Top-Tier Omega: Chasing Alpha to the Crematorium – Chapter 1

The Admiral Comes Knocking

On the mech arm assembly line, several engineers were operating the machinery in an orderly fashion.

Song Qingpei put down the mech component she had just finished assembling and casually listened in on the two mech engineers beside her, who were deep in conversation.

“Have you heard? The space pirates in the N8 Channel have been wiped out.”

“Really? Doesn’t that mean Planet N69, as the channel’s supply station, is about to get rich?”

Their topic immediately piqued the interest of others nearby, who eagerly joined in. “I heard,” one said excitedly, “that to eliminate the space pirates this time, Admiral Ming Yu personally disguised herself as a beautiful passing merchant to lure out the lecherous pirate leader. That’s how she managed to capture them all in one fell swoop.”

“As expected of the woman known as the Star Alliance Rose. It really makes you wonder what Admiral Ming Yu looks like.”

“Yeah, and just think what a powerful Alpha it would take to mark an Omega as exceptional as Admiral Ming Yu!”

Hearing talk of marking Omegas, Song Qingpei, an Alpha herself, lost interest. Unlike other Alphas with their potent pheromones, she had been classified as a low-grade A during testing. Her pheromones were too placid, difficult to stir into passion.

Except for…

An elegant, slender figure flashed through her mind. The first time their skin had touched, her pheromones had become active as never before. But after they separated, her pheromones had seemed to die, returning once more to a state of dormancy.

It had been two years. Thinking of that person still felt like a dream.

Back then, she had been a wanderer on a Garbage Planet. By a strange twist of fate, she saved an Omega whose heat had suddenly started. The beautiful woman was passionate and forward, with seduction coloring every glance, and the two shared a night of passion.1

When the beauty woke up afterward, she had no memory of her past. Song Qingpei had no choice but to take care of her. Over time, they fell in love. Just like that, she had gained a beautiful wife, and they even had an adorable daughter.

For Song Qingpei, an orphan who had drifted through the stars her whole life, she finally had a home. That period was the happiest time of her life. She devoted everything she had to her wife and daughter, wanting nothing more than for their family to live a warm and simple life.

But unexpectedly, her wife suddenly regained her memories. Her gaze turned as cold as frost on a snowy mountain. Those once red and alluring lips spat out one hurtful word after another:

“Song Qingpei, you are not worthy of marking me, and you are even less worthy of bearing my daughter. Let’s just pretend this never happened. I will have a sufficient sum of money left for you. I’ll take the girl and leave. Don’t pester me again, or you’ll have only yourself to blame when I stop being polite.”

The thought of the home she had longed for shattering just like that, of having to part with her daughter who was just learning to babble, felt like a knife twisting in Song Qingpei’s heart. No. It’s fine if my wife doesn’t want me, but I can’t be separated from my daughter.

She gritted her teeth, decided to consider her wife dead, and snuck away with their child.

Two years had passed in the blink of an eye. She wondered…

Song Qingpei shook her head. Forget it. She doesn’t want me anymore. What’s the point of these pathetic daydreams?

Snapping back to reality, Song Qingpei looked up and took a deep breath, just as her foreman came in, beaming. “Good news, everyone! The N8 Channel just reopened, and we’ve already landed a huge mech order. The boss is thrilled, so everyone can clock out early today. We’re all going out for a celebratory dinner!”

A cheer erupted from the workers. “Alright!!!”

“Let’s go! Let’s go!”

The crowd strode out of the factory workshop, followed by excited colleagues and a stunned Song Qingpei.

“That’s great, now I don’t have to ask for time off.”

Song Qingpei breathed a sigh of relief. She’d had a hard time finding this job and was worried that constantly asking for leave would get her fired. But her daughter got out of kindergarten early once a week, and she had to be there to pick her up. This was a perfect coincidence.

After everyone had left, she went to her foreman and told him she had something to take care of and couldn’t make it to the dinner. The foreman was a good guy and readily agreed.

