Top-Tier Omega: Chasing Alpha to the Crematorium – Chapter 36
by Little PandaJiejie, I Want You!
Because her eyes had been forced open for so long, the light irritated them, causing tears to slip down her face from time to time. She couldn’t seem to stop them, making her look utterly miserable.
Mengmeng sat on the edge of the bed. She gently cupped Song Qingpei’s face in both hands, her eyes brimming with heartache.
Her fingertips lightly brushed the corners of Song Qingpei’s eyes, and her voice was as soft as a breeze. “Jiejie, do your eyes still hurt? Do you want me to blow on them for you?”
Song Qingpei managed a weak smile and shook her head. “I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s just that the Tear Sea Anemone1 was too irritating. It will take a few days to fully heal.”
Hearing that it would still take a few days to heal, Mengmeng’s brow furrowed even tighter. Her own eyes began to redden, as if Song Qingpei’s pain had been transmitted directly into her heart, and her tears started falling in sympathy.
“Jiejie, why are you still crying?”
Mengmeng’s voice carried a hint of a choke. She wiped at her own tears with the back of her hand, but the more she wiped, the more they fell. “Jiejie, please don’t cry. When you cry, it makes me want to cry too…”
Looking at Mengmeng’s pitiful expression, Song Qingpei felt both moved and helpless.
She reached out and gently patted the back of Mengmeng’s hand, her tone soothing. “Alright, alright, I won’t cry anymore, and you stop crying too. If we keep crying, we’re both going to melt into puddles of tears.”
Mengmeng sniffled, managing to stem the flow of her tears, though her eyes remained rimmed in red.
She leaned against Song Qingpei’s shoulder like a clinging little kitten and whispered, “Jiejie, don’t ever touch that anemone thing again, okay? Seeing you in pain makes my heart hurt so much.”
“Okay.” Song Qingpei nodded emphatically.
Even if Mengmeng hadn’t said anything, she wouldn’t touch those bizarre things again. This time, she had truly learned her lesson. She would absolutely never let her hands wander again in this lifetime.
The two of them sat quietly for a while until Mengmeng’s emotions gradually settled.
Song Qingpei’s thoughts, however, began to drift. She remembered Ming Rui’s words, and a faint sense of unease gnawed at her heart.
Mengmeng’s personality was like that of a child—innocent and clingy, entirely devoid of Ming Yu’s usual coldness and dominance.
Was all of this really just because of amnesia? Or did it truly have something to do with that Doctor Gong?
After a moment’s hesitation, Song Qingpei decided to test the waters with Mengmeng.
She gently patted Mengmeng’s shoulder and asked softly, “Mengmeng, do you still remember Doctor Gong?”
Mengmeng’s body instantly went rigid. Her previously relaxed expression morphed into sheer terror, and her breathing grew rapid and shallow, as if she had just heard the most horrifying name imaginable.
Suddenly, her fingers clamped onto Song Qingpei’s sleeve. Her voice trembled violently. “Doctor Gong… she’s a bad person! Jiejie, save me… I’m so scared…”
Song Qingpei was startled by the extreme reaction. She hurriedly pulled Mengmeng into her arms to comfort her. “It’s okay, Mengmeng, it’s okay. I’m here. No one can hurt you.”
Mengmeng’s body continued to shake, and her voice broke with sobs. “Jiejie, I don’t want to think about her… she’s a bad person… she did so many terrible things to me… I’m so scared…”
Song Qingpei’s heart sank heavily. Mengmeng’s reaction made her even more certain—there was absolutely something wrong with Doctor Gong.
She gently patted Mengmeng’s back, murmuring softly, “Alright, Mengmeng, let’s not think about it. We won’t think about those things anymore, okay?”
Mengmeng nodded and hugged Song Qingpei tightly, as if this was the only way she could feel safe.
A wave of sorrow washed over Song Qingpei. She didn’t dare probe any further, terrified of causing Mengmeng to lose control of her emotions again.
After a while, Mengmeng finally calmed down.
She raised her head, tear tracks still staining her face, but the intense fear had faded.
Looking at Song Qingpei, she spoke in a soft, sweet voice, “Jiejie, I’m sleepy. Let’s go to sleep.”
Song Qingpei nodded. “Alright, let’s sleep.”
Mengmeng stood up and began taking off her clothes.
She picked at the buttons fastened all the way up to her collar with some disdain, complaining pitifully to Song Qingpei, “Jiejie, this is so hard to undo.”
Watching her struggle, Song Qingpei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She had no choice but to reach out and help unfasten the top button.
As her fingertips brushed the cool metal of the button, her mind went blank for a second. The image of Ming Yu commanding her to soothe her with a cold face suddenly flashed through her head. It seemed… this was her first time unbuttoning Ming Yu’s military uniform.
