Encounter
After she finished speaking, several people hesitated, looking at her and then looking at the Director.
The Director himself seemed uncertain. In his decade-plus career in law enforcement, he had rarely encountered a woman who could face fully armed police with composure. What’s more, the backup hadn’t arrived yet, putting them at a disadvantage in terms of momentum.
He licked his lips, his gaze wandering, as if calculating how to wrap things up.
In the end, it was Song Yuhang who was more resolute. She whispered, “Given the situation, it’s better to err on the side of caution. If we manage to find something, it’ll be a major accomplishment.”
The Director thought to himself that since it was Song Yuhang’s idea, if any blame came down from above, it could just be pushed onto her. After all, she was only sent here to gain grassroots experience.
So, he holstered his gun and waved his hand.
“Search.”
The staff of Huange Nightclub lined up for inspection, while Lin Yan lounged on a sofa, smoking, next to the trembling Boss Qian.
He was fat and kept wiping the cold sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, looking every bit the guilty thief, his shivering making the whole sofa quiver.
Lin Yan rolled her eyes, her fingers pinching a cigarette, and gave a twist to the excess flesh on Boss Qian’s thigh.
Boss Qian almost didn’t let out a howl.
Lin Yan’s lips moved slightly, whispering in a voice only the two of them could hear: “Just follow my lead later, and I’ll ensure you’re safe.”
Trembling, Boss Qian, with the two beauties he had been holding, shrank into the corner of the sofa, looking utterly terrified.
“But… but…”
His gaze kept darting to the table. It was incredibly unlucky how right after Liu Zhi had taken out the goods, the police had arrived. Now, they really were caught red-handed, damn it.
Lin Yan saw his evasive and timid gaze and silently cursed him for being so useless. She forcefully twisted his thigh, making Boss Qian look at her.
That icy and sharp gaze contained a hint of killing intent, while the corner of her tightly pursed lips revealed a sense of determination, as if saying, “Listen to me, and you’ll live. Disobey me, and you’ll die.”
Boss Qian trembled all over and was about to say something when Lin Yan was seized by a police officer.
“What are you doing? What are you doing? I’m talking to you. Stand still. Let’s search her!”
As she watched the officer’s hand reach towards her shoulder, Lin Yan discreetly took a step back, her gaze soft and boneless, sticking to the man’s body.
“What’s this? Harassment? Is this how you police operate? I want that female officer to search me.”
Her voice was neither loud nor low, as she clutched her shawl, putting on a face full of grievance like she was being bullied. Song Yuhang’s colleague had no choice but to retreat with a defeated look.
“Sister Song, it’s your turn.”
“…”
Song Yuhang looked at the face before her, remarkably similar to Lin Yan’s, momentarily lost in a daze. Moreover, with her dressed in a cheongsam and draped in a shawl, standing there, she was like a blooming flower attracting attention.