Song Qingpei left the mech assembly room and went to the locker room to change out of her work clothes. She put on a black trench coat, a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, obscuring most of her facial features, then strode out of the mech base.

Heading to the parking area, she unlocked her car with facial recognition, activated the smart-driving feature, and set course for her daughter’s kindergarten.

Today was her daughter Song Song’s birthday. The little one had been chattering about it for days, saying she wanted her to be the very first one to pick her up. Thinking of how much she owed her daughter, Song Qingpei did her best to grant her small wishes.

Parking the car outside the kindergarten, Song Qingpei grabbed the gift from the passenger seat and stepped out. She stood right at the exit so her daughter would see her the moment she came out.

Before long, the little girl’s figure appeared in her line of sight, and she came running out happily.

The little girl was beautiful, with delicate features and fair, tender skin. She was utterly adorable.

“Mama!”

She called out sweetly and threw herself into Song Qingpei’s arms. “You really are the first one to pick Songsong up today! Mama is the best!”

“Mm, were you a good girl today?” Song Qingpei stroked the little girl’s head.

The little girl nodded. “Songsong was very well-behaved today.”

“Songsong, look at the birthday present Mama got you.” Song Qingpei took her daughter’s hand and passed her the gift.

Song Song’s eyes lit up as she eagerly opened the box.

“Wow!” she gasped. “Mama, it’s so beautiful!”

She held the box up. Inside was a brand-new mech model. Its design was unique and its form was magnificent; it was clearly a custom piece, made with great care.

“Does Songsong like it?” Song Qingpei asked with a smile.

Song Song nodded emphatically and hugged her tightly. “Songsong loves it! Thank you, Mama!”

“I’m glad you like it,” Song Qingpei said softly. “Come on, Mama will take you out to play, and then we’ll buy a birthday cake, okay?”

Song Song cheered, “Okay! Thank you, Mama.”

As they reached the car, just as Song Qingpei was about to lift her daughter inside, she suddenly felt a chill on her back, as if someone was watching her.

Song Qingpei whipped her head around, on high alert.

Four or five strange men were getting out of a black armored vehicle. Each was powerfully built with dark skin and a grim, fierce look in his eyes. They did not look like good people.

Song Qingpei had always made a habit of keeping a low profile. She quickly and warily led her daughter away.

Night fell.

The bustling streetscape was filled with waning lights.

Throughout the city, luxurious buildings rose from the ground, a picture of prosperity.

After taking her daughter out for dinner, Song Qingpei walked slowly along the street. The little girl chattered excitedly, telling her all about the fun things that happened at kindergarten.

A faint smile touched Song Qingpei’s lips. Watching her daughter’s lively expression, her own mood brightened.

“Mama, look! That Auntie is so pretty!”

Suddenly, Song Song tugged on Song Qingpei’s sleeve, pointing up at a projection on a tall building ahead and shouting.

Song Qingpei looked up. A giant, brightly lit screen was floating in the air.

It was currently broadcasting footage of the Seventh Fleet’s campaign to annihilate the space pirates. A black warship was shown being destroyed, the sparks from the explosion illuminating the screen in a dazzling array of colors.

This warship was the “Feilong,” the pirates’ most prized technological marvel, equipped with super-high-speed missiles, radar detection systems, reconnaissance satellites, and more.

The epic visuals were accompanied by a commentator’s passionate voice:

“Faced with such vicious space pirates, the Seventh Fleet, led by Admiral Ming Yu, fought heroically! The pirates were beaten so badly they were powerless to retaliate and fled in disarray.”

“It is reported that as the space pirates made their final retreat, Admiral Ming Yu led the fleet in pursuit to the very last starship, annihilating them in one decisive blow.”

“After twenty-six years of closure, the N8 Interstellar Channel is open once more, a feat made possible by the valiant efforts of Admiral Ming Yu.”

“So cool…” the little girl whispered, her face full of admiration.

Song Qingpei smiled and was about to speak when the image on the screen flickered. The battle footage came to an abrupt end, slowly revealing the exquisite face of a woman.

