Ex-Girlfriend – Chapter 105

Life and Death Examination Room 12
Examination God
A damp sensation spread across her neck, feeling quite strange.
The sensation was too unfamiliar. Xin Lan frowned slightly, leaning into Wan Yan’s embrace, thoughts adrift in her eyes1.
She didn’t dislike the feeling; there was even a faint sense of excitement.
Making her dizzy, making her tremble, making her excited…
Wait!
“Something’s not right.”
Xin Lan furrowed her brows, a blush creeping onto her fair face.
“What’s wrong?”
Wan Yan raised a hand to wipe the dampness from Xin Lan’s neck, asking in a low voice. Her expression showed little change, but inwardly she was practically exploding with hype2.
So happy. Seeing Little Tiger in a maid outfit, getting to kiss, lick, and hug—all satisfied at once!
“My body feels a bit strange, but the reaction isn’t intense. Are you okay?”
Xin Lan steadied herself, placing a hand on the railing.
“I’m fine.” Wan Yan licked her teeth thoughtfully.
Her fangs probably hadn’t retracted yet because the time wasn’t up.
She had thought these teeth were just for show, but unexpectedly, they actually had some practical effect?
She remembered that vampires, to prevent their prey from struggling, would inject something into their bodies while feeding, making them go limp and experience a certain pleasure. So, Xin Lan was…
However, Xin Lan kept her head lowered, so Wan Yan couldn’t see her expression. She had never seen that kind of look on her face before; just imagining it was almost unbearable.
And she knew Xin Lan definitely wouldn’t want her to see it, so she simply stayed by her side in silence.
After a minute or two, Xin Lan lifted her head, her expression back to normal, and checked the clock.
“There’s still an hour and a half left.” Half the time remained. Besides them, only one other person was still alive.
The girl who had just sold out her classmate was already breathless on the floor. Her eyes were wide open, her face filled with unwillingness and terror.
Someone walked past and kicked her; her head rolled across the ground with a clatter, while the rest of her body had already been gnawed clean.
A creaking sound echoed from the stairs. Xin Lan looked over and saw the master of the ancient castle.
He looked gaunt and skinny. It was impossible to tell what material his shoes were made of, but they made noise when they touched the steps.
“Alice…” His nose twitched, and he grinned at Xin Lan. “Come here, my lovely child.”
Xin Lan remained wary inwardly but walked over.
“Follow me.” He smiled, heading upstairs.
Wan Yan felt uneasy and took a step forward.
“Guest, please continue enjoying the evening party.” The castle master turned his head and smiled at Wan Yan.
His face was pale and gaunt, but his head was enormous, supported by a thin neck that looked like it might snap off at any moment.
Xin Lan made a gesture to Wan Yan, reassuring her that she could handle it. If any unexpected situation arose, she could contact Ling Jiu at any time.
The creaking sound continued from the stairs. Xin Lan knew danger surely awaited ahead and was already on high alert.
She reached the room she had been in before. The castle master placed his black formal hat on the coat rack and stroked the woman in the portrait. The eyes of the woman in the portrait moved, as if responding.
“Actually, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen such fresh human prey. Your blood smells so fragrant, it completely gave you away.” He chuckled strangely and suddenly lunged at Xin Lan.
He was very tall, a full two meters3, and when standing, seemed to loom over people like a dark cloud. However, his height made his movements somewhat slow, allowing Xin Lan to dodge nimbly.
The room’s door slammed shut violently, as if blown by the wind, or perhaps pushed by some unknown force.
He cackled eerily, seemingly convinced Xin Lan couldn’t escape his grasp.
Xin Lan didn’t just evade passively. Using an obstacle to launch herself, she kicked him squarely in the chest.
His body swayed, but he seemed largely unharmed.
“Give up struggling. Be good and become my food.”
Xin Lan attacked again but found it difficult to knock him down. She had clearly used her full strength—enough to kill an ordinary person with one kick—but this being merely swayed slightly.
If this was an exam, then there had to be a way to pass. These monsters had such high combat power4, and the other examinees with her, aside from Wan Yan, were just ordinary people.
Entering this kind of exam, wouldn’t that mean certain death? That BUG definitely wouldn’t set it up like this.
The other dangers previously encountered in the castle, like the woman in the portrait or that hand, didn’t need to be fought; they would dissipate as soon as someone else grabbed them. Therefore, as long as companions stuck together, many other dangers could largely be avoided. So, there must also be a way to deal with the threat of this kind of NPC.
Xin Lan thought of the privilege on her card and silently activated it. Her hands and teeth underwent a transformation; her hands turned into wolf-like claws, the long, sharp nails glinting coldly in the light.
Xin Lan attacked again, tearing through the castle master’s arm with a swipe of her claws. It worked, as expected.
This thing couldn’t possibly be just for show. If it were purely decorative, she wouldn’t have felt that sensation when Wan Yan bit her.
【Host, do you require Commander to come and assist? 】
“Not needed. I alone am enough.”
