Yu Wanyan relayed Zhen Zhen’s words, Xin Lan nodded and stepped back several paces.
In an instant, more than ten ghost shadows appeared at the narrow stairway entrance, squeezing and pressing against each other as they pounced toward the person lying on the ground.
Qi Haolin let out a piercing scream, and the sound of flesh being chewed that rang through the air made one’s hair and bones terrified.
His body was surrounded by that group of female ghosts, without even a crack showing, Xin Lan couldn’t see, but could imagine what kind of scene it was.
The painful screams gradually grew quieter, then directly disappeared.
When one of the female ghosts lifted her face, Xin Lan discovered it wasn’t that Qi Haolin didn’t want to scream anymore, but rather his tongue had been eaten directly.
More than ten ghosts eating one person was very fast; even though Qi Haolin was a sturdy built man, in less than two minutes, only a skeleton remained.
This process of torture was still brief, but at least it had let him taste what suffering was.
Ling Jiu: Host, it’s done, call me when it’s time to leave!
Ling Jiu knew Xin Lan still had unfinished business, so after delivering the message, they vanished.
Xin Lan watched the white bones on the ground, then witnessed those bones disappear.
Ren Difei remained silent, standing awkwardly in place.
He twisted his clothing hem, speaking before Xin Lan could open her mouth.
“That… how about… I do it myself?”
When Ren Difei spoke, his voice was stuttering, his body also trembling along.
He was truly scared, watching how Xin Lan made people climb up only to pull them down, just like a devil.
Seeing that group of ghosts eat a living person completely clean, he became even more afraid.
If he had to die, he hoped he could die quickly and cleanly.
Ren Difei laughed bitterly in his heart, he was originally the weakest one, if not for clinging to the right thigh, he might not have even made it to the third floor.
“How would you do it yourself?”
Xin Lan raised her eyebrows, watching Ren Difei pretend to be calm.
Ren Difei began to consider methods of death, the quickest would naturally be cutting his throat, but there seemed to be no knife here, and the kitchen he’d just seen had none either.
The more Ren Difei thought, the paler his face became – without any tools, how could he commit suicide? Did they want him to crash into a wall to death? Wouldn’t that be too painful?
Xin Lan found Ren Difei’s behavior somewhat amusing, but seeing her smile made Ren Difei’s heart even more panicked.
“You can go out.”
Xin Lan lifted her chin toward Ren Difei.
“Me?” Ren Difei pointed at himself with widened eyes, “Surely I won’t have to play that one-minute game too?”
Ren Difei was truly frightened, afraid that just as he was about to walk out, fate would grab him by the neck and forcefully drag him back.
“Before I change my mind, hurry up.”
Xin Lan couldn’t be bothered with sentimentality, if Ren Difei kept dawdling, she would just kick him out.
Ren Difei’s inner feelings were complicated, simultaneously experiencing panic, fear, doubt, and gratitude. When passing by Xin Lan, his legs turned soft.
Xin Lan watched him climb up step by step. Originally, she hadn’t planned to bring anyone along, and had prepared for everyone here to be wiped out.
One could only say that having good eyes and behaving obediently was still likeable, perhaps good luck would come sometime.
Xin Lan had no intention of prying into this game’s secrets, nor was she interested in this third floor. If at first in the school campus she wanted to escape while abusing scum, this time she just wanted to abuse scum and couldn’t be bothered to clear the levels.
She thought perhaps she had done too many missions, making her increasingly prone to feeling fatigue.
This kind of repeatedly surviving as different people, playing different roles, easily became tiring after many times.
Before leaving, Xin Lan specifically said thank you to Yu Wanyan.
“Thank you very much for your help. After I leave, you can eat me.”
There was nothing else to say. When Yu Wanyan told her she wouldn’t leave, Xin Lan could only use this body to make a final report.
“No need.”
Yu Wanyan curved her eyes, her body gradually becoming transparent.
