When the Female Lead Becomes Obsessive – Chapter 206

Volume Nine: The Years I Was a Witch

Waste

“Hiss—”

Wen Nuan was scalded awake by the sunlight.

She watched as the back of her hand was burned red by the sun, the skin next to it turning a little black from the heat. If she had woken up any later, her hand might have been cooked to a crisp.

Vampires fear the sun; it is the world’s punishment and curse upon them.

Wen Nuan’s transformation into a vampire had been too sudden, so she hadn’t had the chance to create a Sunlight Spirit-Tool. Besides, lapis lazuli was hard to find and would take some time. By the time she finished making the Sunlight Spirit-Tool, she’d probably be about ready to pass on.

After all, her time in this mission world was running out.

The system suggested: 【Then you should hide for a while. After all, you can’t see the light anymore.】

Wen Nuan: “…”

Although that was true, why did it sound so strange coming from the system?

It felt like it was cursing her.

Wen Nuan looked at You Dai’er, who was asleep beside her bed, completely bathed in the sunlight. The red stud on her earlobe sparkled, and paired with her hair, which was the same color as the light, she was so beautiful it was as if she might ascend.

Her slightly curled hair scattered by the bedside. Wen Nuan moved her fingers, enduring the searing pain from the sun to wrap a strand of it around her finger.

Her fingers burned, and the tip of her heart burned along with them.

“…Ngh…” You Dai’er’s nose twitched. She opened her eyes in a daze and looked at Wen Nuan. “Are you barbecuing meat?”

She had smelled the aroma of barbecue in her sleep.

“…” Any trace of romance Wen Nuan had felt in her heart was instantly sent packing by You Dai’er’s talk of barbecue.

She stuck out her burned finger and shoved it in front of You Dai’er’s eyes. “Right here. Want a bite?”

You Dai’er came to her senses and saw the burn on Wen Nuan’s hand. She immediately got up and pulled the curtains tight.

She bit her own wrist and held it to Wen Nuan’s lips. “Drink some. It’ll help you recover.”

Wen Nuan turned her head. “It’s a small wound, I’m fine.”

With the pain blockers from the system and a vampire’s own special regenerative abilities, it would be fine in a little while.

“It will hurt.”

Wen Nuan’s brow twitched, and she looked up at her. “What?”

“You’ll be in pain,” You Dai’er blurted out. “I can’t bear to see you in pain.”

Wen Nuan’s heart trembled, and she let out a derisive laugh. “Back then, I cried and told you I was in pain. I didn’t see you feeling sorry for me then, did I?”

A trace of discomfort flashed across You Dai’er’s face. She pursed her lips and said, “I was inhuman before. I was bad to you. I’ll change from now on.”

To hear such words from a cold-blooded, heartless vampire was truly something out of the Arabian Nights1.

Wen Nuan looked at the bitten wrist, the scent of fresh blood tempting her.

A thirst for blood is an irrepressible instinct for vampires. The lower a vampire’s rank, the more easily they are controlled by this instinct, becoming devils who drink blood and eat hair2.

Wen Nuan swallowed, her eyes gradually tinged with red.

You Dai’er could clearly sense Wen Nuan’s craving. She desperately hoped that Wen Nuan would crave her; the feeling made her feel needed by Wen Nuan again.

She could feel that Wen Nuan desperately wanted to drink her blood, but she was holding back.

A newly turned vampire from a First Embrace cannot go without blood, or they risk withering and dying from extreme weakness.

You Dai’er offered her wrist again, coaxing her, “Have a little. You’re too weak right now, and you were just burned by the sun. You have to drink some blood to recover.”

Wen Nuan pushed her away, took a deep breath, and shook her head. “I don’t want to.”

You Dai’er knew what Wen Nuan was resisting. “Don’t be afraid. Even if you drink my blood, you’re not a vampire. You’re still my little witch. You’ve never changed.”

“You’re still human.”

