Top-Tier Omega: Chasing Alpha to the Crematorium – Chapter 8
by Little PandaDon’t Play Dumb, Soothe Me
Not long after Song Qingpei returned to the Rest Cabin, Lieutenant Lin brought Song Song back.
She couldn’t help but be surprised. Ming Yu had used both threats and promises to take Song Song away for some one-on-one time. Why was she sending her back so quickly?
“Where’s your Mommy?”
The question seemed directed at Song Song, but it was really for Lieutenant Lin.
Lieutenant Lin immediately explained, “Miss Song, the Admiral has gone to a military conference. The ‘Feiyun’ will be docking at Planet Lan in three hours. You can pack your things first.”
Song Qingpei said nothing, but she was complaining inwardly.
Wasn’t it obvious how she had been ‘invited’ onto the ‘Feiyun’? She hadn’t had time to grab anything. Even the change of clothes she had was a new military uniform Lieutenant Lin had given her to make do.
Seeing her complicated expression, Lieutenant Lin also realized her gaffe and tried to salvage the situation awkwardly. “Well, seeing as you didn’t get much rest in the Confinement Bay, perhaps you should rest for a bit.”
The conversation died again. Embarrassed, Lieutenant Lin made an excuse and slipped away.
Song Qingpei was indeed exhausted, so she took the opportunity to hold her daughter and take a short nap. She didn’t expect to sleep all the way to their destination.
The ‘Feiyun’ Starship only made a brief stop at Planet Lan.
Song Qingpei was woken up by Lieutenant Lin. Dazed, she took her daughter and disembarked from the starship. After nearly three more hours of travel, Lieutenant Lin finally brought them to a spectacular Chinese-style manor.
Outside the manor, over a dozen people in uniform were already standing at the entrance to welcome them.
She was instantly stunned. The scene was truly intimidating.
Lieutenant Lin introduced, “Miss Song, this is the Admiral’s home. You and Miss Song Song can stay here for now. The Admiral has gone to attend a military conference on Planet Lan and will be back later.”
“Okay, I understand.”
Song Qingpei gently patted Song Song to wake her. Song Song blinked her eyes. “Nghβ¦ Mama, where is this?”
“This is Songsong’s new home. Come on, get down and have a look.”
Songsong’s new home, not ours. Luckily, Song Song was still young and didn’t notice the distinction.
She immediately sat up excitedly, curiously observing everything outside.
Lieutenant Lin had already opened the car door. Song Qingpei got out, holding Song Song. The dozen or so people in uniform bowed in unison. “Welcome home, Young Miss.”
Song Song fully displayed her true colors as a social butterfly,1 waving and greeting them in a sweet, childish voice, “Hewwo~”
A man of about forty, dressed in a black tuxedo, stepped out from among the gray-uniformed staff. He said respectfully, “Miss Song, hello. I am the butler of Shanshui Manor. You may call me Butler Su. I have prepared your and the Young Miss’s rooms as per the Admiral’s instructions. Would you prefer to rest in your rooms first, or would you like a tour?”
Song Song’s face lit up with excitement. “Mama, let’s go playβ”
Before she could finish, Song Qingpei clapped a hand over her mouth. She stared up at her mother with innocent eyes, seemingly unable to understand why she wasn’t allowed to speak. But Song Qingpei, being new here and unfamiliar with everything, didn’t want to cause any trouble.
She smiled at Butler Su. “We’ll just go to our rooms first. Thank you for your trouble, Butler Su.”
After bidding farewell to Lieutenant Lin, Song Qingpei took Song Song’s hand and followed Butler Su into the manor, with the dozen staff who had come out to greet them trailing behind. It was incredibly awkward.
As they walked, they were surrounded by a picturesque landscape of mountains and water, pavilions and terraces, rockeries and small bridges, with flowers and trees flourishing everywhere. It was a breathtaking sight.
She had only ever seen places like this online. To finally experience it in person today was so real it was astounding, but it also made her recognize, once again, the chasm between them.
Song Song’s eyes were wide, darting from one thing to the next, her mouth constantly letting out gasps of admiration.
“Wow! It’s so pretty!”
“Mama, look, there are swans over there!”
“Mama, Mama, look⦔
Song Qingpei’s mood grew more complex, laughing bitterly to herself as her feelings of inferiority deepened.
Butler Su remained silent the entire way. After leading them to their living quarters on the second floor, he explained, “Miss Song, this entire floor belongs to the Young Miss. It includes a cloakroom, a study, a piano room, and a game room, among others. Please take the Young Miss to have a look. If there is anything you are not satisfied with, please let me know, and I will have it improved.”
Song Qingpei was speechless.
How could she possibly be unsatisfied? She wouldn’t even dare to dream of something like this.