Xin Lan wanted to say something more, but heard Ling Jiu announce the logout time had arrived, and her consciousness was extracted.
When Xin Lan came out from the mission room, her mood was still not good.
She didn’t like owing favors, especially ones that couldn’t be repaid.
“Host, this time wasn’t bad either, the energy points have all been credited to your account!”
“Mm.”
Xin Lan nodded, but didn’t check, instead going straight back to her room.
Because of Yu Wanyan, she felt somewhat agitated.
It wasn’t that she was being stubborn, just that owing unreturnable favors was really terrible.
The most distressing thing when Xin Lan played the villain was when loyal subordinates died for her. Before, there was no choice, it was something villains had to sacrifice, but now having a choice, how did it still end up like this.
Xin Lan undid her long hair, frowning as she mussed it up.
Perhaps it was time to apply for some relief, those recurring feelings of anxiety weren’t good either.
While Xin Lan’s mood was poor, Wan Yan on the other side wasn’t doing any better. Thinking of the zero progress in the mission world, the frustration in her heart was about to overflow. She immediately arranged to meet her friend – she had to vent.
“What? You’re saying you made zero progress in any world?!”
Chengzi slammed the table, wearing an expression of being bitter that iron cannot become steel.
Wan Yan nodded, her beautiful face showing no emotion, but inside her heart was storm-crying.
She hadn’t expected things to turn out this way either.
“Wait… I mean… didn’t you give yourself psychological suggestions before going in?”
Although non-host carried systems would have their memories cleared when entering mission worlds, one could still add some psychological suggestions.
“I did.”
Wan Yan nodded, getting a headache remembering her psychological journey in the mission world.
“If you already added them, you should have made a move, how did nothing happen?”
Wan Yan told Chengzi about the contents of the previous mission, and Chengzi’s face showed shock.
“This is my first time seeing someone wanting to pursue romance in a supernatural world, isn’t that kind of problematic?”
“It was her system that chose it.”
“Couldn’t you communicate with her system and change to a romance novel instead?”
“That wouldn’t be good…” Wan Yan hesitated, “She definitely wouldn’t be happy if she found out.”
“Just keep bottling it up then, you’ll suffocate yourself sooner or later.”
Chengzi took a bite of the squid skewer in front of her, this fellow just doesn’t understand romance.
Wan Yan lowered her brows, looking deeply troubled.
“You’ve decided on this one, no changes?”
Chengzi swallowed the squid in her mouth as she asked.
Because the other party was a mission participant, Chengzi hoped Wan Yan would be cautious.
She had known Wan Yan for a long time. Wan Yan was the type of system that was rather cold and quiet, looking like a serious AI at first glance, but after long association, one would discover she was actually reserved yet passionate and somewhat tsundere.
As a good friend, she still hoped Wan Yan’s love could take root and sprout, and absolutely not die halfway. The hosts who had failed on the forum were good examples.
“No changes.”
Wan Yan poked at the dessert in front of her with a spoon.
“You know what? Even when I watch her beat people up, I think she’s unrivaled in coolness.”
“Do you know what kind of person she likes?”
“No, but I can try everything.”
Wan Yan had planned it all: pure loli, young girl, mature sister, cold and aloof, bewitching, sweet and lovely – surely one type would move Xin Lan!
“Then you need to work hard! Try to win her over soon!”
“Right now I just want to get a bit closer to her.”
Wan Yan felt somewhat helpless, she had no experience and didn’t know how to encounter people.
But opportunities often appear unexpectedly before people.
Wan Yan sat in the café, and saw the woman walk in.
Xin Lan had just come from the psychological counseling room, having relieved her recent feelings of anxiety, now feeling quite peaceful.
She placed her order, and when raising her head, discovered someone watching her across the way.
The appearance seemed somewhat familiar, as if they had met before.
That person smiled at her, ice-blue eyes shining brightly.
