Top-Tier Omega: Chasing Alpha to the Crematorium – Chapter 48
by Little PandaThe Leaky Little Padded Jacket1
Ming Yu’s fingers unconsciously traced the rim of her teacup. The steam from the hot tea blurred her expression, but her taut jawline betrayed her emotions.
She was somewhat angry, but dared not easily lose her temper. The current Song Qingpei no longer cared whether she was angry or not.
When she spoke, her voice was deliberately soft, but the trailing note carried a trace of cold, oppressive force: “Qingpei, Wu Lan is not as harmless as you think. Otherwise, why would she use Ming Rui to pressure me, to make you approach Murong Ruixue?”
Song Qingpei faced Ming Yu and said calmly: “I understand your concern, but if she really wanted to do something to me, she wouldn’t do it in broad daylight, would she? Look at me at Blue Sea—I interact with so many people. You can’t tell me whether I can or cannot interact with each one. I’m an adult, not Songsong. I have my own judgment.”
“But I’m just worried about you…” Ming Yu’s words trailed off.
Of course it wasn’t just worry—it was that she didn’t like Song Qingpei trusting others more than herself.
“Worry… you want to control everything in your own hands to feel safe, don’t you.” Song Qingpei didn’t realize that this statement was almost a rebuttal of Ming Yu’s “need for control.”
Ming Yu suddenly stood up. The muffled thud of her military boots on the floor broke the silence. She walked to the window with her back to Song Qingpei. In the glass reflection, her rigid back was visible, but in the end, she said nothing.
“Ming Yu, if something is wrong, I’ll tell you.” Song Qingpei carried Songsong to Ming Yu’s side. “Just like Songsong—whether she’s happy or unhappy at kindergarten, she shares it with you.”
Ming Yu looked at her. Because Song Qingpei’s voice had softened considerably, she wasn’t as forceful as before.
“Song Qingpei, I don’t fear open fire on the battlefield.”
The implication was that she feared Song Qingpei falling into traps through “blind trust.” Deeper still, perhaps she feared becoming the one pushed away.
“Rest assured, Ming Yu.” Song Qingpei said, “I know my limits, and I understand your worry. But we are two individuals, so I hope you can…”
“Mama, Mommy, I’m sleepy.” Songsong couldn’t understand what Mommy and Mama were saying. After listening for a while, she yawned out of boredom, so Song Qingpei could only go put Songsong to sleep first.
After Songsong fell asleep, when Ming Yu came to Song Qingpei’s room, Song Qingpei had just finished her shower and was drying her hair.
Seeing that Ming Yu’s hair wasn’t dry yet, she subconsciously asked, “Do you want to dry your hair?”
It was originally just a habitual courtesy, but unexpectedly Ming Yu took it seriously. She actually sat down in front of her, looking like she expected help. Song Qingpei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Watching Song Qingpei carefully dry her hair, Ming Yu couldn’t help but calm her breathing. Even when Song Qingpei’s fingers occasionally brushed past her ear while drying, it made her restless with desire2.
However, perhaps because she had been constantly soothed by Song Qingpei recently, her pheromones had stabilized. She didn’t need to worry every moment.
And today, although she wasn’t in her heat period, her pheromones were inherently unstable, so it was time to be soothed again.
Infused with Alpha pheromones, Ming Yu involuntarily closed her eyes. From the corners of her eyes to her ear roots, she began to flush. Her neck arched high, her red lips tightly bitten, then she began trembling, curling up on the bed.
Even separated by a small distance, Song Qingpei could feel the scorching heat emanating from Ming Yu’s body.
Song Qingpei subconsciously stepped back, but her pheromones were still uncontrollably drawn out.
Sensing Song Qingpei’s distance, Ming Yu bit her red lips tightly. Suddenly turning, she reached out and pulled Song Qingpei over.
“Don’t avoid me.” Ming Yu deliberately raised her eyebrows, her hand reaching toward Song Qingpei’s waist and abdomen, slipping inside.
“Don’t make trouble.” Song Qingpei sensed Ming Yu being mischievous and wanted to dodge again.
But Ming Yu, though an Omega, her Admiral’s skills were genuine. With a lift of her long legs, she pinned Song Qingpei beneath her.
“What’s the point of doing this every time, just scratching an itch through a boot3?”
Ming Yu’s hand slid slowly down from Song Qingpei’s neck. Her burning fingertips were like striking a spark.
Especially the weight and heat at her waist and abdomen, transmitted through her pajamas—Song Qingpei’s whole body softened, something that rarely happened, and her pheromones uncontrollably spilled out.
But she still said stubbornly: “Ming Yu, you…”
“Haha~ Still so stubborn even in your susceptible period…”
Ming Yu spoke, completely letting go of all restraint, taking the initiative to kiss her.
The rose scent filled her nose. Song Qingpei’s pheromones were also drawn out, suddenly surging and enveloping the Omega’s pheromones.
After a long while, their lips parted. Ming Yu’s eyes were slightly red: “Qingpei, remember this—I won’t allow you to enter a susceptible period because of some other Omega. Otherwise… I won’t forgive you!”
Saying this, she kissed her again.
Clearly knowing this wasn’t the right time, but facing Ming Yu’s initiative, Song Qingpei still couldn’t help but lose control somewhat. Pheromones permeated the bedroom, intertwining with gasps…
“Wuwuwu, Mama, Mommy~ You left Songsong to sleep alone again, wuwuwu, Songsong is so scared~”
Songsong’s crying sounded outside the door. At this final moment, it completely startled them both.
