    Extra Chapter 2

    Foul Play

In the height of summer, the evening breeze was hot and dry.

A soft and moist sensation lingered on the fingertips.

Jian Qing’s ears turned red as she withdrew her hand. Her gaze wandered for a moment before settling on the sunset sky, not daring to look at Lu Yinxi again.

Lu Yinxi swallowed the grape, her eyes twinkling with a smile as she looked at Jian Qing. She leaned close to her ear, smugly saying, “Teacher Jian, you lost.”

The breath on her ear, along with the hot evening breeze, melted into her body.

Jian Qing glanced at Lu Yinxi, her mind wandering, but her face remained composed as she calmly denied, “I didn’t lose.”

Lu Yinxi peeled a grape and held it to Jian Qing’s lips, still smiling brightly: “Teacher Jian, how can you be so thick-skinned? That’s not fair.”

It was clear she couldn’t even look at her now.

Jian Qing maintained her composure, looking at Lu Yinxi without a word, denying her statement through action.

Lu Yinxi wrinkled her nose, meeting Jian Qing’s gaze.

They looked at each other, their gazes intertwining.

Three seconds later, they couldn’t help but slowly lean closer.

Lu Yinxi, looking at Jian Qing’s red lips, softly said, “I want to pause the role-playing game.”

With that, she quickly leaned in, kissed Jian Qing’s cheek, and then pecked her soft lips.

Before Jian Qing could reciprocate, she smiled and announced, “Alright, game resumed. Teacher Jian, please continue to follow the game rules.”

Jian Qing, having been taken advantage of by Lu Yinxi, pressed her own lips with her hand. Looking at Lu Yinxi, she wanted to say that she was the unfair one, but held back.

She was magnanimous and wouldn’t quibble with a child.

That night, before bed, Lu Yinxi handed her body lotion to Jian Qing: “Help me apply it.”

Jian Qing refused: “You broke the rules.”

If she directly undressed in front of her, she wouldn’t be able to remain indifferent.

She wasn’t “Liu Xiahui” (a historical figure known for his self-control and chastity).

“Fine then.” Lu Yinxi abandoned this seduction tactic and glanced around the dressing table, picking up a set of lipsticks. “Let’s try on some lipstick shades together. I recently bought many new ones.”

Jian Qing’s eyes showed a hint of disdain: “We’d have to remove it after trying. Too troublesome.”

“You’re the biggest trouble.” Lu Yinxi let out a light huff, pulling Jian Qing to bed. “Let’s not play those games anymore. Time to sleep.”

Lying in bed, Jian Qing placed her hand on Lu Yinxi’s waist, her fingertips lightly tapping her dimples, and asked, “Is the game over?”

“Not yet, we’ll continue tomorrow.” Lu Yinxi sensed Jian Qing’s intention and held her hand, chuckling softly, “If you don’t want to continue this game, you have to admit that you lost.”

In the darkness, Jian Qing weighed her options for a moment, then gave a soft “Mm” and admitted, “I lost.”

“If you lose, you must accept the punishment,” Lu Yinxi pressed further.

    “What’s the punishment?”

Lu Yinxi rolled on top of her, burying her face in Jian Qing’s neck, kissing it softly, and mumbled, “Your punishment is to stay still. Only I can move…”

In the height of summer, the air was dry. Even with the air conditioning on, they were covered in sticky sweat after finishing.

Their bodies slick and damp, Jian Qing fought off drowsiness as she and Lu Yinxi went to the bathroom to shower.

Lu Yinxi massaged her sore arms, still chattering about what had happened earlier, saying things like “don’t be a ‘dead duck with a hard mouth'” (an idiom meaning stubborn denial), “your willpower is quite weak when it comes to me,” “you’ve been eyeing me for a long time in that world”…

Jian Qing flicked water at her face, trying to shut her up.

With water droplets on her face, Lu Yinxi wiped it off and continued talking non-stop, “Did you fall in love with me at first sight when you saw my billboard?” “It seems I’m your ideal type”…

Unable to out-talk her, Jian Qing directly kissed her, sealing her lips.

On the second night of their vacation, Jian Qing got her revenge by locking Lu Yinxi in the study.

Papers scattered on the floor from the desk, Lu Yinxi lay on the table, her shirt buttons methodically undone by teeth.

As the passion subsided and drowsiness set in, before falling asleep, she uttered a threat: “Just you wait!”

Jian Qing stayed by her side, waiting for her to wake up.

Then, she turned her over and teased her again.

The next morning, they squeezed into the bathroom, standing side by side in front of the mirror, brushing their teeth.

The electric toothbrushes buzzed. Jian Qing looked at Lu Yinxi in the mirror, and Lu Yinxi looked at Jian Qing.

Jian Qing wiggled her left ear, then her right, then both together, amusing Lu Yinxi.

Lu Yinxi, watching the person in the mirror, her eyes sparkling, grinned widely, showing her big white teeth.

She spat out the foam, rinsed her mouth, then pounced on Jian Qing, biting her left ear gently like a small animal.

Jian Qing froze, her right ear stopping its movement. With the toothbrush still in her mouth, she mumbled unclearly, “Are you a dog?”

Lu Yinxi released Jian Qing’s ear and tapped her forehead: “Because last night, you made me so angry I could ‘grind my teeth’!” (an idiom expressing extreme anger or frustration)

Maliciously teasing her all over, yet refusing to truly give in to her.

Only when she lost her senses, embarrassed yet unable to control herself, hazily begging in her ear, did this person finally take action.

Jian Qing wiggled her ears again, knowing she was in the wrong, and said nothing.

