    The Villainous Scientist (4)

Starting From Scratch: Little Marshal x Mad, Dark, Sickly Scientist

No matter what Huang Fu’s true motives were, at least they were safe for the time being.

Song Xuyi knew that the contents of this passcode book were likely an assessment of her by Huang Fu and his crew, as well as a chance to fight for her own survival. Under the current social climate, she had absolutely nowhere else to go except the Blue Star that Huang Fu had mentioned.

Upon returning to her cabin, Song Xuyi immediately opened the passcode book.

She had prepared herself for potential difficulties, but to her surprise, the contents of the book looked incredibly familiar.

The passcode book contained explanations of various knowledge points.

These concepts were somewhat similar to the solid geometry Song Xuyi had learned in high school in her previous world, but they also integrated principles of mechanics, such as stress and inertia. She could not quite make sense of them on her first reading. By the second reading, she gradually grasped the principles behind them. On the third reading, she began attempting to solve the exercises set at the end of each section…

On her fourth reading, Song Xuyi solved the exercises and clicked submit.

Song Xuyi had always possessed an intense focus when absorbed in a task. By the time she submitted her answers, she realized it was already late at night.

Jiang Qianyu had already settled inside her hibernation pod.

A hibernation pod was a device designed to shield its occupant from radiation.

Since they would traverse a wormhole during the latter half of their journey, and the radioactive matter inside was hazardous to humans, the ship would switch to autopilot during transit. Everyone on board would enter hibernation, remaining in stasis until they cleared the wormhole and the robots woke them.

At the moment, the pod’s door was left slightly ajar, and the faint sound of soothing music drifted out from within—like waves crashing against reefs, rolling in wave after wave.

Though pleasant at first, the repetitive rhythm eventually filled Song Xuyi with a strange sense of isolation, as if she had been cut off from the rest of the world…

There was only one bed in the cabin. Song Xuyi didn’t dare share it with Jiang Qianyu and had planned to sleep on the floor, never expecting her to choose the hibernation pod instead. After all, the pod was as cramped as a coffin and hardly comfortable.

Through the gap, Song Xuyi saw Jiang Qianyu curled inward, completely motionless. With her features relaxed, she truly seemed to be fast asleep…

Song Xuyi soon drifted off as well.

But whether due to her afternoon nap or some other reason, her sleep that night was restless.

Because of this dream, Song Xuyi woke up very early. It felt as though she were imprisoned deep beneath the sea, hearing nothing but the muffled crash of waves overhead. The waters surged day after day, year after year, in a seemingly endless cycle…

The dream woke Song Xuyi early.

The ship was passing through a galaxy, and the light of a distant star, traveling across billions of light-years, flooded through the viewport to illuminate the room as bright as day. Song Xuyi had always been a messy sleeper; she was currently spread-eagled across the bed, her blanket already kicked to the floor…

It was still early. Yawning, she slowly wriggled to the edge of the bed, wanting to pull the blanket back up to continue sleeping, only to find someone already standing by the viewport.

Outside lay the boundless universe, where countless nebulae and planets, both brilliant and dim, drifted through the void. Jiang Qianyu stood barefoot before the glass in a long white slip dress, her waist-length black hair spilling untidily down her back. Her neck was slender, her skin pale as snow, and the beautiful, prominent butterfly bones on her back caught the light. The bright light softened the coldness of her face, washing her entire being in a gilded tone that was so breathtakingly beautiful it made the heart tremble…

Jiang Qianyu looked breathtakingly beautiful in this light.

Song Xuyi was stunned for a moment. Perhaps because her early-morning willpower was weak, the sheer visual impact overwhelmed her. Even though she knew full well this woman was no good, Song Xuyi’s heart still raced involuntarily…

“Who could look at someone so beautiful and imagine she was the one who engineered such a terrifying drug?”

Song Xuyi quietly sighed to the System. She kept her movements small, stealthily pulling the blanket over her face, careful not to make a sound. Someone too beautiful often made others feel inadequate, as if even disturbing them were a sin.

“You can stop her! Do your best!”

Uncomprehending of Song Xuyi’s anxiety, the System offered its solemn encouragement.

Perhaps because Jiang Qianyu looked so remarkably like the previous world’s villain, Zhao Qingyu, the System harbored a vague premonition that she would eventually fall for Song Xuyi as well…

Song Xuyi had no idea where the System got its confidence. She let out a soft sigh.