Lin Yan… also likes to dress this way.
Song Yuhang’s eyes warmed, her lips moved: “You…”
Lin Yan then took another cigarette from the box on the table, lit it up, and took a few puffs, the flame dancing.
She lightly blew smoke rings towards her face.
“I’m saying, officer, are you going to search or not? We still need to open for business. Can you afford to compensate for our business loss for the whole night?”
She said this with a look of disdain and rolled her eyes.
Song Yuhang noticed that the cigarette she was smoking was no longer the slender Marlboro, but the more rugged Furong Wang.
For some reason, this detail made her heart ache sharply, and her expression turned cold.
“Stand properly, I’m going to search you.”
Lin Yan has always been casual in her posture, whether standing or sitting. As the head of drug traffickers, Pei Jinhong was even less likely to show any courtesy to the cops. So, as she searched her, Lin Yan continued to leisurely smoke, occasionally blowing smoke rings into the air.
The person standing before her had once given her all the tenderness and love. They hugged, kissed, and possessed each other.
The moment she touched her, Lin Yan’s scalp tingled instantly. However, she just took another harsh drag of her cigarette, letting the smoke pass into her lungs and gently blew it onto her face, allowing the spreading smoke to redden both of their eyes.
Song Yuhang ignored such petty tricks. She conducted a thorough search, her fingers running through Lin Yan’s thick black hair, finding nothing, then dropping down to squeeze the shoulders and sliding further down.
Lin Yan took the opportunity to tilt her head back, exposing her long neck to Song Yuhang’s view.
Song Yuhang’s throat moved slightly as she averted her gaze.
“Take it off.”
Lin Yan glanced at her sideways, “Take off what?”
“Your shawl.” She pronounced each word distinctly, finding it hard to speak.
Lin Yan met her gaze, staring indently until Song Yuhang turned her face away. The corners of her lips lifted in a mocking smile, yet she complied, removing her shawl and tossing it onto the sofa.
She was left wearing nothing lengthy, utterly bare, not even a piece of jewelry on her.
“Officer, do I need to take off more?” Lin Yan said, subtly arching her chest.
The two were extremely close, their light summer clothes brushing against her softness.
In that instant, the shock was nearly enough to send shivers down Song Yuhang’s spine. She seemed to stagger backward, clenching her lips tightly, her voice cold to the extreme.
“No need.”
Just then, a police officer from upstairs came running down with a syringe in hand: “Chief, Sister Song, we found this.”

Liu Zhi’s pupils shrank: “Sister Hong…”
Lin Yan gave a reassuring look.
Pei Jinhong had long stipulated that all nightclub staff were not allowed to use drugs within the club, so there wouldn’t be any drug residues left here. The syringe thrown in the trash can was intentional, aimed at completely dispelling the police’s suspicions.
After all, a place too clean could also raise doubts, right?
The moment that syringe appeared, the atmosphere tensed up quietly once again.
Boss Qian kept swallowing his saliva, curled up on the sofa without saying a word.
Song Yuhang held the syringe, surveying everyone in the room.
“Which room was this found in?”
A colleague answered, “The trash can in the room at the very back.”
Song Yuhang raised the syringe: “Whose is it? Step forward yourself.”
Lin Yan covered her mouth and let out a small yawn.
“Mine, what of it?”
“What’s it used for?”
She revealed the injured part of her arm to show her.
“I got hurt, it’s inflamed. Can’t I call a family doctor to get an injection or something?”
Song Yuhang looked at her skeptically.
Without changing her expression, Lin Yan said, “Why don’t I unwrap the gauze so you can see for yourself? Or, you could smell what’s inside.”
As she was about to unravel the gauze wrapped around her arm, Song Yuhang lifted the syringe to her nose, and indeed, it smelled of anti-inflammatory medication.
The other police officers, having searched the rest of the club, came back to report.
“Chief, we’ve searched everywhere, and found nothing suspicious.”
Hearing this, Boss Qian felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders, as if a massive boulder had been removed. He cast an approving glance at Lin Yan, leaning back on the sofa and gasping for breath.
His series of small actions finally caught the attention of the chief.
“You, get up, let’s see if there’s anything under the sofa.”
The group proceeded to overturn the sofa cushions, check behind the sofa, and even flip the carpet upside down, but still, they found nothing.
Lin Yan watched this with amusement, rolling her eyes in response.

“I’m asking everyone, have you finished searching? If you have, then get out quickly. We’re not like you all, with secure jobs; we still need to open our doors for business.”
The director slowly let go of the carpet he had been lifting, looking towards the door where still, no one had come. Uncertainty flickered in his eyes. Finally, he took out his mobile phone from his pocket, intending to make a call to ask around.
Then, Song Yuhang spoke up, pointing towards a glass on the table.
“What’s this?”
Inside the glass, a light blue liquid was shimmering, its light dancing within, making it appear all the more mysterious.
Boss Qian’s face turned deathly pale.
Lin Yan’s expression, on the other hand, became subtly intriguing.
“Just some foreign liquor, what’s the matter?”
She spoke with tranquility, but one of Liu Zhi’s men gently nudged his arm and whispered, “Brother Zhi, that’s not just…”
Liu Zhi turned his head, signaling him with a look to keep quiet.