While Song Qingpei was distracted, the complex military uniform was peeled away piece by piece under Mengmeng’s hands. Her movements were natural and innocent, completely devoid of shyness. Soon, she was entirely naked.
Looking at her completely defenseless appearance, Song Qingpei could only smile helplessly.
Mengmeng slipped under the covers, reached out to grab Song Qingpei’s hand, and coaxed sweetly, “Jiejie, you come in too.”
Resigned, Song Qingpei offered a faint smile, took off her jacket, and slid beneath the quilt.
Mengmeng immediately pressed up against her like a small cat, her arms wrapping tightly around Song Qingpei’s waist. She pressed her face to Song Qingpei’s chest and rubbed against her affectionately. The touch of their bare skin sent a familiar, thrilling flutter through Song Qingpei’s heart.
Mengmeng’s body carried the faint scent of her pheromones.
It was a scent she knew intimately, one that could instantly draw out the deepest softness in her heart.
Even her own normally apathetic pheromones seemed to stir restlessly, and the air grew thick with a sudden, ambiguous tension.
Mengmeng seemed to sense this change as well. Her breathing grew heavy. She looked up at Song Qingpei, a trace of innocent wantonness in her eyes. “Jiejie, let’s do something interesting.”
Song Qingpei froze for a moment before remembering. In the past, whenever she had marked Mengmeng, she had always called it doing ‘something interesting.’ Over time, it had become their private code—no, it was practically an explicit invitation.
But now…
Not only was there the issue with her eyes, but she also hadn’t figured out what exactly was going on between Ming Yu and Mengmeng. She absolutely could not let things spiral further out of control.
Song Qingpei gently pushed Mengmeng away and whispered, “Mengmeng, stop messing around. My eyes are still bothering me.”
But Mengmeng wouldn’t take no for an answer. She straddled Song Qingpei, planting her hands on either side of her shoulders. She looked down at her with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. “Jiejie, I can do it myself.”
Song Qingpei suddenly felt the comical sensation of having dropped a rock on her own foot. She was the one who had taught Mengmeng to say these things, step by step. At first, Mengmeng had been embarrassed, crying and accusing Song Qingpei of bullying her. But over time, as she began to enjoy it, she became increasingly proactive and cooperative. Song Qingpei just never expected that one day, this boomerang2 would swing around and hit her.
Provoked by Mengmeng’s teasing movements, her breathing grew rapid, and her body involuntarily responded to the Omega’s closeness.
Mengmeng lowered her head and gently captured her lips in a tender, lingering kiss.
Song Qingpei’s reason collapsed in an instant. Her arms wrapped around Mengmeng’s waist of their own accord, responding to the kiss. Their pheromones intertwined in the air, igniting like a sudden blaze threatening to swallow them both whole.
However, right at that crucial moment, Ming Yu’s consciousness abruptly seized control of the body.
Her gaze instantly turned frigid, and her movements came to a dead halt. She stared down at Song Qingpei, thoroughly furious. “Song Qingpei, did you forget your eyes aren’t healed yet?”
Song Qingpei froze. A second later, she realized what had happened—Ming Yu was back.
Her face flushed crimson in an instant, and she was so embarrassed she wished she could find a crack in the floor to crawl into.
She hurriedly sat up and muttered, “Sorry, I… I didn’t mean to.”
Ming Yu’s face was also tinged with red. She hadn’t expected Song Qingpei, who was usually so cold and utterly unmoved by all of Ming Yu’s seductions during her heat, to be so easily provoked by Mengmeng.
In that split second, the unfamiliar surge of emotion left her deeply ashamed and angry.
Glancing down and realizing she was straddling Song Qingpei in such an indecent position, her expression grew even darker.
Ming Yu swiftly scrambled off of Song Qingpei. Turning her back to her, she began throwing her clothes back on. The flush at the tips of her ears slowly crawled over to her cheeks. As if doing it on purpose, she buttoned her uniform all the way up to her collar before finally turning back around to face Song Qingpei.
Driven by an instinctual need for control, Ming Yu opened her mouth with a lofty, mocking sneer. “Aren’t you apathetic to pheromones? Looking at you now, you’re quite active.”
Fortunately, Song Qingpei was too mortified to know what to say and completely ignored the biting sarcasm in Ming Yu’s words. She merely adjusted her own clothes in silence and murmured, “I’m sorry.”
The atmosphere between them grew incredibly awkward. An indescribable silence weighed heavily in the air.
Ming Yu looked at Song Qingpei, her voice turning icy. “Why were you asking about Doctor Gong?”
Song Qingpei’s heart skipped a beat. She hadn’t expected Ming Yu to suddenly bring that up.
She hesitated for a moment before replying softly, “I was just… a little curious.”
“Curiosity killed the cat.” Ming Yu let out a cold laugh, her tone laced with a distinct warning. “There are some things it is best for you not to know.”
