Troublesome – Chapter 122

Side CP Extra

Teacher Bai, don’t be angry, you’re so beautiful!

When Hua Luo heard Bai Mao say not to be curious, she asked, “You really don’t want them?”

Even Xiao Yu, who didn’t write, liked to get resources from her, so why wouldn’t Bai Mao want them? Then she nodded. “I get it. Teacher Bai writes often, so she must read even more than I do.”

Besides, Bai Mao had always been famous for her extreme sexual tension; she had blushed all the way through the books she wrote before. They were brimming with sexual energy, so it was no wonder she didn’t want any.

She asked Bai Mao, “Teacher Bai, do you usually read that kind of stuff?”

The flush on Bai Mao’s face deepened, and the half of her face hidden inside her windbreaker turned slightly red. “I don’t.”

“So it’s all from your imagination?” Hua Luo gave a thumbs-up. “You’re so cow1, when will I ever be able to write at your level?”

Bai Mao was speechless.

She looked at the sincerely praising Hua Luo and said helplessly, “You’ll get there if you write more.”

Hua Luo muttered, “I’ve written some before.”

She giggled foolishly. “Actually, when I first started writing, I wrote meat text2.”

Bai Mao turned her head, curious. “Then why did you stop?”

Hua Luo explained, “It was too awful. I nearly threw up reading what I wrote.”

Bai Mao was speechless again.

That’s so you, she thought. Very Hua Luo!

Hua Luo, still oblivious, felt she had no talent in that area. She said, “That’s why I only dare to write a little bit of it in my current stories. I’m afraid the readers won’t like it.”

“It’s not bad,” Bai Mao said.

Hua Luo turned her head. “Huh?”

Bai Mao cleared her throat. “I said, what you write is not bad.”

She had read Hua Luo’s work. There were very few romance scenes, likely for the reason she just mentioned. She was afraid to write them, so the plot always took up the majority of the story, and for the romance, you have to dig to get the sugar3. The comments under her novels were also different from other authors’; they were all about adventures, ghost encounters, or sharing strange things they had experienced growing up.

It was completely different from the sweet and loving little theaters4 under other authors’ works.

Hua Luo scratched her head. “Teacher Bai, you actually read my novels.”

Then she remembered that Bai Mao had said before that she’d read her work, and Hua Luo felt inexplicably embarrassed. She said, “It must have been tough for you to read my novel. Let me buy you breakfast.”

What kind of logic was that?

Bai Mao couldn’t figure it out, but she didn’t refuse, either. She nodded. “Okay.”

The two took a seat. The breakfast shop was quite crowded with not many places to sit. If Hua Luo had been alone, she would have just found someone to share a table with and listened to some gossip. But with Bai Mao, she knew she didn’t like eating with strangers, so she simply said, “Should we get it to go?”

Bai Mao didn’t hesitate, nodding. “Sure.”

Hua Luo ordered two servings of preserved egg and lean pork congee5, two tea eggs6 and egg pancakes7, plus spring rolls8 and chive pockets9. After ordering, she stood in front of Bai Mao holding the bag. “All set!”

Bai Mao looked at her. It seemed that ever since they’d met, Hua Luo had always been full of vibrant energy, with endless things to say and a naturally familiar10 personality. Her smile was very cute and made people like her instantly.

Hua Luo waved. “Teacher Bai, let’s go.”

Bai Mao returned to her senses and walked toward her. After they got in the car, Hua Luo said, “This congee is delicious, and so are their tea eggs, they’re very flavorful. I wanted to buy a couple more just now, but they were sold out.”

“Do you usually eat breakfast?” Bai Mao asked curiously. She remembered Hua Luo’s schedule was very unstable, often sleeping until the afternoon. As expected, Hua Luo shook her head. “Nope.”

She even looked completely justified in saying it. Bai Mao smiled helplessly and said, “You still should.”

Hua Luo said sheepishly, “I can’t get up.”

Bai Mao shook her head and drove toward her apartment.

She had bought this apartment a few years ago when housing prices weren’t so high. Jin Shuilan had told her to buy in her neighborhood, which was in the city center and had convenient transportation, but Bai Mao preferred her own apartment’s location. It was very quiet, and there was some distance between her and the neighbors on both sides, so she wouldn’t be disturbed.

Bai Mao’s place had two floors, with a loft on top. The first floor was very large, almost four hundred square meters. The first time Hua Luo came, she was stunned. This was too amazing; it was the dream house she had always wanted to own!

