Trending Again – Chapter 9
by Little PandaStay Away from Me, I Think You’re Dirty
Bai Lu, now the target of everyone’s ire, had no choice but to shut her mouth. She couldn’t fathom why so many people were speaking up for this lazy, lackadaisical little internet celebrity. Jealousy gnawed at her — on what grounds? Just because of that little white face1 that only knew how to seduce people?
Si Meng didn’t bother with someone like her. Anyone with sense knew there were hidden cameras nearby — why pick a fight and show an ugly side of yourself?
Si Meng stretched and headed for the tent to sleep. Since there was only one tent, the two guys had unanimously decided to stand watch outside. Besides, the small campfire nearby kept things fairly warm.
But just as Si Meng reached the tent, Bai Lu blocked her path. Si Meng looked at her, puzzled. “What do you want now?”
Bai Lu said bossily, “I need to sleep. I’m only here on this show to go through the motions. Dingsheng Group — you’ve heard of it, right? My uncle’s company. If you know what’s good for you, don’t mess with me. Move aside, now!”
Si Meng’s interest was piqued — what a rare, once-in-a-century piece of work. She scoffed. “I don’t care who your ancestors were for the past eighteen generations. This tent belongs to me and Lin Hanyue. We’re going to bed.”
Bai Lu reconsidered — riding the Movie Queen’s coattails wouldn’t be bad either. She certainly wasn’t about to let this D-list little internet celebrity off easily. She lifted her chin haughtily. “Then you move. I’ll sleep with her.” She turned to Lin Hanyue with a brilliant, captivating smile and said in a sickly-sweet tone, “Jiejie, I’m scared of the dark at night. Can I…” She reached out to link arms with Lin Hanyue.
Lin Hanyue’s face twisted in disgust. Only her masterful acting kept her from losing her temper on the spot. She dodged Bai Lu’s outstretched dirty hand and recoiled. “Stay away from me, I think you’re dirty. Why do you smell like fox odor?”
Si Meng chimed in with a laugh. “Sorry about that — she has mysophobia. She only sleeps with people who keep themselves clean.”
Bai Lu’s hand froze midair, stuck between reaching and retreating. She clenched her teeth inwardly. Si Meng, was it? Fine. I’ll remember you. Just you wait.
Si Meng crawled into the tent. Lin Hanyue was already reclining languidly inside. The tent was small, so the two of them sat very close together. That faint hyacinth scent drifted to Si Meng’s nose again. She leaned in and took a deep sniff. “You smell really good.”
Lin Hanyue’s cheeks flushed slightly. She was convinced Si Meng was doing it on purpose. She shoved Si Meng to one side and claimed the larger share of the space. “Don’t come over here!” she warned.
Si Meng had no choice but to curl into a ball. Lin Hanyue was so unreasonable — there was clearly still plenty of room.
Lin Hanyue ignored her sulking and said matter-of-factly, “You have bad sleeping habits. Who knows what you’ll do at night.”
“I don’t have bad sleeping habits. You’ve never slept with me before.”
“How have I not… Anyway, they’re bad.”
Si Meng yawned, but sleep wouldn’t come. She blamed it entirely on Lin Hanyue being too fragrant. She rolled over to face Lin Hanyue and poked her slender, pale collarbone. “Hey, are you asleep?” she said in a soft, sweet voice.
When Lin Hanyue didn’t answer, she traced her finger down along the collarbone…
Lin Hanyue lifted her gaze and caught the mischievous little hand. The hand was slightly chubby, soft and pale as a lotus root. Their breaths mingled. Lin Hanyue caught the milk candy scent rolling off Si Meng’s skin — soft and sweet, reminding her of the White Rabbit milk candy2 she’d eaten as a child.

Lin Hanyue sighed, thinking Si Meng couldn’t sleep because something was weighing on her mind. “Don’t worry, she won’t dare do anything to you,” she comforted her. “Just a minor celebrity who slept her way up, that’s all.”
“Hm?” Si Meng felt Lin Hanyue’s hand gently stroking her hair, feather-light and warm.
“You’re my person, I’ve got you covered. Go to sleep.” But the moment Lin Hanyue finished speaking, she found Si Meng already fast asleep, a trickle of drool at the corner of her mouth.
In the small hours of the morning, Lin Hanyue jolted awake. Something soft and sweet-smelling had pressed against her, arms wrapped around her waist and refusing to let go, face buried in her chest.
Lin Hanyue seethed. This restless little pervert. The moment she freed herself from Si Meng’s arms, Si Meng’s legs wrapped around her instead, like an octopus. They struggled back and forth, but in the end, Lin Hanyue was left so physically and mentally drained that she simply gave up and let Si Meng cling to her.
