After Being Scummed – Chapter 1.2

Ms. Yin, please rest assured, I didn’t see anything

That was a private party hosted by a prominent director, and it was her first time losing her composure, dragging Xiao Nian to attend. However, in the backyard of the villa, Xiao Nian, who had always been obedient, got into an argument with her.

In the chilly backyard, Xiao Nian’s voice was as cold as the wind: “Ms. Yin, our relationship has always been contractual, and it reached its conclusion last year. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and I’ve been working hard to earn money for you in return for the fame and fortune you provided.”

“I used to make choices like this before, but I don’t want to continue like this anymore. I have someone I truly love now, and I genuinely want to end this relationship. Even if you try to suppress me, hide me, or use every means to control me, I still want to leave you!”

“Do you understand?”

Xiao Nian’s determination was so strong that even though Yin Bai knew her personality well, she was deeply hurt. Leaning on her cane, she held Xiao Nian’s hand and felt an icy chill throughout her body.

Yin Bai struggled to hold back but eventually couldn’t, her eyes glistening with tears as she said, “I thought… between us, at least… there was a little bit of love…”

Xiao Nian took a deep breath, biting her lip as she looked at Yin Bai, a mix of pity and sympathy in her gaze. She said, “Yin Bai, I truly appreciate you, I do. But… I’ve never loved you. I can sacrifice everything for my choices – my pride, my soul, my… everything.”

“But I can’t deceive you, and I can’t deceive myself… I’ve never loved you, I simply haven’t.”

Xiao Nian reached out and gently pushed away Yin Bai’s hand, quietly telling her, “Let go. If you want to seek revenge, then seek it from me. It’s my fault, you’re a good person, but I can’t respond to your love.”

As her hand slipped away, there was a moment when Yin Bai’s mind went blank, feeling like she had plunged into an abyss.

She finally panicked, letting go of her cane, and reached out with both hands to grasp Xiao Nian’s hand, tightly holding onto her arm, pleading in distress, “I know you love Lu Qing. I don’t… I don’t mind that you love her…”

“But can you please not leave me?”

“I have money… a lot of money… you can be with her, I’ll give her money for her films, you can be her leading lady, nothing has to change…”

Yin Bai’s words were incoherent, a desperate last-ditch effort: “So, can you, can you please not leave me?”

Xiao Nian looked at her quietly, her tearful eyes very gentle, “Don’t be like this… don’t be like this… Yin Bai…”

“You deserve someone better… I don’t love you… I’m not worth it…”

In the end, Xiao Nian pushed away Yin Bai’s hand and left her standing there, without looking back.

Yin Bai finally understood her determination. Even though she had said such absurd and ridiculous things, Xiao Nian remained unmoved. No matter what she did, she couldn’t hold onto her anymore.

She stood in place, watching Xiao Nian leave, filled with a bitter and unexpressed sadness. She wanted to cry but felt too disheveled. She even considered making harsh threats, like ruining Lu Qing and Xiao Nian if Xiao Nian left her.

But every time she thought of Xiao Nian’s resolute demeanor, where she had said she wasn’t afraid of anything, Yin Bai’s frustration grew.

She knew it all too well – no matter what she did, Xiao Nian would never be able to love her.

Yin Bai could only watch helplessly as Xiao Nian walked away, her gaze fixed on her until Xiao Nian’s figure disappeared from her sight. Then, in frustration, she picked up her cane and swept it around the scenic trees in the vicinity.

“Damn it!”

As a result of this swing, she lost her balance, and with a slip of her feet, she tumbled to the ground. When the back of her head hit the ground, Yin Bai’s mind went blank.

Clutching her cane, she sprawled on the ground, looking as disheveled as a pancake in a pan. She felt so cold all over, her heart ached and stung. Tears rolled down her eyes without restraint, and she raised her hand to wipe them away with her sleeve, trying to hide her disarray. However, the tears only flowed more fiercely, and she cried like an unwanted puppy, unable to control herself, whimpering uncontrollably.

Just as Yin Bai was unaware, the sound of high heels quietly approached. Yin Bai’s keen ears picked up the noise, and she immediately wiped away her tears, propping herself up with one hand as she stood up from the ground.

In one fluid motion, Yin Bai, with her disheveled appearance, stood in the dimly lit garden, her gaze fierce, as she looked towards the approaching person.

The footsteps halted as the newcomer paused. She held a handkerchief in her hand and, with her delicate makeup, met Yin Bai’s gaze, her eyes showing a hint of surprise. “Director Yin…”

Yin Bai watched the woman silently, nodding casually. “Hmm.” She continued to walk forward, coldly passing by the woman, using an indifferent mask to conceal her embarrassment.

As they brushed past each other, the woman still called out to her, “Director Yin…”

Yin Bai halted her steps and turned her head towards the woman, her gaze becoming even more intense. “Miss Zuo, do you need something?”

Zuo Jingyou looked at Yin Bai’s disheveled appearance, feeling a twinge of sympathy, and offered her the handkerchief. “You should wipe your face, Director Yin… Perhaps you shouldn’t enter the venue for now. Go to the restroom first, clean up your clothes; they’re all stained.”

Zuo Jingyou paused for a moment and spoke earnestly to Yin Bai, “I’m not one to meddle, and I haven’t seen anything tonight.”

In that moment, Yin Bai felt her heart stop, taking in a sharp breath of air. She tightened her grip on her cane, looking at the beautiful woman before her, feeling as if she were a condemned prisoner, wishing she could just die right then and there.

It had truly been a dreadful evening.

Every time she thought about it, Yin Bai wished she could just die.

As these memories flooded back, Yin Bai’s overwhelming emotions were almost suffocated by her embarrassment. She raised her hand to cover her face, and a sense of regret welled up within her.

Is it still possible to cover up one’s tracks? Probably not, right? Well, just let her be damned!

Yin Bai took a deep breath, removed her hand covering her face, and instructed Zhang Yu, “Cancel all my appointments for this month, and for all business collaborations, have them contact Jin Xiangyu directly.”

Zhang Yu: “Understood.”

Yin Bai felt that this year might have been an unlucky one for her. Since the beginning of the year, she had either been dumped or had caused embarrassing incidents for others to witness. So, for the rest of the year, she decided it might be best not to go out too often.
