    BUG

Life and Death Examination Room 11

    Examination God

After the woman was pulled away, her figure dissipated into the air.

The woman’s figure reappeared on the blank scroll; she held a small parasol, her gaze fixed on the distance.

    “Are you alright?”

Wan Yan grasped Xin Lan’s hand.

“I’m fine. I was suddenly frozen by her just now, but then I could move again.”

Xin Lan shook her head, glancing at Wan Yan’s hand.

Wan Yan told Xin Lan the news she had just learned. Xin Lan nodded.

“I saw two classmates1 just now, identities unclear, and there’s one I haven’t seen.”

    “Be careful.”

Besides those NPCs, there were many other dangers in this old castle.

For example, Lu Xiu, for example, the woman in the painting.

    “Go downstairs?”

    “Okay.”

Some guests had already taken seats one after another at the long table on the first floor. Xin Lan and Wan Yan went downstairs. When they were on the second floor, they suddenly heard a scream.

When Bai Ling2 opened her eyes, she looked over the card.

She was in a room. Directly opposite hung a painting, mostly blank, with a hand painted in the center.

It was a woman’s hand, fair, slender, with red nail polish.

Bai Ling didn’t dare look too long and looked elsewhere.

She didn’t open the door, instead checking the room first.

Luxurious furnishings, just like she had seen on TV.

She opened the door and looked down from upstairs.

Busy servants, the NPC names appeared above their heads.

She watched for a while, then returned to her room.

She checked the room meticulously, then sat on the bed to wait.

    Drip—tap.

The sound of dripping water came from somewhere unknown. Bai Ling watched the window warily.

    Drip—tap.

It seemed to be getting clearer.

    Was it raining?

    Drip-tap, drip-tap.

The dripping speed was getting faster and faster.

Bai Ling didn’t court death3 by opening the window, but sat on the bed, slowly backing away.

Something cold and sticky seemed to cling to her face. She abruptly looked up and subconsciously let out a scream.

The ceiling was covered in bloodstains, dripping down drop by drop.

After screaming, she clamped her mouth shut, terrified of attracting some NPC.

Suddenly, something forcefully covered her mouth.

Xin Lan and Wan Yan stood at the doorway. Xin Lan knocked on the door.

No one answered from inside. Xin Lan opened the door.

The situation inside was somewhat horrifying; the floor was covered in bloodstains, and a woman was spinning around non-stop.

Xin Lan looked closely and only then saw a hand clamped over her mouth and nose.

It was a woman’s hand, painted with red nail polish.

Bai Ling stretched out her hand, casting a pleading look towards Xin Lan and Wan Yan.

No name above her head, looked like she was the last classmate.

“Don’t move yet, we’ll handle it.”

Xin Lan walked into the room. That woman nodded and stood obediently still.

The moment Xin Lan touched the hand, before she even applied force, the hand suddenly dissipated. In the picture frame on the wall, a woman’s hand had been added.

“Thank you, my name is Bai Ling, and you are?”

    “Xin Lan, Wan Yan.”

“Is your mission to survive for three hours?”

    “Mhm.”

Xin Lan and Wan Yan nodded, their two differently beautiful faces sharing a coldness cast from the same mold4.

    “What are your identities?”

    “Werewolf.”

    “Vampire.”

    Werewolf and vampire, famous adversaries.

    “I’m Fox Clan.”

Bai Ling remembered the description on her card, somewhat embarrassed to say it5.

Xin Lan nodded. Nothing else to do here, time to go.

Xin Lan turned, and Wan Yan left too.

Classmate affection, sticking together6 and whatnot, didn’t exist.

Wan Yan felt sticking with Xin Lan was necessary, but sticking with others could be forgotten.

Xin Lan went downstairs; Wan Yan didn’t go with her.

A vampire and a werewolf hanging out together, getting along quite well—waiting to be exposed by the NPCs?

As soon as Xin Lan got downstairs, Kasha shoved a handful of flowers at her, telling her to go adjust the flowers on the dining table, making sure they were fresh and dewy.

Xin Lan walked over holding the flowers and saw a blond young man approach.

The young man had some small freckles on his face and looked at Xin Lan rather shyly.

“Alice, Happy New Year, you look very beautiful tonight.”

    “……”

Xin Lan maintained a deadpan face, not wanting to speak.

She didn’t even want to complain7 about this BUG’s New Year’s welcome party anymore—forget the werewolves and vampires stewed in one pot8, there was also some Fox Clan, and among the guests were elves and dwarves—what kind of ghost9 of New Year were they celebrating, they even had Mandarin songs10 playing at the entrance.

The young man didn’t seem surprised by her reaction, still looking at her tenderly.

A certain fake vampire with excellent eyesight upstairs wanted to hit someone, coldly watching the direction below.

Xin Lan sensed this gaze somewhat and looked up to see Wan Yan’s smiling face.

Xin Lan was changing the flowers below, but the corner of her eye caught someone approaching Wan Yan.

Shouldn’t be a problem, Xin Lan thought.

But she still couldn’t help glancing over with the corner of her eye, paying attention to the activity over there.

Wan Yan looked at the Blood Clan11 member in front of her and the wine glass in her hand, offered a couple of perfunctory greetings, and took the glass.

The smell in the cup was fishy and rank; undoubtedly blood.

“It’s not very fresh blood, Daphne12, please don’t mind.”

That person held her wine glass, smiling, and raised it to Wan Yan.

