Volume Nine: The Years I Was a Witch
Stamina
When Wen Nuan first arrived in this mission world, before she could even properly enjoy a few years of flesh and bone kinship1 and the feeling that blood is thicker than water, it was all completely destroyed by the female lead, who was without a shred of humanity.
Back then, the hatred in her heart was even stronger than her will to do the damned2 mission. Several times, she wished she could just slaughter the female lead and give up on the mission entirely.
Although she knew what her parents had done in private, she was too attached to the warm kinship of that time, so she always held resentment and hostility towards the female lead.
But thinking about it carefully now, although she had wanted to kill the female lead, from beginning to end, she had never dealt a killing blow.
Perhaps it was because You Dai’er had treated her quite well, giving her food, giving her drink, giving her a warm place to rest, and even stepping in to help a few times when other vampires intended to harm her.
You Dai’er, this vampire, was clearly cold-blooded and merciless, fierce and cruel, yet when she treated her, she always gave her a strange feeling that was hard to describe and impossible to name.
Now, Wen Nuan finally knew what that strange feeling was.
But——
“But there were several times I was almost killed by those high-level vampires, and I never saw you step in to save me?” Wen Nuan couldn’t help but complain. “And several other times, you threw me out with your own hands and let those vampires hunt me down.”
You Dai’er naturally knew of Wen Nuan’s grudge-holding nature and was well aware that Wen Nuan would definitely remember the bad things she had done to her before.
Sorrow tinged the tips of her brows as she said solemnly, “It is right for you to resent me, because if I hadn’t done those things, you wouldn’t have been able to survive.”
Wen Nuan’s expression changed. “What do you mean?”
“Vampires cannot fall in love with humans. Otherwise, they must suffer the scorching of the blazing sun until their ashes fly and smoke vanishes.”
You Dai’er looked at Wen Nuan, the emotions in her eyes complex.
“Back then, by raising you by my side, I had already violated the most important rule in the vampire code. The Elders all demanded that I either give you the First Embrace immediately and turn you into a vampire, or drain you of your blood, leaving no one alive.”
Wen Nuan hadn’t expected there to be this kind of business in the middle of it all.
“You were still young then. If I had given you the First Embrace directly, you wouldn’t have been able to withstand my powerful bloodline and would have immediately had your body explode and die3. But if I didn’t give you the First Embrace, the Elders would have taken matters into their own hands and killed you.”
“Why?” Wen Nuan didn’t understand. “You originally planned to give me the First Embrace after I came of age. Why couldn’t they wait?”
“Two reasons,” You Dai’er said lightly. “The first reason: the descendants of the Council of Elders wanted to unite with me to breed even more powerful vampires.”
“And the second reason,” she said, pulling Wen Nuan into her arms and gently stroking the ends of her hair, “is that they discovered I was different towards you.”
The third-generation vampires were the most formidable generation in vampire history, said to possess power to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with gods. They were collectively known as the “Vampire Progenitors.”
The third-generation vampires survived for hundreds of years. Not only were they hunted and killed by hunters and werewolves in alliance, but they were also skilled at infighting and slaughtering each other, just like her and You Xi.
Although they came from the same lineage, they showed absolutely no mercy when they struck.
Before she was sealed, only she and You Xi were left of the third-generation vampires. You Xi’s strength was no match for hers, so all the vampires placed their future and hopes upon her.
You Dai’er didn’t care about these expectations. She was used to being free and unrestrained, never bound by any rules, doing as she pleased in this world.
Until she met Wen Nuan, raised the little girl by her side, and fantasized about making the little girl her bride when she grew up.
In that moment, You Dai’er tasted the feeling of being bound for the first time, and she was willing.
You Dai’er’s changes attracted the attention of the Council of Elders. They quickly discovered Wen Nuan and demanded that You Dai’er either give Wen Nuan the First Embrace immediately or kill her.
You Dai’er refused. Unable to force her, they moved against Wen Nuan directly, thinking that a little human child was not enough to be a threat and could be dealt with casually.
