    The Most Romantic Confession

Breaking off a snowy branch, a gift for you. 【End of Main Text】

    Pei Xuezhi had fled.

    【Ahhhhhh—】

    The System’s head throbbed.

【How did it come to this! What in the world is wrong with these Fu Chaoyuns? They haven’t even met properly, and they’re already fighting so hard it feels like their brains are about to pop, each one harder to deal with than the last! When will she finally wake up! Help me, ahhh!!!】

It was, of course, referring to the best Fu Chaoyun, the one who had fallen in love with Pei Xuezhi in this lifetime.

    But perhaps…

To some extent, she wasn’t that “good” either.

As the saying goes, you can run, but you can’t hide forever. In the earlier plan to help Fu Chaoyun recover her memories, the two had already scheduled an overseas trip.

The destination was a small border town, quite prosperous economically, with very low temperatures. For seven or eight months of the year, it was covered in ice and snow. Looking out, one would see an unbroken expanse of frosty white.

The extreme cold also reduced the activity within the human body. Amidst the ice and snow, the small town became even more tranquil and peaceful.

It should have been exquisitely beautiful.

However, with a younger, and also more unstable, Fu Chaoyun now trailing behind Pei Xuezhi, things seemed a bit uncertain again.

The young Fu Chaoyun merely lacked social experience. After one attempt to test the waters didn’t yield the desired outcome, she retracted her claws, maintaining an appropriately safe distance.

Jealous, yet clearly aware that in Pei-jiejie’s heart, she couldn’t compare to the one who came later, she chose to lie low for the time being.

She had her strengths too, using her youth to put on well-behaved demeanor, secretly waiting for her next move.

【Ahhh, my head hurts so much—】

This time, the System was really about to grow a brain. After all, this Fu Chaoyun was still very young, and her attempts at concealment weren’t perfect. Not only Pei Xuezhi, but even the System could see through her little schemes.

【This one clearly didn’t have any major problems, but why! Now! Is she also equally difficult to handle!!!】

    “…”

Pei Xuezhi chose silence. However, the System didn’t necessarily need her to provide a reason; it quickly found an excuse for itself.

    【Mm! That’s right!】

【It must be because that broken part merged into her that she became like this… The previous Fu Chaoyun wasn’t that annoying, was she?】

    Really?

Pei Xuezhi’s eyelids drooped; she didn’t seem to think so.

First, they went skiing together. The seventeen-year-old Fu Chaoyun was much livelier, and being in front of the person she adored, the energetic little wolf-dog truly showed her vigorous side.

Pei Xuezhi mostly watched from the side.

Compared to the Scum A, this merged, younger, seventeen-year-old version of Fu Chaoyun didn’t seem so detestable.

Sometimes, the other party’s actions could indeed make her smile.

    But as for liking her…

    Not really.

Besides, if things stopped here, what would happen to her Fu Chaoyun?

Unlike the current Fu Chaoyun, and with the System by her side, Pei Xuezhi, having traversed time and space, possessed all her memories. She remembered clearly the process of getting along with every Fu Chaoyun.

But no matter which Fu Chaoyun it was, the one who pleased her most was still the Fu Chaoyun of this lifetime, the one who spent every day with her.

Fu Chaoyun was split and differentiated by the System, becoming different Fu Chaoyuns. Yet, Pei Xuezhi, aside from varying degrees of luck, seemed to have always been the same one.

But how could she possibly be the same one?

Different experiences, even with similar personalities, would lead to subtle differences in detail. Upon careful distinction, each Pei Xuezhi was, in fact, different.

The Fu Chaoyun from the first lifetime was good, and this current seventeen-year-old Fu Chaoyun, who hadn’t experienced everything, was also not bad.

But one was too distant from her, and the other was a person who probably shouldn’t have appeared in her trajectory. Her impression of them was too shallow, so shallow that seeing that identical face, only the image of that Fu Chaoyun would surface in her mind.