She was completely at a loss when it came to Jiang Qianyu. She had hit rock bottom the moment she arrived and could barely protect herself. Jiang Qianyu only stayed by her side to perfect her drug, and Song Xuyi didn’t even know if she would get rid of her once she lost her value as an observation subject…

Was there any way to break this deadlock? No matter how she looked at it, her path forward seemed bleak.

The ship passed through a thick nebula, and the cabin slowly darkened. In the darkness, there seemed to be a faint rustling

Song Xuyi had already lost all trace of sleepiness and was about to get up—

With a sharp click, the energy lamp turned on.

The moment the light flared, she met Jiang Qianyu’s eyes, right in front of her.

    What did she want?

Suppressing her mounting doubts, Song Xuyi pretended she had just woken and looked at Jiang Qianyu. “Is something wrong?”

“Good morning, Marshal!” Jiang Qianyu’s face had already switched to that familiar veneer of false affection. She looked down with deep concern. “I just wanted to see you. How’s your body feeling today?”

Was she here to check on her “body”?

Song Xuyi narrowed her eyes, guessing her intentions.

Now that she thought about it, she had been so busy resigning and relocating lately that Jiang Qianyu indeed hadn’t found an opportunity to probe her physical condition.

“I’m alright. It’s just that my body’s weak, my head’s a bit dizzy, and my strength still hasn’t recovered…” Song Xuyi clutched her blanket, offering a perfunctory description of her current physical state. Then, she cast a tentative glance at Jiang Qianyu, stating the idea she had just formulated. “I happen to have some things I want to say to you. I’ve thought about it for a long time. It was my fault for trying to forcibly mark you before. I’m grateful for your care during this time, but you’re a precious Omega, and I can’t force you to stay by my side anymore. Once we arrive at Blue Star, if possible, I’ll help you find an excellent Alpha…”

From what Huang Fu had told her, the Alphas on Blue Star didn’t have such strong possessive desires as those on the Imperial Star. Perhaps once Jiang Qianyu found an Alpha she loved and lived a happy life, she wouldn’t spend all her time thinking about overthrowing the Empire.

    “Your head’s a bit dizzy?”

Jiang Qianyu paid no attention to her subsequent words. Catching the key detail she wanted, she leaned forward and naturally reached out to touch Song Xuyi’s forehead. “Are there any other reactions?”

Even though she wasn’t in heat, as Jiang Qianyu drew closer, the faint scent of honey peach enveloped them. The fragrance triggered Song Xuyi’s memories, making her recall once again that chaotic night when she had first arrived in this world…

Song Xuyi’s face flushed crimson. She stammered, “It’s… probably because I didn’t sleep well last night…”

“Why’s your body temperature getting higher and higher?”

Instead of letting go as Song Xuyi hoped, Jiang Qianyu switched hands to touch her forehead. Her brow furrowed deeper. She stared intently at her, then poked her flushed cheek, murmuring in a low voice, “Why’s your face so red too?”

Couldn’t she tell I was blushing out of shyness?

That face, beautiful to the point of being flawless, was right before her eyes, enveloped in the alluring scent of honey peach. Song Xuyi couldn’t tell if Jiang Qianyu was teasing her or if she truly didn’t understand. Before, she would have assumed the woman was playing with her. However, after witnessing her wearing the gravity suit yesterday and considering the environment in which Omegas were raised in the Empire, Song Xuyi felt that Jiang Qianyu might genuinely be clueless…

Song Xuyi pursed her lips, feeling as though she were about to suffocate. She instinctively tilted her head to escape, but Jiang Qianyu pinned her down by the shoulder—

    “Why?”

Jiang Qianyu looked soft and weak, but the strength in her hands was surprisingly immense. Song Xuyi felt an inexplicable suppression emanating from her, rendering her unable to break free. What broke her down even more was that, as Jiang Qianyu drew closer—even though she wasn’t in heat—Song Xuyi felt something slowly protruding from the back of her neck…

What a garbage body! Song Xuyi felt as though her entire body were about to catch fire…

“The sweet orange scent on you is getting stronger and stronger,” Jiang Qianyu muttered, her brow furrowing slightly as she leaned close to Song Xuyi’s neck to sniff. “And yet it’s clearly not your heat right now…”

“You might be sick!” Jiang Qianyu scrutinized her, her brows furrowing deeply. Then, as if she had hit upon a brilliant idea, her eyes lit up with startling intensity.

    “Let me see your gland…”

She parted Song Xuyi’s hair, leaning close to her neck to examine the gland that had emerged halfway from her skin. Her eyes narrowed, and she had every intention of reaching out to touch it…

Song Xuyi’s body tensed in alarm, feeling as though she were truly going crazy!

