    …Who did it?

    Fu Chaoyun reacted.

She reached out to block, but was still a step too late. One careless move, and Xia Shiyi managed to snatch it off directly.

    At that moment.

That beautiful face was completely exposed to the air.

Even though copious amounts of suppressants had been sprayed, the previous situation had been too intense. Until now, remnants of pheromones still lingered in the air – alpha and omega pheromones intermingled, stimulating and fusing with each other, countless times more potent than usual.

At times like these, an alpha’s senses were naturally keen.

Xia Shiyi stopped resisting. During Fu Chaoyun’s moment of stupefaction, a malicious and vicious smile spread across her face.

“Weren’t you fond of stopping me and preaching?”

“Then I’ll deliberately drag you down with me. Let’s all join this chaos together. Let’s see if you can still maintain that self-righteous and condescending attitude!”

Yet when Fu Chaoyun looked over, her amber eyes suddenly grew somewhat deep.

Ah ah ah, is it acting up again? Will she reveal an ugly and twisted expression like herself? Pei Xuezhi is still outside, right? How will she explain this to that person later?

    Tch.

But for such a rich second generation to participate in this kind of show, it must just be for fun. Pei Xuezhi is beautiful enough, so she was targeted.

    A very simple logic.

What alpha wouldn’t want to conquer such a beautiful and proud omega?

Initially, her target was also that person, but there were too many people surrounding them. Upon noticing that Qin Zhenyan had also come for this reason – three people fighting for one – she couldn’t guarantee her own chances of victory. Moreover, with the show being broadcast live, certain special behaviors couldn’t be implemented in front of the cameras, so she had no choice but to switch targets.

Though Ni Jiaojiao wasn’t even an O, just an ordinary beta, with looks far inferior to that person’s, her attitude in toying with the alpha (Qi Changfeng) had left an impression.

Making such a person ultimately submit before her – wouldn’t that be another kind of gratifying satisfaction?

    Unfortunately.

No matter who it was, they all had idiots guarding them. Whether it was the beautiful and proud omega or the challenging beta, she hadn’t managed to get her hands on any of them.

    But it didn’t matter.

Until now, she hadn’t detected any marking scent on Pei Xuezhi.

So if she couldn’t have a taste, neither could others – no loss there.

As today’s events escalated with Fu Chaoyun involved, that omega who caught her attention was so proud, surely destined to be unobtainable by anyone.

How would the high-and-mighty young miss act then? Would she secretly resort to force?

She probably would, after all, alphas were such inferior beings…

Xia Shiyi’s smile grew wider and wider, her usually sophisticated model face nearly twisted. Though the most primitive bestial desires still lingered in her head, her mind gradually regained some clarity. That malice seemed to be born in her marrow, sweeping through her thoughts in an instant.

    The next second.

Xia Shiyi’s vision went black because Fu Chaoyun had pressed down on her head.

The other’s hand pressed against the upper half of her face, blocking her vision, fingers applying force until even her skull seemed to begin aching.

    …Painful, isn’t it?

“Who do you think you are? A justice warrior?” Despite her predicament, Xia Shiyi still managed a cold laugh, defiantly meeting the other’s gaze, “You also…”

    You’re no different.

Before the mocking words could be finished, Fu Chaoyun violently slammed her head against the ground, with a loud “thud” that everyone around could hear.

Xia Shiyi was knocked out cold, unconscious.

“Tssβ€”” someone nearby couldn’t help but draw in a sharp breath, “Is she okay?”

The perpetrator Fu Chaoyun: “Should be.”

There was no point in listening to someone mindlessly spewing garbage. It was indeed better to make them shut up early.

    Once and for all.

    “But-but isn’t this a bit too harsh?”

Perhaps because the gazes falling on her were too intense, Fu Chaoyun added an explanation, “She went berserk, lost all reason, couldn’t control herself. Knocking her out was entirely for her own good.”

    “…”

What a nice “for her own good!”

“But with that much force, won’t she get a concussion?”

Fu Chaoyun thought for a moment, “Perfect, she can also forget some unpleasant things that happened in the process. That’s how to better embrace tomorrow.”