Bright and beautiful, yet languid, completely lacking an Alpha’s imposing aura, she would shamelessly snuggle up to her, cooing softly, just to beg for some kissing and cuddling.

Pei Xuezhi mused; some time had passed since Fu Chaoyun last showily skied past her.

【Hiss—】The System sucked in a cold breath. 【She didn’t actually hit a tree, did she!】

Pei Xuezhi glanced sideways at it and skied down to find her.

On one hand, she didn’t dislike this seventeen-year-old Fu Chaoyun; on the other, that was also her lover’s body.

There was indeed a tree at the foot of the mountain. In the icy, snowy landscape, its branches were bare, without a hint of green, only white snow covering the tips.

If a mischievous person were to kick it, fresh snow would probably fall, dusting them all over.

However, that tree was very far down, near the villa, long past the skiing area. Pei Xuezhi searched for a while before finding it, and then, she saw the person standing under the tree.

The Alpha was indeed standing there, but she hadn’t been hit.

She was dressed in a very light blue ski suit. Her hands, clad in waterproof and non-slip gloves, rested on ski poles, making her figure appear slender. The suit was warm without looking bulky. Standing with the tree behind her, its leaves all gone, leaving it thin, she exuded a sense of clear, expansive, and refined elegance.

Behind her was more white snow. The clear-featured Alpha stood there, the extremely light blue on her seeming to connect with the sky, dyeing this frosty white expanse with a layer of vibrant, broad atmosphere.

For a moment, even the turbid air she exhaled felt much more relaxed.

Pei Xuezhi had seen the same attire on that seventeen-year-old Fu Chaoyun when they arrived, but at this moment, as if bewitched, she involuntarily moved closer to the other person.

Their hearts seemed to be in sync. The Alpha’s head was originally turned to the other side, but sensing Pei Xuezhi’s approach, she immediately turned around. Seemingly still a bit unwilling, she pushed away the obstruction covering her face.

In the sparse, pale white, a small half of her face was revealed, and what was particularly striking was a pair of amber, gentle, and light-colored eyes.

    It was different.

A few strands of brown hair escaped, falling onto her cheek. Fu Chaoyun tilted her head and smiled at Pei Xuezhi. Then, as if feeling that wasn’t enough, she suddenly bent down, picked up a snowball, and threw it at Pei Xuezhi.

It landed near Pei Xuezhi’s feet and scattered. It was truly childish. Only then did she seem satisfied, transforming back into a mature and reliable Alpha, and said.

    “Long time no see.”

Pei Xuezhi did the same, quickening her steps as she revealed her face.

When she hugged the person, the wind and snow lingering on the clothes were still cold, but upon touching the skin, the iciness lasted only a moment, instantly transforming into a scorching, fiery heat.

Fu Chaoyun held the person in her arms, her arm strength immense, her embrace tight. It was so cold that puffs of air appeared when she spoke, yet even so, she continued to speak, firm and gentle.

The earlier playfulness was gone, replaced by a hint of pitiableness.

“Zhizhi, I missed you so much.”

Pei Xuezhi didn’t speak; at this moment, only her heartbeat served as proof.

    She knew.

    —Her Fu Chaoyun was back.

The skiing activity was canceled abruptly.

In the small town covered in snow, the sky darkened exceptionally early. Inside the small cabin, the fireplace burned hotly. Layer after layer of thick clothing was gradually removed, but what was even hotter than this was Pei Xuezhi’s long-suppressed susceptibility period, which suddenly erupted.

It came on fiercely, incinerating everything.

But this time, she didn’t need to restrain or suppress it, because her Alpha was right beside her—the one she desired from body to soul, capable of soothing and even satisfying all her needs.

So there was no need for shame, nor for shyness.

All she needed to do was cling to her and call out her lover’s name to her heart’s content.

Inside the room, the increasingly dense scent of pheromones—grapefruit, red wine—mingled, lingering long…

The warmth of the hibiscus tent1, passion entwined as snow melts, like an endless spring.

    Waking up the next day.

