Do You Want It Extra
Teacher Bai, do you want it?
Hua Luo discovered that in the middle of their chat, Lu Zhenqiu had disappeared. She curiously poked Lu Zhenqiu’s profile picture.
You poked 【Zhenqiu】 and said Teacher Jin is telling you to go to bed.
Hua Luo: 【Where’d you go?】
Xiao Yu: 【Are you dense? At this hour, the two of them have probably already gone to Mount Wu together1.】
Hua Luo: 【??? Didn’t they have a fight?】
Xiao Yu: 【Argue at the head of the bed, make up at the foot of the bed2, ever heard of it?】
Hua Luo: …
She’d heard of it, but not this fast!
Xiao Yu: 【Wait, you’re a writer, shouldn’t you understand this better than me?】
Hua Luo: 【I write horror stories.】
Xiao Yu: …
Both were speechless.
Hua Luo tossed and turned, unable to hold it in: 【What position do you think they like?】
Xiao Yu: 【Are you in heat?】
Hua Luo: 【I’m just asking, I’m curious!】
Xiao Yu: 【How would I know! You want me to send you some resources?3】
Hua Luo: 【No, no.】
Her resources were much more plentiful than Xiao Yu’s. It was a necessity for writing books, and since she didn’t have a partner, it was inevitable that when a plot required an intimate scene, she had to buy resources or look for websites due to her lack of practical experience. Thinking of it, she had just recently found a new website and wondered if Lu Zhenqiu needed it.
Hua Luo held her breath and sent a message to Lu Zhenqiu: 【Qiuqiu, a new continent I just discovered 【Website Link】】
Lu Zhenqiu’s phone screen flickered, a light illuminating the entangled bodies in the study. An hour ago, Jin Shuilan had carried her to turn off the lights, plunging the entire study into darkness. Before she had a chance to adjust, she was pushed against the window. The icy sensation was like oil on a fire; not only did it fail to cool her down, but it made her burn even more fiercely.
She and Jin Shuilan held each other, moving from the floor-to-ceiling window to the desk. She sat on the desk, with Jin Shuilan’s published books behind her and Jin Shuilan herself in front. One side was soft, the other hard, just like the feeling in her body, like ice and fire, two different heavens.4
After the extreme back-and-forth, she finally collapsed on the desk, completely limp.
When the phone screen lit up, Lu Zhenqiu couldn’t even think about reaching for it. It was Jin Shuilan who casually picked it up and handed it to her. Lu Zhenqiu leaned against her and opened her phone, her face immediately turning redder when she saw the unreliable message from Hua Luo.
Jin Shuilan asked, “Who is it?”
Lu Zhenqiu said, “No one.”
Jin Shuilan turned her head to look at Lu Zhenqiu. Lu Zhenqiu bit her lip, “Hua Luo.”
“What’s the matter?”
Lu Zhenqiu shook her head, “Nothing, just asking if I’m here.”
Her lying skills had clearly not yet reached the point where the fire in the furnace turns pure green5. Or perhaps, she just didn’t lie in the past, so she didn’t know how. Her eyes flickered slightly, her expression guilty. Jin Shuilan found her lying to be quite cute and deliberately teased her, “Let me see.”
Lu Zhenqiu pressed the screen lock button, “It’s really nothing…”
The phone screen went black, and their surroundings darkened again. Jin Shuilan said, “Let’s just sleep here tonight. Let’s go to my room.”
Lu Zhenqiu nodded and got up with her. Her feet were unsteady, and her body stumbled forward, the phone falling to the floor. Jin Shuilan picked it up, her thumb unintentionally touching the unlock sensor. With a click, the phone unlocked.
Jin Shuilan looked down. Lu Zhenqiu immediately snatched it back, her face bright red.
She let out a laugh, “What’s wrong?”
She wasn’t curious at first, but the more Lu Zhenqiu tried to hide it, the more curious Jin Shuilan became. Lu Zhenqiu pressed her lips together, “It’s nothing, just a website Hua Luo sent me.”
Jin Shuilan led her into the adjacent room. There was a bay window, a lamp, and a soft bed. Lu Zhenqiu sat on the edge of the bed and heard Jin Shuilan say, “What website? A resource book?”
Lu Zhenqiu’s face immediately flushed, and she didn’t hide it this time, nodding.
Jin Shuilan: “You guys share this stuff?”
“It’s not like we share it often,” Lu Zhenqiu said. “It’s for our study needs.”
