Trending Again – Chapter 22

I say you can do it, and you can do it

“They all say that drinking damages one’s essence, but no one believes it. However, isn’t it the case that none of them can handle it?” Si Meng said with a half-smile.

All the men present were infuriated but just as they were about to scold Si Meng, they were stopped by Manager Liu.

“Who is this young friend?” Manager Liu hesitated to ask.

“There’s no need to know who I am. You just need to know that I’m the one who made this dish.”

“Well, can you please make it again?” Manager Liu pleaded.

“That won’t do, because this dish can only be eaten once,” Si Meng continued teasingly.

“Why? I’ll pay you; just make it for me,” Manager Liu eagerly insisted.

“It’s not about the money. This dish is called 【A Bit of Green on Top, Life Can Get By】. Too much of it wouldn’t be good,” Si Meng said with a charming smile. The others gritted their teeth as they watched; it was clear that this woman was just playing with them, talking about green or not.

“Hahaha, great, interesting! I’ve made a friend in you.” Just as the others were still puzzled, Manager Liu burst into laughter. It seemed he was also someone with a lively personality. No wonder Lin Hanyue and he organized dinners where they drank so much.

Si Meng did this for two reasons: one, to let Lin Hanyue vent her frustration—after all, they enjoyed bullying people; and two, to test Manager Liu’s character. People with a broader outlook and greater magnanimity were worth cooperating and befriending.

It is said that Manager Liu and his wife have been a married couple for over twenty years. They have always been very affectionate, supporting each other from school uniforms to wedding attire. They built their success together from scratch. Manager Liu is indeed a good man. Even after gaining power and influence, he still loves his wife, despite their humble beginnings. Unfortunately, the couple has not been blessed with children, but she doesn’t mind helping them.

“Your condition is quite serious. You must have seen many doctors, right? When you were young, you didn’t take care of your body, excessive socializing, and it has harmed you fundamentally. It’s difficult to treat,” Si Meng said as she took his hand, felt his pulse, and then wiped her hands disdainfully with a tissue.

Upon hearing this, Manager Liu’s eyes lit up as if he had grasped a lifesaving straw. He quickly asked, “So, there’s still a chance for treatment?” All the doctors he had previously consulted had just shaken their heads and left, never suggesting any hope.

The people nearby thought Manager Liu had gone mad, believing the words of an unknown girl. Manager Liu didn’t care about the truth; at this point, he was willing to try anything.

Si Meng casually took a seat beside him. Manager Liu was accustomed to toasting, but this time, it angered her. She coldly said, “With such a poor health condition, you still want to drink? Are you trying to die?” Clearly, she was speaking for Manager Liu’s benefit, but Lin Hanyue couldn’t help feeling uneasy. Si Meng had warned her early on, but she hadn’t taken it seriously.

Manager Liu retracted his hand with a bright smile, looking at the two people in front of him. Suddenly, he understood something: he had brought someone’s loved one to the drinking session, causing the person to feel upset.

“Wait here; I’ll prepare a few dishes for you first,” Si Meng said and then tied on an apron, heading towards the kitchen.

With all the ingredients ready, a series of delicious dishes were freshly cooked. These dishes were mostly light, considering they had consumed so much alcohol, and their stomachs wouldn’t tolerate anything too greasy or spicy.

Si Meng deliberately placed Lin Hanyue’s favorite dish in front of her. Lin Hanyue was quite picky; when she lost her appetite, she only wanted to eat what she liked. Those present could easily see the affection between them.

Although they were unhappy about being scolded by Si Meng earlier, that dissatisfaction had already been diluted by the delicious food. Now, all that was left was a scene of everyone devouring the food eagerly.

Manager Liu was eating, and suddenly, he began to cry, saying that it tasted just like his mother’s cooking!

Those present, having enjoyed three or four bowls of rice, were all in high spirits, having long forgotten about the dining culture.

Si Meng, seeing that the timing was about right, gave Manager Liu a few instructions and handed him a prescription. She advised him to control his diet after returning home, and everything between him and his wife would naturally fall into place.

