After Being Scummed – Chapter 103
by Little PandaExtra Chapter Three: The Golden Time of Youth 8
Be my girlfriend.
On the other end of the line, Yin Bai was silent for a long while before finally answering, “Okay.”
She had agreed to Zuo Jingyou’s request, and so, the next evening, she arrived with her bodyguards in the city where Zuo Jingyou was filming.
When Zuo Jingyou saw Yin Bai appear on set, she was incredibly surprised and delighted. As soon as she finished her scene, Zuo Jingyou went to Yin Bai’s side and linked her arm through hers, still finding it a little hard to believe. “Xiao Bai, you really came!”
Yin Bai lowered her gaze to look at the way Zuo Jingyou’s eyes were sparkling as she looked up at her, and she let out a soft huff. “Didn’t you say you wanted to see me?”
You wanted to see me, so I came.
Zuo Jingyou heard the hidden meaning in her words and couldn’t stop the smile that curved her eyes.
It was the middle of a frigid winter, and this northern city was covered in a thick blanket of snow, a vast expanse of white everywhere.
The nights were unbearably cold, and Yin Bai’s leg couldn’t take that kind of chill; it would ache whenever it got cold.
Afraid she would suffer, Zuo Jingyou took Yin Bai for a steaming hot pot right after she finished filming.
Inside the bustling hot pot restaurant, through a fragrant white mist, Zuo Jingyou looked at Yin Bai sitting across from her, swishing beef in the broth, and asked with a grin, “Isn’t it delicious?”
Yin Bai nodded, giving her brief assessment. “It’s all right.”
Zuo Jingyou laughed. “The first time I came here, I was thinking that if I could bring you, you would definitely like it.”
Hearing Zuo Jingyou say that, Yin Bai couldn’t help but look up at her, muttering, “Did you miss me that much?”
Zuo Jingyou nodded, admitting it frankly and openly. “I did. I just really missed you.”
Yin Bai froze for a second and looked up at Zuo Jingyou, only to see her looking back with utmost seriousness, a light shining in her eyes. “Maybe it’s because I spent so much time with you, so being apart from you this time made me miss you more than ever.”
“What about you? Yin Bai, did you miss me?”
Zuo Jingyou gazed at Yin Bai’s gradually reddening face, watching her gently, trying to find a satisfactory answer.
Yin Bai’s ears turned red, betraying her. She dipped a piece of beef into a bowl of plain boiled water, then lowered her head and took a small bite, murmuring softly, “Well… I guess I did.”
Seeing her like this, Zuo Jingyou was a little dissatisfied. “What kind of answer is ‘I guess’? I missed you so, so much, so how come you didn’t miss me so, so much? That’s not fair.”
Yin Bai’s cheeks were faintly pink as she chewed the beef, retorting stubbornly, “Just because you missed me so, so much, does that mean I have to miss you so, so much?”
Zuo Jingyou nodded earnestly, saying with great solemnity, “Of course!”
Yin Bai’s lips curved up. “Zuo Jingyou, you’re so domineering,” she said, a little helplessly.
Zuo Jingyou smiled, saying with straight reason and strong qi1, “Of course! I put in the effort of missing you, so naturally I should get the feedback I deserve!”
Yin Bai shot her a look and huffed, saying nothing more.
After the two finished their happy hot pot meal, Zuo Jingyou, worried about Yin Bai’s delicate constitution, took her back to the hotel.
For some reason, Yin Bai didn’t get a separate room, instead staying in Zuo Jingyou’s.
Following Zuo Jingyou’s directions, Yin Bai took out her clothes and let Zuo Jingyou put them away before the two went into the bathroom one after the other.
When Yin Bai finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, she found Zuo Jingyou holding a script and rehearsing.
Yin Bai dragged her limping leg over to the bed, lifted the covers, and got in.
In the room, which was filled with warm air from the heater, Yin Bai leaned against the headboard and watched Zuo Jingyou pacing by the bed, reciting her lines. She frowned and asked, “Didn’t you memorize your lines ages ago? Why are you still practicing?”
Zuo Jingyou walked toward Yin Bai with the script, her brow furrowed slightly. “Mm… I’ve run into a bit of a problem, and I’m thinking about how to solve it.”
Yin Bai tilted her head, asking in confusion, “What problem?”
