The Princess’ Shadow Guard – Chapter 36

Ah Qin is so slow, I’m so cold

It’s been roughly a month since departing from the capital city. The farther north they traveled, the colder and more desolate it became. Several times, as dusk approached, Ming Qin couldn’t find an inn, forcing her and Murong Yan to rough it out, camping in the woods.

The sturdy horse, capable of enduring hardship, quietly munched on frost-covered wild grass outside the carriage.

Meanwhile, Ming Qin chewed on the dried meat she had prepared earlier and busied herself with starting a fire to boil water. The silent forest echoed with the sounds of clinking chains.

Feeling a tugging at her neck, Ming Qin unlatched the not-so-tightly shut door and asked the woman inside in a gentle voice, “Are you full?”

The woman wrapped in a fox fur nodded and extended her hand with the half-eaten bun towards Ming Qin, “Ah Qin, you eat.”

Blocking the hand attempting to feed her, Ming Qin gestured to her belly and said, “I’ve already eaten.”

“If Ah Qin doesn’t eat, then next time I will eat the same food as Ah Qin,” the woman insisted, stretching her arm to feed Ming Qin the bun held in her hand.

The hurriedly made jerky was tough and rough—how could Ming Qin bear to let Murong Yan eat the same as herself? She had no choice but to reluctantly eat the food from her hand.

Before closing the carriage door, Ming Qin said with her cheeks puffed and her words muffled, “The water is almost ready, I’ll bring in the hot water for you in a moment.”

Murong Yan covered her mouth, nodding her head while trying to suppress the itching in her throat.

Silently, she undid the clothing on her upper body, her figure illuminated by the dim carriage oil lamp. Once charming and shapely, her body was now overly slender. However, her skin remained pale and creamy, like coagulated cream.

Upon opening the door, Ming Qin came in holding a basin with hot water, her eyes shifting uneasily as she looked at the person inside the carriage.

Murong Yan appeared composed, but her face, obscured by shadows, was indiscernible. She simply extended her hand to the person before her, allowing her to support her as she laid a waterproof oilcloth beneath herself for moisture protection.

After laying Murong Yan down, the shadow guard knelt down, looking at the woman’s knees, intent on unbuckling the straps that secured the prosthesis.

But facing Murong Yan of such standing, in the cramped confines of the carriage, Ming Qin always felt an inexplicable nervousness.

Her gaze steadfastly on her hands, she stiffened her neck, daring not to let it stray—whether it be to Murong Yan’s delicate and flat stomach above, the smooth softness in front of her, or that profound garden within her field of vision, any would stir unrest in her typically tranquil heart.

Forced to concentrate on the task at hand, she nevertheless became more clumsy, struggling to detach the prosthetic, which only made Ming Qin break into an anxious sweat.

Murong Yan felt the breath of the person in front of her hitting the skin of her lower body. She tried to suppress the rising urge to cough and tugged heavily at the chain in her hand, compelling Ming Qin to look up.

The kneeling figure tilted her head slightly, her expression one of panic, and her eyes fluttering erratically, unable to fixate.

Suppressing a smile and hiding the playful thoughts in her heart, Murong Yan stared directly at Ming Qin, forcing her to meet her gaze and then pretending to be aggrieved, she said, “Ah Qin is so slow, I’m so cold.”

“I’m… I’m sorry,” Ming Qin hurriedly apologized, pulling the blanket over the woman to cover her but found herself unable to untie the binding with her other hand no matter how hard she tried.

“Is Ah Qin so slow at this because you don’t want to see my wound?” Holding the iron chain that symbolized tame submission, Murong Yan suddenly asked with a mischievous undertone.

“No, not at all! How could I possibly?” Ming Qin’s face flushed red as she tried to explain, but her words became even more jumbled as she looked up at the snow-white skin of the person before her.

Even though she was well aware that the answer would never change no matter how many thousands, or thousands of tens of thousands of times she asked, Murong Yan felt a subtle satisfaction deep inside seeing the woman beneath her frantically trying to prove her innocence, yet still feigned sadness in her voice as she asked, “Is that really so? If you don’t despise me, then why suddenly can’t Ah Qin untie it?”

“I… I truly don’t,” Ming Qin said flusteredly, looking at the saddened Murong Yan, her words stumbling out awkwardly, but she truly didn’t know how to explain the uncontrollably inappropriately roguish thoughts running through her own mind.

In her fluster, Ming Qin wasn’t careful with her movements, and with a snap, she accidentally broke the belt with too much force, causing the prosthetic that had been difficult to remove to fall off.

The young shadow guard who had done wrong was a bit panicked, looking up at the woman’s face which seemed on the verge of tears, feeling both ashamed and guilty.