The only one who had changed was her.

Wen Nuan’s expression softened. She looked at You Dai’er with a complex gaze, as if trying to see right through her.

“That doesn’t sound like something you would say,” Wen Nuan said, speaking before You Dai’er could say more. “But you actually said it.”

You Dai’er pouted. “I told you, I’ll learn.”

“Learn to speak words of love?”

You Dai’er’s eyebrow shot up, and she immediately seized the horse’s hoof Wen Nuan had revealed3.

She leaned in abruptly. “So you think that was me speaking words of love, huh?”

The ambiguity was being stretched taut.

The system rolled up its sleeves: 【Host, go, we can’t lose!】

Wen Nuan didn’t shy away, allowing You Dai’er to press closer, even permitting her advance.

Lips testing, a heart starting to pound.

Just as her kiss was about to land, Wen Nuan turned her head, took her wrist, and began to lick it.

You Dai’er flinched from the licking. “What… what are you doing?”

A soft, pink tongue gently lapped at the wound she had bitten open.

It was gentle yet sensual, making You Dai’er’s heart race.

Wen Nuan’s voice was low. “Don’t let it go to waste.”

She looked up, her eyes misty. “It’d be a pity.”

You Dai’er swallowed hard.

She stared at Wen Nuan, her own eyes gradually turning red.

Desire was surging.

You Dai’er slipped onto the bed, carefully encircling Wen Nuan in her arms.

She was so focused on drinking her blood, licking her own restless heart, that she seemed to forget a ferocious beast was approaching.

You Dai’er gazed at the fair skin of Wen Nuan’s neck, like a porcelain vase.

As if bewitched, she leaned down and placed a pious kiss on that white expanse.

Wen Nuan’s brow twitched. She looked up and met her eyes. “Hm?”

You Dai’er took the opportunity to press her down onto the bed, breathing heavily. “You keep drinking, I’ll keep kissing. Neither of us will get in the other’s way.”

Wen Nuan: “…”

She’s really got it all figured out.

Wen Nuan wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and pushed You Dai’er away. “I don’t want to kiss.”

As if.

You Dai’er’s kisses just now had already gotten her worked up.

But—

She had to be the one in control.

You Dai’er was restless and uncomfortable, rubbing against her. “I won’t bite you, I’ll just lick.”

“Get up.”

“No,” You Dai’er nuzzled against Wen Nuan, burying her face in her neck. “Wen Nuan… Wen Nuan…”

Her calls were somewhat urgent.

Her movements were urgent, too.

Wen Nuan took a deep breath. “I’ll count to three.”

You Dai’er was unmoved, continuing to pester her.

“One…”

You Dai’er’s hand slipped out from under her clothes.

“Two…”

Wen Nuan’s vision blurred, and she found herself looking at You Dai’er standing by the bed, a picture of resentment and dissatisfaction.

She could almost see a tail drooping behind her.

Wen Nuan couldn’t help but chuckle. “That scared of me?”

“It’s not that I’m scared of you,” You Dai’er retorted.

“Oh?”

You Dai’er said seriously, “I’m not scared of you, I just don’t want you to be angry with me.”

“You little girl, you ignore people when you’re angry. It’s so annoying.”

Wen Nuan had always had this flaw. Back then, she had found it novel and interesting; after all, no one had ever dared to be angry with her, so for a time, it seemed quite amusing.

Now, when You Dai’er thought about how she used to find Wen Nuan’s anger interesting, she wanted to slap herself.

Wen Nuan’s lips curled. “Alright, then.”

“What?”

“Seeing as you’re being so obedient, I can grant you one small request.”

You Dai’er’s eyes lit up, like a dog that had just seen a juicy piece of meat.

Wen Nuan was already prepared for a hungry dog pouncing on its food4.

“I want to stay by your side.” You Dai’er blinked. “No matter how I make you angry, you’re not allowed to drive me away.”