Wan Yan tilted the glass, pressing her lips together without letting the blood enter, making it look as if she had taken a sip.

“Actually, among these servants, there are some quite good ones. That young girl holding the flowers is quite good. But I inquired a bit, seems she’s a werewolf. I haven’t sucked werewolf blood before, heard it has a kind of dog taste, very unpleasant, but I’m very curious about her taste.”

The female Blood Clan member’s gaze landed on Xin Lan with keen interest.

    Curious my f%cking ass?13

    Sexy Commander, cursing online.

Wan Yan was very upset, truly very upset.

As a rigorous system, she was extremely straightforward14 when it came to romance and flirting, basically only knowing how to hit straight balls15. Encountering another piece of steel, she didn’t even know how to flirt properly.

Finally getting along in a mission world, and these NPCs were planning to snatch her away one by one?

Did they not want to get by anymore?

“I think you’d better put away your excessive curiosity.”

Wan Yan’s gaze was extremely oppressive. The Blood Clan member opposite her gave a somewhat forced smile.

“Daphne, you’ve taken a fancy to her too?”

    “She will naturally be mine.”

    Definitely not yours, anyway.

“Alright then, you’d better keep a close eye on her.”

The female Blood Clan member spread her hands, took her wine glass, and went down to chat with others.

When the bell rang, all the guests were seated.

The master of the old castle also sat in the main seat.

It was a tall, thin man who looked rather strange.

He was very thin, almost skin and bones, about two meters tall, wearing oversized leather shoes that made ‘creak creak’ sounds when he walked.

He laughed twice, his voice strange and hoarse.

“Welcome everyone to my welcome party. Tonight, we will have five special guests. They are hidden among all of us, five tender and juicy humans. Whoever catches one will have the right to possess them.”

The guests cheered, the joyous sounds seeming about to lift the roof off.

The few examinees mixed in among them practically turned pale, their legs weak.

Xin Lan remained calmly to the side, calculating how much longer was needed.

This three-hour banquet was truly too long for some people.

Someone somehow revealed their horse’s hoof16. When Xin Lan saw it, it was one hour into the banquet. A person was entangled by a half-human half-snake creature, crying and stating their race.

That was also a girl in a maid outfit, with two furry ears on her head.

“Guest, I really am just Rat Clan, not human, guest please let me go…”

The girl seemed terrified, her two small round ears trembling.

This was an examinee who had used a privilege, but it seemed it wasn’t very effective.

“What does it matter if you’re not human? I love eating little things like you the most. Shh.”

The creature’s snake tail coiled around the person, its lips suddenly gaped wide, and it swallowed half her head in one bite.

The scene was extremely horrifying. By the time the creature spit the head out, half of the person’s face was almost gone.

Blood flowed down, looking grotesque and miserable.

One of the five examinees died just like that.

One and a half hours into the banquet, another examinee was discovered.

She was surrounded by several bizarrely shaped people. Even revealing her own monster17 features was useless.

There are always people who think, ‘If I die, I’ll drag someone down to hell with me.’ As that person was surrounded, she pointed in one direction and shouted.

    “Them, they are humans too!”

Everyone’s gaze shifted, seeing a pair pressed closely together.

The red-eyed, black-haired vampire was burying her head in the neck of the person in the maid outfit. Hearing the sound, she looked up, annoyed.

Her fangs were sharp, her eyes filled with impatience.

The person being bitten leaned weakly against the railing, buried in the vampire’s embrace.

“Your prey talks so much, disturbing one’s meal.”

Others laughed mockingly, only the castle master narrowed his eyes.

“Daphne, is the servant’s blood to your taste?”

His voice was hoarse, yet very clear amidst the clamor.

“Werewolf blood really does have this strange taste, tsk, but her taste is still acceptable. Better than what Charlotte18 served me, anyway.”

Wan Yan naturally picked up the conversation, frowning as if dissatisfied.

“My apologies for the neglect. I wish you successful hunting tonight.”

The castle master revealed a smile, looking rather peculiar.

Back when that person sold out her teammate, Wan Yan had already summoned the fang privilege. To make the effect realistic, Wan Yan had even truly bitten down.

These fangs seemed purely decorative, not biting very deep, nor having any blood-sucking function.

Xin Lan cooperated fully, leaning into Wan Yan’s embrace. She had known early on that the prerequisite for passing the test was not being discovered by NPCs, rather than just staying alive.

Wan Yan hadn’t thought too much when biting, only worrying about whether Xin Lan would feel pain.

After fooling those NPCs, Wan Yan still had to lower her head and finish acting out the scene.

To ensure the conversation was secure, even face-to-face, Wan Yan didn’t speak directly but relayed through Ling Jiu.

【Host, Commander says, the castle master might be getting suspicious, you two need to be careful.】

    Okay.

【Host, Commander says, it seems you drew blood when she bit you.】

    It’s fine.

【Host, Commander asks, can she help you take care of it?】

    Okay.

Aaaaaahhhhh! Is being in love so great! You’re not even in love this time!

Ling Jiu, forced to be a mouthpiece19, felt thoroughly wronged.

When she saw how Wan Yan helped Xin Lan deal with the wound, she directly ascended on the spot and exploded into fireworks.

Wan Yan lowered her head, burying it in Xin Lan’s neck. Where the wound had beaded with blood, Wan Yan extended the tip of her tongue, licking and sucking each drop.
