When the Female Lead Becomes Obsessive – Chapter 134

Volume Six: The Years I Wasn’t Human

Older Sister’s Husband1

Spoiled?

Sang Er didn’t feel spoiled, because no matter how good she was to her, it wasn’t as good as Wen Nuan was to her.

She was an orphan. She never cared much about whether she was deliberately abandoned or if there was a reason for it. Ever since she could remember, she had grown up in a village in a mountain gully2.

She was adopted by an elderly couple. They were very good people and treated her as their own, but they were a bit poor and couldn’t afford to send her to school. They could only provide her with warmth and food, ensuring she wouldn’t go hungry or cold.

Later, the couple who adopted her passed away, and she became an orphan again. At that time, she was only ten years old. She ran out of the mountain gully and went to the city to beg.

A little child doesn’t understand the rules of the city. She accidentally occupied someone else’s territory and was then beaten violently. Slowly, in the process of being beaten, she learned to fight with others, and then to fight desperately. Relying on her life-risking fighting style, she obtained a place under a pedestrian overpass that could shelter her from the wind and rain.

During the day, she begged on the overpass; at night, she hid under the overpass to eat and sleep.

Until one day, a heavy downpour fell, and Mu Xuan came to her side.

She personally saw Mu Xuan being thrown into a trash can. The child’s heart-wrenching cries did not call back the woman who had abandoned him.

At that moment, she felt this scene was somewhat touching. She thought to herself, perhaps this was how she was abandoned?

Unable to bear it, she picked up Mu Xuan and raised him herself.

This little fellow was especially difficult to raise. He wouldn’t eat this or that, and he was particularly prone to getting sick. One time, he had a high fever that wouldn’t go down. Sang Er was terrified and carried him to a large hospital. As a result, she met a kind-hearted person who treated Mu Xuan and also sent them to a nursery.

There were many kind people there to take care of them, and the state also provided funds to support their schooling.

Sang Er’s academic performance was average. She dropped out after high school and simply worked to earn money so that Mu Xuan could live a better life. In any case, she wasn’t cut out for studying, so why waste the country’s resources.

But Mu Xuan was different. He was very smart. Whether in elementary, middle, or high school, he was always among the top few in the entire school. He even won several national-level scholarships and eventually got into a key university. It was simply bringing glory to the family name3, and it had to be her old Sang family’s name.

As for why Mu Xuan’s surname was “Mu,” it was because on the night Mu Xuan was abandoned, she heard that woman call him “Mu Xuan.” So Sang Er didn’t change his name, thinking that one day, someone might hear this familiar name and find him.

Later, when Mu Xuan learned the reason, he threw a huge tantrum at her. She got so angry that she beat Mu Xuan until he was crying for his dad and mom, hugging her thigh and wailing nonstop, “I won’t leave you, I’m not going, I’ll just be with you, Sang-jie, don’t throw me away, wuwuwu…”

After the two finished their fight, it didn’t delay Mu Xuan’s Gaokao4. He did exceptionally well, becoming that year’s Liberal Arts Zhaungyuan5 and getting into Capital University6. She also benefited from his glory7, feeling extremely proud, boasting to everyone she met about how amazing her little cub8 had become under her care.

Later on, the apocalypse descended. Many humans turned into zombies that ate human flesh and blood. The world fell into complete chaos, and everything became terrifying to the extreme, catching Sang Er off guard.

What made her even more panicked was that she had completely lost contact with Mu Xuan, and what’s more, she had been scratched and infected by a zombie.

Sang Er was abandoned by the people she was fleeing with, just like how Mu Xuan was abandoned back then, just like how, in the beginning, she was abandoned in the mountain gully to fend for herself.

Being abandoned again now, Sang Er wasn’t overly agitated or sad. Instead, she felt it was a familiar door and a familiar road. She looked at the gray, hazy sky, gave it the middle finger, and cursed helplessly, “…Fucking hell!”

Then, it was just quietly waiting for death.

However, death didn’t have time to take her away. The dusty gray sky seemed to be torn open, revealing a sliver of light that fell into her eyes and penetrated her still-beating heart.

The moment she saw Wen Nuan, Sang Er seemed to hear herself say.

“I don’t want to die.”

Then Wen Nuan picked her up.

She had a persistent high fever. Everyone was advising Wen Nuan to give up on her. She was also well aware of her own danger and understood why those people shunned her.

If Wen Nuan wanted to abandon her, she could accept it.

But, when she saw Wen Nuan stand in front of her, rejecting everyone’s advice, and protectively holding her in a strong embrace.

She thought, this person, Wen Nuan, truly is like her name9.

Warming one’s will, scalding one’s heart10.

Sang Er stuck out the tip of her tongue and gently licked the seam of Wen Nuan’s lips.

Wen Nuan raised her eyebrows slightly, surprised by Sang Er’s initiative. After all, since she and Sang Er got together, she rarely took the initiative. Basically, whatever she wanted to do, Sang Er would just silently obey her, which made Wen Nuan feel a bit nostalgic for the previous “her” who was wild beyond measure.

Now, feeling Sang Er’s initiative, Wen Nuan was very surprised.

She wrapped an arm around Sang Er’s waist, slightly parted her lips, and took the tip of Sang Er’s tongue into her mouth, chuckling lightly, “Little Ears, I’ve caught you.”

The tips of Sang Er’s ears turned red. She closed her eyes and became even more immersed in the kiss with Wen Nuan.