Xin Lan politely nodded in response, waiting for the robot to bring coffee and desserts.
Wan Yan discovered that last time, Xin Lan had also sat in the same position, looking at her like this.
The café’s music was soothing, as Wan Yan lowered her head sending messages on the light screen.
A-05: What kind of world will you choose next time?
Ling Jiu: Not decided yet.
A-05: Will it be another supernatural world?
Ling Jiu: Probably not. Ma’am, which worlds have higher completion rates?
A-05: Entertainment circle, interstellar, western fantasy all have good completion rates. Entertainment circle has the highest.
For face-slapping department mission participants, the entertainment circle is a world where missions are relatively easy to complete. Often they transmigrate into scandal-ridden stars or vases [花瓶 | huāpíng | metaphor for beautiful but talentless], and can completely utilize excellent acting skills and superior abilities to achieve reversal.
Ling Jiu: Then let’s choose this type for the next one, let my host relax a bit.
Ling Jiu started selecting, but found entertainment circle missions were exceptionally competitive. She used the fastest hand speed to grab a mission, but looked somewhat dazed after seeing it.
Ling Jiu: Ma’am, I’ve sent you the mission coordinates. I’ll notify you again when it’s time to depart.
A-05: Alright.
Wan Yan opened those coordinates, and was somewhat surprised when she saw the identity.
Face-slapping department’s original mission targets were usually either vases, has-been actresses, or D-list celebrities, but this mission Ling Jiu got…
Wan Yan put away the light screen, watching the woman drinking coffee gracefully across from her.
Originally thought she could become something like a wealthy patron, but now it seemed it wouldn’t be easy.
When Xin Lan left, she saw that person still sitting across, sometimes quietly gazing in her direction, yet the gaze didn’t feel uncomfortable.
That person, seeing her leave, waved goodbye.
Xin Lan smiled faintly and nodded, walking out of the café.
Perhaps the psychological counseling room really worked – even having someone stare at her didn’t make her feel agitated anymore.
When Xin Lan returned, Ling Jiu excitedly came forward saying she had bought many ingredients.
“Don’t you think we’d be suitable for an apocalyptic world?”
At least with Ling Jiu, food that would be scarce in the apocalypse wouldn’t be lacking here.
“Good idea, I’ll look for one next time.”
Ling Jiu spoke while following Xin Lan into the mission room.
The next moment everything spun, and Xin Lan found herself standing before a door. The door’s soundproofing wasn’t great, letting through ambiguous sounds.
The original host’s memories flooded in, and Xin Lan began to sort through them quickly.
Xin Lan: Isn’t this supposed to be an ex-girlfriend series mission?
How come in the original host’s memories, she’s still the current girlfriend?
Ling Jiu: The original host only became an ex-girlfriend before death. If we set the point to then, it would be too late, so this was chosen as the mission node.
Xin Lan understood, taking out her phone from her bag.
The original host still shared her name, with the identity of a talent manager.
Ling Jiu: Host, I’m sorry, my hand speed wasn’t fast enough, but I’ve clearly been single for so many years! Other hosts in the entertainment circle are all top actors or actresses, or at least has-beens or scandal-ridden starlets, or even D-list celebrities would be fine. I don’t know how I drew this one whimper qwq
Xin Lan didn’t feel there was anything wrong. She opened her phone’s video recording function and opened the door in front of her.

Welp new world, the last one was interesting but it felt very rushed, I actually sort of liked the mysteries but then they were speed ran and mc and female lead didn’t actually grow closer but mc does seem to be having an awakening toward her feelings, but it still wasn’t that good tbh, welp this seems to be the world where mc will finally like the Female lead ? Maybe ? Will FL br an actress under mc ?
Welp I am kinda pissed female lead still hasn’t made a move on their real system world lol.
Welp EC QT worlds are always pretty fun, let’s see how mc handles herself finally in a modern world cuz the last 3 worlds didn’t really let mc shine much.