The pheromones instantly receded. Ming Yu was fine, but Song Qingpei’s susceptible period was completely triggered.
She looked up, wrapped her arms around Ming Yu’s neck, pulled the person down, and bit the corner of her lip hard before pushing her away toward the bathroom.
“Mama, Mommy~” Songsong was still calling out.
Ming Yu quickly straightened her clothes and went to open the door.
Songsong stood at the doorway holding her stuffed toy. If you looked carefully, there wasn’t a single tear.
“Mommy, where’s Mama?”
“Mama is sick. Tonight, Mommy will stay with you, okay?” Ming Yu picked up Songsong.
Songsong’s eyes kept glancing inside: “Mama is sick, Songsong wants to see Mama.”
“No, she’s sick. If Songsong catches it, Mommy will have to take care of two people.”
“Then… then okay.” Songsong hugged Ming Yu’s neck.
After coaxing Songsong to sleep, Ming Yu couldn’t sleep at all.
Without Song Qingpei for the night, she… was no longer used to it.
The next morning, Ming Yu was awakened by her light-terminal vibrating.
She abruptly opened her eyes, pressed mute, and saw the message projected from Lieutenant Lin: “Admiral Ming, there’s a problem with the military academy preparations. Lieutenant General Zhan arrived at Military Headquarters early this morning.”
Zhan Nansheng—what was she here for?
Ming Yu glanced at Song Qingpei sleeping beside her, rose quietly and carefully, then quickly walked out of the room.
In Ming Yu’s office at Military Headquarters, Zhan Nansheng was already sitting on the sofa, drinking a specialty beverage sent from Planet Sha.
The reflection on her glasses showed a holographic list. She looked very dissatisfied.
When Ming Yu pushed open the door and saw Zhan Nansheng so at ease, she remembered what she saw yesterday—who knew she could be connected to Wu Lan.
Her footsteps stopped in front of Zhan Nansheng. Her military boots made crisp sounds on the floor.
“Admiral Ming, you certainly arrived early.” Zhan Nansheng’s voice carried obvious mockery. “Seems you slept well last night? What, even a low-grade Alpha can make Admiral Ming linger?”
Ming Yu’s emotions were stable. She didn’t respond to her provocation, her gaze sweeping over the names on the list.
Several Omega names were specially marked, with mental strength ratings clearly showing “A-rank.”
There were also two whose age column showed “25 years old.”
“Lieutenant General Zhan, you came early in the morning just for this? What’s wrong with this list?” Ming Yu’s voice was calm, but her eyes already revealed a trace of coldness.
Zhan Nansheng’s fingertip traced in the air, enlarging these people’s names and data, her finger tapping heavily on the coffee table.
“Admiral Ming, my father entrusted such a major matter to you, and this is how you screen candidates?”
Zhan Nansheng sneered: “These Omegas—some have only A-rank mental strength, and some are too old. Admiral Ming, do you really think they’re suitable for the Advanced Military Academy?”
Ming Yu didn’t respond, sitting back in her office chair: “My standard for selecting talent is ability, not age. They’ve all performed excellently in their respective fields and are fully qualified for the Advanced Military Academy.”
Zhan Nansheng laughed coldly, suddenly standing up and walking to the desk, leaning forward with overwhelming pressure: “Ability? Admiral Ming, you’re deceiving yourself, aren’t you? These Omegas entering the Advanced Military Academy at 25—by the time they graduate, they’ll be nearly 30. Then they’ll just find an Alpha to marry? Admiral Ming is training officer wives for other Alphas!”
Ming Yu’s expression instantly darkened. “Lieutenant General Zhan, please watch your words. These candidates were all strictly screened. Their ability and potential are beyond doubt. Omegas can be disciplined too!”
Zhan Nansheng straightened up. “Admiral Ming, you speak so righteously. Disciplined? Hah! What about you yourself?”
“Admiral Ming… you, an SSS-rank Omega, still found a low-grade Alpha to mark you during your heat and had a child.”
“Has your daughter’s mental strength been tested? Did she inherit your excellence, or her mother’s inferior mental strength?”
“If even you can’t do it, how can you guarantee these Omegas can control themselves?”
Ming Yu’s pupils suddenly contracted, her chest heaving violently. She had to admit that being controlled by pheromones in a relationship was indeed a huge drawback for Omegas. But these problems could be solved—they shouldn’t be grounds to strip Omegas of their right to serve in the military.
Zhan Nansheng continued relentlessly: “I think Omegas should just stay home, get married and have children. No need to make trouble for themselves and drag others down…”
“Zhan Nansheng!”
Ming Yu suddenly stood up, her chair making a harsh screech: “Do you dare say these words to Director Wu? She’s such an excellent Omega—doesn’t she also contribute to the Empire? Should I call her over so we can discuss this together?”
Zhan Nansheng’s face instantly went pale, the backs of her ears showing a suspicious flush.
If Ming Yu hadn’t mentioned that Zhan Nansheng was an Omega, she would have thought Ming Yu knew something.
How could these people compare to Wu Lan? She was… an Enigma.

- The Chinese idiom 'xīn yuán yì mǎ' (心猿意马) literally means 'heart like a monkey, mind like a horse.' It describes a restless, distracted state of mind — in this context, it conveys sexual arousal and desire.
- The Chinese idiom 'gé xuē sāo yǎng' (隔靴搔痒) literally means 'scratching an itch through one's boot.' It describes an action that is ineffective or unsatisfying because it doesn't address the root of the problem — in this context, sexual frustration.