Zuo Jingyou knelt on the bed with the script, moved next to Yin Bai, and sighed. “It’s just… I might have to film a kiss scene tomorrow.”
Yin Bai froze, turning to look at Zuo Jingyou beside her. It took a long moment for the information to sink in. “A kiss scene?”
Zuo Jingyou nodded and placed the script in front of Yin Bai, her fingertip circling a scene between the two leads. “Right here. Director He thinks adding a kiss scene will elevate the emotional development.”
“But I’ve never kissed anyone, so I don’t know the best way to film it.”
Yin Bai looked at the lines, and an image of Zuo Jingyou kissing someone else instantly popped into her head. All at once, her chest felt tight and sour, her mind went hot, and she felt uncomfortable all over.
She forced down the discomfort in her heart, glanced at Zuo Jingyou, and said in a strange yin-yang tone2, “For this kind of scene, can’t you just use camera angles?”
Zuo Jingyou’s lips curved. She sighed and said, “But that would be so unprofessional, and it wouldn’t have a very good effect.”
Yin Bai was instantly unhappy! If you don’t use camera angles, are you planning to actually kiss someone else?
She was filled with resentment, her mind racing. Did I come all this way just to watch you kiss someone else?
But Yin Bai couldn’t say it out loud, so she just said awkwardly, “Then what do you want to do? This is a scene for two people. What’s the point of you practicing alone right now?”
Ah! This is infuriating! I’m so mad! She was so angry she was about to get to the point where her mouth wouldn’t choose its words3!
Zuo Jingyou bit her lip and let out a soft sigh. “You’re right. It’s no use for me to ponder it alone. So, I was thinking, I wonder if someone would be willing to practice with me?”
As she spoke, Zuo Jingyou held the script and let her gaze fall on Yin Bai’s soft pink lips, a dark light floating in the depths of her eyes.
Yin Bai stared blankly, and it took a good while for her to process what Zuo Jingyou had said. She pointed a finger at herself and said in disbelief, “You want to practice kissing with me?”
Zuo Jingyou nodded. “Mhm. Is that not okay?”
A wave of wild joy surged through Yin Bai, but it was quickly followed by a sense of anger. She took a deep breath, looked at Zuo Jingyou with a mix of frustration and annoyance, and said through gritted teeth, “Zuo Jingyou, has your head gotten water in it4? How could I possibly agree to that!”
Zuo Jingyou blinked, looking at Yin Bai. “If you don’t agree, who else can I practice with?”
Zuo Jingyou put down the script and grabbed Yin Bai’s arm, speaking in a wheedling tone. “Come on, Xiao Bai, don’t be so stingy. Just practice with me.”
“Once. Just once, okay?”
Yin Bai was furious! She glared fiercely at Zuo Jingyou. “Is this a matter of being stingy? This is, this is…”
Zuo Jingyou held her hand, looking at her with a smile. “Taking advantage of you? Please, we’re both girls. A little kiss won’t hurt anything.”
“Just try it with me. Just give it a try.”
Yin Bai was extremely resistant, turning her head away. “No way! In your dreams!”
Zuo Jingyou leaned in closer, one hand cupping the side of Yin Bai’s face as she looked at her with a gentle gaze. “Just once, just a try…”
Yin Bai was fuming. She said, puffed up with anger, “I said no, so it’s n—mph…”
Before she could finish her complaint, Zuo Jingyou turned her face and kissed her with fierce determination.
As a warm kiss landed on her lips, Yin Bai’s eyes widened at Zuo Jingyou, who was leaning over to kiss her. Her heart skipped a beat.
The two remained quietly pressed together for a long moment before Zuo Jingyou, as if testing the waters, began to suck on her lips and gave them a gentle bite.
That bite made Yin Bai instantly have her fur stand on end, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
She hurriedly raised her hands and pushed Zuo Jingyou off her, her face crimson as she stammered, “You, you, you…”
Zuo Jingyou’s ears were red, but she remained calm and composed as she looked at Yin Bai, saying very placidly, “What about me?”
What about you? What else could it be! Why did you suddenly kiss me!
Yin Bai’s heart was in a flurry, her chest aching with a tight, swelling feeling. She shrank against the headboard, her eyes darting everywhere, not daring to look at Zuo Jingyou. “Why did you suddenly…”
She mumbled, wanting to scold Zuo Jingyou but unable to get a single word out. She just blushed to herself, like a cute red apple, wishing she could hide away.