At this moment, she was absolutely certain of one thing: Jiang Qianyu truly didn’t understand!

In this world, looking at someone’s gland was a clear courtship signal. Jiang Qianyu’s behavior was virtually indistinguishable from seduction—

Yet if she wanted to seduce her, Jiang Qianyu wouldn’t have had to wait until now.

What kind of strange person was she?!

Despite having a face that could captivate anyone and an IQ high enough to develop a drug that turned Alphas into Omegas, she couldn’t even tell the difference between shyness and illness…

“Don’t touch it!” Remembering the numbing, itchy, and painful sensation she had felt the last time her gland was touched, and seeing Jiang Qianyu’s hand reaching toward her neck, Song Xuyi finally could not hold back. She rasped in a hoarse voice, “This is overstepping your bounds!”

Unfortunately, pinned within this small space, her words carried no weight.

“I’m just concerned about the Marshal—” Song Xuyi did not know if it was her imagination, but Jiang Qianyu’s voice also sounded slightly raspy. She leaned even closer, examining the gland in meticulous detail. Her warm breath brushed against the side of Song Xuyi’s ear, sending a shudder through her entire body. “The Marshal’s face is very red, and you look extremely uncomfortable…”

This was completely different from what she had seen in the original host’s memories. Back then, whenever the original host touched Jiang Qianyu, the latter would look utterly disgusted…

At this moment, Song Xuyi utterly loathed the drug that had reduced her to this state, and she loathed her body’s reactions even more. But the most important thing right now was getting through this predicament…

Her mind raced. Finally, she squeezed her eyes shut and cried out—

“My face is red because of you!”

A moment of absolute silence followed. Jiang Qianyu finally stopped moving.

“Because of me?” Jiang Qianyu stayed her hand, though she didn’t release Song Xuyi’s shoulder. Slowly raising her eyebrows, she looked down with leisurely interest, a flicker of confusion crossing her beautiful eyes.

    “Because you’re beautiful!”

Throwing caution to the wind, Song Xuyi turned her flushed face away. “Whenever you get close to me, I feel shy.”

Song Xuyi bit her lower lip: “As long as you stay away from me, the redness on my face will fade.”

Since she had put it so bluntly, Song Xuyi thought Jiang Qianyu would know when to stop. But after a brief silence, Jiang Qianyu’s voice drifted over again, sounding as though she had suddenly realized something. “So, is your gland reacting like this for the same reason?”

“Now that you’ve become an Omega, you find me beautiful and feel shy. So even when you’re not in heat, you still go into heat for me?”

The phrase “go into heat” was simply too mortifying.

The reason Song Xuyi had shifted the focus to her blushing face was to gloss over the matter of her gland. Unfortunately, Jiang Qianyu refused to take the bait. Song Xuyi could already foresee that the woman would develop an endless curiosity toward her gland in the future, and there was still nearly a month left of this journey…

Just the thought of her potential fate made Song Xuyi shudder. She made a last-ditch effort to explain herself, but when she opened her mouth, she found herself completely defenseless. In the common knowledge of this world, glands only emerged during heat. Just now, her only thought had been to distance herself from Jiang Qianyu, yet the moment Jiang Qianyu approached, her gland had popped out at the most inappropriate time…

She clearly hadn’t experienced this when interacting with other Alphas or Betas. Did this only happen in the presence of an Omega?

Or… was it specifically because of Jiang Qianyu?

Song Xuyi utterly loathed the original host for leaving behind such a mess and trying to forcibly mark Jiang Qianyu for no good reason…

And her silence was taken as tacit agreement.

“How miraculous. Is this really how you show your shyness?” Jiang Qianyu’s eyes shone brightly. She reached out to caress Song Xuyi’s flushed cheek, then touched her own. Her gaze lingered longingly on the gland on Song Xuyi’s neck before she finally let go and stood by the bedside.

Once she was freed from the shroud of Jiang Qianyu’s pheromones, Song Xuyi let out a breath of relief. Contemplating the mortifying life ahead of her, she sat slumped against the wall, utterly despondent, as the gland on the back of her neck receded at a rate visible to the naked eye…

“It actually happened exactly as you said!” Jiang Qianyu exclaimed in wonder. She observed Song Xuyi’s neck returning to its smooth state, looking like a child who had found a highly satisfying toy, her eyes brimming with interest…

“Marshal,” Jiang Qianyu leaned in once more, her dark eyes staring unblinkingly at Song Xuyi. “With all due respect, you don’t look like a qualified Omega at all right now. To show my loyalty, I’m willing to help you adapt to life as an Omega…”

She had already taken all the liberties she wanted, and only now did she remember she was the Marshal?

