Top-Tier Omega: Chasing Alpha to the Crematorium – Chapter 5
by Little PandaLock Her in the Confinement Bay!
Even though Song Qingpei had been trying to avoid conflict with Ming Yu, she couldn’t help but explode upon hearing this unreasonable demand.
Is this person insane? This is absolutely ridiculous!
If she tolerated this any further, Ming Yu might actually try to have her gland removed. Even a low-grade A had dignity, damn it.
She couldn’t stop herself from glaring back at Ming Yu, retorting sarcastically, “What does your heat coming early have to do with me? It was clearly your pheromones that seduced mine first. Even if you’re an Admiral, you have to be reasonable!”
Ming Yu clearly hadn’t expected the usually submissive Song Qingpei to dare speak to her like this, especially in front of the military doctor.
A flash of astonishment crossed her eyes, quickly replaced by a blaze of fury. Her chest heaved as she pointed a finger at Song Qingpei. “Song Qingpei, youβ¦ how audacious! Shut up!”
What should have been a threat was tinged with a peevish anger due to the weakness in Ming Yu’s voice.
The bizarre scene left the military doctor standing to the side, stunned. She was terrified the two would say something even more explosive, making the situation more awkward than it already was.
She quickly tried to smooth things over. “Admiral, please calm down. The high-potency inhibitor you were just injected with has serious side effects. You must avoid emotional agitation, or you risk disrupting your pheromones even further. Things will only get more difficult then.”
At her words, a look of deep grief and indignation flashed across Ming Yu’s brow, but in the end, she had no choice but to suppress her anger.
She knew her own body. The inhibitor she’d just received was the most potent one available. If it didn’t work, she couldn’t imagine the consequences.
Seeing that Ming Yu had finally calmed down, the military doctor breathed a sigh of relief. “Admiral, please rest for half an hour. Once the medication takes full effect, we’ll observe the results before making any further arrangements.”
Ming Yu nodded, her face cold. The doctor immediately activated the medical bed’s rest mode. The transparent canopy slid shut, and through it, Song Qingpei could see Ming Yu slowly close her eyes.
Song Qingpei just stood there with a look of utter confusion,1 still having no idea why she had been summoned.
She wanted to ask, but she was afraid the doctor was one of Ming Yu’s people and would simply ignore her.
Just as the silence was becoming awkward, the military doctor finally turned her gaze to Song Qingpei, smiling warmly. “Miss Song, let’s talk in private. There are some things you need to understand.”
Song Qingpei couldn’t have asked for anything better. She followed the doctor into a nearby consultation room.
As they entered, Song Qingpei happened to see the nameplate on the doorβLi Man.
Only twenty-eight years old, yet she was already a Senior Military Doctor. She was a very outstanding Omega; no wonder she was Ming Yu’s personal physician.
“Miss Song, you don’t need to be nervous.”
Li Man smiled reassuringly. “Please, sit. I’m going to show you Admiral Ming’s medical records.”
Song Qingpei sat down, suspicious. Li Man quickly opened the electronic medical record, and its contents were immediately projected onto the screen across from them. A sudden moan assaulted her ears.
“Ngh, ah⦔
It began with an explosively erotic scene. Ming Yu was lying on a medical bed, her face flushed and her eyes full of desire. Her hands were clenched tightly on the bed’s railings, her long, slender neck arched high like a bound swan’s, and low moans occasionally escaped her lips.
Images like this flashed by, frame after frame.
Song Qingpei felt her scalp go numb.2 The⦠the contrast was just too immense!
If she hadn’t experienced it herselfβher amnesiac wife climbing on top of her, softly begging for pleasure, making such alluring sounds when arousedβshe would never have been able to associate this person with the cold and aloof Admiral Ming Yu.
The shock was too much. “Doctor Li,” Song Qingpei said, bewildered, “whatβ¦ what is the meaning of showing me this?”
Li Man just smiled, signaling for her to be patient and keep watching.
Left with no choice, Song Qingpei gritted her teeth and continued to watch.
Facing such risquΓ© images of her former partner was a form of torture. Even though she was classified as a low-grade A, she couldn’t help but feel a stir of arousal. But then she remembered Ming Yu’s gritted-teeth threat to inject her with a high-potency inhibitor, and she resolutely suppressed any leakage of her pheromones.
She sat bolt upright and still,3 her expression grave, as if she were reviewing a rigorous academic paper.
