Panda Cub – Chapter 95

Parent-Child Variety Show 6

She shouldn’t be called “Daidai”!

On the other side, in the bedroom, Xiao Daidai was completely stunned.

Bei Queting had transformed into human form, slightly shorter than Xiao Daidai, and was nervously tugging at her clothes while looking at her with some embarrassment.

Xiao Daidai stared blankly at the girl in front of her. Her shoulder-length hair draped over her shoulders, and she wore a slightly tattered gray short-sleeve outfit that seemed too big for her, making her look somewhat lost in it.

Her small face was clean, with the baby fat typical of her age, and her black eyes held an unusual depth for someone so young. She pursed her lips and looked at Xiao Daidai.

Xiao Daidai hesitated and scratched her cheek, asking, “Are you cold?”

Spring had just begun, and it was still a bit chilly. Most people would wear an extra jacket. Though they were spirits, they were still young and lacked the spiritual power to resist the cold wind.

Thinking of this, Xiao Daidai hurriedly opened her small suitcase and rummaged through it. After finding some suitable clothes for Beibei, she ran over with them and anxiously urged, “It’s cold, hurry and put these on!”

Seeing her holding the clothes without moving, Xiao Daidai was momentarily dazed. She quickly ran into the bathroom, leaving Beibei outside alone, thinking it would ease her embarrassment.

Bei Queting held the clothes He Jingsu gave her. The soft and comfortable material emitted a gentle warmth. Her nose suddenly tingled with emotion; no one had ever cared if she was cold before. Even in winter, she was used to wearing thin short sleeves like now.

She glanced at the closed bathroom door, then took off her own clothes and put on Daidai’s.

She was smaller and thinner than Daidai, so the clothes were still a bit loose, but they were much better than her previous ones, which let the wind seep through.

After changing, she knocked on the bathroom door softly and said, “Daidai, I’m done.”

Inside, Xiao Daidai quickly opened the door. Seeing Bei Queting standing there, she beamed a big smile.

Bei Queting was now wearing a white T-shirt with a picture of a panda cub holding a milk bottle, a blue denim jacket, and loose denim pants of the same color. She looked more spirited and warmer than before.

Xiao Daidai, like a good friend, took her hand and walked towards the big bed, whispering, “When moms have time, we’ll go buy you some more suitable clothes!”

Seeing Beibei in human form, Xiao Daidai finally understood what her grandmother meant by saying she was malnourished. As a chubby little bird, it wasn’t obvious, but in human form, she looked overly skinny.

Holding Beibei’s hand, Xiao Daidai felt a bit heartbroken and decided she must ask her mom to give her more supplements.

“Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap?” Daidai asked in her babyish voice. Today had been a busy day, and considering how frail Beibei looked, she must be tired.

Bei Queting looked at Daidai, expecting her to ask about earlier events, but she didn’t. Lowering her gaze, she let Daidai help her take off her jacket, then pull a blanket over her, softly saying, “Just sleep for a while, then we’ll have dinner.”

Bei Queting responded lightly, closing her eyes but unable to sleep, her mind filled with thoughts of He Jingsu. She thought of He Jingsu’s two mothers and then her past, finally settling on the moment when He Jingsu opened the bathroom door with a bright smile. She smiled slightly.

Meeting her was truly fortunate.

Xiao Daidai stayed by the bedside, watching Bei Queting. Seeing her suddenly smile in her sleep, her eyes lit up, and she lay on the bed, smiling too. This was the first time Beibei had smiled since transforming into human form.

Her smile was beautiful. It would be nice if she could smile more often.

When He Ying came in to call them for dinner, she saw this scene.

Xiao Daidai was lying by the bed, holding the blanket on Bei Queting, both of them asleep. The sight was indescribably heartwarming. He Ying couldn’t help but smile softly, carefully observing them.

How long had they known each other, yet they were already so close?

She gently woke them, saying to the still sleepy little ones, “Time for dinner. After dinner, we can sleep, okay?”

Daidai, still a bit dazed from being woken up, instinctively leaned towards He Ying, wanting to be held.

Seeing this, He Ying smiled, scooping her up and giving her a kiss on the cheek. She looked at the still confused Bei Queting and said with a smile, “Do you want a hug too, like Daidai?”