Song Xuyi had no desire to reply. She had already guessed the motive behind Jiang Qianyu’s words: it was nothing more than finding a plausible excuse for her subsequent research behaviors.

Sure enough, Jiang Qianyu looked down at her and stroked her own flawless face once more, her expression taking on a hint of pride.

“Perhaps because you’re an Omega now, I also find you more beautiful than before. You’re even… a bit cute…”

“But I won’t be like you, blushing and going into heat for an Omega just because I think you’re beautiful—”

“I think you need to study the basic decorum of an Omega from me properly—”

Song Xuyi thought that not even the original host would believe Jiang Qianyu’s nonsense.

But even if the original host were in this situation, she would probably have had no choice but to endure it—because Song Xuyi discovered she could not beat Jiang Qianyu in a fight.

After calming down, Song Xuyi also noticed something off. Even though her strength was severely depleted, her current abilities should still have allowed her to fight a normal Alpha for hundreds of rounds. She hadn’t expected to be pinned down so effortlessly by Jiang Qianyu.

Jiang Qianyu had likely done something to herself as well. That was probably why her pheromones were faintly invasive, and why she possessed such great strength herself…

Anyone else might not have been so mad, but if it was Jiang Qianyu, it was absolutely possible.

Song Xuyi grew increasingly curious about Jiang Qianyu’s past. Sometimes Jiang Qianyu behaved with extreme sophistication, like a politician well-versed in the rules. Other times, she did not even seem to know basic common sense…

Just what kind of environment had raised such a bizarre individual?

However, Song Xuyi didn’t dare ask her.

Not only did she not dare ask, but she was also constantly on edge, worrying that Jiang Qianyu might suddenly initiate her “guidance” again…

Fortunately, Jiang Qianyu had gathered enough observations that morning. She spent the rest of the day recording her findings on her smart-brain, paying no further attention to her…

Not long after, Song Xuyi received a transmission from Huang Fu. Feeling as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders, she did not even have time to eat breakfast. Tossing a quick “You sleep on the bed today and I’ll sleep on the floor. I’ll be back late, so don’t wait up for me” to Jiang Qianyu, she bolted to the third floor.

“The homework you turned in to me last night—you solved all of it yourself, without cheating?”

When Song Xuyi pushed open the door, Huang Fu was examining a large projection of her assignment. The gaze he directed at her was incredibly complex.

“I solved it myself,” Song Xuyi lowered her head, looking exceptionally well-behaved. “This knowledge point was a bit difficult. I had to read through it four times before I could write out a general answer like this…”

Seeing that Huang Fu remained silent, Song Xuyi immediately explained her approach to the exercises.

It was obvious that her approach was highly accurate. Before long, Huang Fu called out, “Stop.”

“You’ve made a minor achievement,” Huang Fu tried to maintain a stern face, but the excitement in his eyes showed that what she had accomplished was far more than a mere “minor achievement.”

He opened her passcode book and brought up another section of study materials. Even though he tried his best to hide it, a trace of a smile touched his eyes as he looked at her. “Try studying this section over the next few days…”

Song Xuyi lowered her head and accepted the materials.

Her face remained calm, but her heart leaped with joy. This was the first time she had received affirmation in this world!

The setting of this world was far too unique. She had been dealt the worst possible hand right from the start, and she had spent these days constantly searching for a way out…

And Huang Fu had appeared before her, bringing a way out with him…

Even though she still didn’t know his intentions in making her solve these exercises, she still felt full of energy.

Using study as an excuse, she lingered in the captain’s cabin on the third floor until evening. Seeing how focused she was, Huang Fu grew increasingly warm toward her…

It was not until late at night that a reluctant Song Xuyi was finally urged downstairs by the captain.

After building up enough mental preparation, Song Xuyi gritted her teeth and pushed open the cabin door, expecting another battle of wits with Jiang Qianyu. To her surprise, the other woman was already asleep.