Si Meng led Lin Hanyue out of the restaurant without saying a word. Once they were outside, Si Meng let go of Lin Hanyue’s hand and walked towards the car on her own. Si Meng looked serious; she was waiting for Lin Hanyue to take the initiative to apologize.

“Um…,” Lin Hanyue stuttered as if her tongue were tied, hesitating to speak.

Si Meng ignored her, turning her head away without looking at her.

Back at the Lin residence, Uncle Wang, the butler, sensed the strange atmosphere. He quietly asked Lin Hanyue if she had upset Si Meng. Lin Hanyue nodded hesitantly. Uncle Wang sighed and advised her that when you make a girl angry, you should coax her properly, take the initiative to apologize. What the girl actually wants is an attitude. When you make a mistake, admit it and make amends.

Lin Hanyue took the advice to heart. In matters of relationships, she was somewhat slow-witted, except when it came to Si Meng; she rarely interacted with people of her age.

After taking a shower and changing into fresh clothes, Lin Hanyue put on a slightly more revealing nightgown. Originally, she had planned to seduce Si Meng. Even though the situation had changed, the plan was still applicable.

At this moment, Si Meng was still angry, keeping herself in the room. Even a cold shower couldn’t extinguish the anger in her heart. Lin Hanyue seemed to be taking her lightly, treating her words as if they were nothing. Was it because she usually appeared too soft?

She set the air conditioning to the lowest temperature, but it remained uncomfortably hot. Growing angrier in her thoughts, she was just about to go out and confront Lin Hanyue when they collided at the door. The sensation of Lin Hanyue in underwear from the last encounter was already intense, and this time, Lin Hanyue wasn’t wearing anything.

“You, you, you…” Si Meng stammered, speechless. The alluring Lin Hanyue seemed like a captivating beauty, enticing and irresistible, like a living Daji. No wonder they say ancient kings delayed their morning court sessions.

“This time, it’s my fault. I should have listened to you,” Lin Hanyue admitted for the first time, and the two ample and white bunny peaks swayed before her eyes.

Si Meng acknowledged she didn’t have the self-discipline of Liang Hui, so she had been stunned into silence. It took a while for her to react.

Angry, she said, “Can you please dress properly? Get out!” She pulled Lin Hanyue’s clothes up and quickly pushed her out, like a proper gentleman.

As soon as Lin Hanyue left, Si Meng couldn’t hold back any longer. A nosebleed gushed out uncontrollably. She couldn’t stop it. Back when she attended her brother’s wedding, she had mocked him for getting a nosebleed during the ceremony. Now, it was her turn. What kind of peculiar hereditary condition was this in their family? Did encountering a true goddess lead to a nosebleed?

After finally dealing with the nosebleed, Si Meng stepped out of the living room only to see Lin Hanyue lying on the sofa, curled up in extreme pain.

“Lin Hanyue, what’s wrong with you? Don’t scare me.” Si Meng anxiously called out.

Lin Hanyue slightly opened her eyes, weakly saying, “Stomach medicine, on the table.”

Si Meng quickly picked up the medicine, fed it to Lin Hanyue, and after taking the medicine, Lin Hanyue’s complexion gradually improved. However, it was clear that this was just a temporary solution and didn’t address the root cause.

It seems she’ll have to find time to go back home and ask her mom for the prescription. The Hua family, with its century-old foundation in traditional Chinese medicine, has seen a decline in the number of people capable of passing down their skills in this generation. If it weren’t for her grandfather, who noticed her extraordinary sense of smell and insisted she learn “looking, listening, questioning, and feeling the pulse,” there might not have been anyone to carry on the family tradition.

Using massage techniques, Si Meng massaged Lin Hanyue’s lower abdomen, and the pain was quickly relieved. It’s a pity that she didn’t learn acupuncture; otherwise, the effect would have been even better. Despite acupuncture being effective, she actually preferred learning knife skills over it.