Her serious expression made Jin Shuilan laugh.
Jin Shuilan nodded, “Oh, so have you researched any results? Which website did she send you?”
Lu Zhenqiu had already clicked open the website a second before, so hearing Jin Shuilan’s question, she simply handed the phone to her. Jin Shuilan looked down, “‘Runaway Sweet Wife’s Little Black Room,’6 ‘Sweet and Spicy Younger Sister’…”
“Stop reading,” Lu Zhenqiu said. “Have you never seen these?”
Jin Shuilan thought for a moment, “Actually, no.”
Lu Zhenqiu turned her head.
Jin Shuilan explained, “I’m usually the one responsible for writing.”
Then you’re even lewder!
Lu Zhenqiu’s face was completely red. She was nowhere near as composed as Jin Shuilan, discussing writing and reading little yellow books7 with her girlfriend in bed. Just thinking about it was mortifying, especially with Jin Shuilan reading in a slightly low voice, “Wifey, wifey, you’re so good…”
Really!
Lu Zhenqiu clamped a hand over Jin Shuilan’s mouth to stop her from making a sound.
Jin Shuilan’s tongue licked her palm. Lu Zhenqiu pulled her hand back. Jin Shuilan asked, “How about you read it to me?”
If it were Lu Zhenqiu’s voice narrating that passage, just the thought made Jin Shuilan’s throat itch. Lu Zhenqiu shot her an annoyed glance. Jin Shuilan called out, “Qiuqiu.”
She seemed to have never acted cute.8
Lu Zhenqiu couldn’t remember how many times she herself had acted cute. She actually really liked acting cute; it represented her wholehearted affection for a person, her desire to be infinitely close to them. It was her quirk, so she loved to do it.
Hua Luo said she was practically a two-faced person. Around people she didn’t know well, she was quiet, gentle, and sometimes even had a bit of a high and cold vibe, but once you got to know her, you’d realize she was very clingy.
And Jin Shuilan was someone who could see just how clingy she could be.
But she rarely heard Jin Shuilan act cute.
Except when coaxing her to sleep.
Lu Zhenqiu shook her head, feeling that Jin Shuilan at this moment had a hint of acting cute, which was truly rare. She turned her head, “Then I’ll just read a paragraph.”
Jin Shuilan said, “Okay.”
She pulled Lu Zhenqiu down to lie on the bed. Their clothes were in disarray, their pajamas messy. After lying down, Lu Zhenqiu held the phone, initially facing Jin Shuilan, but feeling too embarrassed, she turned her back to her. Jin Shuilan simply pulled her into an embrace. Behind Lu Zhenqiu was a warm, soft chest, and her heart also became a complete mess of softness.9
The story was chosen by Jin Shuilan, something called ‘Runaway Sweet Wife’s Little Black Room.’ The name alone sounded improper. Lu Zhenqiu bit her lip and, after a few seconds, began to read. The story was roughly about a couple in college. Upon graduation, the female protagonist discovered a problem with her body and, not wanting to worry the other person, she disappeared. Then, through an error of yin and yang10, she was cured and later reunited with him in the business world. It had no logic, but a lot of meat11. From the beginning to the end, it was almost all meat. Lu Zhenqiu read haltingly. For every paragraph she read, Jin Shuilan would perform the actions from the book. In the end, she couldn’t read anymore and turned her head to ask Jin Shuilan, “What are you doing?”
The soft accusation had no force. Jin Shuilan pressed against her, wrapping an arm around her waist, her head resting on her shoulder. “Listening to you read.”
Lu Zhenqiu said, “Then your hands are not allowed to move.”
Her movements were making it impossible for her to read.
Jin Shuilan laughed, “Alright.”
She held her hands out from under the covers to show her sincerity. There was a smile on her face, her beautiful hair slightly messy, fine bangs covering her eyebrows. Her eyes were clear and bright, her cheeks slightly flushed, and her thin lips were a vivid red. Lu Zhenqiu, thinking of the taste of those lips, stared at them and said, “No moving, okay?”
Jin Shuilan nodded. Lu Zhenqiu snuggled closer into her embrace and turned off the bedside lamp, leaving only the brightness of the phone screen. Seeing Jin Shuilan being uncharacteristically obedient, she couldn’t resist and, following the content of the book, began her attack.
A slightly hoarse voice called out, “Qiuqiu.”
Lu Zhenqiu gave a soft “mhm,” put down her phone, and burrowed her head under the covers.