Chu Han was thinking of giving the fire-type crystal core to Sang Er, so he and Mu Xuan came to Building A together. As a result, the two of them saw Sang Er and Wen Nuan kissing downstairs.

Mu Xuan looked at the woman held in Wen Nuan’s arms, her face flushed red from the kiss, looking weak and powerless, and couldn’t help but say in horror, “Is that my fucking all-powerful, zombie-burning, incomparably fierce Sang-jie?”

Chu Han facepalmed, saying awkwardly, “…Yeah.”

He could actually sense the relationship between Wen Nuan and Sang Er that went beyond ordinary friends, especially the possessive look in Wen Nuan’s eyes whenever she looked at Sang Er. It was hard not to notice.

Mu Xuan swallowed, as if he had received a great shock. He staggered a bit and clutched his chest, saying, “The sky is about to rain, my sister is about to get married11.”

For some reason, between Wen Nuan and his Sang-jie, he actually felt that it was Sang Er marrying to Wen Nuan, not Sang Er taking Wen Nuan as a wife.12

“….” Chu Han handed the fire-type crystal core to Mu Xuan, “It just so happens you’re going back to the dorm. You can give the crystal core to your sister. I won’t go over.”

It wasn’t quite appropriate for him to go over and disturb them at this time. After all, he was self-aware of Sang Er’s attitude towards him.

Mu Xuan looked at the crystal core being handed over, “…Chu-ge, are you trying to harm me?!”

If he went over now, Sang-jie would roast him in minutes!

Chu Han smiled, “How could that be? I just see that you’re going back to the dorm, and it happens to be very convenient to give the crystal core to your sister. Helping others is a virtue, isn’t that great?”

Mu Xuan: “….”

Wen Nuan had long known that Chu Han and Mu Xuan were standing in the distance, but she had no time to deal with them. It was rare for Sang Er to be more proactive, and she absolutely couldn’t let those two interrupt such a good opportunity.

Fortunately, those two had some sense and had been standing in the distance without coming over.

Wen Nuan sucked hard on Sang Er’s lips, wrapped an arm around her waist, and let her whole body lean against her.

Mind in chaos, feelings entranced13.

Sang Er’s whole body was limp in Wen Nuan’s arms without any strength. Then, her body felt light as Wen Nuan lifted her up in a princess carry.

“Wen… Wen Nuan?” Sang Er’s voice was soft, “I’m too heavy, I can… I can just walk myself.”

Wen Nuan carried Sang Er into the dormitory building, “It’s fine, Little Ears is very light, I can carry you.”

She bounced Sang Er a couple of times and tightened her grip on her waist, “Hold on to me.”

Sang Er’s face reddened as she obediently wrapped her arms around Wen Nuan’s neck, “Mhm.”

Wen Nuan looked back at Chu Han and the other, shouting, “You two, come in after half an hour.”

Sang Er poked her head out to look and saw Chu Han and Mu Xuan standing in the distance. Thinking that they might have seen her and Wen Nuan kissing, the tips of her ears became even more rosy.

Hearing Wen Nuan tell them to come into the building in half an hour, she couldn’t help but wonder, “Why are you telling them to come in after half an hour?”

Wen Nuan’s lips curved into a smile, “We’re going to take a bath together.”

Sang Er shyly buried her face in her chest.

When Chu Han and Mu Xuan heard Wen Nuan’s words, they both responded, “Okay!!”

The two waited for half an hour before going to room 401 to find Wen Nuan and the other. As soon as they entered, only Wen Nuan was in the room.

Mu Xuan looked around, “Older Sister’s Husband, where’s my Sang-jie?”

Hearing his form of address, Wen Nuan smiled, “Your sister is still tidying up in the bathroom, she’ll be out in a moment.”

She looked at Chu Han, “Is something the matter?”

Chu Han handed the crystal cores to Wen Nuan, “These are all first-tier fire-type crystal cores. I have no use for them, give them to Sang Er.”

“Okay,” Wen Nuan accepted them, “Is there anything else?”

Although he was already clear about the relationship between Wen Nuan and Sang Er, he still wanted to ask.

“You and Sang Er….”

Wen Nuan smiled, “We’re together.”

Chu Han breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s great.”

He seemed to have thought of something, “Actually, you’ve liked Sang Er for a long time, haven’t you?”

“Mhm.”

“She initially thought you liked me,” Chu Han said helplessly.

After all, at that time, Wen Nuan had died to save him. Such an act made it hard for people not to misunderstand. Even he himself sometimes suspected whether Wen Nuan truly had feelings for him.

Wen Nuan glanced at the silhouette in the bathroom and licked the cut on the corner of her mouth, “She’s always overthinking things, a small bad habit.”

She also likes to bite people.

Mu Xuan’s eyes lit up. He leaned in and asked curiously, “Wen-jie14, when did you fall for my sister?”

To be honest, even though Sang Er was his sister, there was still some disparity when compared to Wen Nuan.

Although two girls falling in love was very surprising, in the apocalypse, to pursue pleasure in a timely manner is a major life event. As for who you pursue it with, that isn’t so important.

Wen Nuan’s eyes appeared hazy and distant. She chuckled lightly, “Perhaps a very long time ago.”

As early as the first time she started a mission, when the system transported her to “her” side to accompany her as she grew up, she had already silently fallen in love.

It was just that she didn’t know yet, that this love would be so deep, so long-lasting.