Moreover, Bai Mao’s decor was done by a professional designer and was incredibly layered and magnificent, almost like an apartment from a TV show. What Hua Luo liked most was her study; it was huge, with a whole wall of bookshelves containing all sorts of books. Hua Luo had even found some old books she really wanted in there, but she was too embarrassed to take them home, so she always made excuses to come over and read them.

Bai Mao led her in. After entering, Hua Luo put down the breakfast and asked, “Can I go up?”

Bai Mao nodded. “Of course.”

“Going up” meant going to the loft. The loft wasn’t as big as the first floor and was accessed by a creamy-white spiral staircase. Up in the loft, there was only a bookshelf and a tatami11 bed. The bed was custom-made, a long bed measuring 2.5 by 3.2 meters, with custom-made covers in a cozy light gray. Hua Luo’s target wasn’t the incredibly soft-looking bed, but the cage at its edge. Inside was a little kitten, just three months old, that had just been brought home and was still a bit unfamiliar with the place. But the kitten had a good temperament and didn’t bare its teeth; instead, it looked at Hua Luo with a dazed expression.

Hua Luo’s heart melted at the sight. She couldn’t help but reach in and scoop the cat out, unable to put it down. Its little paws were so soft in her palm. Hua Luo fiercely kissed the kitten’s face and fur.

Bai Mao stood at the top of the stairs, looking up. Hua Luo’s entranced, cat-inhaling12 expression was overly cute. She smiled. “Bring it down.”

Hua Luo replied with a sound of agreement and brought the cat and the cage down, then placed the cat on the white table. The table was quite long; Bai Mao used it for both writing and eating. Next to the table was a glass door, and outside was a square glass sunroom. There wasn’t much in the room, just a lot of plants, some exercise equipment, a few lazy person sofas13 next to the treadmill, and a coffee table beside the sofas with a few books on it.

This was truly a dream layout.

Hua Luo marveled once again and said to Bai Mao, “Teacher Bai, your taste is really exceptional!”

Whether it was the decoration or the design, everything was perfect, hitting every one of her preferences. She even thought that if she had money in the future, she would replicate this house.

The prerequisite was that she had money!

Hua Luo did some calculations. Based on current housing prices, she would probably have to work hard for another forty or fifty years. Perhaps when she was old, she could sit in the sunroom and have a barbecue.

She smiled at the thought, looking a bit silly.

Bai Mao asked, “Not eating breakfast?”

Hua Luo nodded. “Coming.”

She then put down the cat, sat across from Bai Mao, and opened the breakfast bags. A fragrance immediately wafted out, the smell of the tea eggs being particularly distinct. Just as Bai Mao was about to pick one up, she saw that Hua Luo had already peeled one quickly and handed the peeled one to her.

Not only a little chatterbox but also exceptionally caring.

Bai Mao glanced at her, lowered her head, and took the tea egg, eating her breakfast in a slow and refined manner. The little kitten, smelling the food, was no longer afraid of people and trotted over to them. It sniffed Hua Luo’s congee for a moment, then Bai Mao’s spoon. Its round cat eyes saw that neither was something it liked to eat. After sniffing around, it sat down between them on the table and let out a soft meow at Hua Luo.

Its voice was soft and delicate, and Hua Luo’s heart immediately softened. She asked Bai Mao, “Teacher Bai, does this cat have a name yet?”

Bai Mao said while eating, “Not yet. I thought of a few yesterday but didn’t think they were very good.”

Hua Luo asked, “What were they?”

Bai Mao lowered her head. “They don’t sound very nice.” After a moment, she looked up at Hua Luo. “I want to call her Luoluo14.”

“The ‘Luo’ from ‘Upon the setting sun and startling billows, the terrifying waves stretch to the sky’15.”

Hua Luo thought for a few seconds. “That works! It sounds nice!”

After saying that, she lowered her head and tapped the kitten’s nose. “Luoluo.”

She turned her head. “It just sounds a bit familiar.”

She smiled. “My mom calls me Luoluo too.”

But this ‘Luo’ was different from that ‘Luo’. Seeing that she had no objection, Bai Mao lowered her head and continued eating. The little kitten had already gotten used to Hua Luo’s scent and was no longer afraid. Instead, it sat openly in front of Hua Luo, tilting its head to watch her eat breakfast. As soon as Hua Luo finished eating, she cleaned up, scooped up the kitten, and stroked its head, saying, “Teacher Bai, are you going to type16 today?”

Bai Mao nodded. “I have to revise a script.”

Hua Luo said, “I’ll type too.”

As she spoke, she put down the kitten and placed her laptop on the table. Bai Mao saw her keep glancing at the sunroom outside and asked, “Want to go out there?”

