    Exposed

Although Zhou Zhilong didn’t know why Mu Ning thought his words were made up—after all, when a man threw his pride to the wind to make such a confession, his credibility should have been quite high!

Of course, he had indeed made it up. But at the moment, he couldn’t afford to explain any further to Mu Ning. Since she had said that leaving the room would make her a laughingstock to the outside world, then he…

“I need to use the bathroom right now…”

“…” Although Mu Ning’s face was completely written over with a clear expression of “you have so much fucking shit going on1,” in the end, she still nodded and allowed Zhou Zhilong to go to the bathroom.

The moment Mu Ning nodded, Zhou Zhilong bolted for the bathroom as if he couldn’t wait another second. Mu Ning highly suspected that given his desperate haste, he would’ve charged straight inside even if she hadn’t nodded. Speaking of which, when had this man become so obedient? Why did he need her permission just to use the bathroom?

No matter his reasons for heading to the bathroom, Mu Ning could only wait patiently. But after twenty minutes of waiting, her expression began to turn impatient.

“Did you fall into the toilet? What’s taking you so long? Do you need me to call someone to haul you out?”

The moment Mu Ning’s voice rang out, Zhou Zhilong’s panicked response came from inside the bathroom. “Wait! Just a little longer… I’m almost done…”

At first, Mu Ning didn’t think much of his plea to wait, merely finding him incredibly slow. But after another three minutes passed, she suddenly recalled something. Standing up abruptly, she strode straight to the bathroom and pounded heavily on the door twice.

“What on earth are you doing in there? If you don’t come out right now, I’m tearing this door down!”

Faced with Mu Ning’s threat, Zhou Zhilong eventually opened the bathroom door, looking thoroughly aggrieved.

“What were you doing in there? You didn’t even flush the toilet?”

“…” Zhou Zhilong gave Mu Ning a deeply resentful glare and retorted in annoyance, “Constipation. Nothing would come out, alright?!”

“…” Had he completely abandoned his image, or was he deliberately destroying it? Mu Ning didn’t want to continue this pointless conversation with Zhou Zhilong. Cutting straight to the chase, she asked, “Then what do you plan to do tonight?”

“What do you mean, ‘do’? What else do you want to do?!” Returning to this topic, Zhou Zhilong flared up like a lit fuse, growing irritable again. “I already told you I can’t do it! What else do you want from me? Are you really that… that…”

He couldn’t bring himself to say the remaining words.

Mu Ning stared speechlessly at his frantic, irritable state. Turning around, she sat back on the bed and sneered at him, “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m only asking where you’re sleeping tonight.”

Where to sleep? Sharing a bed with Mu Ning was absolutely out of the question. But leaving the room to sleep elsewhere would easily make them a prime target for gossip2. Since that was the case…

“I’ll sleep on the sofa,” Zhou Zhilong said, walking toward a small single sofa in the room.

“You’re sleeping on the sofa? Can you even fit on that?” Mu Ning raised an eyebrow at him.

“Why wouldn’t I? When I was on the road, didn’t I always just squeeze into a car seat for a nap… Tsk, what do you care if I can sleep or not?” Zhou Zhilong rolled his eyes at her, slumped onto the sofa, and ignored her.

“You’re getting more and more impolite to me now. Where did all your former attentiveness go?”

In response to Mu Ning’s remark, Zhou Zhilong leaned against the back of the sofa, pretending not to hear.

Mu Ning quietly watched Zhou Zhilong curled up on the sofa. After a while, she suddenly spoke again, “Let me guess what you’re doing right now. Could it be that your card’s duration is about to run out, so you’re using your ability to synthesize more of whatever cards those are? Oh, right! You started doing exactly that when you were in the bathroom, didn’t you?”

!!! Because of those words, Zhou Zhilong, who’d been playing dead on the sofa, suddenly bolted upright and stared at her in astonishment. But meeting Mu Ning’s eyes, which seemed to see through everything, he guiltily looked away, leaned back against the sofa again, and muttered defensively, “What nonsense are you talking about? I don’t understand a thing.”

“Don’t understand? Ren Chenxi, even at a time like this, you’re still going to lie to me? Are you addicted to deceiving people? Before, you disguised yourself as Ren Muhui to play with my feelings, and now you’re pretending to be Zhou Zhilong. What else do you want to swindle out of me?!”

Mu Ning’s tone was incredibly calm as she said this, but the anger on her face couldn’t be concealed.

“Zhou Zhilong” huddled nervously on the sofa, keeping quiet for a long time before weakly squeezing out, “I-I really don’t know what you’re talking about. I know Ren Chenxi—she-she’s a girl. And… just in terms of appearance, she and I are worlds apart, right?”

Seeing “Zhou Zhilong” still playing the ostrich and making useless excuses, Mu Ning suddenly stood up and marched straight over. With a forceful push of her hands, she pinned “Zhou Zhilong”—who was trying to stand up and flee—straight back into the sofa.

“Ren Chenxi, I don’t know what card you used to disguise yourself as Zhou Zhilong this time, but I bet this card can only change your face into his. As for the rest of your body, it should still be yours, right? Otherwise, why did the ‘Zhou Zhilong’ who used to wear crew necks and V-necks suddenly start wearing high-collared shirts all the time? Could it be… to hide the fact that you don’t have an Adam’s apple?”