Fu Chaoyun found that Pei Xuezhi wasn’t beside her. Just then, a sound came from inside the room; Pei Xuezhi had entered.

Pei Xuezhi was fully dressed. Even though they had barely exchanged a few words last night and had been at it for a long time, Pei Xuezhi’s complexion looked exceptionally good this time, like a spirit who had absorbed human essence2.

Fu Chaoyun was still drowsy and wanted to pull the person into her embrace—it wasn’t that she, the Alpha, was incapable, but the repeated splits during this period had truly thrown her into constant internal turmoil.

Pei Xuezhi pushed her away gently, not letting her hug. She still carried the chill from outside.

    “Get up,” Pei Xuezhi said.

    “What for?”

Muttering, the Alpha’s body, however, honestly followed the other’s command.

Once she was fully dressed, Pei Xuezhi helped Fu Chaoyun tidy her hair and added a scarf around her neck—these were all things Fu Chaoyun used to do.

The Alpha wouldn’t act spoiled due to favor. Instead, she also put a red one on Pei Xuezhi, complementing the ginger-yellow one around her own neck, calling them a couple’s set.

Pei Xuezhi glanced at her but said nothing.

    A tacit approval.

Only, within those ink-jade-like black eyes, there seemed to be a hint of shimmering starlight.

After breakfast, the two went outside, walking along the path they had taken yesterday.

“Why did you suddenly wake up?” Pei Xuezhi asked.

Regarding the Scum A, regarding that younger, seventeen-year-old Fu Chaoyun… both were well aware, tacitly avoiding the subject.

The System was still in Pei Xuezhi’s mind at this moment. It wasn’t that it didn’t want to go back, but when the two were… busy… yesterday, it was preoccupied with self-imposed isolation (see no evil). Now was actually a good time to return, but it still remembered Pei Xuezhi’s displeasure when she discovered Fu Chaoyun chatting with it earlier, so it didn’t dare act recklessly for the time being.

“It wasn’t sudden,” Fu Chaoyun said. “I’ve been watching all along.”

What she had achieved with the Scum A, with her seventeen-year-old past self… she couldn’t explain these specific situations in detail to Pei Xuezhi. It was unclear whether she was changing the subject or if her clingy habit was resurfacing.

In a few moments, Fu Chaoyun leaned close to Pei Xuezhi’s ear again. A section of the ginger-yellow scarf drooped onto Pei Xuezhi’s shoulder, carrying Fu Chaoyun’s warmth.

“I’m so jealous,” she whispered, calling out, “Pei-jie.”

    Deliberately imitating a voice.

Pei Xuezhi paused, then couldn’t help but start laughing. The gloom that had been pressing on her brow for days finally dissolved, dissipating, revealing her originally clear, beautiful, and captivating features. Her unique aura also emerged.

Thus, the Omega before her became even more beautiful and charming.

The Alpha saw it all, yet still pressed on relentlessly, “Doesn’t Zhizhi have anything to say to me?”

Oh, so now she knew to change the form of address.

Give her an inch, and she’ll take a mile!

“Come with me.” She went to take Fu Chaoyun’s hand again.

Both were wearing gloves. Fu Chaoyun was the clever one; after a thought, she took off the gloves from their clasped hands, then tucked both Fu Chaoyun’s hand and her own into her coat pocket.

Fu Chaoyun glanced at her but didn’t stop her.

All the way, her hand was warmed by Pei Xuezhi, enveloped… until the two of them walked together to the tree they had seen yesterday.

    “Wait here.”

Pei Xuezhi said, withdrawing her hand. She tiptoed and gently broke off a branch from the drooping boughs of the withered tree.

The tree was somewhat tall, requiring her to stand on her tiptoes slightly. Seen like this, she looked unexpectedly playful and lively, truly like a high school student.

At the same time, she broke it off with extreme care.

With a tiny “kachak” sound, when she plucked it, a handful of fresh, white snow still rested on the tip of the branch.

Fu Chaoyun had been standing beside her, watching.