Seeing Song Qingpei’s dead-serious demeanor, even Li Man was shocked. It was rare for an Alpha to remain so calm in the face of such temptation, unless their self-control over their mental strength was exceptionally powerful. But a person like that shouldn’t have been classified as a low-grade Alpha.
Unlessβ¦
The thought of the only other possibility sent a shiver down her spine.
The person before her looked so ordinary. How could she possibly be the person the entire Star Alliance was searching for? Impossible!
Completely unaware of the tumultuous waves crashing in Li Man’s mind, Song Qingpei was simply relieved that the erotic video had finally ended. The rest of the file consisted of treatment records for Ming Yu’s condition and a final summary of therapeutic recommendations.
In short, it all boiled down to this:
After being fully marked, Ming Yu’s pheromones had become abnormally potent, and her heats were particularly sensitive, requiring regular marking from her Alpha partner. For the past two years, however, she had been relying on inhibitors to forcibly suppress her heats. This had caused them to grow increasingly intense while the inhibitors became less and less effective, forcing her to use larger and larger doses, putting her at constant risk of losing control.
This time, Ming Yu’s heat had arrived early. Stimulated by Song Qingpei’s Alpha pheromones, her own pheromones had spiraled completely out of control, resulting in a heat of unprecedented intensity. All of her usual inhibitors had failed.
At Ming Yu’s strong insistence, Li Man had been forced to inject her with a high-potency inhibitor that was still in the experimental stage. Its specific effects, side effects, and the dangers involved were all unknown.
After reading everything, Song Qingpei’s lips parted and closed several times, but for a long while, not a single word came out.
Heh. Ming Yu would rather endure such agony than allow her to touch her. What could she possibly say in the face of such blatant disgust?
Seeing her dejected expression, Li Man felt a pang of sympathy.
But true to her doctor’s heart, she still said, “Miss Song, I know that between you and the Admiralβ¦ there may be some unknown history. But from a medical standpoint, I hope you can talk things through. After all, the Admiral’s pheromones cannot be suppressed by inhibitors for long. It’s only a matter of time before she loses control completely.”
Song Qingpei didn’t understand. What was there for them to talk about?
Ming Yu was so angry she wanted to inject her with inhibitors and had even threatened to carve out her gland. She was nothing but a lamb to the slaughter. If anything at all went wrong with Ming Yu’s pheromones, she would be the one to bear the brunt of the Admiral’s rage.
Shaking with anger, Song Qingpei asked in despair, “Doctor Li, is there really no other way?”
“Not at the moment.”
Li Man shook her head helplessly and explained, “Miss Song, your Alpha pheromones are too potent. The complete mark on the Admiral cannot be artificially removed. As it stands, the Admiral is incapable of accepting a mark from any other Alpha.”
“How is that possible!” Song Qingpei was stunned. “My test results classified me as a low-grade A. My mental strength is extremely weak, and my mark on an Omega is of the lowest grade. I’m not even qualified to pilot a mech.”
Li Man wasn’t surprised to hear this; she had already gotten this information from Ming Yu.
Since she hadn’t met Song Qingpei in person before, she hadn’t been able to draw any concrete conclusions.
Now that the topic was raised again, she thought of her suspicion and, suppressing her excitement, quickly proposed, “Miss Song, test results can sometimes be wrong. How aboutβ¦ I conduct a test for you myself?”
After a moment of thought, Song Qingpei readily agreed.
After all, she also wanted to get things cleared up as soon as possible and draw a clean line between herself and Ming Yu. Who knew how that unreasonable lunatic would vent her anger on her next? If Ming Yu really did carve out her gland in a fit of rage, she wouldn’t even be able to run away for her daughter’s sake.
With her consent, Li Man immediately led her into the testing room.
After the test was complete, Li Man stood up. “Miss Song, the results will take four hours to come out. I’ll notify you then. For now, let’s go check on the Admiral.”
Song Qingpei frowned subconsciously.
Li Man thought she was afraid Ming Yu would take her anger out on her and offered a comforting smile. “Miss Song, you don’t need to worry. That was just something the Admiral said in anger. We would never inject a patient with high-potency inhibitors without their consent, much less carve out a patient’s gland.”
But those words brought no comfort to Song Qingpei.
As long as Ming Yu had that idea in her head, with her temper and her methods, she had countless ways to force her to submit. Her daughter was her weak spot, and Ming Yu knew that all too well.