    “…”

By “unpleasant things” do you mean getting violently beaten by you?

Everyone was in a daze for a while before coming to their senses.

    “Director Fu, your protective maskβ€””

    “Hmm?”

Fu Chaoyun turned her head, her expression now quite ordinary compared to her ferocity when dealing with Xia Shiyi.

She glanced at that person, her gaze finally settling slowly on the electric baton attached to their waist.

If a concussion really would cause memory loss…

    “Tch, what a pity.”

Knocking her out with one hit was too lenient, Fu Chaoyun spoke with undisguised regret while standing up, and vindictively kicked Xia Shiyi once more.

“Drag this one to solitary confinement too, remember to keep the three separated.”

    “…”

Such a fierce Director Fu, so vengeful… No wait! Now’s not the time to worry about that!!!

“Director Fu, how are you feeling now, that mask… should you put it back on?”

The remaining beta staff left two or three people to chat with Fu Chaoyun and distract her attention, while the others secretly approached from behind.

Although Director Fu didn’t appear to have lost her reason at the moment, who really knew the true situation?

    Better safe than sorry.

Though the livestream was shut down, the director kept a monitoring screen on her end, and the staff who entered all wore earpieces for receiving orders at any time.

Initially seeing the situation under control, the director had breathed a sigh of relief, but then seeing Xia Shiyi remove Fu Chaoyun’s mask, she was truly scared out of her wits!

This person wasn’t just a guest, but her boss as well – if something happened, she would have to apologize to the biggest boss behind her!

The director had been shouting for a while – though knocking out the boss wasn’t ethical, compared to letting things get out of hand… choosing the lesser of two evils, she’d have to offend!

If Fu Chaoyun could overpower a berserk Xia Shiyi in her normal state, if she also went crazy…

    Goodness, who could control that!?

    Better resolve this quickly!

On this side, Fu Chaoyun gave the speaker a glance, her expression quite exasperated, “This has already been exposed to the air and picked up the pheromones from outside. If I put it back on and seal myself in an enclosed space, do you want another person going wild?”

    “…”

    “Haha, haha… that’s true…”

That person laughed awkwardly, while their peripheral vision caught two colleagues who had snuck behind Fu Chaoyun, ready to act.

    Mission success!

But then Fu Chaoyun turned around, and in an instant, scared the souls out of those two!

However, Fu Chaoyun merely gave a casual glance at what they held in their hands.

    “Give them to me.”

The alpha’s tone was so matter-of-fact that the two people, who had clearly come to stop everything, obediently handed over their isolation patches.

The director on the other end was cursing furiously.

Fu Chaoyun’s isolation suit had already loosened considerably during her fight with Xia Shiyi. Now with a gentle pull, the gland on her nape was exposed. She swept her long hair aside, and with a “pat,” directly applied the isolation patch over it.

Fu Chaoyun looked around at everyone, “Is this acceptable now?”

With this series of actions, everyone noticed something wasn’t quite right.

    “You’re… fine?”

    “Of course I’m fine.”

Fu Chaoyun spoke indifferently, and she truly was fine.

After her mask was removed, she had caught the scent of pheromones in the area. The room had already been heavily sprayed with suppressants earlier, and she arrived later, not experiencing that extremely excited, irrational state. She only detected very faint traces.

Far from having to resist, these pheromones hadn’t affected her at all. Fu Chaoyun remained perfectly calm, unable to summon any thoughts – this was within her expectations, otherwise she could have blocked that strike earlier.

However, because three people’s pheromones were mixed together – alpha-omega bonding and alpha-alpha repulsion combined, it became…

    Absolutely! Unbearably! Foul!

Fu Chaoyun’s brows furrowed tightly, “It stinks.”

At this scene, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief, but upon second thought, something seemed off!

In corners where Fu Chaoyun couldn’t see, the group frantically exchanged glances.

Having no reaction in this situation, could it be that Director Fu was… impotent?

    Ah this…

This piece of gossip seemed bigger than all the previous events!