As if truly trying to prove herself, Ming Qin took a breath, reached out to grasp Murong Yan’s wrist, lowered her head, and gently pressed against the stump of the woman’s right leg. She lingered on the skin that was somewat red and chafed.

“I don’t.”

After a moment, Ming Qin raised her eyes, the wisps of hair on her forehead slightly hiding her gaze, casting a shadow that made her usually bright eyes vaguely dim, yet her tone remained extremely aggrieved.

“I really don’t despise you, don’t cry.”

At the moment Murong Yan’s stump was touched by the lips, she felt a strange sensation surge from her right knee all the way up her spine, causing her body under the covers to involuntarily curl up, her heart trembling.

“Ah… Ah Qin?” Feeling utterly weak, the woman called out with her eyelashes trembling up and down, “Ah Qin, what are you doing?”

(If you're not reading on littlepandatranslations.com, it means this has been stolen)

Ming Qin pressed her lips against Murong Yan’s right knee again, tilting her head as she thought, then emitted a muffled sound from her throat, “Rewarding?”

As her fingertips lightly came together again, she asked, “Don’t like it?”

“There’s nothing I don’t like,” Murong Yan’s pale skin flushed with a hint of pink, her hand under the blanket gripping the chain tightened, “But…”

“Then should I not reward Yanyan?” Ming Qin obediently retreated and got up, her intertwined hand also loosening accordingly.

“Don’t go!” Feeling the pulsating sensation that was about to fade away throughout her body, Murong Yan abruptly clutched at the shadow guard’s wrist and shouted, “I like it, I want Ah Qin to continue.”

Kneeling down once more, Ming Qin obediently listened to the woman’s ensuing words.

“But Ah Qin mustn’t look, and before I say it’s okay, no matter what happens, you mustn’t speak, understand?”

“Understood.”

Ming Qin untied the belt that secured her robe and, with her eyes covered, tied a knot tightly around her head. Kneeling devoutly, the iron lock hanging from her neck jingled softly upon impact.

The person beneath her faithfully carried out orders, and this Murong Yan struggled to maintain composure. Despite biting down hard, broken sounds still inadvertently spilled from the corners of her mouth.

She lifted her left foot onto Ming Qin’s shoulder, her toes curling tightly, causing the shadow guard’s loosely draped robe to slip from her shoulders.

Witnessing the kneeling figure’s focused and sincere expression, beneath the blanket, Murong Yan’s fingers wrapped with a leather cord involuntarily stroked the blood-filled, bright red, dewy, and imminent fall.

The carriage warmed like the transition from winter to spring, with the faint glow of the oil lamp flickering, filled with the fragrance of flowers and nectar.

Waves were building up, and the oriole sang incessantly, mingling with the sounds of clashing chains that hung, growing ever more fervent.

Submerged, Murong Yan lifted her head, gasping for breath as if on the brink of drowning.

Drops of water formed a river, overflowing into disaster.

With the last cry, her foot uncontrollably curled, pulling Ming Qin forcefully toward herself, followed by a series of convulsions.

Feeling a touch of dampness on her cheek, Ming Qin unconsciously licked her lips, hesitating with some worry as she contemplated whether to remove the blindfold.

“… No!”

Murong Yan, still gasping for breath with the lingering sensations not yet dissipated, trembles and reaches out to have Ming Qin catch her, then falls from the chair into her embrace.

Ming Qin supports her, remaining obediently silent without asking questions, just quietly waiting for the woman in her arms to catch her breath.

The stream still babbles on.

The sensation of wet clothing is transmitted to Ming Qin’s slender waist as she gently strokes Murong Yan’s delicate back, feeling the prominent spine, and waits patiently.

Accustomed to bowing and obeying orders, the shadow guard wasn’t curious about what the woman had done.

Yet deep within, the body trembling slightly because of her, and the warmth and affection conveyed when her name was called out from the mouth of Murong Yan, stirred something passionately within Ming Qin’s heart.

It was as if Murong Yan’s happiness because of her was a matter worthy of ecstatic celebration.

After a while, the panting by her ear gradually subsided, followed by a low murmur, “Ah Qin, it’s enough.”

“The reward, is sufficient.”

Ming Qin removed the blindfold from her waist, looking at the drenched Murong Yan before her. She gently brushed the strands of hair sticking to Murong Yan’s forehead and said, “You’ve sweated a lot. The water has cooled down; shall I heat it up a bit more before you continue your bath?”

Burying her head in Ming Qin’s shoulder, Murong Yan still felt weak, even after catching her breath.

“Okay, as long as it’s you, Ah Qin, it’s all good.”

The author has something to say:

It’s been completely deleted… (Darn it!)

Oh well, the next chapter is a bit longer, so everyone can have a more enjoyable read.