At that thought, Song Qingpei gritted her teeth. “Doctor Li, I accept the inhibitor injection.”
It wasn’t like she had much need for that sort of thing anyway. Once she was injected, Ming Yu couldn’t possibly blame her own uncontrollable pheromones on her anymore, right?
Li Man sighed helplessly. “Alright, come with me.”
Before administering the injection, Li Man followed procedure and asked Song Qingpei about her previous dosage and frequency. She was met with a look of profound shock when she learned that Song Qingpei had never once used an inhibitor.
An Alpha who had fully marked an Omega, no matter how cool their pheromones were, couldn’t possibly have zero needs in that department.
Unless she had marked a new Omega since then.
At that possibility, Li Man couldn’t help but be impressed by Song Qingpei’s reckless audacity. After fully marking the Admiral, she had actually dared to mark a new Omega.
If the Admiral were to find out, the consequences were truly unimaginable.
She gave Song Qingpei a complicated look, but still followed procedure. “Miss Song, may I ask when the last time you had relations with an Omega was?”
Song Qingpei was completely baffled by the question.
She hadn’t seen Ming Yu in two years. Shouldn’t Doctor Li have known that already? Why was she even asking?
Assuming it was just a routine question from the doctor, she answered truthfully, “Ah, just two⦔
The word “years” never had a chance to leave her mouth.
She saw Doctor Li suddenly stand up and turn to someone behind her with concern. “Admiral, why are you out here by yourself? How are you feeling?”
Song Qingpei quickly turned her head and saw Ming Yu standing right behind her, her face an icy mask.
Her already cold expression was now colder than frost and snow, like a snow lotus atop a snowy mountain.
Without even glancing at Song Qingpei, she said to Li Man, “Doctor Li, my pheromones are stable for the time being. It seems to be effective.”
“That’s good.” Li Man let out a breath of relief. “In that case, Admiral, please come back for another check-up tomorrow. I will collect your body’s various data points for comparison.”
“Alright.”
After speaking, Ming Yu shot an emotionless, sidelong glance at Song Qingpei and asked with a frown, “Has she been injected with the inhibitor yet?”
Li Man replied, “Miss Song has already agreed. I’m about to administer it now.”
Ming Yu said nothing more, simply taking a seat to the side to wait silently, as if she were afraid the two of them would conspire to deceive her.
Li Man had wanted to question Song Qingpei in more detail, but with Ming Yu planted right there, she didn’t dare ask anything casually. She was terrified that if Ming Yu found out Song Qingpei had dared to mark another Omega, she would, in a fit of rage, actually force her to carve out Song Qingpei’s gland.
Li Man habitually assumed that Song Qingpei had meant it had only been two months since she had last marked an Omega. The sudden withdrawal would naturally require a stronger inhibitor; otherwise, she could easily be triggered by Omega pheromones.
Afraid that Song Qingpei might lose control and incur Ming Yu’s wrath, she gritted her teeth and injected Song Qingpei with a high-potency inhibitor.
Song Qingpei reacted poorly to the strong drug, grimacing in pain as beads of cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Li Man asked about her condition with concern, telling her that this was a normal reaction and that she might experience some chills and weakness over the next few days, and advised her to get plenty of rest.
Song Qingpei gritted her teeth and nodded. Before she could even recover, Ming Yu stood up and urged her to leave.
She pressed a hand over the injection site, silently cursing Ming Yu for being so cold-blooded. She stood, thanked Li Man, and quietly followed Ming Yu out of the room.
The two walked in silence.
Ming Yu, with her long, straight legs, walked as fast as the wind. Song Qingpei, already feeling unwell, struggled to keep up. In the end, she decided to just ‘let it rot’,4 slowing her pace and no longer trying to catch up.
Walking ahead, Ming Yu noticed she hadn’t followed. Her brow furrowed tightly, and she stopped, her eyes filled with impatience.
When Song Qingpei finally caught up, she mocked her coldly, “Can you be any faster? It was just an inhibitor injection. Who are you putting on this life-or-death performance for?”
Her tone was sarcastic and passive-aggressive,5 enough to make one’s skin crawl.
Song Qingpei was already feeling sick, and hearing such harsh words now, she couldn’t help but retort, “Yes, yes, of course I can’t compare to your vast experience, Admiral Ming. After all, your pheromones are so potent you need seven inhibitor injections in a single night⦔
“Song Qingpei!”