Zuo Jingyou couldn’t resist wrapping an arm around her neck. She tilted her head to look at Yin Bai’s face and asked with a smile, “What about me?”
Zuo Jingyou raised a hand, her nimble fingers kneading the nape of Yin Bai’s neck, teasing her until she felt itchy all over. Like a little kitten, Yin Bai shrank away from her touch.
Seeing Yin Bai acting like a shy grass5, Zuo Jingyou leaned in and whispered in her ear, “Do you hate it?”
Yin Bai felt the warm breath on her chin and the side of her neck. She turned her head, not daring to look at her, and said awkwardly, “Hate what?”
Zuo Jingyou smiled, her lips brushing against Yin Bai’s ear. “Me kissing you.”
Yin Bai didn’t know how to answer, so she simply ignored her with a huff.
Having spent several months with her, Zuo Jingyou knew her kitten-like personality required some gentle coaxing.
Her lips curved into a smile. “It seems you’re tacitly admitting you don’t hate it. Since that’s the case, I’ll continue practicing.”
As she said this, Zuo Jingyou cupped Yin Bai’s face with one hand, leaned down to kiss her lips, and said softly, “Close your eyes.”
The moment their lips met, Yin Bai suppressed her own racing heart and obediently closed her eyes.
So soft, just so, so soft…
Leaning against the headboard, Yin Bai couldn’t help but wrap her arms around Zuo Jingyou’s waist, parting her lips slightly to capture the other’s.
It was a long, lingering kiss. She held Zuo Jingyou as they slid down into the blankets, pulling the comforter over both of them. It wasn’t until Zuo Jingyou was lying on top of her, kissing her until her breathing grew ragged, that Yin Bai gently pushed her away.
Yin Bai reached out and stopped Zuo Jingyou’s hand as it slipped inside her pajamas. She looked up at her, a dark light in the depths of her eyes. “Does your kissing practice need to go this far?”
Zuo Jingyou didn’t pull her hand out. Lying on top of her, she looked at Yin Bai with bright eyes and said, “What about you? Why did you come the moment I said I wanted to see you?”
Neither of them was a fool; of course they understood the meaning behind all their actions.
Yin Bai held Zuo Jingyou’s hand, unconsciously stroking her fingers, and finally couldn’t stop herself from asking, “What… do you mean?”
Lying on top of her, Zuo Jingyou reached up and caressed her crimson lips, saying with a grin, “Whatever you mean is what I mean.”
Yin Bai didn’t answer. She stared at Zuo Jingyou for a while before muttering in a small voice, “How about… we try dating?”
Her voice was so quiet that Zuo Jingyou didn’t hear her clearly. She blinked and asked, “What did you say?”
Yin Bai gripped her hand, pulled it out of her pajamas with a deadpan expression, and said stiffly, “Nothing. I’m going to sleep.”
Ugh, Zuo Jingyou is so annoying! Teasing me even at a time like this!
Seeing her acting so awkward, Zuo Jingyou couldn’t help but laugh. She intertwined their fingers, leaned down to give her a light peck on the lips, and said with a smile, “Xiao Bai, you’re so cute!”
Yin Bai huffed and ignored her.
Zuo Jingyou pinched her cheek and said with a grin as she lay on top of her, “You’re so cute, I like you so much.”
“Xiao Bai, be my girlfriend.”
“I’ll always dote on you, love you, protect you, tease you, and be with you forever. What do you think?”
Her confession came so suddenly. Yin Bai looked up, staring at Zuo Jingyou in shock, her eyes filled with delighted surprise.
Zuo Jingyou looked down at her, her gaze full of gentleness. “Well? Will you say yes?”
“Jiejie will always spoil you, you know.”
Yin Bai fought to keep her lips from smiling as she looked up at Zuo Jingyou and gave a smug huff. “Since you’re being so sincere, I guess I’ll reluctantly agree.”
Zuo Jingyou’s eyes curved as she smiled. “So you’re my girlfriend now? In that case, girlfriend, can I kiss you now?”
Zuo Jingyou leaned down, her gaze landing on Yin Bai’s lips, her eyes filled with a husky light.
Yin Bai raised her arms, hooked them around her neck, and tilted her head up to meet her lips, continuing their intimate entanglement.