She had thought it through. There would definitely be conflicts between her and Wen Nuan in the future, and with Wen Nuan’s personality, she would surely try to kick her out at the drop of a hat. She had to take precautions.

Wen Nuan had thought You Dai’er’s request would be to kiss her. She never expected this.

“Are you sure you want to make this request?” Wen Nuan reminded her kindly. “Staying by my side is something you could have done on your own.”

You Dai’er shook her head. “That’s different. Me being able to stay is because of my own reasons. Me making this request is me wanting you to let me stay.”

“The meaning is different.”

Wen Nuan raised an eyebrow slightly. “What meaning?”

You Dai’er saw that the back of Wen Nuan’s hand was almost healed, and the wound on her own wrist was beginning to scab over.

She bit her wrist open again and offered it. “One is me staying on my own initiative, and the other is you asking me to stay.”

“I like it when you take the initiative with me.”

Wen Nuan’s eyes darkened. She grabbed You Dai’er’s hand and sucked on her wrist.

The tip of her tongue was stained red. Her voice was hoarse, her eyes half-closed. “Like this?”

You Dai’er’s breathing grew ragged. She swallowed. “You could be a little more assertive.”

Wen Nuan’s fangs shot out. She bit down hard on You Dai’er’s wrist, her words muffled by the blood. “…We’ll see how you perform.”

You Dai’er wrapped her arms around her, her voice husky. “Bite harder. I like it.”

The system said with a strange expression: 【Female Lead’s blackening value has decreased. Current blackening value is 3.7!】

For some reason, it felt like the female lead of this world had a bit of an S&M streak.

Wen Nuan’s pupils contracted, a hint of a smile flashing in her eyes.

After drinking You Dai’er’s blood, the burn on the back of her hand had completely healed.

The sunlight outside the window grew stronger, its reach expanding.

Wen Nuan slowly shifted backward, and the sunlight followed, as if chasing her.

You Dai’er stood in front of Wen Nuan, casting a shadow that shielded her.

Wen Nuan watched as You Dai’er took off her short-sleeved shirt, standing before her in just a bra.

She raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”

You Dai’er didn’t answer. She held out her hand, and her nails suddenly grew long, sharp, and pointed.

With a flick of her wrist, she sliced open the scar on her chest and reached her fingers into the wound, as if searching for something.

Wen Nuan’s brow furrowed tightly as she watched.

Until she saw You Dai’er hold out a blood-stained stud earring to her.

Wen Nuan’s pupils trembled. Her voice was raspy. “Is this…?”

You Dai’er took her shirt and wiped the stud clean. Its design was revealed to be identical to the one in You Dai’er’s right ear. Anyone could tell they were a pair.

And as the person who made the earring, Wen Nuan knew for sure.

“I kept this Sunlight Stud. I was originally thinking I’d have you wear it after your First Embrace.”

Wen Nuan remembered when she had made this earring for You Dai’er. She had clearly made two, but You Dai’er had only ever worn one. As for the other’s whereabouts, she couldn’t be bothered to care.

But she never imagined that You Dai’er would hide this earring over her heart.

Saving it for so long, just for her.

You Dai’er moved closer to Wen Nuan and carefully put the earring in her right ear.

Seeing Wen Nuan wearing something that matched her own made her happy, and the corners of her mouth lifted. “It’s beautiful.”

She loved the color of blood, and red suited Wen Nuan best.

Wen Nuan’s chest surged with emotion as she looked at the still-bleeding wound.

She leaned forward and reverently kissed the wound that held an infinite heartbeat.

You Dai’er’s body stiffened. She was about to move but was held fast by a hand on her waist, the searing hot pads of fingers caressing her sensitive flesh.

In the blink of an eye, the world turned upside down.

The moment You Dai’er was lying on the bed, she felt like she was being stripped bare by Wen Nuan.

Wen Nuan’s hot, ragged breaths were by her ear, husky and short.

“…Don’t let it go to waste.”