She wore a gilt Admiral’s uniform, as beautiful as a painting, yet her eyes were as cold as crystalline snow on a high mountain. Her background was a list of her illustrious military achievements, a stark contrast to her beauty.

Song Qingpei stared, dumbfounded, at the woman on the screen, her mind roaring.

…It was actually her!

Her identity was the Admiral of the Seventh Fleet!

How was that possible?

Song Qingpei’s heart hammered in her chest. The amnesiac wife she had saved, the person who had given birth to her daughter, was… was such a monumental figure.

She had known the woman’s status was noble—why else would she have become so cold and disdainful after regaining her memory? But she had never imagined that Ming Yu’s standing was so exceptional it made her feel ashamed of her own inadequacy.

The realization that she had spent all these years hiding, terrified that Ming Yu would find her and take their daughter away, sent a wave of fear through her. It seemed…

A chill of dread washed over Song Qingpei. It looked like they couldn’t stay here any longer. They had to take their daughter and leave as soon as possible.

She mulled it over, her mind racing.

“Mama… Mama, what’s wrong?”

Song Song gently nudged her arm, her little lips pouted in confusion.

Song Qingpei was stunned for a long moment before she managed to pull herself together. With an incredibly complicated mix of emotions, she swept her daughter into her arms.

“It’s nothing, Songsong. Let’s go home.”

On the way, Song Qingpei did her best to gently prepare her daughter, trying to get her to accept the fact that they would soon have to leave their familiar life behind.

“Mama, why do we have to leave?”

She tilted her little head, her perfectly cherubic face filled with confusion.

Song Qingpei was at a loss for words. She could only stroke her daughter’s soft hair and patiently try to soothe her, hoping the girl could understand her mother’s difficult situation.

Seeing her mother’s troubled expression, Song Song obediently agreed and rested her head quietly on her mother’s shoulder.

When they got home, Song Qingpei carried her daughter out of the car and into the elevator, planning to pack their things and leave immediately. She absolutely could not let that woman find her.

“Ding—”

The elevator doors slid open. Several tall men in black suits were standing guard right at the entrance, their sharp eyes scanning their surroundings.

Song Qingpei’s heart leaped into her throat.

Clutching her daughter, she nonchalantly shifted to the side and pressed the ‘close door’ button, preparing to leave.

“Stop!”

An authoritative voice rang out as a hand blocked the closing elevator doors.

Song Qingpei froze, took a deep breath, and forced herself to remain calm.

“Who are you? I don’t know you! Please move aside!”

The man in the lead stepped forward. His voice was respectful but left no room for refusal. “Miss Song, please come with us.”

Song Qingpei shielded Song Song behind her, her eyes fixed warily on them. “You must have the wrong person. I don’t know you.”

“I’m sorry, Miss Song. We are acting under orders. We must ask for your cooperation,” the man in black said firmly.

What do I do? What do I do?

Song Qingpei’s mind raced, desperately searching for a way out.

But against such overwhelming force, she was utterly powerless. She was half-forced out of the elevator and, holding her daughter in despair, walked toward her apartment door.

Outside the door, several more bodyguards were standing watch. The moment they saw Song Qingpei, they immediately stepped forward and opened the door for her.

Song Qingpei’s heart sank. She hugged her daughter tighter, her face a mask of vigilance.

The lead man in black took another step forward. “Miss Song, if you please.”

She had no choice but to brace herself and follow him inside.

The lights in the apartment were off. In the dimness, the tall, slender silhouette of a figure could be seen standing before the living room window, looking down at the view outside. The deep night completely shrouded her profile, revealing only a pair of long, slim legs and straight, tall boots.

“Mama, why are the lights off?”

A confused Song Song called out, her big, round eyes wide with unease.

Song Qingpei quickly soothed her. “It’s okay, Songsong, the lights will be on in a second…”

Click.

The voice-activated lights switched on.

The woman slowly turned around, her exquisite face revealed in full. An air of faint coldness radiated from her.

“Song Qingpei. It’s been a long time.”