Fu Chaoyun hadn’t noticed this point. Though the pheromone assault in the room had no effect on her, being in it still made her uncomfortable. She was about to remove her isolation suit and wash her face.

“By the way.” Fu Chaoyun’s steps paused, “Don’t tell Zhizhi about what happened in here today.”

She was referring to her true combat ability and the dangerous situation of having her mask removed, but the staff completely misunderstood.

Though the signals didn’t match, they all nodded anyway.

    “Absolutely won’t tell!”

    “My lips are sealed.”

“What happened? I don’t know anything!”

    “Sorry, I’ve got amnesia.”

Seeing everyone so understanding, Fu Chaoyun left satisfied.

As soon as she left, chaos erupted again.

“Our show’s biggest CP is breaking up because of this reason?”

“The viewers would go crazy if this got out!”

“Don’t keep it hidden, if treated early, there might still be hope, right?”

“Teacher Pei! Teacher Pei, how unfortunate!!!”

“This is serious, should we give Teacher Pei a hint?”

“Better not, we just promised the Director, plus our salaries come from there.”

“True, but my conscience is bothering me!”

“How about giving some subtle hints? Overcoming this obstacle together might elevate their relationship to the next level.”

“Then… should we try finding an opportunity?”

    **

Fu Chaoyun removed her isolation suit and washed her face thoroughly. Earlier when her mask was removed, her hair had fallen down and been exposed to some pheromones in the room. With insufficient time for a hair wash, she could only endure it, spraying suppressant on her hair instead.

As water ran, the director’s voice came through her earpiece seeking instructions.

“Earlier we stopped the livestream and filming, worried about negative effects. Now there’s all kinds of speculation online. I have complete footage of you entering the room – should we release it to the public?”

    Pheromone outbursts.

In the ABO world, while common enough, they could be troublesome to handle if they escalated – one wrong move and the whole show could collapse.

Unable to decide, the director simply passed the buck by asking Fu Chaoyun, who was director in name but boss in reality.

“Of course, I’ll delete the later part!” The director cautiously added while waiting for Fu Chaoyun’s response.

    Fu Chaoyun: ??

What later part? Oh, when Xia Shiyi removed her mask… that wasn’t particularly embarrassing, was it? No need for such protection.

Not quite understanding, Fu Chaoyun turned off the tap, “Don’t release anything for now, wait until we confirm their safety at the hospital.”

    “Understood.”

“Also, keep backup copies of the recordings, including during the incident. I want to see them when they’re released.”

Fu Chaoyun was particularly reliable at times like this.

    “I understand.”

Fu Chaoyun thought the director should be done, but after a while, she spoke again hesitantly.

“Maybe you should also go to the hospital later, get checked out and such?”

    Fu Chaoyun: ?

“I don’t mean anything by it, just that you went into the room and had your mask removed. I’m concerned there might be issues with your body.”

Three emphasized words: body, might, and issues.

Fu Chaoyun directly cut off her mic, not listening to the director’s rambling.

On the other side, Pei Xuezhi faced the same issue, with beta staff vaguely mentioning in her ear how dangerous it was inside and how fierce the pheromones were, insisting they must get checked at the hospital too.

Shortly after, Fu Chaoyun came out.

As she got closer, Pei Xuezhi unconsciously wrinkled her brow.

Fu Chaoyun stopped, “Does it stink?”

    “Very much.”

Pei Xuezhi’s gaze casually swept across Fu Chaoyun’s hair. As Fu Chaoyun was about to leave to wash again, Pei Xuezhi grabbed her hand, not letting her go.

“Just kidding,” Pei Xuezhi said, “It’s only psychological on my part.”

This explained the previous comment was a joke. Fu Chaoyun suddenly felt relieved and began telling Pei Xuezhi about the situation inside.

She omitted her heroic parts, focusing on how nothing serious happened and how the two alphas had behaved.

Fu Chaoyun then nudged Pei Xuezhi, whispering, “Should we tell Jiaojiao-jie about this?”