The card stated not to let the NPC discover her identity. She had already been discovered, yet she wasn’t eliminated. That meant there was another possibility: make the NPC die.
Don’t let the NPC discover your identity—if the NPC is dead, doesn’t that count as not being discovered? The so-called rules hid many underlying meanings that one had to dig out for oneself.
Her wolf claws were sharp enough, her movements agile. She stepped onto the wall, leaving a footprint behind.
The castle master was tall, his movements slightly clumsy. Now injured and kicked into a half-kneeling position by Xin Lan, he became thoroughly enraged.
“Luxiu!” he yelled, opening the inner door.
Luxiu heard its master’s summons and let out an excited roar.
It rushed out eagerly from the wooden door. Only then did Xin Lan get a clear view of its full appearance. Luxiu was a black, strange beast with green eyes, looking majestic and imposing.
Its teeth were sharp and pointed, its mouth open, drool dripping onto the floor.
“Luxiu! Bite her to death!” The castle master issued the command, waiting for his beloved beast to execute it, only to see Luxiu’s legs trembling as it retreated back into the room.
“Luxiu! What are you doing? Attack!” He was somewhat annoyed and roared angrily.
Luxiu let out a whimpering sound, looking very reluctant.
Xin Lan straightened up and let out a scoffing laugh. This creature had just recently been taught a lesson by her, pinned down and pummeled; it probably still remembered.
Seeing he couldn’t rely on it, the castle master retreated to the side, his expression dark.
Drip—dok
Xin Lan seemed to hear this somewhat familiar sound and moved aside.
Drops of red blood dripped onto the floor, flowing into the cracks.
Xin Lan remembered seeing a similar situation before in that classmate’s room. The ceiling was covered in bloodstains, still fluid, emitting a foul, metallic stench.
Xin Lan looked up, while also warily watching the castle master’s direction.
Her fingers were faintly burning, seemingly reminding her that the usage time for this privilege was running out.
Xin Lan didn’t hesitate, rushing towards the castle master. One swipe of her claw only broke the skin; there was no blood.
She had just discovered that this person seemed to be only skin, without flesh and blood beneath.
The castle master’s body swayed. Using a desk of equal height for leverage, Xin Lan twisted and broke his neck.
Unexpectedly, however, the half-severed head tilted precariously and fell straight to the ground.
At that moment, the privilege vanished; the claws and fangs disappeared.
The headless body, its frame like a pile of stacked bones, collapsed with a crash.
The enormous head gradually turned to dust, and even the body vanished without a trace.
Xin Lan wasn’t sure if this was an NPC’s disguise or the state after an NPC’s death. Given that she hadn’t been judged as failing the exam, it should be the latter.
Drip—dok. The sound grew louder.
While Xin Lan had been making her move, the blood dripping from the ceiling hadn’t stopped; instead, it dripped faster and faster, even pooling in one area and spreading outwards.
Xin Lan had a bad feeling. She tried to open the door but found it shut tight.
The blood flowed faster and faster across the floor, then suddenly surged towards Xin Lan.
“What disgusting thing is this?”
Xin Lan kicked the door, causing it to dent slightly.
The blood on the floor increased. Luxiu also seemed very uneasy about this thing and ran back into the place it usually stayed.
From within the surging blood, a blood-red tentacle suddenly shot out, grabbing towards Xin Lan.
Xin Lan dodged, but more and more tentacles emerged from the blood.
One wrapped around Xin Lan’s hand. She tried to pull it off but only felt blood, her hand passing right through it.
The icy blood was sticky, and the thing wrapped around her hand began to pull.
The blood seemed mildly corrosive, melting parts of the clothes she wore.
It was originally a black and white lace maid outfit, but now many holes had appeared.
Xin Lan had Ling Jiu get Wan Yan. As expected, this was one of the other hazards in the castle—easy to handle with a companion, but difficult to deal with alone.
The blood vines multiplied, entangling her hands and feet.
She still had her strength, but trying to pull them apart or tear them was impossible because they were like liquid, and liquid cannot be broken.
When Wan Yan managed to open the door from the outside, this was the bizarre scene she witnessed.
Blood-red tentacles coiled around Xin Lan, her fair skin visible through the damaged parts of her clothing. If it weren’t for the wrong time, wrong place, and everything else being wrong, there was actually a strange sense of eroticism.
Wan Yan didn’t dwell on it. She went over and grasped the blood vines. The instant she intended to pull, the ‘drip-dok’ sound stopped.
The blood on the floor and ceiling vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed.
Xin Lan stood there, feeling drafts on her arms and back5.
The thigh-high stockings she wore were almost completely corroded. Her face was cold, her mood foul.
Fortunately, not too much was exposed—just the sleeves and back, with only a few small tears on the front.
“I got delayed just now; I should have come faster. I made a discovery.”
“If the NPC is killed, it doesn’t count as being discovered?”
“Exactly.” Wan Yan snapped her fingers. On her way up, she had also dealt with6 a troublesome NPC.
Xin Lan looked up, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly.
Their eyes met, full of tacit understanding.