Whether intentional or not, Ming Yu had certainly given her a huge dismounting show of might, making her clearly understand the difference in the material conditions they could each provide for their daughter. If she were still heartless enough to take her daughter away, the guilt alone would drown her.
After Butler Su left, Song Qingpei was completely crestfallen.
But she could only force a smile, unwilling to let her daughter notice and spoil her excitement in exploring her new home.
As Butler Su had said, the entire second floor was frighteningly large. Before they had even seen all the rooms, Song Song was captivated by the game room. She dove inside and couldn’t be pulled out, so Song Qingpei could only resign herself to playing with her.
Dinner was sent up by Butler Su’s staff. After eating, they continued to play until the little one was finally too tired. She fell asleep draped over the neck of an interactive robot, still muttering, “I’ll definitelyβ¦ win against you⦔
Song Qingpei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She carefully carried her daughter back to the bedroom and placed her on the bed. Only then did she finally relax completely. The day had been utterly exhausting.
The moment her head touched the soft bed, she couldn’t help but fall asleep.
β¦β¦.
Ming Yu returned at one in the morning. When she learned that Song Qingpei was sleeping on the second floor, she went straight up.
Her heat had arrived. The feverish waves were surging, more intense than ever before.
But unlike previous times when she had to forcefully resist with inhibitors, thanks to Song Qingpei’s earlier soothing, she didn’t feel any particular pain now. It was just a light, itchy heat inside her, like a feather brushing against the tip of her heart, causing a faint desire to rise within her. It grew from faint to strong, gradually suffusing her entire body.
It was as if her body, having already savored that ultimate pleasure, was no longer willing to use self-torturous methods to resolve this instinctual craving. It urgently needed a more intense pleasure to fill the emptiness.
Ming Yu went up to the second floor, her steps light as she pushed open the bedroom door.
On the bed, Song Qingpei was holding Song Song, both fast asleep. The mother and daughter were pressed tightly together, their faces sharing the same tranquil, faint smile, as if they were having a pleasant dream.
She slowly walked forward and stopped by the bed, quietly gazing at the pair.
The scene made Ming Yu feel a little dazed. The memories she had forcibly forgotten came flooding back.
Onceβ¦
It seemed she used to wake up to this very scene every day. Sometimes, that person would even wrap an arm around her waist and say lazily, “Wife, let’s sleep a little longer~” before forcefully pulling her back into her arms. Sometimes, she would shamelessly hold her and steal a few kisses. When she was even more brazen, she would slip a hand into her clothes and do as she pleased.
Ming Yu snapped back to reality and shook her head in annoyance. What am I doing, thinking about this?
Song Qingpei was a despicable, low-grade A. She probably saved her out of greed at first, and later wanted to seize the opportunity to turn her life around. Otherwise, why hadn’t Song Qingpei sent her back when news of her disappearance had spread throughout the galaxy? Not until after she had given birth to a child and regained her own memory.
The moment she had casually said a few words to sever ties, Song Qingpei had taken the child and left without a word. It was hard to say she wasn’t trying to use the child to control her, harboring improper thoughts. And the facts proved it: she was relying on this child to improve her own living conditions.
As for that so-called sliver of sincerityβ¦
She wouldn’t bet on such a minuscule possibility, nor did she need something so illusory.
Song Qingpei was sleeping soundly when she seemed to sense someone staring at her. She woke with a start, her eyes meeting Ming Yu’s gaze, and shot up in bed, terrified.
“Ming Yu!”
Ming Yu concealed the complex emotions in her eyes and said in a hoarse voice, “Get up. You can’t sleep here.”
Still groggy from sleep, Song Qingpei instinctively got up to obey. Halfway through the motion, she realized she was being completely PUA’d by Ming Yu.2 She muttered in annoyance, “Whatβ¦ what are you doing up in the middle of the night?”
“Less nonsense. Come with me.”
Ming Yu turned and walked out.
Song Qingpei was furious but didn’t dare to voice it. Cursing her internally, she had no choice but to follow her, slowly making her way up to the third floor.
“It’s the middle of the night, what on earth do you want⦔
She grumbled in dissatisfaction as she entered the room, but the rest of her words caught in her throat.
Ming Yu had already taken off her military uniform jacket. Her long, slender fingers were unbuttoning her white shirt. Like a slow-motion scene in a movie, as each button came undone, it revealed the fullness of her chest and the smooth, well-defined lines of her abs.
It wasn’t the typical thinness, but a look that was both alluring and powerful.
Song Qingpei instinctively took a step back. With a long stride, Ming Yu closed the distance between them in two steps.
As she approached, a rich wave of Omega pheromones washed over her. A low, husky voice exploded by her ear:
“Don’t play dumb. Soothe me.”