But they never expected You Dai’er to be so protective of Wen Nuan, preventing them from succeeding several times, until the Council of Elders worked together to hold You Dai’er back and sent high-level vampires to hunt Wen Nuan.
That was the angriest You Dai’er had ever been. She dealt with the Council’s siege and immediately rushed back to the castle, only to see the little girl, covered in blood, fighting against other vampires. In her clear eyes, there was no terror or panic, only the ruthless and fearless will to return to nothingness together4.
It was also that time that You Dai’er discovered her little girl seemed to be very powerful.
So she stopped protecting the little girl. She planned to train the little girl, to make her strong, so that even if she wasn’t around one day, the little girl could take care of herself.
Hearing all this from You Dai’er, Wen Nuan suddenly realized. “Back when I sealed you, I sensed that your power was being depleted too quickly. With You Xi’s abilities, there was no way she could have drained so much of your strength. So, back then, did you make a move against the Council of Elders?”
You Dai’er gave a short laugh, shrugged, and said nonchalantly, “Who told them not to let me be with you? I was unhappy, so I slaughtered them.”
Wen Nuan took a deep breath.
No wonder they were able to seal You Dai’er so easily. No wonder the weaker You Xi was able to injure You Dai’er.
The Council of Elders were all second-generation vampires. Although their strength was no match for You Dai’er’s, two fists are no match for four hands5. With those few vampires joining forces, they could still make You Dai’er eat a bit of bitterness6.
The Council of Elders had depleted You Dai’er’s strength, which was why they were able to seal her.
It was also because of the demise of the Council of Elders that the vampire race was completely suppressed by humans and werewolves, forced to sign the 《Covenant》, and could no longer do evil without restraint.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
If You Dai’er had told her the truth, would she still have sealed her? Wen Nuan wondered.
You Dai’er said carelessly, “It’s not like it was anything important. I was afraid I’d scare you if I told you.”
“How come you weren’t afraid of scaring me when you bit me?” Wen Nuan said, speechless.
To think she’d hidden such an important matter from her. The moment she thought of it, Wen Nuan’s anger didn’t strike from just one place7.
The System said coldly: 【And what about the times you hid things from the female lead?】
Wen Nuan: “….”
Fine.
She was just a case of one who creates their own sin cannot live8.
You Dai’er pouted. “Who’s to blame but your blood for being so delicious? I couldn’t resist.”
Wen Nuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “What does my blood taste like?”
To this day, she still didn’t know what it was about her blood that was so attractive to You Dai’er.
You Dai’er smacked her lips. “Sweet. Very sweet.”
Wen Nuan paused, raised her hand to bite the tip of her finger, and licked it. “It doesn’t taste like anything?”
She couldn’t taste any sweetness, only that the metallic taste of blood was very faint.
You Dai’er stared at the bead of blood on Wen Nuan’s fingertip and swallowed. “I think it’s very sweet.”
“Go ahead and drink.”
Wen Nuan saw the burning heat in You Dai’er’s gaze, her eager and impatient appearance.
You Dai’er received Wen Nuan’s permission and was just about to open her mouth to take the fingertip in when she saw a large, rough hand pull Wen Nuan’s hand away, and a furious shout rang out by her ear.
“YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED TO BITE MY GREAT AUNT!” Ding Nisheng threw a head of garlic at You Dai’er and threatened, “Hey, are you scared?!”
Just now, You Dai’er and Wen Nuan had walked too quickly for him to keep up. In the blink of an eye, the two of them had disappeared into the crowded street.
Ding Nisheng had been sightseeing while searching for them. He happened to pass a vegetable shop, and remembering something he had looked up on Baidu9 before, he went in and bought five jin10 of garlic to deal with You Dai’er.
As soon as he came out after buying the garlic, Ding Nisheng saw the two of them on the other side of the bridge and immediately ran onto it to chase after them.