Hua Luo said, “I’ve never typed in a sunroom before. I want to see what it feels like.”

Bai Mao explained, “You can at night, but not during the day.”

Hua Luo was puzzled. “Why?”

Bai Mao glanced at her. “Go try.”

Hua Luo actually took her laptop to the sunroom. The glaring sunlight shone on the computer screen, and the reflection made it impossible for her to see anything. Hua Luo felt a sense of regret and sighed, “We have fate but no destiny17.”

Seeing her reluctant expression, Bai Mao wanted to laugh. She said instinctively, “Then you can go home later tonight and type in there for a while.”

Hua Luo was pleasantly surprised. “Can I? Won’t I be bothering you too much?!”

Her eyes lit up, just like the little kitten’s—clear, focused, and tinged with a childish cuteness. Bai Mao’s breath caught slightly. It took her a few seconds to say, “You won’t.”

Hua Luo bowed. “Thank you, Teacher Bai! Teacher Bai is the best! Teacher Bai is my god18!”

Hearing this, Bai Mao lowered her head and scratched at the hair near her throat. Although she knew Hua Luo was just the king of empty talk19, her heartbeat still quickened by a beat.

Having received permission to type in the sunroom at night, Hua Luo was no longer in a hurry to write. There was still plenty of time, so she simply held the little kitten and sat in the sunroom reading a book. It was an old horror storybook; Bai Mao actually had a whole series. Hua Luo had read two of them before but couldn’t find the complete set, so she had never read the rest. She was now reading with great interest when she suddenly smelled something.

It was stinky, very stinky, an overwhelming stench!

She turned her head and saw the little kitten kicking at the cat litter. It kicked the litter up so high that several grains stuck to its face, but the cat poop in the box remained stubbornly uncovered. The smell was overpowering. Bai Mao noticed it too. The two looked at each other, and Hua Luo said, “I’ll get it.”

Bai Mao walked over to her and watched as she covered the poop with litter. Hua Luo turned and asked, “Teacher Bai, do you have a trash bag?”

Bai Mao immediately pulled a trash bag from nearby and gave it to her. Hua Luo put the litter-covered poop into the bag and said, “I’ll go throw it out.”

Otherwise, the smell was just too much.

Bai Mao opened a window and said, “I’ll go with you.”

Hua Luo didn’t refuse. The two carried the trash bag to the garbage station area and saw a few people standing there from a distance, holding a basketball and talking as they walked. As they passed by Hua Luo and Bai Mao, one of the boys nudged the person next to him and said, “Hey, hey, the one in the white clothes is so cute!”

“Which one? The one in white? I think the one in the blue clothes is really pretty!”

“But she looks a bit high and cold20. I still like the one in white.”

The fragmented conversation didn’t reach Hua Luo. She threw away the trash and started walking back when she was suddenly stopped by a boy. “Hi, do you live here too?”

Hua Luo tilted her head. He was a rather sunny-looking boy. She shook her head. “No, I don’t.”

The boy said, “Oh,” and quickly tried to find another topic. “So you have a friend here?”

He glanced at Bai Mao, who remained silent with a tense expression. Hua Luo said, “Yeah, my friend lives here.”

The boy nodded. “Do you come over often?”

Hua Luo looked at him, her eyes clear, and asked back, “Why? Do you need something?”

The boy met her gaze. He had originally wanted to ask for her phone number, but he choked on his words. After several seconds, he finally said, “It’s nothing, nothing.”

With that, he turned and scurried back to his friends.

Hua Luo watched them go and shrugged. Bai Mao saw the group of boys pushing and shoving each other over there, lowered her head, and said, “Let’s go back.”

“Oh.” Hua Luo heard her and followed behind, her peripheral vision catching Bai Mao’s cold side profile. She asked in a small voice, “Teacher Bai, are you unhappy?”

Bai Mao’s eyes were downcast. Hua Luo was confused. “Why?”

She genuinely didn’t understand.

Bai Mao didn’t speak, her face still tense.

Hua Luo thought about the attempt to hit on her just now and immediately had a realization. She was the one who got hit on, but Bai Mao wasn’t, so she was angry? Hua Luo immediately said, “Teacher Bai, don’t be angry, that guy has no taste! Teacher Bai is so beautiful. If it were me hitting on someone, I’d pick Teacher Bai first!”

That was quite the takeaway.

Bai Mao was so angry she laughed!

The author has something to say:

Hua Luo: If it were me hitting on someone, I’d pick you first!

Bai Mao: Go on, then.

Hua Luo: …