Jiang Qianyu was still sleeping in the hibernation pod, accompanied by the continuous, surging sound of the ocean waves…

Song Xuyi had learned her lesson this time. She wore her earphones to sleep and slept soundly all night, never expecting her earphones to be pulled off the next morning…

Song Xuyi’s hands were tied to the headboard by Jiang Qianyu. Facing her furious, wide-eyed glare, Jiang Qianyu smiled incredibly sweetly. “Marshal, I’m only helping you overcome your shyness…”

Clearly, Jiang Qianyu had held back for a long time. Now that Song Xuyi had fallen into her clutches, not only was her gland thoroughly caressed from top to bottom, but she also suspected she would have been dissected on the spot if they had the proper instruments on hand…

By the time she was finally untied, Song Xuyi was trembling all over, unable to even stand steadily. She looked exactly like a boiled shrimp. The villainess beside her, however, wore an incredibly satisfied smile. She happily released her honey peach pheromones, caressing Song Xuyi’s completely red face as she claimed shamelessly, “See? My guidance is indeed effective…”

“You look even cuter now, Marshal!”

Following that, Song Xuyi began a routine of studying furiously in the captain’s cabin during the day to absorb knowledge and stall for time, while remaining vigilant and on guard against Jiang Qianyu at night.

She had no idea why Jiang Qianyu was so keen on studying her. Even though she felt Jiang Qianyu had already examined her thoroughly after a few rounds, the other woman still caught her off guard with sudden surprise attacks from time to time, leaving her completely defenseless.

What made it worse was that Jiang Qianyu always appeared utterly calm, while Song Xuyi was no match for her if she tried to fight back. Every single time, it was Song Xuyi who ended up red-faced and gasping for breath.

Song Xuyi had once overcome her shame to explain that this was an extremely intimate act and that they could not continue like this, only to be refuted by Jiang Qianyu with a single question: “Isn’t this what you wanted, Marshal?”

Song Xuyi bit her blanket, utterly loathing the original host for leaving behind such a disaster!

Before long, heavy dark circles hung beneath Song Xuyi’s eyes. Amidst her constant studying, testing, and enduring Jiang Qianyu’s research, time slipped by quickly.

More than ten days after boarding the spaceship, those hunting Song Xuyi finally caught up and launched their first external attack.

For the first time, Song Xuyi witnessed the true capabilities of this ship.

Dozens of Beta crew members appeared on the deck. No one knew where these people had come from.

They engaged in a fierce battle with the Alphas. The pursuers had not expected this run-down ship to be such a tough nut to crack, let alone that the martial strength of these Betas was actually comparable to Alphas. Before long, the pursuing Alphas were completely wiped out under the Betas’ onslaught… until the group finally arrived near the wormhole.

Wormholes were the most dangerous regions of interstellar travel. No one dared to launch an attack here; after all, even a slight mishap could drag everyone into destruction, which was simply not worth the risk…

Song Xuyi had originally thought they could spend this period in peace, but she had not expected Huang Fu to seek her out the day before they entered the wormhole.

“It won’t be long before we reach Blue Star…”

This time, Huang Fu unexpectedly did not assign Song Xuyi any homework. He looked at her, the smile on his face incredibly meaningful. “It’s also time to blow up this ship!”

“From now on, there’ll be no more invincible Marshal Song Xuyi in this world…”

The author has something to say:

My apologies for the late update. I couldn’t finish writing it this morning, so this is a two-in-one chapter!

    ~Regarding latiao1:

I thought you all would sympathize with me, dreaming of eating latiao, but instead, you’re all laughing at me?

    Excuse me?

… (T_T) It was a cold, rainy, and miserable night.

As someone who cannot live without spicy food, I was on a business trip to a certain coastal city. The place where I stayed was under semi-closed management. Every day in the cafeteria, I ate steamed fish, steamed shrimp, winter melon, green vegetables, chicken drumsticks…

One day, a dish of stir-fried eggplant with pork appeared. The cafeteria auntie kindly said to me, “It’s a bit spicy, you know. Aren’t you female comrades afraid of getting acne?”

I was so looking forward to it. I shook my head vigorously and told her, “I’m not afraid!”

I happily heaped a large portion onto my plate.

However, afterward… cold reality slapped me hard across the face. In the end, I could only say: … Auntie, I trusted you, but you probably have a misunderstanding of what “spicy” means.

This awful routine repeated day after day. I endured such a miserable existence for a full three days!

It wasn’t until three days later, in a small convenience store, that I met a beautiful, lovely, kind, and gentle woman who was bathed in a holy light…

—Her name was Lao Gan Ma2.

She was my salvation, my fountain of joy!

With her companionship, I finally came back to life and survived for over ten days…

By now, I’ve already finished two jars of Lao Gan Ma’s Chili Oil with Chicken. (Those of you who haven’t tried it can give this flavor a taste. I think it’s the best flavor of Lao Gan Ma~)

    My latiao is arriving tomorrow…

Do you see the tears of joy welling in my eyes?

I believe you all surely understand my anticipation~