Pei Xuezhi thought of what Ni Jiaojiao had said earlier, paused, then replied, “Jiaojiao-jie probably already knows.”

    “…Huh?”

“Qi Changfeng probably wants to claim the credit himself.”

Fu Chaoyun considered this, “He handled things well today, so let’s give him a chance to shine.”

    “Mm.”

Pei Xuezhi responded while reaching out to ruffle Fu Chaoyun’s hair. Somehow today, she wasn’t being gentle, messing up those big waves into disarray, exposing more of it to the air.

Fu Chaoyun was a bit bewildered, then heard Pei Xuezhi say:

“Jiejie sweated a lot while catching goldfish outside.”

    “Yes.”

Where Fu Chaoyun couldn’t see, Pei Xuezhi’s eyes darkened slightly, “Jiejie should wash her hair when she gets back.”

Don’t let other omegas’ pheromones remain on her, even if accidental, even if just a trace…

Her possessiveness and obsession were far stronger than anyone imagined, much stronger.

    Fu Chaoyun nodded in agreement.

They moved on to other topics.

“By the way, where are my goldfish?”

“The temperature’s a bit high outside, goldfish can’t be in direct sunlight. The villa still has lingering scents and needs cleaning so we can’t go back yet. Also not sure if pheromones affect goldfish, so they’re in the director’s monitoring room. I’ve told the staff not to feed them randomly.”

“Oh, that place has air conditioning to prevent the machines from overheating, should be fine.”

    “Want to go see them?”

“No need, let them stay there for now. The staff have been busy enough today, frequent visits wouldn’t be good.”

    “Alright.”

Pei Xuezhi kept playing with Fu Chaoyun’s hair back and forth, as if addicted, then suddenly called out.

    “Jiejie.”

    “What?”

“Pay a bit more attention to your own baby, even if it’s just adopted.”

Pei Xuezhi rarely spoke such intimate words while clear-headed, yet now she was comparing the goldfish to a baby…

Fu Chaoyun was stunned for a moment, then smiled gently, “You caught them, so they’re your babies too, they’re our shared babies.”

The last phrase was especially tender.

Pei Xuezhi gazed at her, their eyes meeting, and gradually the emotions in her dark eyes softened.

“So it makes perfect sense for Zhizhi to help me take care of them,” the alpha declared righteously.

    “Okay.”

Pei Xuezhi leaned closer, seemingly about to kiss, but suddenly caught another whiff of the lingering scent in her hair and turned away.

Fu Chaoyun looked at her puzzled, tilting her head.

Pei Xuezhi pushed her away slightly with an expressionless face, appearing disgusted, “Jiejie stinks too much today, so no kisses.”

    Fu Chaoyun: !!!

    “Noβ€”!!”

    The ambulance arrived quickly.

After being forcibly separated, those three were each confined to isolation rooms. Now being carried out, only Qi Changfeng was conscious.

Qi Changfeng wasn’t feeling well either, but held on with sheer willpower. Seeing Xia Shiyi unconscious on the stretcher, he still maintained a victor’s posture, forcing out a sarcastic smile at him.

    “You’re… eliminated!”

As a muscular bronze-skinned man who was often in the sun, his face was now pale – quite a unique skin-whitening technique. Ni Jiaojiao saw this and was about to walk over.

“Stay away from me!” Qi Changfeng suddenly shouted extremely loudly, even louder than when he’d just mocked Xia Shiyi, as if using all his remaining strength.

Ni Jiaojiao’s emotions were very complicated now.

Was he trying not to affect her?

Then she heard Qi Changfeng continue, “I stink really bad right now, but this isn’t what I wanted, you can’t deduct impression points, okay!”

Qi Changfeng had several blocking patches stacked on his gland, layer upon layer, like a tower-stacking game.

After being confined, the staff had given him many suppressants – these were enhanced versions for special situations, extremely effective but as a trade-off, they had a particularly strong smell.

The kind even betas could smell – more as a warning that this person was very dangerous and should be avoided.

    So, it also stank.

    Ni Jiaojiao: “…”

Well, a fool would always be a fool.