And Pei Xuezhi, holding the broken-off section, handed this branch, along with the snow on it, to Fu Chaoyun.

Snow had started falling again at some unknown point. It wasn’t heavy, just light and fluttering, adding a few more layers of romance to this silver-clad white scene.

Fine snow landed on Pei Xuezhi’s hair tips, eyelashes… Compared to the original whiteness of her skin, it seemed slightly inferior, instead making her lips appear redder, her hair blacker.

Her eyes were also black. As the fine white snowflakes drifted past, the gaze from those dark, lacquer-like eyes was so focused and earnest. It remained so until Pei Xuezhi spoke, and the snow, as if showing favoritism, landed on her bright red lips.

Wanting to be eaten, tasted by the beauty.

    “For you.”

Amidst the swirling snow, in Fu Chaoyun’s heart and eyes, there was room only for this one person.

    No need for more words.

—Me too, I miss you so much, I like you.

The drifting snow reflected the faint orange glow of sunrise. Pei Xuezhi grasped that branch tip with her ungloved hand, and Fu Chaoyun clasped both the snowy branch and Pei Xuezhi’s hand together.

In the snowy land of the border town, it was still cold. Pei Xuezhi’s snow-white skin on her hand was tinged slightly red from the cold, yet Fu Chaoyun’s embrace didn’t warm her much.

    It was still icy.

It turned out that the moment Pei Xuezhi reached out her hand, she too had extended hers.

Perhaps she had been waiting all along, or perhaps she didn’t know what the other person was about to do… just wanting to face and bear it together with her.

Fu Chaoyun held that snowy branch, sniffed it lightly, and seemed to faintly catch a fragrance.

    Grapefruit scent.

No longer crisp or slightly tart, but rich and sweet…

Then, the fragrance grew stronger. Amidst the snowy scene, Fu Chaoyun leaned in and kissed Pei Xuezhi’s lips.

    The entanglement deepened…

    No.

It wasn’t just “like,” it was “I love you.”

This was Pei Xuezhi’s unique, romantic confession meant for her alone, so Fu Chaoyun’s reply was—

    I love you too.

The blazing, entangled pheromones eventually swirled away with the wind and snow to some unknown, distant place. Amidst the sparse snow, only two figures could be seen, snuggling and walking side by side.

    “What are your plans next?”

“Let’s play. I went through such a huge ordeal, finally managed to trick Madam Fu and Young Master Fu back. Of course, I need to unload my burdens, relax properly for a while. After all, I’m still young.”

Someone was actually still quite bothered by it.

Pei Xuezhi’s curved eyes were full of tenderness. “Okay.”

“I’ll listen to whatever Jiejie says.”

Indulge her for a while too, together with her Fu Chaoyun.

The wind and snow fluttered. The footprints left by the two were soon covered by a new layer. The susceptibility periods in the A/B/O world were truly endless, so shameless. The System was once again in a shielding3 state.

It was warm and cozy in the room, but it didn’t dare to look, only staring outside, its mind still pondering—these two were good again, so its previous blunder could probably be glossed over, right?

    Probably… right?

What auspicious words should it say when they get married?

【A hundred years of happy union, growing old together, forever of one heart, may you soon have an honored son4…】The System mimicked, its eyes suddenly lighting up.

    【That’s right!】

【Congratulations, congratulations, ending with sprinkled flowers~!5

The author has something to say:

Thank heavens, I’ve finally finished writing it properly!

I’ll rest for two days (figuratively speaking), and then start on the extras. The miscellaneous extras will probably add up to about 40,000-50,000 words. Since it’s already so long, a little longer doesn’t matter, at least let’s write it completely.

I will indicate the general content direction in the titles of the extras for easy judgment. Everyone, please purchase according to your discretion, roar~!?

Ahhh thanks for finishing the main text, waiting excitedly for the extras. I want to see jealous Fu Chaoyun (not the younger version) tbh, and know how the three versions of her managed to teach a consensus. Ahhhh no matter what the extras about, looking forward to them!

    Note