Song Qingpei felt a surge of annoyance. She had asked out of genuine concern, only for Ming Yu to respond with such cynical hostility.
She couldn’t help but shoot back, “Can’t you just speak nicely? Like Mengmeng. That’s so much better.”
“Be obedient like an idiot and call you jiejie?” Ming Yu looked at her with a faint, mocking smile. “How old am I, and how old are you? Song Qingpei, aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”
Song Qingpei choked on her words, unable to speak.
Back then, Mengmeng had been innocent and clingy. When she called her jiejie, her voice was so soft and sweet it could melt a person’s heart. Song Qingpei hadn’t been able to resist satisfying her own little kink, so she had just let her keep calling her jiejie. Who would have known that Ming Yu was actually two years older than her?
Seeing her fall silent, Ming Yu glanced at her red, swollen eyes, and only then did she realize her misunderstanding.
“Did you just say your eyes were watering because of the Tear Sea Anemone?”
“Yes.”
Thinking of how she had just spent all that time swallowing her pride to coax her, Ming Yu felt like an absolute fool. Song Qingpei had just been deliberately watching her make a joke of herself. Ming Yu was instantly furious. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“You didn’t ask,” Song Qingpei replied self-righteously.
“You—”
Ming Yu’s face flushed hot with anger, but she was completely inept at arguing. After holding it in for a long time, she only managed to force out a cold warning. “You stay at home and behave. Don’t act recklessly again, or else if something happens, I won’t bail you out.”
“I know. I won’t be going to work for the time being anyway. You don’t need to watch me like a prisoner.”
“I am doing this for your own good. Don’t even think about sneaking out to see Murong—”
Both of them were talking over each other. It was only halfway through her sentence that Ming Yu finally processed Song Qingpei’s words. She paused, stunned. “What did you say?”
“I said I can promise you I won’t go to work,” Song Qingpei repeated, “but you can’t restrict my freedom.”
Recovering from her shock, Ming Yu looked at her skeptically. “You aren’t trying to find an opportunity to slip away, are you?”
“Am I that kind of person?” Song Qingpei was highly dissatisfied with her suspicion.
“You tell me,” Ming Yu sneered. “How exactly was Song Song abducted by you back then?”
At the mention of Song Song, Song Qingpei remembered the bastardly things Ming Yu had done back then. Her previously softened mood flared into anger, and she shot back, “If you hadn’t aggressively forced me to give up Song Song, would I have been pushed to that point? Ming Yu, don’t you understand the principle that things must rebound when pushed to the extreme3? If you keep using these high-pressure tactics to order me around, what do you think I’ll eventually do—”
“You… can go out, but someone must follow you.”
Before Song Qingpei could finish her threat, a flash of imperceptible panic crossed Ming Yu’s eyes. She hurriedly cut Song Qingpei off and chose to back down.
“Fine,” Song Qingpei compromised.
At least now Ming Yu could speak like a reasonable person, could make concessions, and could actually communicate. That was progress.
Seeing her agree, Ming Yu breathed a sigh of relief. She glanced at Song Qingpei’s red, swollen eyes once more and involuntarily softened her voice. “Rest early. I’ll have the doctor come take a look tomorrow.”
“Mm.”
Ming Yu got up and left. Song Qingpei watched her retreating figure, a tangle of complicated emotions knotting in her chest.
After a moment’s hesitation, she picked up her light-terminal and dialed Ming Rui’s number.
“Ming Rui, I’ve discovered a few things,” Song Qingpei said in a low voice. “‘Mengmeng’ seems to be terrified of Doctor Gong. She’s incredibly afraid, and the mere mention of her triggers a trauma response. What’s even stranger is that Ming Yu has absolute control over herself when she’s in the ‘Mengmeng’ state. She can switch to Mengmeng at any time, and she can snap back to being fully awake at any time. Just now…”
Thinking about how she and ‘Mengmeng’ had nearly been like dry wood and raging fire4 just moments ago, only for Ming Yu to suddenly snap awake and interrupt them, Song Qingpei couldn’t help but flush with embarrassment. She paused, let out a long breath, and then recounted everything else she had discovered to Ming Rui.
After listening, Ming Rui stayed silent for a moment before speaking softly. “I understand. It seems my guess was right. Next, I need to verify it.”
Song Qingpei didn’t understand. “What are you going to do?”
Ming Rui didn’t explain directly. Instead, she just murmured, “Miss Song, no matter what happens, you must remember that Cousin really cares about you. Whether it’s Mengmeng or Ming Yu, please don’t give up on her.”
Hearing her say this, Song Qingpei’s heart seized. She felt there was something very off about Ming Rui’s tone.
She wanted to ask more questions, but Ming Rui had already hung up the phone.