The contours were distinct. Jin Shuilan’s hands had no chance to get into the blanket and could only grip the edge of the thin cover, clutching it tightly.
A long time later.
Lu Zhenqiu poked her head out from under the covers, her face a brilliant red. She pressed against Jin Shuilan’s chest, listening to the chaotic, disorderly sound of her heartbeat, which was much more intense than before.
Hua Luo waited all night but didn’t get a reply. She tutted, suspecting that Lu Zhenqiu might not have seen her message. Going to bed that early, and waking up that late?
How strange, was this person’s schedule so unstable?
Hua Luo got up listlessly and, as usual, first went to the website to check her comment section, and while she was at it, she checked Bai Mao’s. She and Bai Mao had a character linkage12 in this novel. The readers were all pleasantly surprised, feeling that them writing this way really created the illusion that parallel worlds existed, as if their protagonists were living there. Hua Luo loved comments like these and read them several times before smiling and going to brush her teeth and wash her face.
At a little past nine, she finished getting ready and put her laptop in her bag. Then she heard her phone ring. She glanced at the screen—it was actually Bai Mao.
“Teacher Bai,” Hua Luo asked, holding her bag, “What’s up? Do you need me to bring you breakfast?”
Bai Mao said, “No need. What time are you coming over?”
Hua Luo said, “I can be there in a moment. I’m all packed, just need to go downstairs and hail a cab.”
Bai Mao: “Oh.”
Then she said, “I’ll wait for you downstairs then.”
“Me?” Hua Luo was stunned. “Wait for me?”
She was sure she hadn’t misheard and asked strangely, “Teacher Bai, why did you come over to my place?”
Bai Mao hesitated.
She caught herself and explained, “I heard there’s a breakfast shop near you that’s really good.”
Hua Luo frowned, thinking, “Which one?”
Bai Mao said, “Xu Ji Buns.”
“Oh—” Hua Luo dragged out the sound. “Ha, don’t be fooled by those online reviews, they’re all paid for. I’ve tried it, only the vegetable bun tastes good. Anyway, since you’re here, I’ll take you to another place later, it’s really delicious.”
Bai Mao didn’t say anything.
Hua Luo said, “There’s a new congee shop that opened near us. The millet congee and preserved egg with lean pork congee are so delicious, and they have pumpkin congee too, it’s so sweet. I remember you like sweeter foods, right? I’ll take you there later…”
Once she started talking, she was endless, as if she had inexhaustible topics with everyone. Bai Mao listened quietly. Suddenly, there was a knock on the car window. She turned her head. Hua Luo was standing outside, holding up her phone, a laptop bag in her other hand, smiling and waving at her.
Quite… quite cute.
Bai Mao lowered her gaze and rolled down the window. Hua Luo put down her phone and said, “I’m freezing to death, let’s go get breakfast.”
She nodded and watched as Hua Luo naturally got into the car and sat in her front passenger seat. A seat no one had ever sat in before was now occupied. Bai Mao, who always found it difficult to get close to others, was still a little unused to it.
Hua Luo was very natural; it wasn’t awkward even when she wasn’t talking. After getting in the car, she looked at the car’s music player, “Teacher Bai, you like this song too? I loved this song when I was in school, I sang it every day. And this one, this one is great too, a strong recommendation!!”
Bai Mao glanced over, occasionally humming in agreement.
As they were about to reach the shop, Hua Luo pointed ahead and said, “We’re here!”
Bai Mao parked the car.
Just before getting out, Hua Luo received a call from Lu Zhenqiu. The voice on the other end was listless and weak, as if she had been thoroughly worn out. Hua Luo giggled, “Did you see the website I sent last night?”
Lu Zhenqiu said a few words back to her, and Hua Luo’s laughter grew louder. She was still smiling uncontrollably after hanging up.
Bai Mao asked curiously, “What website?”
“Oh, just a resource website,” Hua Luo said very naturally. “I discovered it yesterday. The meat written inside is so good! Especially savory! It’s super helpful for people like us who can’t write romance scenes!”
Bai Mao only reacted when she heard the word “meat.” She looked down. After Hua Luo finished, she asked her, “Teacher Bai, do you want it?”
Bai Mao was stunned for two seconds, a visible blush rising on her face. She turned away awkwardly, “No.”
The author has something to say:
Now:
Hua Luo: Teacher Bai, do you want it?
Bai Mao with righteous and stern words: No!
Later:
Hua Luo: Teacher Bai, do you want it?
Bai Mao: …