Just as he was about to be loaded into the ambulance, Qi Changfeng called out again, “Jiaojiao.”

    Ni Jiaojiao looked up.

Qi Changfeng was lying flat now, hardly impressive, but his desperate shout could be heard.

“Just now in the room, I held back, proving I’m not the kind of alpha who loses his head at an omega’s beckoning. I hesitated when I first learned you were just a beta – that was my mistake. But now I know I was wrong. Could you… give me another chance?”

    What a foolish alpha.

Ni Jiaojiao suddenly smiled. She should have continued teasing this stupid alpha, saying she’d think about it, but what came out instead was:

“I don’t like when they come to me.” She paused. “I prefer to do the pursuing myself.”

    Qi Changfeng froze.

Just then, the ambulance’s back door closed, cutting off everything.

Pei Xuezhi brought Fu Chaoyun over to find Ni Jiaojiao.

“The villa needs thorough pheromone cleaning and can’t be entered. She was inside earlier, so to be safe, I’m taking her to the hospital for a check-up. What about Jiaojiao-jie?”

Ni Jiaojiao nodded, “Perfect timing, I should get my hand treated too. Jianyi probably won’t be back today.”

    “Together?”

    “Sure.”

The three got into the show’s car with a staff member driving. Fu Chaoyun and Pei Xuezhi sat in back, Ni Jiaojiao in the front passenger seat. The cool air brushing her arms reminded her of earlier events.

She had chosen Qi Changfeng from the start, though for fun, deliberately playing along when he thought she was an omega.

But if she hadn’t been interested, she wouldn’t have bothered doing any of that.

    As for Xia Shiyi…

That one had come to her on her own.

During that time, she knew Qi Changfeng was actually looking for an omega – his family background wouldn’t allow him to be with just a beta, better to end it early.

As a fellow player, Ni Jiaojiao was many years older than Xia Shiyi. With her experience, she saw through Xia Shiyi’s impure motives immediately. Since she was looking for ways to discourage Qi Changfeng anyway, she didn’t refuse and sometimes even favored Xia Shiyi.

    But now…

Through the rearview mirror, Ni Jiaojiao clearly saw these two intertwined again. Though both were somewhat proud people, when together, their conversation gradually became childish.

Watching and thinking about this, Ni Jiaojiao found herself smiling.

Young people’s love was so pure and sweet. Even the cold fairy Pei Xuezhi had descended to earth for romance, perhaps she should consider it for herself too?

Yes, starting with visiting a certain fool at the hospital.

    Meanwhile.

The car door had closed, but Qi Changfeng’s mind hadn’t processed it yet. He’d used his last bit of strength to shout, but now hearing the response, he couldn’t settle down to rest.

“What did she mean? Xia Shiyi joined the show because of Ni Jiaojiao, that’s ruled out, but I was the one who pursued her first, right? So after Xia Shiyi and I fought so hard, she actually doesn’t like either of us?”

“Waaahhβ€” Why is my love life so complicated!!!”

“Sir, please calm down and lie still for treatment,” the medical staff tried to soothe him.

But Qi Changfeng’s eyes were wide open, struggling to lift his head while firmly gripping the hand of the male, beta medical staff member trying to examine him, looking even more terrifying than during the pheromone outburst in the room.

“How can I stay calm? How can I lie still? Let me out, I need to pursue my love!”

“It’s not dead yet! There’s still warmth! It can still ignite!!!”

    “…”

The medical staff was speechless, but Qi Changfeng eventually collapsed.

    Straight down.

The other medical staff member coldly and mercilessly withdrew the syringe.

When faced with patients unwilling to calm down and cooperate, they didn’t mind using some physical methods to assist treatment :)

    Well.

Though the fool had overcome a major crisis and excellently defeated his love rival in the emergency, there was still a long way to go before reaching a happy ending with his beloved.

The biggest obstacle in the process… was actually his own intelligence, or rather, emotional intelligence.

    [Light a candle.jpg]

    Everyone arrived at the hospital.

Fu Chaoyun had no issues, and Ni Jiaojiao’s hand was just scraped, without bone damage, would naturally heal with time.

