Ex-Girlfriend – Chapter 22

Legal Hunting
Xue Chenxin hid his figure inside the teaching building.
The dormitory building was no longer safe. Who knew when those people would lose their minds? If they couldn’t grab any items, they might try to drag everyone down with them.
Although the teaching building was locked up except for the third floor, the restrooms didn’t have locks. Besides, hiding in the girls’ restroom, there was no way he’d be discovered.
With fewer and fewer people left, the ones who survived definitely weren’t people to be trifled with. Xue Chenxin didn’t plan on going out to fight head-on just yet. He wanted to wait until the very end to see how things went.
If there were fewer than five people, that would be great; he could just surrender and join their team directly.
Xue Chenxin faintly heard footsteps and pressed himself against the wall of the girls’ restroom.
Zero Nine: “This guy is seriously wretched, actually hiding in the girls’ restroom. How disgusting.”
Xin Lan’s lips curled into a cold sneer. How could anyone who did that kind of thing be a good person?
People like him deserved to die. Even in a society ruled by law, there was no telling what he might do.
“You guys wait for me here. I’m going to the restroom.”
Xin Lan looked toward the girls’ restroom and walked over.
“Then I’ll go look for Zou Yunfei first. Xu Deng, wait for her here.”
Shen Shuiyan knew that walls had ears, so she didn’t speak very loudly.
Xu Deng nodded, indicating she understood.
“If anything happens, just scream. I’ll come out immediately.”
Xin Lan instructed her two teammates before heading in.
—Tap.
—Tap.
These were footsteps Xin Lan was deliberately making.
Xue Chenxin held his breath, unable to suppress the excitement in his heart.
The one coming in had to be a girl; he’d heard her voice.
Once she came in, he would immediately pounce, pin her to the ground, and snatch her clue fragments.
If she was pretty and had a good body, he could even… Hehehe…
The footsteps drew closer and closer.
As she was about to appear right in front of him, Xue Chenxin got into position.
But to his surprise, before he could even make a move, a hand seized his sleeve, grabbed his arm, and threw him hard onto the ground.
A muffled groan of pain escaped his throat. He had barely managed to wobble to his feet when his hair was grabbed, and his head was slammed violently against the wall.
The slam left Xue Chenxin dizzy and disoriented, and he felt something warm trickling down from his head.
“Are you fucking out of your mind?!”
“What were you trying to do just now? Go on, keep going.”
How could Xue Chenxin be willing to let a girl provoke him? Shaking his head, he used the dim light from the window to strike out at Xin Lan.
Xin Lan grabbed his clothes and drove her foot brutally into his stomach.
Xin Lan used even more force than when she had beaten Zou Yunfei. Under the opposing forces, his clothes ripped right open. Xue Chenxin fell backward onto the ground, his body landing with a heavy, dull thud.
Startled by the series of loud thuds inside, Xu Deng ran in and flicked on the restroom light.
The scene before her made her freeze for a moment, thinking she might have interrupted Xin Lan beating someone up.
Xin Lan stood with her hands in her pockets, looking completely composed and at ease, while a boy lay on the floor, state of life or death unknown.
Looking at Xue Chenxin’s posture, Xin Lan knew he was faking it.
He was probably waiting for her to come over to take his clue fragments so he could launch a counterattack.
But that wasn’t her ultimate goal anyway.
Xin Lan walked over and stepped hard on Xue Chenxin’s chest.
The pressure nearly knocked the wind out of Xue Chenxin, but he tenaciously kept up the act of being unconscious.
“Come here.”
Xin Lan hooked her finger at Xu Deng, who was standing by the door.
Xu Deng nodded and quickly hurried over, glancing between Xin Lan and the boy on the floor.
“Do you remember what you did this afternoon to the guy who was chasing you?”
Realizing that “chasing” here didn’t mean romantic pursuit, Xu Deng immediately understood and pointed at herself.
“Yeah. The harder, the better.”
Receiving her orders, Xu Deng—who had been a bit afraid of this girl from the start, sensing an indescribable danger around her—decided to follow her lead1 after everything they’d been through. If she was told to stomp, she’d stomp.
Xu Deng raised her foot and stomped down hard.
Xue Chenxin let out a squeal like a slaughtered pig, clutching his groin as he curled up and rolled on the floor.
“I originally wanted to slice that part off,” Xin Lan said, twirling a folding knife in her hand. “But doing that would mean I’d have to look at it. Forget it, I’m afraid it’d dirty my eyes.”
The cold blade glinted with a chilling light, making one shudder involuntarily.
Xu Deng silently nudged a bit to the side. What kind of sin had this guy committed to make Xin Lan despise him so much?
“But letting you die like this would be too easy on you,” Xin Lan murmured.
If she drove a knife straight into his heart and let him die from blood loss, compared to the original owner who had suffered immense pain and torment, such a death would indeed be far too easy.
He had to be tortured to death in fear and agony. Only then could he pay for the sins he’d committed.
Xin Lan glanced at Xue Chenxin’s layers of clothing and got a good idea.
Grabbing the collar of the unresponsive boy, she slammed the back of his head against the floor.
With limited conditions, this was all she could do.
The back of the head is a very vulnerable part of the human brain; one wrong move and he’d die. So Xin Lan deliberately controlled her force, knocking him out without killing him.
“Pull his clothes up. Push his sweater and everything as high as possible.”
Xu Deng didn’t know what she was planning, but she did as she was told.