Seeing Bei Queting in human form, He Ying felt a pang of sorrow. She was as small and thin as Daidai was at three, her clothes still a bit loose.

Hearing He Ying’s words, Daidai looked expectantly at Beibei.

Bei Queting, seeing their close relationship, didn’t let He Ying hug her but transformed into her original form and flew into Daidai’s arms.

Seeing her fly into her arms, Daidai was delighted, kissing her on the head with a bright smile.

Bei Queting stiffened, not expecting He Jingsu to suddenly kiss her.

He Ying chuckled at this, ruffling Daidai’s hair as they walked out, saying, “Daidai, you shouldn’t kiss people without asking if they want to be kissed first.”

Daidai looked up at He Ying, a bit puzzled, but believing her mother wouldn’t lie to her, she remembered this. She looked down and murmured to Beibei, “Beibei, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have kissed you without asking.”

Bei Queting, seeing her scrunched-up face, shook her head and softly said, “It’s okay.”

Hearing this, Xiao Daidai smiled brightly again and looked up, asking He Ying, “Mom, when you kissed me earlier, you didn’t ask if I agreed!”

He Ying: “…” She shouldn’t have let Jing Dan call her Daidai!

She simply couldn’t help laughing and crying at the same time. After going downstairs, she took Jing Dan’s hand and kissed her on the face, saying, “We don’t need to ask, do we? Don’t you always agree when Mommy and I kiss you?”

Jing Dan, surprised by the kiss, blinked, not understanding.

Xiao Daidai thought about it, realizing it was true. She always agreed when her moms kissed her.

She then kissed He Ying on the cheek, indicating she understood.

Seeing this, Jing Dan frowned, saying, “Daidai, why do you only kiss Mom and not Mommy?”

She leaned in, insisting on a kiss from Daidai.

Watching this playful family, Bei Queting felt much happier.

Sitting down for dinner, the family chatted while eating. They needed to discuss their performance for the family night three days later.

“Let’s each sing a song. How about that?” He Ying suggested.

Xiao Daidai had no objections, but Jing Dan pursed her lips, looking reluctant.

Singing in front of everyone would ruin her image!

He Ying clearly understood her little thoughts and leaned in to whisper with a chuckle, “It’s okay. We’ll all be singing together. If there’s no image, then none of us have one.”

The family was united, and no one looked down on anyone else.

Hearing this, Jing Dan felt much better and reluctantly agreed that everyone would perform at least one song.

“Mom, does that mean Beibei will also sing?” Xiao Daidai asked, happily holding the chubby bird in her hands.

Bei Queting: “…” Did she forget her original form? How could she sing?

However, upon hearing this, He Ying had a contemplative look on her face. She asked Bei Queting, “How about you chirp a few times on the day?”

With this suggestion, they managed to come up with another act.

Bei Queting: “…”

Director’s team: “…”

Netizens: “…”

To come up with a show, you guys are really going all out! Even a chubby bird is scheduled to perform!

In the end, the little chubby bird was given a solo chirping act and was also to support Xiao Daidai by setting the mood and providing accompaniment, taking on multiple important roles.

After that, He Ying planned a dance performance, and somehow they managed to piece together seven acts, including a skit performed by the entire family.

By this point, everyone was fully excited, but only He Ying and her family knew that this performance would likely become their most embarrassing moment.

And in ultra-high definition.

At night, Jing Dan lay in bed, still a bit upset about the performance. Her image was really going to be ruined!

He Ying hugged her from behind, kissed her softly on the ear, and gently said, “It’s okay. The most important thing is that our family is happy together.”

As long as the family did things together, who cared about image? Happiness was all that mattered.

Jing Dan turned around and kissed He Ying on the lips, her hands slipping under her shirt. She murmured, “Then you have to make it up to me!”

At least, after losing her image, she could get some comfort!

He Ying felt warmth in her heart, hugged Jing Dan, her eyes soft, and made it up to her with actions.

Jing Dan murmured as she kissed, grateful that those two little ones had moved to the room next door. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dared ask He Ying for compensation.

Meanwhile, in the other room, Xiao Daidai, in her original form, slept soundly holding a chubby bird.