After the experience in the study, at night, they stayed together in the study, one reading academic papers, the other watching a movie with headphones on.

Jian Qing, reading the papers, suddenly blurted out: “Stay away from me.”

The person who had just showered was still emanating heat.

Lu Yinxi took off her headphones and fiercely threatened: “Say that again if you dare!”

Jian Qing softened her voice: “I can’t concentrate with you nearby.”

Lu Yinxi was stunned for a second, then let out an “Oh!” and moved a bit further away. She looked at Jian Qing from a distance, smiled, and lowered her head to look at her tablet.

The movie playing on the tablet was a tragedy, but she kept smiling, unable to control it.

It really was difficult to concentrate.

Lu Yinxi hugged her tablet and voluntarily isolated herself, going to play on the balcony.

She thought they could get two cats to divert some attention from each other.

Jian Qing, on the other hand, had a hobby of wood carving that could divert her attention. She was now skilled at carving animals and human figures.

After regaining her memories, she had wanted to delete the social media post she had shared with Lu Yinxi, but Lu Yinxi wouldn’t let her.

This person always appeared shrewd and domineering, it was rare to see her act foolishly, which was quite adorable.

When Jian Qing was teaching elective courses, Lu Yinxi would sneak into her classroom during busy times, sit in the last row, and listen to her lecture.

Teaching was her weak point. Like many doctors who also taught at the medical school, her classes weren’t particularly interesting, mostly consisting of reading from PowerPoint slides, which could be monotonous and dull.

Yet Lu Yinxi found it fascinating, even the chemical formulas on the PowerPoint became cute.

The female student sitting next to her struck up a conversation: “You look a lot like an actress.”

Lu Yinxi lowered her voice, casually replying: “I’m wearing a mask, how can you tell what I look like?”

Over the years, the on-screen characters she portrayed often differed greatly from her own personality and temperament. Off-screen, she was like a different person. Plus, she always kept a low profile when going out, without makeup, dressed casually in T-shirts and jeans, not particularly coordinated. When shopping at supermarkets or malls, no one would recognize her; passersby just saw her as an attractive ordinary person.

Occasionally, she would be caught on camera and recognized, asked for photos.

The female student said: “You resemble a certain female celebrity. By the way, which major are you in?”

Lu Yinxi lied through her teeth: “I’m a sophomore in the Literature Department next door. I heard this teacher lectures well, so I came to listen.”

“Don’t listen to their nonsense. This teacher just reads PowerPoint slides, but she’s the best-looking teacher in our Medical School. Even if she were reciting sutras, everyone would love to listen.” The female student was eager to continue, “You Literature Department people really have an aura about you. Little junior, I’m in the Clinical Medicine program. Want to add each other on WeChat and get to know each other?”

Before Lu Yinxi could respond, Jian Qing on the podium stopped, took a sip of warm water from her thermos, and called out: “The girl in the black T-shirt in the last row, please stand up and answer my question.”

Lu Yinxi looked at the female student, her eyes filled with schadenfreude: “The teacher is calling on you to answer a question.”

The female student stood up, nervously pinching the hem of her pants, and after a moment of silence, weakly said: “Teacher… I’m sorry, I was distracted for a moment. Could you repeat the question?”

Jian Qing ignored her, expressionless, and called on Lu Yinxi: “The girl in white next to her, can you answer for her?”

Jian Qing’s previous question was: In clinical practice, why do we need to pay attention to “seeing urine before supplementing potassium” for patients with low blood potassium?

Lu Yinxi had been listening all along and naturally heard this question. She stood up and answered: “Because potassium is mainly excreted through urine. For patients with low urine output, supplementing potassium might lead to excessive potassium in the body, which in turn could cause hyperkalemia. Therefore, when supplementing potassium, we need to ensure that the patient’s urination is normal, hence ‘seeing urine before supplementing potassium’.”

“I wasn’t being loud or playing with my phone. From beginning to end, I was looking at Teacher Jian on the podium, only at Teacher Jian, listening attentively to her lecture. How did I disrupt the class order?”

Jian Qing calmly said: “Flirting, ‘sending autumn waves’ (an idiom meaning to make eyes at someone), harboring ill intentions.”

She used three idioms in a row.

With no one else around, Lu Yinxi hugged Jian Qing’s arm, leaned in, and kissed her cheek, smiling brightly: “Then did you receive the ‘autumn waves’ I sent you?”

Jian Qing stopped walking, looking down at Lu Yinxi: “No.” She pointed at her lips, “It should be here.”

Lu Yinxi smiled gently and pressed her lips to the corner of Jian Qing’s mouth.

    A soft and warm sensation.

She wrapped one arm around Lu Yinxi’s waist, pulling her close, turned her face, moved away from the corner of her lips, brushed past them, and kissed Lu Yinxi’s burning ear.

It was just a light kiss, with no further inappropriate actions.

After the kiss, they stood in the night, quietly embracing, feeling each other’s heartbeats.

The night breeze was gentle, the lakeside silent with no human voices, only the incessant sounds of insects and birds.

The sweetness of love made Lu Yinxi feel dizzy, wanting to transform into a soft, boneless vine, entwining around Jian Qing, never to leave.

This infatuation was thoroughly shattered when they reached a braised meat shop.

Jian Qing stopped in front of the shop and bought half a jin (250 grams) of braised pig ears.

Lu Yinxi, smelling the braised spices, asked dazedly: “What are you buying pig ears for? As a snack with alcohol? Who drinks red wine with pig ears?”

Jian Qing turned to look at Lu Yinxi: “Didn’t you say your teeth were itching to bite ears? Let you bite to your heart’s content.”

    Lu Yinxi: !
