lin Star was the first to attack Ruoshui Star.

Faced with absolute technological superiority, Ruoshui Star was like a child guarding treasure against robbers, completely defenseless against the invasion of other civilizations.

Fortunately, perhaps due to cosmic fate, Xi Jing possessed strong radioactive properties. Except for Ruoshui Star’s original inhabitants, residents of other planets encountered strange radiation when mining Xi Jing, resulting in illness or death. Moreover, their various machines would mysteriously malfunction on Ruoshui Star and couldn’t operate at all.

Therefore, the advanced civilization planets didn’t completely exterminate Ruoshui Star’s natives. They killed the original emperor of Ruoshui Star, dispersed Ruoshui Kingdom, and divided Ruoshui Star into multiple territories according to different planetary factions, each occupying their own region and forcing Ruoshui Star’s people to mine for them.

Although Ruoshui Star’s people weren’t afraid of Xi Jing’s radiation, perhaps due to spending days mining Xi Jing underground with little sunlight exposure, most newborns on Ruoshui Star developed vision problems.

Now, ten years had passed since Ruoshui Star’s invasion by advanced civilizations.

The male protagonist Lin Qingsong is from Ruoshui Star, while the female protagonist Gu Ci is from Bi Lin Star and the daughter of a high-ranking official.

After the invasion, Ruoshui Star’s people naturally refused to accept humiliation and formed numerous underground resistance organizations. Although their resistance was no match against the advanced civilizations, and blood stained Ruoshui Star’s ground, the residents never gave up their determination to drive out the invaders. Lin Qingsong was one of these resisters.

Strangely enough, perhaps due to the proximity of Ruoshui Star and Bi Lin Star, their peoples looked similar. However, Bi Lin Star’s people, due to long-term dependence on advanced technology, had developed atrophied limbs, mostly appearing swollen and ugly, with extremely large pupils and low fertility rates. In contrast, Ruoshui Star’s people had proportionate, slender limbs, and compared to Bi Lin Star’s people, they were all considered naturally beautiful.

Because of this, when Bi Lin Star’s residents discovered this and conducted genetic matching with Ruoshui Star’s residents, finding a 40% compatibility rate, they began abducting attractive Ruoshui Star men and women…

With technological assistance, they actually managed to produce some children!

Gu Ci was one such child.

Compared to her ugly Bi Lin Star father, she resembled her beautiful mother who spent years in depression, face constantly washed with tears. Due to a spaceship accident, Gu Ci was stranded on Ruoshui Star where she met Lin Qingsong. He initially thought she was from Ruoshui Star and took special care of her, living together on Ruoshui Star as they gradually developed feelings for each other. After seeing the tragic state of her mother’s people, Gu Ci’s sympathies shifted toward Ruoshui Star’s people, and she began advocating for their rights…

Gu Ci and Lin Qingsong shared a natural enmity, experiencing a difficult journey from attraction to hostility, from hostility to reconciliation, and then to jointly striving for Ruoshui Star’s future, finally strengthening their resolve to become life partners.

Originally, marriage between two people of such vastly different social status would have been impossible. For unknown reasons – perhaps moved by their love, or perhaps completely giving up on his disobedient daughter – Gu Ci’s high-ranking father agreed to let her marry Lin Qingsong, and set their wedding at the Keeper’s Mansion on Ruoshui Star.

The Keepers were Ruoshui Star natives who had surrendered to the advanced planets, becoming regional leaders under their support and supervising Xi Jing mining operations.

The couple was about to marry, seemingly heading toward the perfect ending set by the Main God, but since Song Xuyi arrived here, things naturally changed. On their wedding day, a tremendous roar descended from the sky, and a massive energy bomb was dropped, instantly leveling the entire Keeper’s Mansion, with everyone perishing in the sea of flames…

The plot summary didn’t specify who was responsible.

Now the Main God has reversed time, and Song Xuyi arrived fifteen years before the incident – when the protagonists were still children, about the same age as Song Xuyi’s current body.

After accepting the world overview, Song Xuyi also received the world memories-

This body was an orphan whose parents died in the world’s turmoil, but perhaps due to the Main God’s principle of favoring high positions for easier task completion, this body’s future status was not low.

After the original body’s parents died, she was adopted by Song Yi, who had no wife or children, making her his only heir. Although Song Yi was currently so poor he needed three to five years to save up for a spaceship ticket to Bi Lin Star, the future Song Yi would achieve great success, becoming the largest Keeper on Bi Lin Star and enjoying great wealth and prosperity. Later in the story, the protagonists’ wedding would take place in Song Yi’s mansion.

The original body would become a highly talented robot developer in the future, even developing new machinery that could overcome radiation and liberate Ruoshui Star’s people from mining.

After receiving the body’s memories, Song Xuyi opened her eyes and looked again at the letter Song Yi wrote to the original body. Reviewing the original body’s memories, she pressed her lips together with complex emotions:

Would Song Yi, who earnestly taught the original body before departure to ‘always remember you are a Ruoshui Star person’ and who sacrificed everything to send the original body to study new technology abroad, really become the largest Keeper just for wealth and status in the future?

Song Xuyi lowered her gaze thoughtfully.