The result was seeing You Dai’er opening her mouth to bite Wen Nuan, which scared Ding Nisheng so much that he immediately quickened his pace, sprinted over, saved Wen Nuan’s fingertip, and threw the garlic at her.
“…..” You Dai’er stared at Ding Nisheng with a dark expression, licking her dry lips. “You really want to die, don’t you?”
Daring to throw garlic at her?
And daring to snatch Wen Nuan from her hands again?!
Wen Nuan sensed You Dai’er’s killing intent, pushed Ding Nisheng away, and pulled the furious You Dai’er away with her.
Seeing Ding Nisheng about to follow, she strictly forbade him, “Don’t follow us. Find your own place to stay for the next few days. Once the ‘Fate-Binding Festival’ is over, go home immediately. Don’t come looking for me again.”
“Gunai…” Ding Nisheng had just started to call out to her when he saw Wen Nuan’s lips move.
He froze on the spot, his mind a complete blank.
Wen Nuan hurriedly pulled You Dai’er away from Xi Le Zhen11. She had temporarily sealed the male lead’s memories; otherwise, with his death-seeking attitude, You Dai’er would sooner or later be unable to resist slaughtering him.
You Dai’er truly had developed the intent to kill Ding Nisheng. If Wen Nuan hadn’t pulled her away, she really would have drained him dry, regardless of whether he was Wen Nuan’s relative or not.
“Don’t be angry with him, he was just worried about me,” Wen Nuan soothed You Dai’er. “His brain is sick, just ignore him, okay?”
You Dai’er looked at their joined hands and blinked. “Then give me a hug, and I won’t be angry anymore.”
Hearing this, Wen Nuan smiled. “Alright, I’ll hug you.”
She pulled You Dai’er into her arms. “Is this better now?”
You Dai’er decided to gain an inch and ask for a foot. “It would be even better if I could get a kiss.”
“A kiss?” Wen Nuan tilted her head to look at her. “Is just one kiss enough?”
You Dai’er lifted her gaze and bit her lip. “I want more. Will you give it to me?”
Wen Nuan raised an eyebrow. “Tell me what you want, and I’ll consider it?”
“I want you,” You Dai’er kissed the corner of Wen Nuan’s mouth, her eyes revealing desire and the momentum that it must be obtained12.
Her tone grew heavier. “I want you.”
In an instant, the atmosphere became scorching.
Wen Nuan’s eyes were deep and profound, the corners of her eyes tilting up slightly as she deliberately provoked, “You want me?”
You Dai’er said urgently, “I want you. I want you very much.”
Wen Nuan smiled without speaking. She raised a hand, caressing You Dai’er’s lips.
Her lips were exceptionally soft, like the texture of jelly.
You Dai’er couldn’t resist this subtle touch, reacting with excited goodwill.
Wen Nuan withdrew her fingertips. Seeing You Dai’er’s displeased expression, she raised an eyebrow meaningfully, feigning surprise. “You seem to be very easily satisfied?”
“Only with you,” You Dai’er smiled freely. “But right now, I need more…”
“Alright,” Wen Nuan’s tone carried an obvious seduction. “Since you’re being so obedient, I shall naturally… grant your wish.”
You Dai’er pressed closer to Wen Nuan. “What should I do?”
Wen Nuan looked into her blood-red eyes, caressed her cheek, and teased her with ill intent, “Why don’t you tell me first?”
You Dai’er’s heart and soul rippled13 from Wen Nuan’s series of intimate actions.
“Come closer to me.”
A hidden, lustful air surfaced in the depths of Wen Nuan’s eyes as the corner of her mouth hooked up. “Alright.”
For the first time, You Dai’er felt the night was so long.
She really liked Wen Nuan so, so much.
Wen Nuan was so sexy, so enchanting, so able to make one willingly submit.
She had never seen this side of Wen Nuan, as if she intended to bewitch her very heart.
Drinking blood could bring a vampire satisfaction and pleasure.
But now, the only one who could make You Dai’er feel pleasure and satisfaction was Wen Nuan.