Unconscious, Xue Chenxin had no idea his clothes were being pulled up, exposing his stomach.
Xin Lan toyed with the knife in her hand, figuring out where to start first.
She bent down, sliding the tip of the blade along Xue Chenxin’s thigh.
First, ruin his legs so he couldn’t run.
Then, ruin his hands to keep him completely immobilized, and block his mouth so he couldn’t scream.
Having made her plan, Xin Lan nodded with satisfaction.
However, tools on hand were limited. No matter how strong Xin Lan was, she couldn’t use a folding pocketknife to hack off a person’s legs; after all, she wasn’t holding a saw.
Perhaps to make running easier, Xue Chenxin hadn’t worn very thick pants, which made things convenient for Xin Lan.
Xin Lan plunged the knife into Xue Chenxin’s thigh and pulled it out, blood instantly staining that patch of fabric red.
Xue Chenxin’s body convulsed slightly, but he still didn’t wake up.
Xin Lan stabbed several holes into his thighs and slashed his calves a few times.
His pants were already soaked in fresh blood. Under this agonizing pain, Xue Chenxin woke up from his unconscious state.
“Awake? Just in time.”
Xin Lan extended the knife toward Xu Deng, who took it immediately with a nod of understanding.
Xue Chenxin’s eyes widened as he watched Xin Lan grab his arm and twist it viciously.
He was in so much pain that he almost lost his voice, and the agony from below his waist made him nearly faint.
“Spare me, I shouldn’t have tried to ambush you just now. You can take all my fragments, just take them, I beg you.”
Xue Chenxin had no idea how he’d provoked this lunatic. A look of pleading washed over his face, tears smearing all over.
If his legs could move, he definitely would have knelt down to beg for mercy, but it was too painful; even the slightest movement hurt terribly.
“I’ll take your fragments, but not just yet.”
Xin Lan grabbed his other arm and dislocated it without a shred of mercy as well.
“Just give me a quick death! Torturing me like this…”
Without waiting for him to finish, Xin Lan dislocated his jaw too.
“So noisy.”
“Do you not have a fucking clue what kind of person you are?”
“Want to know why I’m beating you?”
Stepping on Xue Chenxin’s stomach, Xin Lan leaned down to look at him, her gorgeous face showing a hint of darkness. If not for this situation, Xue Chenxin would have found her low laugh incredibly alluring.
Seeing his expression daze for a split second, Xin Lan frowned. Still stubborn to the core.
“I beat you because I beat you. Do I need a reason?”
Xin Lan stood straight, releasing her foot, and watched Xue Chenxin’s expression suddenly distort.
I beat you because I beat you. Do I need to pick a special day for it?
She took the knife back from Xu Deng, dragging the blood-stained tip across his stomach. Xue Chenxin’s body trembled in fear, but he couldn’t speak or beg for mercy; he could only stare wide-eyed as tears streamed down.
He wanted to escape, but his arms couldn’t move and his legs hurt terribly; even the slightest squirming motion made his face contort.
It was over. It was completely over.
Xin Lan picked a spot and plunged the knife in.
Instead of pulling the blade out quickly, she deliberately twisted the tip inside the wound a few times.
Under the light, Xin Lan’s profile was cold, and the slight curl of her lips carried a spine-chilling eeriness.
Xin Lan deliberately avoided spots that would cause him to quickly bleed to death, driving the knife into Xue Chenxin’s chest stab by stab.
“Do you feel despair?”
Xin Lan said with a smile. The original owner of her body had once been just as desperate.
Unable to speak, Xue Chenxin stared blankly at the ceiling with lifeless eyes.
His body seemed to be growing colder.
Resentment filled his heart as he stared deathly in Xin Lan’s direction.
Xin Lan put on an expression of realization, leaning a bit closer to him.
“How could I have forgotten about this place? Good thing you reminded me.”
Xin Lan’s blade landed on Xue Chenxin’s eyelid, feeling the eyeball underneath moving uneasily.
Xin Lan didn’t hesitate. Even though Xue Chenxin closed his eyes, she sliced them open by force and gouged out the eyeball inside.
The eyeball rolled onto the ground, and she crushed it flat without mercy.
Xu Deng had long been scared speechless by this brutality, trying her best to shrink into the corner to minimize her presence.
She decided to keep quiet and just silently cling to this giant thigh.
Zero Nine had already developed immunity to such bloody scenes. Clutching her throw pillow, she watched with quite a bit of excitement.
If only she had some potato chips. But systems were forbidden from bringing food into missions; otherwise, eating potato chips and cracking melon seeds in the host’s mind would absolutely get her reported.
“Savor the feeling here. Dying in a girls’ restroom is quite an honor for you, isn’t it?”
Xin Lan patted Xue Chenxin’s face with the tip of the blade, wiped the blood off the knife onto his clothes, folded the pocketknife shut, and put it back in her pocket.
Xue Chenxin’s eye socket was hollow, his abdomen and legs covered in stab wounds. As more and more blood flowed, his body grew colder and colder.
He would die here, and no one would come to save him.
He could never understand why he was being treated this way.
With her hands in her pockets, Xin Lan took the clue fragments from his body and leisurely strolled out.
Following closely behind, Xu Deng stared at her cool, elegant back, and for some reason, her mind supplied an epic BGM.

Ahhhhh, my hairline is receding! My hair loss is getting worse and worse! Help!