As she spoke, before “Zhou Zhilong” could even react, she fiercely yanked open “Zhou Zhilong’s” tightly buttoned collar.

Snap! With a few crisp snaps, several buttons bounced onto the floor. At the same time, the beautiful collar pin on the collar was also sent flying by Mu Ning’s casual yank.

At the open collar of the shirt, a stretch of fair skin—starkly contrasting with the complexion of the face—was revealed. On this slender, beautiful neck, there was no prominent Adam’s apple to represent a male.

“Speak! ‘Zhou Zhilong’, where’s your Adam’s apple? Don’t tell me you lost it just because you’re impotent!”

Mu Ning let go of one side of “Zhou Zhilong’s” collar and reached her hand toward “his” exposed neck, gently caressing it. Then, her eyes darkened, and her other hand ripped downward with force, completely tearing the buttoned shirt wide open.

Beneath the shirt was an undershirt. At first glance, it looked flat with no curves. But Mu Ning wouldn’t be fooled by superficial appearances. To verify she was correct, her other hand cleanly and quickly grabbed the hem of the undershirt and quickly yanked it upward. As she did, she muttered in disgust, “Tsk! Wearing that guy Zhou Zhilong’s clothes—don’t you find it disgusting?!”

As another stretch of smooth, slender waist was exposed on “Zhou Zhilong”, who was pinned to the sofa, “Zhou Zhilong”—somewhat stunned by Mu Ning’s swift, precise, and ruthless sequence of attacks—finally reacted. “He” first firmly pressed down on Mu Ning’s left hand, which was planning to continue yanking the undershirt up, then looked up at Mu Ning and shook “his” head gently. “It’s not Zhou Zhilong’s clothes. I’m wearing an outfit generated by a Costume Card.”

This time, the voice that slipped out of “Zhou Zhilong’s” mouth was none other than the one Mu Ning was most, most, most familiar with—Ren Chenxi’s voice.

Suddenly hearing this voice she’d been thinking of day and night, Mu Ning was dazed for a moment. But she quickly realized that Ren Chenxi had just admitted it. It was like this again. It was always like this. Every single time, Ren Chenxi would only admit the truth after Mu Ning personally exposed her lies! Recalling the confrontation when she sought out Ren Chenxi before leaving Nanhai Base, Mu Ning’s eyes turned red. She sat directly on Ren Chenxi’s lap, while her hands uncontrollably closed around Ren Chenxi’s neck.

But no matter how great the anger in her heart was, the hands Mu Ning had wrapped around Ren Chenxi’s neck were still only squeezing loosely.

“Ren Chenxi, you’re not going to pretend anymore? I thought that along with your face, even your voice had changed! Toying with me over and over again like this, you must find it very amusing, don’t you?!”

Because Mu Ning was holding her neck, Ren Chenxi had to tilt her head back slightly to look up at Mu Ning sitting on her lap. Facing Mu Ning’s angry eyes once more, Ren Chenxi—still wearing Zhou Zhilong’s face—sighed helplessly.

“I can only use the Illusion Card to transform into Zhou Zhilong’s face. As for my voice, I used a voice changer—the collar pin on my collar, which you just sent flying.” That delicate, compact collar-pin voice changer was another item Ren Chenxi had bought from the Apocalypse Mall using crystal stones.

It would’ve been better if Ren Chenxi hadn’t explained. Her explanation only made Mu Ning’s anger flare even hotter.

“So, if I hadn’t knocked your voice changer away, you had no intention of admitting it?”

“Even if I didn’t admit it, didn’t you verify it yourself with your own hands?” Ren Chenxi gently pushed Mu Ning’s arms. When she couldn’t budge them, she could only settle for pulling down her undershirt, which Mu Ning had yanked up.

Seeing Ren Chenxi’s movement to cover herself, Mu Ning scoffed, “Why are you hiding? Speaking of which, didn’t I say before that I’d examine your body thoroughly from the inside out? Since opportunities like this are rare, why don’t I…”

Even as she spoke, Mu Ning seized the opportunity to slide her hands down from Ren Chenxi’s neck to her chest. “How about I give you a thoroughly complete examination right now?”

The chest beneath her palms seemed flat, but upon touch, it still possessed a hint of softness. It sent a tremor through Mu Ning’s heart, causing her to lean closer to Ren Chenxi. Yet, as she drew closer and met Zhou Zhilong’s face once more, the shock made her recoil backward. Fortunately, Ren Chenxi caught her waist in time, preventing her from falling off her.

Ren Chenxi’s rarely proactive intimate gesture made Mu Ning feel a tiny bit happy, but she was far more annoyed and disgusted by the face before her.

“Tsk! Can you change your face back?! Staring at Zhou Zhilong’s greasy, disgusting face, I have absolutely no interest in examining your body!”

“…” Since you put it that way, I’m even more afraid to change my face back, okay?!

Mu Ning: Tsk! What a buzzkill! Otherwise, I could have done this and that!!!