As for the central trio of the incident:

Xia Shiyi was still unconscious from Fu Chaoyun’s knockout; Qi Changfeng was out from the medical staff’s sedative, waiting for it to wear off; Fu Li was also unconscious.

Both alphas were in decent condition. Even though Xia Shiyi’s head was struck by Fu Chaoyun, she didn’t even get a concussion, much to Fu Chaoyun’s slight disappointment.

Such was the superior constitution of alphas.

“Should we remove it?” the doctor asked.

A mutually consensual mark wouldn’t need removal, but this was clearly a special case. No one answered.

The show’s staff brought the incident footage, and Ni Jiaojiao, as a partial witness, described the situation.

“When we came downstairs to the second floor, I smelled a faint omega pheromone.”

“At that moment, Changfeng and Ah Yi… I mean Xia Shiyi, their expressions changed instantly. Xia Shiyi rushed straight to CEO Qin’s room on the second floor. Changfeng cursed and told me to get out quickly, then went after her.”

“I remember there wasn’t any door opening motion, they just went straight in?”

“I should have left, but I was worried something might happen. Thinking I was the only beta unaffected by all this, I stayed, and then saw Xiao Li in CEO Qin’s room.”

“His heat must have been very severe then. His whole expression and body looked extremely uncomfortable, and he seemed completely unable to control his actions. Xia Shiyi rushed in to grab him, Changfeng tried to stop him, I followed to help, then I was pushed away. We struggled all the way downstairs, finally I was pushed out, and I don’t know what happened after.”

The subsequent events were all carefully recorded by the surveillance cameras.

Fu Chaoyun’s gaze moved away from the screen.

“It probably wasn’t an ordinary heat. Emergency heat procedures are common knowledge now. Qi Changfeng telling you to leave immediately shows he realized the situation was very serious, not something suppressants alone could solve. He did that to protect you.”

    “Yes.”

Ni Jiaojiao nodded, “Though I’m a beta, my situation is special. I can occasionally smell pheromones, but when I can detect them, they’re already very concentrated.”

“They must have used some other drug. Regular suppressants wouldn’t work, only marking could resolve it,” Pei Xuezhi said.

Fu Chaoyun nodded, “Probably. After the incident, the show immediately released lots of suppressants. Can’t say for Xia Shiyi, but seeing Qi Changfeng’s pained expression, they likely had no effect.”

As they analyzed, Fu Chaoyun and Pei Xuezhi exchanged glances and spoke in unison.

    “Illegal drugs.”

“Alright.” Fu Chaoyun tapped the table, bringing everyone’s attention back. “Now we need to figure out where this drug came from and how it was used to trigger Fu Li’s heat.”

    “Let’s use process of elimination.”

Pei Xuezhi continued, “The two dating couples weren’t there, so leave them aside. Jiaojiao-jie had no reason to use such methods to get rid of two alphas, and Qi Changfeng’s behavior rules him out.”

“Xia Shiyi can be ruled out too,” Fu Chaoyun added.

Though she was a beast, her self-incriminating words showed she was just taking advantage of the situation, proving she hadn’t initiated it.

    They exchanged glances.

    That left only… two people.

Just then, Qin Zhenyan arrived at the hospital. Having been suddenly called to handle company business today, he was still in casual clothes, frowning with apparent displeasure while walking and talking.

“I was about to return when they told me the villa was sealed off, show guests couldn’t return, and everyone’s at the hospital. No livestream allowed either. What happened? Did someone fall ill? Or was there some bigger accident?”

Everyone’s gazes turned to him, their suspicious scrutiny too obvious. Qin Zhenyan, mature and composed, skilled in dealing with people, immediately stopped in his tracks.

“Why are you all looking at me like that?”

    The next second.

    “It’s not him.”

Fu Chaoyun and Pei Xuezhi said in unison.

So the only one left who was in Qin Zhenyan’s room at that time wasβ€”

    Knock knock.

Outside the room, a nurse’s voice came, “Excuse me, Mr. Fu is awake.”

    Note