Ming Yu’s sharp cry cut her off.
Song Qingpei’s breath hitched, but she didn’t back down, insisting through clenched teeth, “I’m only speaking the truth. Why is the Admiral making such a fuss?”
With that, she turned to walk away.
Ming Yu took a single long stride to block her path, her hand shooting out to grab her by the neck. She slammed her against the wall, staring at her coldly. “Try saying that again.”
Her aura was terrifying. Even Song Qingpei couldn’t help but feel a primal flicker of fear.
But thinking of their past, and of all the times she had swallowed her anger, a wave of stubbornness washed over her. She refused to show weakness. “Why wouldn’t I dare say it?”
“Ming Yu, let me tell you something. From the moment you regained your memory, I considered you dead. It’s impossible for me to have any feelings for you anymore.”
“It’s your own damn pheromones that are too potent. What kind of skill is it to take your anger out on others when you can’t even control yourself?”
“If I had known you were such a cold-blooded, unreasonable person, I never should have saved you in the first place!”
Having roared out all her dissatisfaction, Song Qingpei felt a wave of cathartic relief.
She didn’t notice that Ming Yu’s face had already turned ashen. Her cold eyes, fixed on Song Qingpei, glinted as if laced with poison, as if she wanted to eat her alive.
Song Qingpei froze, her heart hammering in her chest.
“Good. Good. Good!”
Ming Yu repeated the word three times, her voice sinister. She squeezed Song Qingpei’s neck, her words deliberate and sharp. “Then right now, I’ll let you have a taste of what it truly means to be cold-blooded, and what it means to be unreasonable!”
With that, Ming Yu shoved her away.
Song Qingpei stumbled back several steps, collapsing against the wall and coughing, her lips trembling.
Ming Yu acted as if she hadn’t seen a thing. She activated her smart A.I. and issued a command. “Lieutenant Lin, come immediately and take Song Qingpei to the confinement bay. Without my permission, she is not to take a single step out of that bay.”
Her voice wasn’t loud, but the finality in her tone sent a chill down Song Qingpei’s spine, making her entire heart clench in terror.
“Ming Yu! What are you doing! You’re insane!” Song Qingpei screamed in fury.
Ming Yu turned a deaf ear.
Soon, Lieutenant Lin arrived in a hurry with several people.
She was startled by the atmosphere of ‘swords drawn and bows bent’6 between the two. Not daring to ask the Admiral for a reason, she could only cast an apologetic glance at Song Qingpei.
“Miss Song, my apologies.”
Song Qingpei was seized by the arms, unable to move.
She struggled in a panic. “Let me go! Ming Yu, you bastard, what are you trying to do?”
Ming Yu ignored her, turning and walking away without a backward glance.
Seeing this, Lieutenant Lin gave a helpless wave of her hand, and the already weak Song Qingpei was dragged into the confinement bay.
Out of respect for their brief acquaintance, Lieutenant Lin couldn’t help but offer a piece of advice. “Miss Song, why must you go against the Admiral? Why not just give in a little? Once the Admiral’s anger has passed, she will surely let you out.”
Song Qingpei seemed to have lost all her strength. She slumped listlessly in a corner, not saying a word.
Lieutenant Lin sighed, shook her head, and turned to leave.
The door to the confinement bay slid shut, and Song Qingpei’s heart plummeted.
She wasn’t particularly worried about her daughter. Judging by Ming Yu’s attitude toward Songsong, she genuinely cared for and doted on the child.
But Ming Yu’s actions this time had brutally torn open the unequal nature of their relationship, and it had truly, deeply wounded her.
She knew Ming Yu came from a noble background, that she was the Star Alliance Rose whom everyone looked up to. She knew there was an insurmountable gulf between them, and that it was only natural for someone like Ming Yu to look down on her and despise her. So, no matter how painful it was to remember the warm, sweet days of their past, she had never once blamed Ming Yu.
She knew she wasn’t worthy.
But now, for the very first time, she felt a seed of hatred for Ming Yu.
She had saved Ming Yu’s life. Everything that happened between them back then, Ming Yu had done of her own free will. And yet, she repaid that kindness with enmity.7
Just because she had lost her memory?
At this thought, Song Qingpei covered her face, her shoulders trembling with suppressed sobs as tears streamed through the gaps between her fingers.
What had she done wrong to deserve any of this?
